I bought a V30 from eBay which was on Nougat and tried to upgrade to Oreo following this https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/development/us998-lg-v30-us998-us99820a040330-kdz-t3786337, I downloaded the 20a and tried upgrading but I receive a Timeout Error and I don't know what to do, I tried also using the refurbish option and the same happens. I am getting worried now, I haven't tried rebooting the phone or anything in case I can't go back to download mode anymore. Also I have a US998.

Did you receive this error mid flash? (If so USB cord is messed up or you knocked into it somehow. Reflash)

My Lg G5 (Tmobile) keeps on rebooting to recovery mode (TWRP) no matter what rom I flash. I tried using LG Up software but no matter how many times I install the driver phone is not recognized. Firstly I flashed Fulmics ROM then I installed LineageOS (Cyanogenmod) after that phone was working fine for a while till I saw an update and tried updating it to new nightly version. Please help me out if anyone knows how can I fix this issue.
You probably need to put the phone in download mode and then try LG up otherwise try pushing a rom that works through adb

I am sure this method would fix it but I already returned my phone and got new one as I had 1 year warranty. I bought it from T-mobile and I locked the bootloader before turning in the phone so it doesn't look like I was trying anything fishy. Now instead of phone going to twrp each time it goes to boolop saying "device is currupted and won't boot". It won't go to recovery mode no matter what I do and hope I don't get charged from T-mobile saying this and that.
However, I am really grateful to all of you great people who tried their best to help and you sir actually threw me a solution but I was too impatient to wait for it. I know this method will work no matter what as I had been using this tool for my G2 in old days and fixed the worse bricks where I had to openup the whole phone take battery out and stuffs like this. I was looking for this method found everything but LG tool asked me for .dll file which I couldn't find anywhere and decided to give up on it...
Thank you for your help and now I know I am not going to be bricked anymore as I have this method to work with in future issues and am her waiting badly for Xposed to be available for Nougat.

Good to hear that, You are welcome,
And as you mentioned about "device is corrupted and won't boot", that's because you locked bootloader. And as you were using twrp which means modified system partition so phone said that. But you can still go to download mode and use the method to make it live or can try unlocking bootloader to start twrp.
I experienced similar situation. I thought I had to send my phone for repair. As I was able to put the phone to download mode, I used uppercut with downloaded kdz file from LG G5 development thread and restored my phone. I didn't use my phone for four days thinking that I had to take to a phone shop or send to service center. But after careful reading of unbrick tutorials, I brought my phone back to life. Now I can play flashing anything as I am confident that I can easily unbrick my phone.

A few days ago I got my G5 H830 and came with version 6.0.1 h83010i, looking for information on how to install custom rom, I read the post to install the .TOT file to be able to install TWRP and through this the Custom Rom, until there is Everything okay, I did everything right, but then I decided to go back to the Rom stock, on the night of that same day I saw that when I reboot my cell phone it stuck on the LG logo and it had some color pixels damaged (but no screen Damaged, if not because of small brick) then force a restart and continued the same, I did factory reset by stock recovery and then normal start, I went to sleep leaving it in 100% battery, and when I wake up in the morning the cell phone It is off, when I turn it on 5% and I get scared, then I wanted to go back to custom rom to leave those problems behind, but then when I install the TOT again and install the custom ROM it will restart half installed and any rom that installed it would stay Stuck and the LG logo and a bootloop until when it was flash the kdz several times until the cell did not want to ignite more, the pc does not recognize it or anything, I need help with this.
I just bought this phone through eBay through a very highly recommended seller. It was marked as brand new and it would come with the packaging and headphones. It came some things in little Ziplocs like the battery and the actual phone and the backing piece was in an actual Factory bag just the unsealed straight bags that you open and dump out so I'm thinking this isn't a new phone that is pre owned and don't know what to do. I went to do the upgrade from lollipop to marshmallow and it said phone is suspected of being rooted and then closed. Every time I turn the phone on it says "unfortunately teleyphoney has stopped". And not telephone but then it disappears and it runs fine. Just wondering others thoughts on the situation. It was stuck on AT&T to go has stopped and it wouldn't let me dismiss it or press okay so I had to hit okay and quickly swipe down to get into settings and it went away. I paid $250 us for the phone and it is spotless not a nick or even micro scratches on it anywhere so I thought it was a great deal. What would you do? Id just like some other peoples insight into this. I usually use nova launcher prime on every phone. I haven't rooted of flashed a Rom in years. Are there good roms? Like I said it's mint condition but has some occasional hiccups here and there.
Hi
I take it that your phone is the AT&T H900 V10, if so the phone is bootloader locked and cannot be rooted by the usual means. I believe there is a Rom in existence that provides root and TWRP recovery. You need to search for an OP named "tungkick or kik " as he has made this. Sorry to be so negative but I have the same phone running stock.

Yes that's the model. I just dont know why someone would take a brand new lg v10 root it then sell it. Could it have possibly been stolen and the eBay seller rooted it so he could unlock it? I don't know a ton about this stuff but have rooted and flashed roms years back. I would like it stock. The fingerprint scanner doesn't work and that's all I found so far.

Hi
To get stock search for the latest AT&T stock rom, which is H90020w. When and if you have it you will need the programs LGUP and or LG Bridge plus the LG drivers for the V10 (Google them). When you have all, you then need to put the V10 into download mode by switching the phone off completely.( I found that if after it is off you remove the battery and replace it after a couple of minutes it helps ensure it is completely off.) Then plug your USB cable to your computer and while holding the volume up button on the phone insert the other end of the cable into the phone and you will be in download mode. You then run LGUP and at the bottom of the program you will see a blank entry with BIN at the left side and 3 dots on the right,
Click here and then go to where you have saved the Rom and click on it and it should show in the enrty pane beside BIN. Hit start and the Rom will install.
Hope this longwinded explanation is helpful.

Thank you very much! Is this a stock Rom or will it return it to factory stock? I don't know very much about this. I have Lg bridge installed. So I should google lgup and download that on pc also? And if I see the v10 in my Devices does that mean I have the drivers?

Nothing will work with bridge except back-up probably because it realizes it's rooted. So this process will not unroot my phone just give me a stock Rom? as my phone was only rooted when it arrived and I use nova launcher prime instead of factory launchers on all the phones I get. I have 5 days to return it but see a lot of people want their v10s rooted but can't unless you did it before updates. I know rooting was part of installing the roms yrs ago but that's all I remembered. I am just a little ticked as it was listed as brand new but when I get it it's rooted. Other than that and fingerprint not working it is brand new. Still has plastic on metal strips n all. The seller has a great eBay record and there were a bunch of these available but listed as New. I even called and asked if brand new and he said yes. So idk if I should take it on the chin and keep it or ship it back and go another few weeks w out phone in hopes of getting an unopened one.
@nednerbish
That is a strange one. I bought my H900 and an H901 both off Ebay and both came Sim unlocked but that was all. They are both brand new. I bought the H901 because it can be bootloader unlocked and i like to use other Roms. The H900 i bought because it wa stock only and it updated to the Rom i quoted previously OTA. Have you tried the "repair recovery option of LG Bridge. And what version of Rom is on the phone is it MM or Lollipop? Because that can make a difference.
Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
Here's a screenshot.
And when I turn phone on or restart it I get this every time. I don't get it.
Lollipop. If you go to XDA Developers. LG V10 General tab there is a very good guide explaining how to go back to stock. Also you could download the LG support tool it may assist.

I'll check it out. Thank you again.
Hi do you know which of these I need for a rooted h90010f? I have Lg bridge installed and I installed lgup ver 1_14_3.msi I think the malware "teleyphone" is embedded in the Rom they flashed. I can't tell in my files where the Rom they used is.
Hi
The first H90020j is the stock Lollipop (Android 5) Rom.
The second H90021w is the latest stock Marshmallow (Android 6) Rom
The last one is what is says it is a rooted Rom but I do not know what Version of Android it is. It could be the same as the Rom you have installed at the moment and using it will keep you where you are now. The second is pure stock and if installed via LGUP will get rid of your problem, hopefully, unless there is something else involved.

I tried updating to android pie, then the phone reset and now its endlessly stuck on the logo, I cant turn it off, only thing that seemed to work was getting into the master reset menu, but even after reset the phone returned to the logo. It also doesn't connect to my pc. Please, what can I do, do I let it run out of battery? Is it gone now?
I'll let ChazzMatt answer this, as he is the expert. But I imagine he'll want to know which model number of V30 you have? Which ROM were you on? Is it rooted/BL unlocked? And how did you perform the update (OTA, LG Bridge, LGUP)?
Edit: Sorry, Chazz, I should have just waited, seeing you were right behind me

US998? There's 5 different workaround methods in the KDZ thread, in posts #2 and #6.
But a couple need unlocked Bootloader and TWRP. The others need you to manually go into Download mode. After THAT, your Dev Patched LGUP should recognize the phone. You should have read all this before attempting update.
IF you are on US988 firmware...
Fixed it, thanks

I already fixed it thanks! yes it was us998, I solved it by going to download mode and restoring oreo version with LGUP. Thanks for taking the time to respond! Im new to xda-developers and didnt know how to update my post
I followed the steps to ChazzMatts guide and used the US99810d_01_0411 kdz file to flash on the patched LGUP, I got an error eventually and attempted to get it out of download mode and restart my phone. Now it is stuck booting repeatedly on the LG V30 splash screen. It shows the logo and resets over and over again. I attempted master reset as well to no avail, it shows the erasing screen for about 4 seconds and goes back to bootlooping. Is there any saving this phone? Is it gone?
I think you're saying you got an error during the KDZ flash, is that correct? If so, then you need to complete the flash properly. It would also help if you tell us what the error was.
Go back into download mode and reflash the KDZ... if you get an error, you need to fix that before moving ahead and trying to boot the phone.

Read the Section 7 Trouble Shooting tips. Something isn't communicating properly with the phone. Sometimes it takes even trying a different PC. But first try reinstalling drivers, changing cables, changing USB ports. Just go down through the list from #2 to #13.
I recently purchased two new VS988 for an elderly friend of mine who loves his current G6 and was worried about LG getting out of the phone business. Trying to get the phones all set up for him I tried running the OTA updates which kept failing. After the OTA update process failed a dozen times or more I decided to try using the Windows VZW update utility. Finally, after a dozen tries the VZW utility finally managed to DL the FW to my computer but when it tried to install the FW it booted the phone into FW Update Mode and then failed to install. I have tried all of the listed methods of button presses to reboot the phone into any other mode but it always comes back to FW update mode. This morning I learned about the LGUP program and have given that a try and it stops at 4% with an error message that says "Error: 0x700A, ManipulateBootPT Failed"
I'm not sure what else to try. I'm using the cable that came in the box and a USB port on the back of my computer.
Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.
Maybe turn of recovery mode
How am I supposed to do that? No matter what buttons I try pressing when rebooting the phone it always comes back into FW Update Mode. I tried running the recovery process and the Verizon updater program and that had the same problem.

I don't recommend advice from that guy
The problem your having is stuck in download mode.
As long as you're not connected to a PC via USB and actively transferring a firmware file, you should be able to force shutdown by removing the battery and placing it back in (if possible) or pressing and holding Power for about 20 seconds. Then power on again normally.

Hey, did my information help?
Unfortunately nothing has worked I just ended up with two bricked phones. Thankfully they were just supposed to be back up phones for somebody that is unlikely to need them and can afford buying another replacement if something ever actually does happen to his primary. He has a lot of accessibility issues in a really prefers having the the buttons on the back of the phone so he doesn't keep turning it off accidentally.

If your android was stuck in recovery mode (as i know it), you could of just factory reset right?
forgive me it's been a couple of months since I bothered messing around with them but I believe it's not a generic recovery mode you know where you've got those four text options at the top you know and the Android with the exclamation point coming out of its chest but instead it's a firmware update mode. No amount of software tools or button key presses and we'll get the phones to do anything else. Both phones are dead right now cuz I just wanted to confirm what I was telling you whatever they managed to charge up later I will make sure what I'm saying is correct and I will let you know otherwise
If this is the screen you see, then i regret to inform you that your phone might have been bricked the entire time and you couldn't save it (unless you get new firmware for you device and install it). Trust me i had this experience before.
This is what I get. I try running the the Verizon LG update utility on the computer and after it reaches 11% or something like that it fails

Welp, my last geuss at this is that the previous owner got something like a virus to prevent the firmware update to continue. i've only worked with lg phones a few times, but those phones where very old (2008) and did not run android
Thanks for trying. I've given up and my friend didn't even get upset about it. Whatever went wrong happened when I tried to manually update them because the OTA kept failing. If he buys any more backups in the future I'll find him something a little more recent.
