I accidentally removed the package com.android.contacts. Now it's not possible to make calls with the stock telephone app, the app isn't visible in launcher anymore.
Can someone with root provide me with the full details, where this app resides? I guess it's something with /sytem/priv-app.
Yes, it's in system/priv-app
I would need the full path please.
So also folder name and name of the apk inside.

Last night I went to use the mirror app and noticed it wasn't in the app drawer. I looked through my files using root explorer and couldn't find any mention of mirror. I thought my son may have inadvertently deleted it so I looked through Titanium Backup and couldn't find it there either. However, if I use search, the app shows up in the list. I can click on it and it works just fine but this is the only way to access it. Any one know how I can get the shortcut back in the app drawer? This is the only program that is missing.
Bump
Can someone at least point me in the direction to look? I have root explorer and looked in some folders, but don't know if there's a folder that contains the programs of the app drawer or if the drawer just contains shortcuts to the apps.

Every application .apk file contains an AndroidManifest.xml file in the root of the .apk file. Inside the AndroidManifest.xml file it provides directions for the package manager/launcher on whether or not to load the application into the Launcher 'draw/tray' and which icon to use.
The android package manager constantly monitors /data/app (3rd party apps) and /system/apps (stock and system apps) directories and picks up any added/removed .apk files. It will either add their icon to the launcher draw/tray or remove from the launcher draw/tray.
If you're having issues with the application not appearing in the Launcher draw/tray, I'd double check the application's respective .apk file is located in either /data/app or /system/app.
Hope that helps!
Thanks. Didn't find the apk in those folders or anyplace else. Guess I'm going to have to use rootexplorer and go through each folder 1 by 1.

Thanks for posting this. I tried to flash it via TWRP2 Recovery, but it didn't fix it. It's still hidden, only visiting when Google Searching for it, just like it was before. Is there something I'm missing or an alternative way to install it? Thanks.
May I know is there any apps that can track the file changes in my android phone?

what? as in /system etc? if so then i am not sure of a alternative but since it is a android phone. i bet their is a app for that somewhere
Sdmaid has an option that allows you to see what files have been edited in a chosen time frame, but its a general overview I believe, and no more details like the type of modification made.

Couple of screenshots, not sure if it's any good.

Sadly it don't monitors root directory. What other app can do?
What version of SD Maid did that on the post above? Seems an old version.. Will search for it.

Could someone possibly code an app for window or mac that renames the package name of an apk?
bump
What do you mean by package name? Like the com.whatever.whatever? Why do you want this?

That renames the name name of the APK to either the name of the apk or the name of the package.
That does NOT rename the package name inside of the apk.
What I want is an app that automatically renames apk page name inside of an apk.
Anyone?
Sorry, I don't know for any prog that do this

With a root file manager navigate to root-system/media/audio, then replace the folders with the ones provided in the zip. Verify that the permissions are correct (folders and files inside), then reboot. Its a good idea to make a backup folder with the stock files in case you want to revert to the stock sounds.

Just unzip, move the 'audio' folder into the 'notifications' folder on your device and reboot. Make sure you delete the extracted folder for where ever you extracted to and keep what's been moved in 'notifications' folder or you'll get duplicates for each sound. If you do have duplicates then just accept it or look through one by one and delete duplicated sound from 'notifications' folder.
I'm theory you can have these sounds anywhere as it will just pick up the .ogg files and add it to your list of sounds. I like to keep them separate in 'notifications' folder.
Hope this helps and don't forget to thank if it did.

I have just
duplicate your different folders (UI, notifications etc etc) in the folder audio,
Change permissions for each files,
not delete the original folder, just rename with 'back' at the end.
And no sound!!!

You don't have to move anything into the system - media - audio folder or change any permissions. These can be in your download folder and they will still be picked up.
A while back Samsung made it so you can't add any audio to the media - audio location in your device so from then we just move the ogg files to the notification folder on your sdcard (not external bit may still work).
Thank-you for the sharing.
You can also unzip and paste all the files to : /storage/extSdCard/media/audio/notifications
Or
/storage/extSdCard/media/audio/ringtones
