Fabric sctrach - Huawei P30 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

My P30 pro came out og the box from fabric with huge scratch on it. And several small around the bezel.
The scratch vere on the bezel top left.
Anyone Else having this?

What the F? That's very strange. Guess I'll have to inspect mine at the shop. Sigh.

I have visible spots between the bezel and the backplate. You may see it in good light.
I think I may have a kind of OCD since I am so irritating upset about minor details.. ???

Jeans damage the plastic?!

I have noticed on my XS today that on the front of the cap where the engraved xperia logo the plastic has sort of been rubbed so its now shiny and doesn't look matte. I thought it was just a bit of dirt or sweat from my hand but after wiping it, its still there.
I keep it in a screen protector and case, the only contact that part of the phone has with something else is when it's in my pocket, so is this the jeans causing it?
Rather annoying tbh, anyone experienced this?
I don't remember sony said that the phone is scratch proof

I wouldn't expect it to be scratch proof, but JEANS!!! Come on, that's a joke...
Mines off for repair but I didnt notice anything on the bottom bezel(also the only "exposed" bit on mine.
Are your jeans very loose? Its a big phone and I tend to wear regular or skinny fit jeans so the phone moves very little, maybe with very large pockets it would rub more.
With 1 week of usage, my XS is really good in this point.
No problem here, my case fully protects the phone I guess
Not that loose, I think its more from the repetitive taking phone in out of pocket as it rubs against the inside of the pocket.

I to have this problem. On mine, it's the smallest part on the left hand side of the plastic. Like you I thought it was some dirt or something but it wont rub off, so i'm assuming that its the crap plastic. Quite annoying though, had my x10 for 2 and a bit years and the only mark on it is where i dropped it and it took some of the plastic of both bottom corners.
Oh, and i don't ware particularly tight or loose jeans. But the pockets are not the same material as the jeans are they so could it be that?
I know that jeans can have a sandpaper effect.
I first thought when reading the title, that your phone had damaged your jeans
Because that is possible too (talking out of experience with another SE phone with less rounded edges)
@dclark16
Yeah its quite a joke, I've also just noticed that the corners and edges of the phone are a dark shiny black...
@kaizokan
Ahaa, yes that reminded me of my K850i which made a big white L shape in the top corner of the jeans pocket
Its impossible that jeans can damage any hard thing.
Maybe little sand in your pcoket or something?

um...the jeans fabric is pretty abrasive, close to sandpaper.
So yes, nothing is scratch proof if you scratch it against a sandpaper.
The matte finish is a joke on this. Not durable at all, scuffs etc way too easy. I had mentioned a few weeks ago that under light use and good care that there were shiny areas appearing already. I have had other devices for 3 months that have looked better than my S after 3 weeks. (My X10 was far more durable)
Sony hasn't bothered to answer me at all, not that I really expected them too.
I have order a couple of more cases, etc but I will also be ordering a new bottom cap and battery back for when I resell it.
To be honest, I have seen some reviews of the One X that has the same issues, although not quite as bad.

Definitely agree with this, after all the noise sony made about how great the anti stain coating is...
I should take an eraser to the finish and see what happens... I'll bet it polishes it.
It's the same on mine and on the back cover around the camera. Shiny marks from the belt bag and a leather pouch. So the coating is very easy to get marks.

Same thing happened to me.

well the anti-stain coating does not mean anti-abrasive.
the point is understand the texture of jeans fabric is very coarse and act like a sandpaper.
The plastic case is to cry..
I have an black one and its now like an 2 years used phone..
Also the backplate is cheap o plastic..
But the screen is ok

The plastic they use must be the usual glossy stuff but with a matte coating (the way matte LCD panels are made).

[Q] battery cover peeling?

hi guys,
i recently noticed that there is a layer on my battery cover which seems to be peeling off of late, near the top of the cover where you normally take off the cover. anyone else facing this problem?
Several people have reported this in the past, you need to be careful to not over flex the back when removing, replacement aren't expensive though
ah its because of flexing... doh! thanks!
do you know about the paint on the rim of the phone then? a little bit of the blue paint has sorta chipped away even though its always been in a cover. really weird.

Same again really,I believe they use a laquer coating so it's prone to peeling, just one of those annoying design flaws, I believe the s4 bezel is aluminium
you've been a real help, thanks!

Standing Clear View case causing scratches?

Ive heard some complaints of people saying that the Standing Clear View cover is causing scratches on the screen in the corner area where the circle on the lid of the cover is. Is there anyone here that has experienced this? Also, could you post pictures of the scratches?
If you've used the cover for some time, and DONT have scratches from the circle, I would love to hear from you too.
For how long have you used the cover? Do you keep your phone with other stuff in your pockets/purse/whatever? Are you happy with it?
Yep just noticed them recently. They appear as a cluster of horizontal light scratches in the area of the magnet. Took it to Samsung store and the first thing they ask is am I pressing down on the magnet...
I've used the clear view cover since I got the phone 3 months ago. No scratches on the phone's screen, but the outside of the cover has a couple scratches now.
Usually have the phone in my (relatively clean) pocket.
I guess it's something to look out for if you're near sand or such like, but it isn't a problem on normal days.
Yes - scratches where the disc touches the screen. It's possible that around the disc dirt got in and I didnt notice. I do clean off the screen and the slightly rubberised inside daily but I still noticed scratches. Also the rubber coating on the inner left side (the bit with the disc) is starting to come off on the screen. A few times every day I have to clean the screen of this coating in the 4 corners.
I've had the case on since day one. nearly a year now. Very annoyed that a £50 case has done this.

Paint chipping

Anyone suffered any of the paint coming off their s9? Despite being in a Spigen Rugged Armour case abs and not dropped a tiny bit of the black paint has come off the left hand bottom corner
No issue on my device...still looks brand new
I have a similar thing happening to me my phone has always been in a case and the paint is coming off from the fingerprint sensor, I took it to ubreakifixit and they said is not covered under warranty
https://www.the***********.com/samsung-galaxy-s9-fingerprint-scanner-chipping-off/
Same thing same phone. But it works.
Actually you have to clean the case time to time,As dust gets stuck which can scratch the paint easily
Mine has a little chipped paint around the band very small but it shows silver. Not a big deal just irritating could take back since only had five days but not worth the hassle.

S9 plus slight body finish imperfection.

well there is something I want to show you guys that has been bothering me for a while now, I didn't want to share it before cuz I find it rather ridiculous since I am the kind of person who notice things other people usually don't. and i'ts most likely my OCD just kicking in.
there is a very slight imperfection near the headphone jack where the glass meets the metal, it seems like a small bend, I'm not sure. here is a video of it.

does anyone has experience with anything similar ?.
could it be just the painting process? I can see that some people online are experiencing some paint pealing off. isn't the aluminum andonized though. whats funny is that there are some micro scratches on the device here and there but they don't seem to bother me as much as this. my friends can barely notice it.

I guess you don't use a case? I use bulky OtterBox cases and I couldn't see the issue you're referring to even if I tried.

my phone has been in a case since day 1. in spiden neo hybird. the thing is that you can only see it under certain light. I believe it came from the factory this way. it looks like it's machined this way or something.
it seems that this slight imperfection is present on all corners near those white bands but not on all S9 plus colors though. only on the shinny variant liliac purple and gray. the black doesn't seem to have it. mine has this corner worst than the others but I can see all the corners are suffering slightly from this looking at the phone directly with overhead light.
I even watched a disassembly video where the guy removed the glass back of the phone and I can see how it's has a bend near the white line in the corner. I think it's part of the manufacturing process of the aluminum andonizing of these colors. since I think the aluminum frame is made from a single block. since unlike other phone that use a plastic buffer between the metal and glass there is no way to hide the machining imperfections which is expected I guess.
Had this on my s8 also silver model.
Did you peel the plastic protective strip off? (Hint: you didn't, I can see it).
