Probably about 30 ft
Bluetooth devices have around 10-15m... So expect a similar distance.

With my old smart watch I could walk to the 50 yard line from the end of the in zone. With the watch facing the phone, 30 feet if it was on the other side of my body. And same for my BT headphones
Purchased 2 versions of IR sensors from eBay, 1 that is supposed to be iPhone only that plugs into the headphone jack and one for android that plugs into type c jack.
Will these work?
i never trought it can be exist a "plug and play" ir sensor. You said you 've purchased it, so when you receive that, could you post your experience here please?

Sure thing and why wouldn't it? IR is a pretty dumb sensor (At least I think so). Will post my experience
Update:
Just now received the sensor I'm the mail. Plugged it in, downloaded the app and voila it works!

Can you post some pictures of it working?
Pictures of both the product and the app?
It's plug and play in the sense that it works like headphones and microphone. There's no difference to the phone. The app handles the IR logic by "listening" and playing sound through headphone jack.

Don't see how a picture can capture that... More like a video. I'll see what I can do
Could you also post links to the ebay listings?
Thanks!
I'd be interested in this as well.
Just bought https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bas...083.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.3da24c4dsSCLb3 and it works on my OnePlus 5 device by using ZaZa Remote app.

Ordered the same IR device. It arrived yesterday but I can't get it to work.
Could you please post your settings in phone and ZaZa app to make it work?
Thanks.

I own a Sony Android TV, a newer model, and it worked fine. I've tried on a older Sharp TV but it didn't work on that one.
Anyway, you must make sure you open ZaZa Remote app, insert the IR device in the 3,5 mm Jack port AND switch the IR device slowly until the phone detects it as if you inserted your headphones (there are instructions on the device's package). Somehow, switching the IR device in the 3,5 mm port acts as a on/off switch.
I have no special settings in the app but I remember I've played around with the IR driver settings. If you swipe from the left part of the app to the right, there is a bottom button about IR driver. Play with that one and try.
Now I don't have the device with me so I can't give you more specific details.
Kind of forgot to update this.
The second IR sensor that I ordered arrived and it's wayyy better (Connects via Type C and uses OTG)
I can use stuff at range unlike the AUX connector.
But it's also 8 times more expensive ($~11)
Could you post a link to the one you bought please?

IR device needed power supply for working, so make sure put volume to full so it can get power supply... But it's only work for small range, because OP5 dose not giving enough power supply to IR device for long range. Try it....
Hello Xiaomi users ( or not ) ,
I recently purchased Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and from the first day I experienced some weird headphone not being recognized after plugged in audio jack .. while I was turning the headphones around sometimes it worked but if I accidentally touched the audio jack with my fingers it got plugged out.. I tried over 5 headphones! It's fully up to date and latest miui.Is it a hardware issue and does anyone else have it?
I think it's hardware.

it appears to be a manufacturer problem.. nothing we can do .. well we can hope Xiaomi send us a new version of the Redmi note 5 with a better audio jack but that's not happening..
Hello, I have broken minijack port in my redmi note 4 and all the time my phone is thinking that I have my headphones connected but it's not and I would like to ask if there is any application with root that would force my phone to use speaker?
Okey I found it :silly:
Hello mates,
I have poco f1 and i need to buy type c earphones ,
my question is type c earphones will work fine with poco f1 or no?
Thanks.
I had read somewhere of a user having success with the USB Type C earphones from HTC. I may be wrong so do wait for someone else to chime in with more solid info.

I guess no DAC was included for the USB port in F1 because of the presence of the 3.5mm jack. If true passive adapters won't work. Does the HTC earphones include a DAC?
