Incoming SMS Sound - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

I have customised my sms sounds so that I know who's texting me. I keep my phone on sound at work, as I don't always hear when its on 'vibrate'.
This is my first huawei, and with all my previous samsung phones I have been able to just touch my phone when a text was coming in and the sound would stop immediately, so far with the mate 20 pro, I have to open message before the message tune stops, is there a quick way to silence incoming sms sounds?
TIA

Microphone issue? Whatsapp voice messages too soft

Hello everyone,
On whatsapp you can send voice messages right?
For some reason my voice messages are very soft recently.
My friends have complained that they can't hear my messages and when i'm listening to my own sent voice messages, it's very soft too!
However, I am nearly touching the microphone while i'm sending a voice message!
Does anyone else have this issue with whatsapp?
I did not encounter any problems like a few weeks ago.
Warm regards,
Rosaline

Hello,
I have a similar issue. Basically if I send a voice message without staying very close to the microphone the message results very soft. But if I put my mouth close to the microphone the voice message is ok. I don't know if it depends on the microphone or on the firmware.
Try and set it to high? Settings>sound and notifications>accessory settings>mic sensitivity

Hmm, I seem to have the same problem even though I hold the bottom of the phone (the mic) in front of my mouth
I have an app that is recording an actual phone call (so not a whatsapp call) for me and when I listen to that recording my mic seems to be doing fine.
So it is only whatsapp that's acting weird.
Not sure what could be the reason.
Have you found any fix for it because i have the same problem with snapchat

That is not what he is asking. Media is for movies and songs. Alarm is self explanatory. Calls is the volume of the voice of the person on the other end of a phone call, whether you initiated the call or not. Ringtone, is the volume of whatever you choose to hear when a call comes in...but this is also the volume of the notification tones you choose to hear when a text, or an email arrives.
The linking of these two volumes has been a major pain for some years now. This is an Android thing. My ZTE Axon 7 has them unlinked but ZTE did it so I know it can be done. However, nearly all other OEM's do NOT do this but leave it at the default. There are 3rd party apps in the Play Store that claim to do this but NONE of the ones I tried actually work!
What I did is create a notification tone at half volume. That way I can leave the ringtone volume at a higher level and the notification still comes through not as loud! Major pain, but it works.

But why would you want to have the notifications and call volume split? Just curious.

The issue is that in general, if you use built in ringtones, they are generally pleasant little songs that play when someone is trying to call you. Today, though, most people do not talk on their "phones" but rather send and receive texts and emails. However, the built in tones for notifications are usually very short and more harsh in their tone in order to get your attention, not to mention they are played much more often than a true ringtone. Therefore, many people want the volume of their notifications to be lower, less obtrusive, than their ringtone. But the wisdom of the people at Google decided that we want them both to be the same volume all the time, which is simply not true. Thus, my solution.

Perfect, that's exactly what I meant, on the Samsung S7 / S8 we can separate the volume. I find that very inconvenient.
+1 missing split volume ring/notification
Any solution?

Question Whatsapp audio messages issue

So I usually send an receive Whatsapp audio messages, and sometimes I listen to these messages by placing the handset on my ear, it is a cool functionality that allows me to listen to the message through the top speaker when the proximity sensor is triggered.
The problem is that sometimes something is flipped over, so by default the message would play through the top speaker, and when I bring the phone to my ear, the message is played through the bottom speaker. I've been embarrassed by this a couple of times when I'm trying to listen to a message when others are around me. The only solution I know is restarting the phone, which is very inconvenient.
Any idea why this is happening? and how to fix it? P.S: my phone is not rooted.
Thanks
