Need help with a hanged Note 5 AI - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi,
I’ve got a Note 5 AI (SD 636, dual rear camera) that I bought used from eBay, so don’t know much about its history. The phone worked just fine for a couple of days, then, and while I was watching a local video using MxPlayer the screen freezed, then turned black when I pushed to power button. The phone got hanged …….…. it was completely dead, couldn’t force it to power off, nothing happened when plugged to charger, no vibration, no led………
The phone came back to life the day after, when the battery has completely discharged……….so, I charged the phone, did a factory reset, applied all the updates and then launched again my video with MxPlayer, after about 30 min…BANG, hanged, and dead again.
My phone came back again when the battery discharged………after a complete charge, I launched my video using VLC this time and was able to loop the video for more than 8H without problems.
I thought to myself that for some reason my phone doesn’t like MxPlayer, not a big deal, I can live with that………. but yesterday, the bastard did it again, and this time I was watching YouTube. So, I’m waiting right now for the battery to discharge.
What annoys me more than the hanging problems is that I can’t force the phone to power off, I tried all possible buttons combinations without success.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks
Xiaomi Redmi note 5 AI (M1803E7SH)
Stock MIUI Global 10.2.2.0
Locked Bootloader

I think you can restart phone holding power button for 10 or more seconds.. once you restart your phone, try to do a factory reset..

Fully discharge it and It will shut down I guess... But if that doesn't work you will need EDL flashing... There is a separate section for Redmi Note 5 AI (Whyred) you can share your problem there.

Redmi Note 3 won't turn on

Hello, yesterday I got my new Redmi Note 3. After hour or so using it, installing apps, adjusting settings and such I locked it and a minute later it didn't turn on (last time I checked the battery was around 30%). I've tried a lot of things: connecting it to my PC, holding every combination of buttons (just power button, just volume down, just volume up, power+volume down, power+volume up, I haven't tried only the volume up+volume down combination). I've also left it charging over the night using my Galaxy s3 mini charger (I live in Europe so I can't charge it here with provided charger) and still nothing, literally no reaction. Then HonorBuy's suport sent me an email that says I have to remove the sticker from the battery, it wasn't until they realised that the battery is non-removable that I have to close the back cover. Then they told me that I try charging it on the computer for at least an hour. Will that help considering that I've already charged it normally the whole night? Or do you guys maybe have some other idea what might be the problem?
I forgot, that hour or so when the phone actually worked, worked perfectly.
Thank you.
did you manage to get your phone fixed? im having the same problem. phone just died randomly.

Any ideas?
Same problem here . any idea?
Can you get into fastboot?
Power button + vol down..
Edit: Sorry, just saw that you have tried that already..
When I had a bad flash a couple a weeks ago my RN3 was totally dead like yours..
I followed this guide wich worked for me: http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=221115
Attention! All your data will be lost..
I'm aware that your phones was properly working, but maybe this is a solution?
Charge from PC USB.
Charge from PC USB.
A Quick Fix
I also got the same problem today...but i mamaged to fix it...Firstly hold vol down and power button...the device will boot into fastboot mode ...secondly after entering into fast boot mode...hold volume up + power for 10 seconds....now your phone will reboot ormally...Thats it...No big deal...
I had the same problem right after I connected the phone with an aux- it died and started heating up. I tried all the above suggestions except the reboot because I didn't want any data lost. All I did was put it in rice for 10 minutes, even though I knew rice is meant for phones when they've got wet. After 10 mins, I pressed the power button and it worked!
Hope it works for you,too.
The same problem is happening with me after I tried to restore a TWRP backup.
I can't really enter fastboot as phone is not charging.
I'm having the same issue with my Redmi Note 3 phone. Just opened it from the box, charged a bit and turned it on. Everything worked except when I turned it off again to charge it faster and later tried to turned it on.
The phone is now completely dead, no charging screen, and it's slowly heating up. Is this a manufacturing error or can I do something to fix it?

This happened to me too. I think I factory wiped in twrp and went from cm13 to miui then it stopped charging.
No amount of flashing fixed it. Fast boot, EDL nothing worked and xiaomi won't help.
I came across only few people that had this but they seemed to suggest some partition being corrupted going from CM to miui. I couldn't find details about which partition though, not very substantial claims.
I read somewhere that it could be a bug of the version of a specific TWRP, but without sure.
In my case, I flashed Xiaomi.eu with success on CM, and after that restored again CM.
CM -> Xiaomi.eu -> CM
I sent it to a (unofficial) repair center and they just flashed the ROM on my phone. Probably using pin test or something similar.

I tried all of that. I had about 80% battery when I noticed it's not charging so I had plenty of battery to flash things. I tried anything and everything that was suggested to me in the xiaomi forums but nothing worked.
Did you send it to an official xiaomi service center?
No. I just sent it to a local generic phone service center. I imported mine from China without warranty.

Well that gives me some hope. Where are you? In the UK the phone is rare so I'm worried that they won't know what to do with it.

I'm from Portugal and it is also rare her but they solve it in a few days with just a small price. Try to find a specialized smartphone repair center near you as it looks like a small issue.
I have purchase new redmi note 3 prime. Very first time when I switched it on after charge it start booting and still continue since 8 hour. Nothing happened neither switch off nor restart even hard boot is also not working. Only logo of mi is blinking on screen.
Can someone suggest me plz.
I am also having same problem. Volume down and power button also not working
I too had same issue. I held down the power button for almost 15 seconds and it booted up

Brand New Xiomi Redmi Note 4 3GB Snapdragon variant is in boot loop for no reason.

I bought a brand new Xiomi Redmi Note 4 3gb snapdragon variant few days ago. Everything was working perfectly alright all of a sudden, after 1-2 days of usage the phone instantly start turning on and off. The phone just shows the Mi Logo and then turns off and it's in this constant bootloop. I wasn't able to hard reset it as pressing volume up and power button at the same time but the issue is that the language screen appear momentarily and phone just turns off again. I even tried pressing volume down and power button and the fast boot screen appears for like a fraction of second and then just goes away.
It's such a headache that I can't understand how can I get it working again.
I even sent the device to the online store that I bought it from. I packed it in the original packing and sent them. There was no way to turn the Phone off so the battery just drained and it turned off. But when the seller checked it they said that the phone is working fine. They sent it back to me, it just worked for 1 more day and it's still again in the bootloop.
I have read that when you are in bootloop then you just let the battery drain and when you charge it again. It'll start working again. If it's correct, still it's not a solution.
PS: I have not tried to root nor installed any custom rom. I just wanted to know if it's a hardware issue or I need to mess with it's firmware.

Your device is all stock and pure xiaomi. So this seems to be a battery issue. You can go to a xiaomi service center, but if that isn't possible you can even send an email to xiaomi customer care. Just provide the bill of the device, and make sure to provide all the details.

Mi A3 not booting in any mode, even no notification light on connecting charger

Hi,
I need help with Mi A3 which was running in Android 10.
Suddenly it shut down around 30% battery and was not booting after that.
Unable to boot it either in fastboot or recovery mode, no notification led on charging also.
It once booted into fastboot, but i restarted to try booting in recovery mode for resetting, but it didn't boot in recovery and later not even fast boot.
I tried following
Try 1
Charging overnight. (didn't worked)
Try 2
Disconnect battery.
Press and hold power button for 2 mins.
Plug in charger while holding power button.
Release power button after a minute.
Connect battery.
PS: It happened on the night of the last day of warranty :crying:
Edit: One strange thing i noted is that when I keep the power button pressed, i can hear some mild ticking sound holding phone close to my ear, on intervals just over 1 sec .
Can anyone help !!!

Sounds like a HW issue, so probably only service center can help. It might be cheaper to buy a new phone instead though (especially if they need to replace whole motherboard).

Hard bricked Mi A3
I accidentally bricked my phone after successfully flashing a miui rom in MiFlash. After flashing on MiFlash, my device stopped functioning. The only response I could get from it was in the miflash. I already tried flashing firmware I watched on...

My Xiaomi Mi 10 literally bricked itself last night. (Help)

First of all, sorry if this isn't the right place to post this thread.
Last night i was playing TFT on my Xiaomi Mi 10 as it shut itself down without any warning.
I'm sure i had more than 20% battery left.
This device is about 1 month old, and it crashed one time before, but i could just reboot it with the power button.
This time though, no reaction.
I tried every possible combination of Volume Up/Down and Power button presses, nothing. No vibration, nothing on the screen, just plain nothing.
It literally bricked itself. I did not root it or anything similar, I just used it normally.
Any ideas on what caused this, and more importantly how to fix this? I can't believe this.

I guess, that your battery is totally empty. Put on charger and leave on it few hours long.

I charged it 4 hours in the night and right now since 3 hours
Call service. Sorry. If it doesn't boot into fastboot (vol-&power) things are bad...
Try plugging in your phone to a computer. I had a similar thing happen to another phone a little while ago when out of the blue it just died. I tried charging it, wireless charging it, trying power buttons etc but it instantly fixed itself when I plugged in the phone to my computer via USB. Let us know how it went.

Try different cable or check if the cable you use is working. Then press both volume up, down, and power button for at least five minutes. It might reset the phone. It happened to me once time not on the mi 10 but my rog phone 2 and I press that 3 buttons combination and the phone booted up again. I know the mi 10 might not work the same way as the rog phone 2 but you have nothing to lose to try it.
Yeah I tried using another cable, although I know this cable works (old phone). I also tried charging it via my PC, I even tried to connect to it via ADB, it didn't show up in the device list after installing the drivers.
Pretty sure I'm going to give it to service, I still got warranty and I even have insurance for it.
Because of that I don't want to open it to get the battery out and back in, although I'd really really like to know what caused this. I literally played a game and zap it goes black never to be seen again... I hope the service finds the cause and tells me.
Anyway, thank you really much for the suggestions and the help. Incase I get to know what caused this I will write it here as long as I remember to. Until then Cheers Lads.
Same here. My step-daughter purchased this phone and received it Tuesday morning. Now it won;t respond to anything.
I was handed the phone with "pcsuite.mi.com" on the screen but upon connecting to my laptop the screen went black and now won't respond to anything at all. No Recovery mode, no fastboot mode, no vibrations, nothing.
From reading reports online from other users, it seems like Xiamoi really "dropped the ball"/"shat the bed" with this model
edit2add (just seconds after posting)
I've also performed "lsusb" to see if the device is alive and there's nothing there either

Question Realme GT 5G just turned off - now in bootloop

Hi,
Just few minutes ago my brand new phone just broke on me. I was holding it in my hand, locked screen, like minute later I tried to unlock it to no avail, screen just stayed black. There was a sound when I touched it by the fingerprint sensor, but no light up from behind the screen. I tried holding down power, then power+volume up, phone only vibrated, no reaction on the screen. I've connected it to the charger, and now it seems to be in bootloop - screen is turned off, and every few seconds phone vibrates. I've managed to somehow turn it back on once, phone booted to system, everytthing worked just fine, then I locked screen and it just stayed black, now I can't reproduce that, can't even turn it off, it's just vibrating every so often. Did it really brick in my hand? Software of Hardware? Everything worked just fine, maybe battery was draining a little bit too much for my taste, (15-20%/hour with screen on+lte/wifi) but 120Hz refresh rate+bright setting and AOD turned on 9am-9pm could do that. Do you guys have any suggestions, or I'm expecting trip to the service?
Sorry, but i cannot guess any reason. I am stumped as this bootlooping shouldn't beb happening... Very strange. May be its better to show it to service center guys.
Btw, i had tried this on my previous android phone to shut it down, like a hard shutdown. I had pressed power + volume down + volume up keys together to shut it down completely. Basically by pressing all the 3 keys. If you want to try, you can try it. I have not tried it on my GT, but had used it on Oneplue 2 and Honor View 10.
Hope your issue gets resolved asap...
Okay, I've contacted support via livechat, they told me it's definetly just software glitch, and to resolve this I have to wipe dialer cache (?) and all system settings - I did it, everything worked just fine, but today, again, same thing happened. First time phone just died in my hand, second time it was while listening to music via Pulsar, today I was just sharing wifi as a hotspot, phone randomly broke connection and would not unlock, but still I could tell it was on, because of vibrations and sounds. Not a software glitch after all? If I manage to unlock it I'll just recover it to factory settings, we'll see if that helps, but I don't like the sound of that.
What apps are -you- installing?
Launchers and power management apps are prime suspects...
Otherwise, mobo failure. It may be firmware but how far do you want to take it?
It should run fine out of the box.
Last time I played with launchers was with good old SGS about 5 years ago, only app out of ordinary was AccuBattery to check that SoT drain, but could it make such a damage without root privilages?
