How did you manage to have access to these options? I can't find them on my app. I'm running the apk from the post you mentioned on 7.1.2.

It is definitelly better camera for dark shots. I have just one problem, anyone got slowmo video working?

HDR+ for low light is amazing. Although, simple photo (no HDR) is horrible, compared to stock app. It adds a load of noise.
Also, Slow-mo doesn't exist.
I don't like having 2 camera apps on the phone, so I guess I'll stay with stock.

BTW, there is new camera app in work, suposedly, it should be similar to Lumia ones.

Good thing to know. You can't push a lot out of not-the-best-hardware, but there's always a room for improvements.
Also, tested a bit more of this camera app. Still surprised how good was auto hdr+.

There is new camera in Oreo, its nicer but nothing special, guess we cant accept more for us...
I am using now HDR+ camera in version 5, it is slower but pictures are great, also slowmo doesnt work.

Have you checked Camera>Settings>Resolution? However Nokia 5 has 13mp camera you have mentioned 12mpx.

Yes modded pixel camera used to support 12mp res in android 7.1 but it is now down to only 8.3 mp in android 8.0

Theres a Nokia 5 at my place, and we installed the APP on the link above, but we havent tested it much yet.
But i've noticed the câmera APP to become slow (very slow) and laggy...could you please point me to a version of the APP where that doesn't happen?
Our Nokia 5 is running Oreo and to install gcam i've simply uninstalled the câmera APP that came with the os.

It works pretty well.
It works super, the HDR+ gives better photos than original and portrait mode works superbly. Only bug is it crashes few times , specifically during portrait mode photos . And slow mo video doesn't work. Still thanks a lot. For a great app.

Go to Settings >> Advanced and check if the Portrait mode toggle is enabled. If it's enabled and still it doesn't show in the camera then restart the app or reboot your phone.

Latest version of 3T RR is dropping frames on video. 60fps rear camera video has noticable stuttering, 30fps looks more like 15fps. Not usable yet. Is Oreo required for this?

U can definitely see the UI and some Optimizations cannot be seen in settings. I say try the mod. You will see an increase in detail compared to GCMod.

Seems that something is wrong with the ROM. It is working on other nougat ROMs.

When portrait mode was introduced it caused some bugs on nougat. It may be fixed in the future

Yeah even I tried this GCam in Pixel Experience 8.1.0 and it worked flawlessly but when I reverted back to Paranoid Android the GCam is crashing

Since you seem to be the only dev with deep knowledge on android camera libs, I would like to hear your opinion on this issue.
Camera2 API Bugs
It has been reported counteless times, I've myself tweeted oneplus and carl pei about the issue, but nothing official ever came out.
There are two big issues right now. The crash described in that post under certain conditions (which also makes Gcam crash wheen shooting bright light using some of the hdr+ enhanced profiles;
The second one actually brokes the third party manual camera experience. IF you shoot under camera2 api using full auto, photos will come right (as gcam can do), even when using ISO above 799 (auto picked from software). Once you try manual controls, iso inputs above 799 will be the same as 799. What does it mean? We actually can't use a third party camera like filmic pro or cinema4k under low light settings or we can't use more advanced photo cams, like camera fv-5, to shoot low light with manual controls (which have some extras that stock cam lacks like the intervalometer).
Let me say again. Don't read this as a request. We just would love to have a word if it can be easily fixable, or even fixable, by someone who might have the time to spend.

Download Terminal Emulator from playstore

resulted in purple pics. (not only on gcam, tried open cam and snap cam as well)

Purple pics and portrait does not work no images are takes when shutter button is tapped do you want any logs?

Fixed on GCam5.1.018-Arnova8G2-V1.6.

Working nice.best work.only 1 issue that the front portrait pic is good but the person face is not so clear in pic.

Hi, as reported getting the purple tint when taking pictures on front cam with or without HDR+.
Here I send you the logs when entering the app and taking a pic with HDR+ on.
Apk Used: MGC_5.1.018.177470874.41362666__A7.0-8.1_MI5S_v2e.apk
I send 2 pics to show HDR+ is actually working.

I tried installing the magisk module but I am getting error 2 ( using Z-Unleashed, 8.1, TWRP 3.2.1), any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Try using Chrome and give proper permissions if it asks for them to install the apk.
Download via Tapatalk doesn't work for me too.

There's a bunch of resolutions for pictures and I like to clean them up.
Suggestions?
Remove everything below 2592x1944 ?
Or only keep: 4608x3456, 4608x2176 and 3456x3456? (Like on OOS camera)

Autofocus works here.
Settings open on back and front cam, sometimes only takes a second or two until the settings button works.
Countdown timer too, also takes pictures.
Also on OOS 5.1.5
Filters not working, confirm.

I installed version2, when I click to shot the photo, nothing is happening. But the autofocus works. In pro mode it is shooting

There's sometimes a delay if flash is enabled.

Has anyone tested it directly against stock cam and Gcam? Would like to see how it compares in terms of details, colour balance and HDR performance...

Oh don't worry, I'll do my own comparison and post them here. It's just night right now and I wanted to see whether anyone else has already Put some work in it...?

Not really great lighting for Photography today...just did one brief test, and can't see a big difference between stock and Snapdragon camera in non-HDR mode. Will have to do more testing when I have more time.

same as stock, worse than gcam in terms of details, but gcam has problems with colour

Arnova gcam
I am using the latest arnova mod of gcam (GcamAdvanced_V2.0.190420.0415.apk) [Not allowed to post link being a new user].
(For starters: go to celsoazevedo_com website-> popular modders->Arnova8G2 and download the latest
version. )
Works good enough for stills (No need of bootloader unlock, root, etc just download apk and install). Video is a bit shaky and slo-mo does not work. Also, it takes only up to 12MP pics although the sensor is 16mp.
Let me know if any of you find a better one.

Edit: sometimes the app freezes while opening from the background, to get it working just switch between modes.

I have installed the gcam and compared pictures on realme 3 pro, The default camera app seems to over saturate pictures while gcam was accurate with colours (atleast better than the stock) I will post picture samples if u want.

Does the slow mo video, portaint mode, works in gcam?

yes bro it will be better if u can upload pictures showing comparison between gcam and stock cam thanks bro.

Yes the potrait mode works, the gcam just closes when u click on slow motion option. I don't know how to upload pics on xda. If someone cud tell me I would gladly post them

Ok so the stock camera images has watermark at the bottom left side and the ones without watermark are gcam shots. Still cudnt figure out a way to upload plss help...

While using front camera the auto focus does not work does anyone know any fix? Please let me know.

Open stock camera app > tap Setting icon at top-right corner > scroll to bottom of the options to find toggle to turn off watermark.
To upload image, don't use Quick Reply, but tap the 'Go Advanced' button. In the Advanced Mode, scroll down past the text box and you will find more options, including a 'Manage Attachments' button. Use that to upload your images.

The front camera is fixed focus, therefore it does not have autofocus capabilities. But you can still use tap-to-focus on the camera's viewfinder to select which object to focus.
Anyone is welcome to correct me, though.
