1. DON'T FORGET TO ENABLE "OEM UNLOCK" and unlock BL in download mode (located in Developers options).
2. KNOX will be tripped once you flashed custom binaries to your phone.
(Your warranty may be voided. However this may not affect you if your country forces Samsung to provide hardware warranty regardless of software status.)
3. Samsung Firmware OTA (aka System Updates) will no longer work once you flashed custom binaries.
(You can flash custom ROMs if you want to keep the OS up-to-date.)
4. All apps that use KNOX like Samsung pay, Secure Folder and maybe more will no more work

Changelog:
15.12.2019
-Rebased to ASK9/ASL1 Kernel source
04.11.2019
- Rebased Kernel Source to ASJ1 one
- Added Random Reboot fix by ahronshor
- Magisk patched Builds use now Magisk 20.1. so if your rom dont boots anymore = broken rootfs and its not a problem of the recovery but from the rom and rom dev needs to fix it
22.09.2019
-Reverted MTP Changes from last build since for some mtp dont worked in system
21.09.2019
- Fixed the bug that mtp dont worked any more on TWRP when usb cable got disconnected and reconnected
- Modded Kernel for have MTP in TWRP, Samsung Roms and GSI roms (for GSI Roms flash GSI_MTP_ENABLER.zip)
- Reverted FFS MTP changes since new way is more stable
14.09.2019
- Fixed MTP using FFS_MTP in recovery (Thx to @bigbiff for add FFS MTP support on TWRP 3.3.0. FFS_MTP dont corrupts large files like the mtp used by samsung in the roms)
- Removed File Based backups because the phone refuses to boot from filebased backups since they breaks the rootfs
- Fixed completly bootloop issue
- Fixed the data error (was my fault because data was set to f2fs)
13.09.19
-Release a V2 of todays build with a bug fix (recovery dtbo was not included in image because i forgot a string in the boardconfig)
13.09.19
-Reworked Device tree completly
-Kernel Source Reworked completly too and Rebased to ASH2 kernel source
-Fixed the bug with twrp dont boots when phone is encrypted
-System as root implemented right in twrp (note all old zips will not work anymore and the devs needs to update it. Look on s10 threads how the updater script is made)
-Magisk can get updated normaly with magisk manager (make sure you are on a custom rom or a stock rom with rootfs that is intact and not broken or you get a bootloop)
If magisk 19.4 cant boot then its not a problem of twrp but from the rom dev that breaked rootfs support on the system or vendor partition
29.03.2019
-Initial Release
Great work gaet :good:
Amazing work my friend thanks a ton

Does it increase the data/internal partition or root partition if you wipe the hidden and persistent partitions?

Modifying partitions is possible through "parted". Wiping Hidden could bypass the samsung bloatware loading in first boot on Stock ROMs, and formatting Persistent could fix the FRP locks. But I see now that formatting EMMC partition is not possible! (Stupid mistake of mine) I will keep the Hidden wiping option only because it is ext4. Persistent partition is bypassed in CM-12.1 from source anyway.
TWRP Updated
TWRP has been updated to newest version with the following added features:
Wiping options:
- Support to wipe Hidden partition in recovery. (Samsung's bloatware loading)
Backup options:
- Support to backup existing recovery.
- Support to backup Modem.
- Support to backup Firmware.
- Support to backup EFS.
Miscellaneous:
- Battery management improvements.
- UI scrolling/display improvements.
- Kernel stability fixes.
- Change external SD mounting name to "sdcard1", just like in CyanogenMod.
Also moved download links to Android File Host for stability reasons.

CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub...
Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! These builds are experimental and can contain Bugs (as listed above). Make sure to do backups.
Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our Discord server! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
5) Please keep bugreports to this thread or Discord. Do NOT create a Jira ticket. This is still in early development so we don't accept any bugreports yet.
Requirements:
You need 1.5 GB of system partition and emulated storage for ROM installation.
Not sure how? See on this post.

FAQ
0) Known issues:
- Call recording only records microphone
- Device encryption [I have no idea how to fix it, sorry]
1) Yes, it is rootless.
Do not ask me when it will have implementation for compatibility with the old SuperSU application. Do not insist.
2) Magisk:
Adaptation possible! But to be successful I have to synchronize the cr-7.0 code on the PC and 150GB of space is needed, which I don't have at the moment.
As soon as I can, I'll do it.
DON'T ASK ME WHEN, PLEASE.
The i9100 Kernel (3.0.101) does not support namespace to work. Please, do not pollute the topic with that kind of question.
3) Bugs:
Did you find a bug or problem?
Make a logcat and put it in pastebin/hastebin. I'll look when I can
You will need a computer, adb installed, usb debugging enabled on the smartphone and a usb cable.
Here's how to do it here.
1. Open Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Linux/macOS).
2. Type:
Code:
adb logcat -d > carbon-logcat-dateoflogcat.txt
This will save the log to carbon-logcat-dateoflogcat.txt.
4) MindTheGapps or NanoDroid MicroG?
Does not matter! But... the NanoDroid is lighter. Recommend!
5) I love MicroG, but I also like the Play Store
No problems! After MicroG installation, you can use this Shadow53 installer for store use.
P.S: This should be done after you have restarted the device with NanoDroid installed.
6) Why use the dark mode to prevent wear on the AMOLED screen?
8 years baby! You will not want to put a generic on your cell phone, right?
Upgrade from Samsung stock ROM to latest build using ODIN 3.13.1

It is without root, as said in the second post. LineageSU does not work.
On stock ROM i9100 (there was never anything else) I made an instruction with post #3 but nothing happens.
My system is Windows 10 PRO.
Edit.

0.2b Start Odin 3.13.1 in your PC.
0.2c Connect your phone via USB to your PC.

This is not a crash, just an incorrect redirection.
Enter "ambient" in the settings browser and open.
It works.
used with both gapps and microG.
MicroG is really recommended... with GApps the phone just crawls while microG is fast enough for daily driver!

In NO way it is compatible with Snapdragon variants including but not limited to American(U/A/T/P/V), Chinese(0/8/6), Hong Kong(0), Japanese(SC-*), Canadian(W) variants.
Special Notes:
1. DON'T FORGET TO ENABLE "OEM UNLOCK" (located in Developers options).

Read my how to root thread in general section
I didn't got the TWRP to Work so next thing i did was :
OEM Unlock
Unlock Bootloader
Factory Reset (because of unlock bootloader)
Setup Device and install Magisk Manager.
Download Stock FW
Extract Boot.img
Put Boot.img on to phone.
Patch boot.img with magisk manager.
extract output file name it boot.img.
Create TAR file of boot.img (boot.tar)
Flash TAR file with Odin AP slot.
Now Succesfully rooted
Sigh... when we only got the Exynos variants here in Korea, TWRP was only released for Snapdragon. Now that Snapdragon is released in Korea, TWRP is only available for Exy XD
Still, job well done~

Yeah turns out what I have is the source code for that version. I just downloaded the US version someone backed up here and I'm hoping that it works on my UK device without too many issues
ROM has passed the SafetyNet check.
I guess we need twrp for infinite reboots if change something and the system does not like it.
Otherwise you just have to reflash and lose everything.
Does this rom have built in signature spoofing to install microg?
been really hanging to try this one, but also been looking on and off for months now for said 61.0.A.23.20 rom with no luck.
any chance someone can point me to a download link for this? I had already upgraded way past this version using OTAs and now I'm just stuck with this.

Hello
Possible to flash this on SM-t297?
Been looking for a ROM for T295 for quite some time now. Stock ROM is sluggish as hell so resorted to flashing this.
Not that it's a big issue, but the Calendar still crashes even after first boot (saw in the Issues part that it only does that during first boot) but yeah, everything's good so far.
EDIT: Not sure why but just noticed that Netflix isn't showing up on Play Store. Was able to pull up the app page on Play Store by searching on Chrome first. On the page, it says that the device isn't compatible with the version of the app.

There's no way to root this tablet on U4 bootloader on OneUI unfortunately, you can resort to installing an AOSP Phh GSI where PhhSuperuser is available.

Many thanks for giving us this option to work with.
Like the user above I'm having issue with wifi. The wifi toggle switch works, but wifi does not process.
The message "Turning on ..." shows up and remains there. The circle animated processing indicator besides the toggle switch does not stop animating. This was a dirty flash.
Again, many thanks.
