im using the pixel experience rom. Using whatsapp as an example, i dont get notifications until i open whatsapp. is the phone "optimising" my apps. I have set a few apps to "non-optimised" and still doesnt work. Did a test and most of my messages sent to me were 1 tick and until i open the app then i will receive the message. I am using GBwhatsapp if this helps.

I've been unwillingly receiving some advertisement sms which charge my account once the sms is opened.
Is there a way to delete an sms message without opening it?.
TIA

yes, maybe some kind of code you can send to your operator/advertisement-sender which can stop the automatic messages, i know that kind of msgs sucks just find a way in google, i know different users experience that alot
You can download "SMS Popup" from the market. However you will need to manually configure it into "Privacy Mode" (or something similar). Once done, you will get a popup everytime you get a message, along with 3 options to "Open Message", "Delete" (without opening) or "Go to inbox".
I had the SMS POpup on my stock ROM but don't need it now on MIUI...
Thanks.
Are you sure it doesn't open the sms?
The android market page for this app reads:
NOTE: SMS Popup does mark message as "read"
so as far as the mobile carrier is concerned, the sms has been received & read, so it will still charge for those spam sms.
@mike,
pls refer to my previous post - the app opens the SMS by default - but once you go to settings and enable privacy mode, it won't read the msg. A message is not marked as 'Read' as long as it's in privacy mode and you don't specifically open it. (Even the LEDs will continue blinking till u don't open the message)
It's a free app, so u can download and check that out.
Thanks for the info

SMS popup is nice, but does it show a history of all the sms, like the stock sms app on A2.1 does?
Also, to avoid duplicate notifications I've unchecked the "notifications" in the stock sms app, but it no longer shows incoming messages in the messages log. is this a bug, or is this related to sms popup "hijacking" the sms?
TIA
Hi everyone,
I've noticed something since I updated my phone to kitkat 4.4.2 (it's a Z1 compact).
Whenever I use another app than my default app to send SMS, eg. I'm using SMSPopup, Glowfly or event another "real" SMS app along with my default one (let's say hangouts or Handcent), I have duplicate sent SMS, that means I have twice my sent messages in my list. I didn't have this issue on JB.
I tried to tweak access/read/write permissions via AppOps but the result is still the same. I now have to use the same app for popups/Notifications and SMS. Other SMS apps are useless because they duplicate the text messages.
Does anyone has the same problem ? How can I fix this ?
Thanks a lot !

Make sure this is set correctly:
1. From your home screen, open Settings and head into “More…” under Wireless & Networks.
2. If running Android 4.4, you should see an option for “Default SMS app.”
3. Tap on that.
4. A window should appear with all apps that could be a potential SMS app.
5. Tap the one you want to use.
(This list is a copy/paste from an external link, DroidLife, which I'm not allowed to link to due to my scarce forum acitivty )
Sorry for a late answer and hope you get, or maybe you've already gotten, the issue resolved.
Hello,
Is there a configuration that I need to enable to open up text and email messages? Currently my watch shows the notifications and when I scroll from right to left it only gives me the option to "open on phone" and "block app". For example, for text messages, I would get a "New Message" notification, but I don't have any option to open the message in my watch. Thanks for any help.
What messaging app are you using? I think only certain ones are supported I use 8sms

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S4 and was using the Samsung messaging app. I tried Go SMS Pro and it shows the notifications as an attachment. I tried turning off MMS and it still comes through as attachments. Thanks.
I use the Messenger app by Google and Gmail app and I am able to read all of my messages on my watch and reply by voice.
Wear messenger is really pretty cool. I bought it for 1.45$ from the play store. It comes with 2 different kinds of keyboards and allows you to reply back directly from the watch.

just use hangouts. i had a friend with a gear live and g watch and her gs4 would not work with stock texting. even the google messenger wouldn't allow her to reply by voice. only hangouts.
Immediately before every notification for new email or new message on fb messenger, whatsapp, etc... I get stock notification as set in settings... so I get notified by the OS that there is a notification by an app... It is so annoying and noisy but I am unable to find a way to stop it. Any help please.

Anyone had any luck getting a 3rd party sms app to work on the Chinese variant?

would like some input on this as well. I've removed the stock sms app and made Google's sms app the default one. the only problem is these pop-ups get in the way when I send and receive messages, but it does work. Enabling the Disable Permission Monitoring setting in the developer options will get rid of the pop up when you send text messages but the Hint pop up will still be there when you receive messages. Others have said to sign in to Oppo ID to fix this but I am signed in and it still happens.
