Hoping you can help
Ideally I want to be able to fix all issues on the phone itself without the need to connect to a laptop.
1. Phone clone worked but didn't transfer my pictures in album just in one big gallery? How can I get back into albums?
2. All photos repeat in both Huawei gallery and Google photos as default? I only need one. Can you just delete the other?
3. Big issue: all my music artwork shows up in my photo gallery so I have thousands of albums covers mixed in with my normal photos. It takes ages searching through my photos. I don't want to see any music artwork in my photo albums just on the music app when I play music. How can I hide this simply? It's for driving me mad! I don't understand the terminology around creating a no media file etc.
4. With Huawei mail how do you restore deleted emails to inbox. Doesn't seem to give the option but the trash button is where the reply button is on iPhone so easy deleted!
5. I deleted the Huawei alarm and weather by accident and they are no where to be seen in the play store. Surely there is an easy way to restore other than factory reset!?
Thanks
First of all. Welcome to the android side! I am not too sure of your first few questions as I never had them before.
As for the alarm and weather app. Have you tried finding them on the hauwei app gallery? If it is not there. Then you may have to do a factory reset. Or if there are any ADB methods you can try
Sorry that I am not of much help.
1: I don't know how Albums are organized in iPhone, but in Google photos they are just labels, all photos are present in the gallery, even if they are labeled in an album (I don't use Huawei gallery, only Google Photos).
2: I don't know exactly what you mean, but Gallery and Google Photos are most probably collecting the photos from one location, if you delete the photos in one app, they are most probable deleted in the other one. I backup all my photos with Google Photos. But if you want to get rid of one of the apps, I haven't but I just use Google Photos.
3: an empty .nomedia file in a specific folder prevents the folder to be scanned by the gallery or Google Photos, there is probable a file like this in Local Storage > Android > Data folder, go see File manager (in settings enable hidden files) and look for a .nomedia file and copy it to the Album Artwork folder.
4: I don't use Huawei mail, just Gmail.
5: I know Weather is nowhere available online (had the same issue), hard reset is probably the only way.

I am running TnT Lite 4.4 (Love it).
I have moved some pictures onto both the internal sdcard and sdcard2. But gallery does not pick them up and display them. It sees my picasa pics, but nothing local.
I do not see any options under Gallery to set a local directory.
Does nayone know how to configure Gallery to look at a local dir for pictures?
I'm seeing the same thing. So far in searches I haven't found an answer.
Additional behavior, if I browse to a picture in the file manager it opens with gallery, but the only controls that work are the zoom in/out. The more and share controls will briefly show and then disappear if you long press.
Me too...
I have been having Gallery problems for some time now, about 2 weeks to be exact. I get no thumbnails, and no gallery found. Nothing I have tried to do will show the pics on my gtablet. However, if I go into an app like RootExplorer, and go to the folder with pics, I can get them to be displayed by apps like Just Pictures, etc. Even Gallery will display the individual pics but very slowly.
So far, have not been able to conquer this problem. I was told to add a folder named .nomedia . But that did not work.
It's aggravating not having Gallery working.
Hi all
Just got my new S3 today, came across from a HTC and boy this thing's not as intuitive to set up or sync contacts as Sense is. Anyway, that aside, I have a strange problem with the gallery and pictures I've uploaded to the phone.
Firstly, every time I open gallery, it displays all my locally stored photos and also all my Facebook albums. I select "View files on this device" and it drops my facebook photos off, butbwhen I quit the gallery and come back to it later it does thecsame, there doesn't seem to be a way to grt it to remember my default choice of local photos only.
Secondly, I have about a dozen folders with photos, all resized ftom originals I took on my camera to save size, and I've changed their file name using "Thailand Photo 001" "Thailand Photo 002" 003 004 etc. They were all renamed using a batch renamer so their creation date/time stamp is the same. They are in folders named "01 Thailand", "02 Vietnam" "03 Cambodia" etc.
When I use the stock S3 Gallery app, not only are the folders displayed in reverse order from the highest number back to 01, all the photos are displayed in reverse order too, from the highest to the lowest. In Quickpic they all display fine.
My girlfriends non-ICS Galaxy Note displays the albums in the right order, but the photos reversed also.
Apart from using Quickpic, I'm loathe to leave the stock gallery app because if the face recognition and tagging etc, has anybody else seen this problem, maybe on an S2 or somewhere? I've emailed Samsung tech support but I don't have much faith in them - I emailed them previously querying the ICS update for the Note and they emailed back saying they had no information on it.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.
I may have an idea about your Facebook pics problem, but that would disable syncing your Facebook photos to your Gallery altogether.
Go to Settings - Accounts and sync - Add account
There should be 2 options for Facebook
The first, simply called Facebook, is generated by having the Facebook app installed on your phone and will not sync your Facebook photos at all
The second, called Facebook (for syncing) should be inherent to the phone and will sync your photos. Remove that account and no more Facebook pics in your gallery
Thanks...
I just typed out a complete answer to you, popped to another tab and came back to find the page reloaded, so I'll keep this brief!
Re gallery issue - Samsung say it'll display photos newest first and that's that, the phone won't do it any other way, so my gallery shows my folders and photos in reverse order, ie newest photo at top descending to oldent, and the most recently crested sub-folder at the top - regardless of the file naming order.
I then emailed photos of the "My Files" app showing the correct file order - ie oldest at the top, descending to newest, and folders in the correct descending order, showing that an app can use the name & date correctly and in the 'correct' descending order - and also screenshots of QuickPic showing folders in the correct <001 trip part 1><002 trip part 2><003 trip part 3> order.
Samsung then backtracked in saying ok the phone can do it but the gallery can't, but their way is the correct way.
I pointed out that, ascseen in the screenshots, Gallery actuallt displays folders out of both date and file name order, but they skipped over that. I'll just have to either live with it or just use QuickPic.
Thanks for your advice re the facebook photos - I removed Facebook sync, and google pic sync, and no more Facebook or picasa pics!
I got a Galaxy S3 (International Edition) just yesterday
I enabled it to pull stuff from my google accounts, but then when I'm going to open the contacts, I see a bunch of my gmail contacts
How can I remove those from the phone? Selecting to display 'only contacts with phones' seems to fix it, but the email contacts are still available to be seen if one goes to settings and sets to display all contacts again
The same happens with the gallery application, it has like one album for each image I've ever published in Google+, I can set it to display only images from the phone, but then this is not a permanent setting, everytime I exit the Gallery app and re-enter it, it will display all the images from G+ (and I've heard that it will scan the microSD at launch for images, so it will become a clutter of every possible image it can find in the SD)
I have now disabled the sync of google contacts / g+ stuff to the phone, from settings -> accounts and sync -> uncheck sync google photos/google+/picasa web albums/contacts, so it doesn't pull down new stuff anymore, but the old stuff is still there
Is there any way to remove that?
Is there a good gallery app that will not scan the whole SD for media, nor will pull stuff from picasa/google+?
Thanks!
quick pic is the gallery app for you, you can select which folders to see, or just long press a folder and hit exclude

I'm also using quick pic and happy with it. Simple but does the work better then stock gallery app.

Now just delete local files and you should be fine.
If you have a lot of them I would suggest to use File Browser such as ASTRO.
I can't get my head around the new google photo.
I have always used quickpic so I have always organized pic locally by folder.
In google photo I can choose which folder to sync but in the app pics are organized by date, no way to organise them by folder.
If I delete a pic from the google photo app, it is also deleted from the synced local folder (I check with solid explorer), but if I delete a pic from the synced local folder (with solid explorer) it is not delete from the google photo app. I understand this pic (the one I deleted from local folder) is still stored only online, so if I am not online (on the plane, for example) can I view this photo? I'd say no, since it is online only.
If it is so, when I open the google photo app, how do I know which pics are also phisically present on which synced local folders?
If instead of deleting the pic from the synced local folder I move them to a non synced local folder, does it mean I will have a copy online and a copy offline not in sync?
Thanks

If you organize by "album", it pretty much puts in in standard view like the gallery where they are grouped by location (DCIM, Download, etc)

You may be able to if it is cached on the device. That one I'm not to sure about that one.

Try testing by viewing a photo and seeing if you can download it. If you can, then it probably isn't on the phone, or at least not in the original backup location
If instead of deleting the pic from the synced local folder I move them to a non synced local folder, does it mean I will have a copy online and a copy offline not in sync?
Good Question! If you get a result from experimentation, please post it. I'm curuios to know.

Also, does anyone know how the 'unlimited storage" thing will work with photos already backed up? It still shows my library as taking up 10 GB on drive when they were backed up to G+. They are definitely all 16 MP or less, so do I have to do anything to change this over to the "new" setting? Or will it automatically apply after Google works the kinks out?
Hello everyone.
For a long time I am using quickpic(cmcloud) app. These days, the software was removed from google play store, cause some permissions issue, no I see that it is still visible.
App can auto backup photos, by keeping folder structure. The archive photos can be view in quickpic app also in web portal of cm cloud.
Since last updates, photos are backing up on web page, but not shown in to application. The has support of other clouds (gdrive, dropbox, samba and etc)
but it doesn't work correctly - didn't make auto backups (tried on two different devices)
I don't like google photos, cause I can't exclude folder and all photos are dropped in one global folder, no folder structure, date kept and etc.
Can you suggest some nice, pretty photo viewer, which supports auto backup or better sync photos with folder structure, using gdrive, dropbox, smb, ftp.. ?
Thanks in advance !
