Help on getting LTE band 3 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I'm outside us where my carrier network operates on band 3 for 4g service. I was able to browse using 4g then(though some work around by a guy) but on upgrading to VRUGOF1 bootloader, I noticed that the supported bands are 4 and 13 (using qxdm) and I didn't back up my former radio. please, any help on getting LTE band 3.
previously on I545VRUFNC5 bootloader
now on vrugof1

The only guidance that I can think of is to flash the NON-HLOS NC5 Firmware Modem from the following thread.
It should work since they have only the Modem Firmware files.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3740093
In case you were wondering... Flashing the Modem doesn't directly affect your firmware that you currently have installed.
Good Luck!

[Q] X10a T-Mobile Firmware & Rom Question

I downloaded Xperia_X10_Firmware_TMobile_UK & Xperia_X10i_2.1.A.0.435_TMOB-UK_GENERIC_1238-8324
Would I be able to install both Firmware & Rom to use with T-mobile USA?
Would this also remove the AT&T lock and accept my T-mobile card?
I haven't tried it yet,I figured I'd ask the experts.
Thanks

the x10a was made for AT&T, you must first sim unlock the device to get it to work with t-mobile. you can download x10a firmware from THeLogiC's thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749426
since the x10a doesn't have the aws radios required for t-mobile's 3G network, you would only get 2G at best. good luck & hope this helps.

[Q] How can I get AWS bands back on a bricked Rogers Lumia 920?

Hello everybody,
My Rogers Lumia 920 (unlocked and pentaband beforehand) was bricked mysteriously overnight and I came across the instructions to unbrick the phone. In my NaviFirm search, I noticed that the Rogers ROMs (releases 1232.2109.1242.1002 i believe) for the RM-820 have disappeared as there are many screenshots of them which were posted a few weeks ago. As a last resort, I flashed the AT&T ROM onto my 920 and I have lost the ability to use my phone on Wind mobile and all other AWS networks. Does anybody by chance have an already downloaded Rogers ROM they could share with me? Are there any other roms for the 920 that don't have the AWS bands disabled?
Thanks in advanced!

I just posted links to the Rogers firmware at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36686433&postcount=8 .
However, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there are reports of the AT&T firmware fully disabling the AWS bands, even if you re-flash the Rogers ROM afterwards. Maybe the posts I've seen are wrong, so by all means give it a try and please let us know the result. :fingers-crossed:
Good Luck!
Wow, thank you so much!!! I'll try it and let you know how it goes.
You have just made my week
Edit: Yeah, the band is still disabled on the Rogers ROM. CURSE YOU AT&T!
Does anybody know how to do a total clearing and re installation of the Rogers ROM then? A bit of a stretch, but hoping this phone won't have to meet Craigslist or something, I love everything about it minus the fact it doesn't work on my network.
Thanks again!

After reflashing the rogers rom did you do a factory reset? I really doubt that flashing an at&t rom permanently disables the aws band even after the original rogers rom has been flashed again. That would mean the at&t rom changes a very secure low level area of the phone and it just doesn't seem that likely or anything I've heard of happening before...

By factory reset, do you mean going into about and reset my phone? If so, yep, I tried it and it didn't help recover the aws band. Is there any way to access the system root of the phone, or am I dreaming at this point? Thanks!

Yeah that's what I meant for a reset. The only other way I can even think of getting the AWS back is possibly finding a dialer code that would let you select radio bands. I want to figure this out too b/c I have a sim unlocked at&t lumia that I want to flash the rogers rom to so I can get the AWS band.

I really have no idea then... But I'm 99% sure after flashing dozens of phones from different companies that the AWS band is not permanently disabled. We just need to find a way to get it back on. Problem is it's probably going to take someone with more technical skills about windows phone 8 (probably searching thru the root directory) to re-enable it.
someone would need to post the baseband of the rogers model and then you can flash the baseband and get your aws band back.
I read somewhere that all the lumias 920 are the same on hardware side, that they only have different softwares and firmware on the inside; rumor has it that if you could get the firmware and baseband that nokia flashes into the dev phones, you could convert any lumia 920 into a dev phone with anything unlocked.

If flashing the att rom to a rogers phone installs the att baseband (which disables AWS) then reflashing the original rogers rom would overwrite the att baseband with the original rogers baseband (should re-enable AWS) so I don't think that is the issue.

The AT&T baseband seems to stick though, maybe the AT&T rom has another file that has no equivalent in the rogers ROM that's sole purpose it to lock out the AWS band. Hopefully we can get this fixed soon, I'd love to love the Lumia 920, but at this rate, my eyes are starting to turn to the 8x.

I don't think the rogers firmware includes the rogers baseband, as the baseband is the one that controls the radios and frequencies of the handset.
One can install a firmware without a baseband and viceversa

The baseband for my stock at&t 920 with the portico ota is 1.0.202075.3. Someone who has a stock rogers 920 that didn't flash the att rom what is your baseband version? (about - more info) Then we need to compare and see what the baseband is on a rogers phone that has lost the AWS band.

I just updated my phone to portico and it seems that I've got the same baseband as you. Can anybody with a stock Rogers ROM post their baseband? After updating, my phone popped up with a new message when I put in my wind sim. It said "Phone mode changes. Your phone is now in GSM mode." I have no idea if you can change modes or anything like that.
Hey guys, I just wanted to jump in here and say that I'm having the same issues. I have a BUILD Dev phone that was bricked -> flashed AT&T -> flashed Rogers and the AWS band is disabled / vanished.
I've contacted Nokia Experts and was told the only option at the moment was to get me a new phone... and I've been waiting for months, lol. I'm thinking that they're going to send me a standard unlocked L920 without AWS bands but that's a bridge I'll cross when or if I get there... I was also told that the repair center did not have the ability to fix this problem and when I asked for the original firmware I was told they (Nokia Experts) did not have it.
Someone HAS to know what's going on here and how to fix it!
If anyone finds a way to get the AWS band back I'm willing to PayPal them $100. Maybe those with more skill will help if we offer financial incentive?
I'm in the US on T-Mobile for reference.
What we need to figure out first is what the baseband is on a stock rogers 920 that has never had the att firmware flashed on it. If it is different then it looks like you'll have to wait this out until nokia comes out with new firmware that has an upgraded baseband and hopefully that brings back the AWS
What about the base band from a Dev device like mine? If the Rogers would work as a reference point then I'd imagine the Dev base band would work too.
There are several users here with them. I can't provide mine because It's been flashed as I mentioned, but I'm currently running 1.0.202075.3 as well as others in this thread.

Is there a way to port TouchXPlorer to WP8? I think it has access to the system directory on WP7 but I've never actually used it before. That might help us extract the correct baseband.

Flash different firmware for MetroPCS LG L70 MS323

Hi
I bought MetroPCS LG L70 MS323 unlocked. I am from india and i realised now that this doesnot support 2100hz UMTS frequency which is the one in india for 3G.:crying:
Please help whether i can flash different international firmware to make it work on 2100hz band
Thanks & regards
Bands are your hardware so you can't,download the lg firmware update tool to see if your firmware updates.

Hi i read that the phones are made for all markets. So the manufacturer would have just disabled this band for metro pcs
so i was thinking whether by flashing different firmware we can activate this band

I believe it has the 2100hz band. To check all the available bands on the phone do the following:
1. On the dialer, key in 3845#*323# to bring up the hidden menu.
2. Then select the following menus: WCDMA-Only > Modem Settings > Network Mode
3. You should see WCDMA 2100. From googling my understanding is UMTS is built on top of WCDMA. So technically you're good.
Now why 3G may not work in India - One possibility is you may not have the APN settings configured for the local operator.

Since the title of this thread refers to flashing firmware, I've a question: Can one flash the international (D320) firmware i.e. kdz file without any modification on the MS323 phone? Yes I'm aware about the boot loader being locked. But the goal here is to flash LG's own kdz as is - perhaps by tricking the LG Mobile Support Tool. There is a thread that talks in general about flashing any kdz. But it appears to be leveraging the older version of LG tool. Curious, if any one has tried using the newer version or has alternatives ideas if this can be done.
can we unlock the bootloader
hi thank u for the reply. itried the way u told. there is wcdma2100 available. but when i select this it says fail.
but for wcdma1900 it says pass.
i think since metro pcs doesnot operate on 2100hz this may be disabled in s/w.
tthat is reason i was asking bout flashing diff firmware
can we unlock the bootloader ??
thanks

The band may have been disabled via software. If that is the case, you may get lucky. But if the hardware itself is absent to begin with, then the flashing will not help. Unless one tries, one cannot conclusively tell one way or the other.

According to earlier comments#5, the MS323 hardware supports WCDMA 2100 band, but this band is blocked by software.
So, anyone can try this method to unlock 2100 bands.

[Q] band 12 on vzw motoe xt1528

According to spectrumgateway.com/compatible-phones , the Moto E 4G LTE (2nd Gen) XT1527 is band 12 compatible. Can the XT1528 be made band 12 somehow, or is there a physical hardware difference between the devices?
What I gathered reading around here.
* Firmware images are available for T-Mo 1527. However I read that only the 5.02 firmware has band 12 working
* The bootloader is locked on the verizon device
Someone suggested that it might be possible to use part of the 5.02 firmware files for the radio for the 5.1 firmware, to enable band 12, but so far one person claimed that it did not work. . Looking at the number of views this thread has gotten, it appears there is a lot of interest in getting band 12 working on the verizon handset. If any of my statements are not correct, or otherwise, feel free to correct me
Verified the bootloader is locked on my 1528: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-b
* If it was not the case, then it might be possible to flash a firmware which enables band 12. Then we need a way to unlock the bootloader to enable band 12.
