No native app launcher has ever given me so much doubt before, I usually went straight to Nova, but OneUI can replace Nova + Sesame(both paid) in most occasions, and it looks really good and seamless.
Any performance/benefits difference you noticed besides Nova's typical customization?

Nova vs OneUI, You can see how many frames OneUI drops because of that blur effect, I'd say the case is closed until it gets improved.

I stay with Nova for vertical scrolling in the app drawer and swipe left to Google. During the Pie beta program many of us asked for vertical scrolling but they didn't listen.
Oneui doesn't hide apps... Other than that I feel like they're close
OneUI also supports this fancy UI customization tool made by Samsung called Good Lock that I recently discovered. I've tested it and it works perfectly with my S10+.
You can download it from the Samsung Store if you're in one of the few available regions, or you can just install the APK manually.

I doubt this is unique to the plus but there should be a option in the Home Screen settings to hide apps from the app drawer, unless you were referring to something else?

Oneui home screen settings accessible by long pressing has a hide app option too!

Nova works great with Good Lock also. Good lock was actually available in 2018, I used it with a S9 Plus. It was disabled during the Pie Beta, but was updated yesterday to work with the stable pie release & the s10 plus

Correct me if I am wrong, but one ui cannot swipe right into googlenow, nor can it lower the notification window by pulling down anywhere on the screen.
I love the idea of removing a 3rd party app, but Nova still seems to be King for my needs.

With the latest Beta, Nova no longer needs TeslaUnread for notifications. There are choices for None, Dynamic badges, Dots, Numeric Dots, or TeslaUnread and they work well on my S9 running Pie. Google Discover has been added with a download of Nova Google Companion.

I agree. Nova mainly so I can have Google now.instead of Bixby home.
I would love to use icon packs system wide, my OCD strikes a bit when the icons on the Homescreen are different to them in menus, apps and mitli tasking view.
I was surprised how smooth one UI runs, I owned a Samsung smartphone years ago from work and it was very laggy. Now, this is my first Samsung, it's very smooth, but I would like more customization and never understood why manufacturers won't support icon packs natively.
On Huawei EMUI you're able to create an own theme with an app where the icons were enabled globally.
I'm currently using one ui. I also have rootless pixel launcher installed. I'm liking what they've done with one ui launcher. With package disabled pro I've frozen all of bixby except for bixby voice. That allows me to change the default bixby key to Google feed. You just select Google for the app and the feed opens right up with a tap of the bixby button. So even though it isn't a swipe from the left it is still a tap on the left for Google feed and one ui.
I tried to like the One UI, but ultimately it had to go. Using Nova mostly because of the google now feed.

Hi,
can anyone who already might have the phone check, if it is possible to install Nova Launcher? In this thread it seems like huawei removed the ability. Thx!
You can still install and use Nova, but there are some bugs with gesture navigation. No problem if you use traditional nav bar.
See demonstration:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpGWc3rdXRQ
i saw another video with smooth working nova launcher
but it also seems that huawei offers a seperated app drawer in emui9, so maybe there is no more need for nova...?

yeah thats' the case for a while now. but i don't like the old fashioned way they implemented it. you know with the separate button to launch the drawer. it would be much more consistent if they do it like google does with the swipe to open the drawer.

The main problem with nova+emui 9 gesture is an animation glitch when going to homescreen. Installing fluid gestures solved that problem 90% of the time, still around 10% chance the glitch happens on my phone, but it doesn't bother me too much.
Another problem is blue tint in task switch screen and its crappy UI design (you can't touch the left or right card and go to that app directly, and it's difficult to stop at the right card), but i guess that's related to nova, not with gestures. It's annoying but still I can live with.
If you use the international rom. that's all you need to worry about.
If you use the Chinese rom version, 3rd party launcher is banned. If you bypass that ban by disabling emui launcher with adb, gestures will become unusable. Fluid gestures won't fix that problem. So you have to pick between using gestures or using 3rd party launcher, not both.
Ok , ive Solved with One plus gestures (that ive paid) and Hide nav bar.
I ve used and adb command and now It works perfectly with Nova Launcher.

Fluid NG is the answer.

works great with any launcher (I tested with Nova and Action Launcher 5), and its free.

Yeah there are load of 3rd party apps out there but i would preffer to not rely on those bit instead huawei to put their ****s together and not release official rom with the same exactly bugs they had on beta. This specific bug i reported it as a beta tester.

Thank god its android. We can just switch to other solution, or stay with the default one. Having options is good.
Navigation gestures app from xda is pretty nice.

Works after adb commands pretty well. But yeah Huawei should just fix their ****. Sometimes I don't know why they beta test their firmware. It seems that they don't fix any things from the beta firmware.

I just disabled the Launcher. It's working fine now after updating to 9.0.0.183
The only thing that's annoying me now is the front facing camera's stubborn beauty mode that cannot be disabled.
I have loaded the update 182 (yes 182 not 183) from funky Huawei about two weeks ago and that has fixed the one minor issue I've had with Nova Launcher.
It has been working perfectly fine since then.
My only issue now is that the Nova Launcher support has sent me an angry reply to my request because I own a Mate 20 Pro.
Those guys are pretty angry because of the accusations of Huawei intentionally sabotaging them.

you dont understand... can you install newest pixel or lawnchair launcher and set it as default, and give all permissions (and since you disabled the launcher you have to use the navkeys right? ) then reboot.... and look if the new pie gesture ui kicks in.... the recent overview and pill navbar.
get the. apk from xda or apk mirror
because the launcher is responsible for the navigation gestures in android P.
realy hate the emui gestures and wish to use stock android P gestures
this will take max 15min. of your time but help me forever.
thanks in advance

No it works like stock launcher
The gesture navigation works ALMOST perfectly with nova launcher. This is the best I could ask for. But just let me point out some scenarios that it stutters a little bit.
1. The animation when close an app is gone. You can't see the app fading into its position on the home page.
2. The gestures are a bit more sensitive on nova than stock EMUI. For example, swipe up and hold for recent apps. On EMUI launcher, it is about 0.5 seconds. However on nova, it is more like 0.3. Thus I often hold for too long and end up on recent apps instead of home page.
3. Under some special circumstances, the background picture for recent apps screen is the previous app you used. It looks extremely weird. I didn't manage to get a SS of it. Will upload once it happens again.
Having said all of that. I feel this 183 update improved the gestures navigation by a huge leap! Just need time to get use to it.

I have Nova Launcher now and I can Peek a Boo the dock with a swipe gesture so that it is not always present and disappears when not needed.
That is what I am looking for here. Am I missing something here?
Hey great, thanks for pointing that out...have a look at what I've done...if Lawnchair 2 did a clock like that I would be happy...or if you could mod the clock, colour it, resize it, change the padding around it, and the icons for the weather....so I could make it look like that..
Either way, it looks a million times better than the Xperia launcher so thanks for the advice...
Happy to be able to create folders in the app drawer.

Via adb, you could try:
wm overscan 0,0,0,-30
And to revert:
wm overscan 0,0,0,0
Bear in mind that this simply moves the nav bar below the bezel, some full screen apps react differently to this. Good luck.
