I just love the cables of WSKEN. I use them on most of my devices.
So also on the MI9... But sometimes I had more battery drain than other times.
I found the problem through BBS. The WSKEN connector activates a kernel wakelock. Which uses lots of energy.
It declares why I have it sometimes because I don't use the connectors all the time.
Now i am on Xiaomi.eu rom. Can other users on different rom with maybe the same cable report if they have the same or not?
Thanks.... It's a shame i can't use it anymore now I know this.
It's the WSKEN X1 Pro.

I think it's better to use wireless charging. I don't know why, but I'm not a fan of permanently putting something into the charging port...

Where do you think the leads of the wireless charging coil goes to?? [emoji848]. And wireless charging generates more heat.
And let's not talk about efficiency.... Wireless charging is around 60% so 30-40% of the energy got lost.
And the wireless charger I have got is very noisy.
I'm not unlocked and rooted so I can't use BBS, but I've got the WSKEN X1 and I haven't noticed a dramatic battery life.
EDIT : There is indeed a wakelock. I believe it might be due to pins being shorted by design. Like CC1 & CC2 (plug detection) being on all the time, and the phone constantly asking ("yes, who is it?") and getting no answer.
I'm writing to WSKEN about this (and dual magnetic cables) to see if it might be fixed in the future.
I use wsken cable for my mi 9, but most of the time it doesnt charge my phone, sometime it does.
The cable works perfectly on my micro usb plug, but not on my type-c plug (for wsken mini1 & mini2)
I've tried the cable and the type-c plug on another phones (not mi 9) and it works perfectly.
But my phones charge normally with the oem cable.
Anyone can help?
Sorry for bumping an old thread.
I'm using WSKEN mini 2 cable and the USB-C adapter on my Mi 9 which works flawlessly, no drainage and the phone charges every time.
So @24ilham I think that you might have a faulty USB-C adapter.

The drain is not very noticeable, but I got it too and decided to remove the USB-C Plug.
As I said in my edited post, I believe this comes from the 4x4 USB lines on the outside being fused towards the USB-C inside, which got 8x8 pins. To be reversible, I believe they are shorting VBUS and CC1 or CC2, and since it's used for Power-Delivery negociation, the phone is constantly asking "Ok, you're a PD Charger, what are you capable of?"
Unfortunately, the plug is too small for me to test removing a CC2 pin, and trying to find if it fixes it.
Someone with a lot of patience could try to use a USB-C cable with splitted CC2 wire to extend a plug, but... a lot of trouble.
@24ilham I believe you have a faulty USB-C plug as well, I have never had a problem with mine.

Hi,
My Atrix does not have any Problems with charging when connected to my PC, but it just wont detect the external Battery i own.
It shows no reaction, when the Battery is plugged in via USB and then turned on.
When the phone is off and the battery is connected and turned on, the phone will boot, but still not charge.
I was trying to find out why the Phone won't accept the Battery so I measured the outgoing Voltage: 6,3 V
Note: 2 out of 2 other phones (1 running Android) detected the battery and charged from it without any issues.
The external Battery was really expensive since it comes with a large solar panel to charge it, so I really ought to get this to work!
Does anyone have any Idea what I can do to force my phone into USB-charging mode? Or how to make it detect the battery?
Greetings,
XxHunterxX
(running 2.3.4 with Gentop, rooted, unlocked)
I know
And I tested today. You must put resistor about 200OHM or just short data pins (2 and 3) in your charger or cable. I really recommend to put resistor. Interested thing is that after phone is connected you can remove resistor and charging will continue.

Thank you VERY much for your effort!
Why wouldn't you recommend just shortening D+ and D- on the Type-A-side? what could happen? Wouldn't that just make the resistance infinitively high?
Also, Why does it work with other phones, if it's the battery's / cable's fault?
I know those are a lot of questions, but I would really apreciate it if you took the time to answer them.
Greetings,
XxHunterxX
Edit: just realised I misunderstood Zeljko. I thought by "short data pins" he meant to clip them off so they couldn't connect to the device
Of course he meant short circuiting them^^
Because shorting electronic circuit could damage it. Better safe than sorry. I tested today and even 330kOhm works.
Other phones obviously doesn't care about data pins. Probably Motorola wish to protect phone from low quality third party chargers.
I followed your advice and soldered a 200 Ohm resistor between D+ and D- coming from the Mirco-USB-side.
I just insulated the D+ and D- of the Type-A-USB-side
I actually followed a REALLY useful (German) Guide for things of this type: Sorry It appears I can't post links...
Sadly, I can't test wether it works at the moment, because my phone is being repaired (touchscreen broken).
If you are interested I can tell you wether it works, as soon as I get my phone back.
regards,
XxHunterxX
I know it works, I tested by myself
Could you send me link? I think you can post link around code tag or picture or just figure out somehow
Is your charger a Minty Boost? I have a Minty Boost and it always over heats when i try to charge my Atrix :\
:EDIT: Also I tried shorting out D+ and D- with no avail. It charges but quickly overheats

It's cheap chinese charger. I just used it once for testing and I didn't noticed any overheats. I bought it for cycling but I'm traveling a lot and unfortunately I don't have time for long ride.

If your charger overheats then the worst you can do is short the D+ and D-!
Because then your phone will detect it as a charger and will draw not only 500mA, but even more so your charger will overheat even faster.
You should probably just buy a charger that isn't so cheap
Anyone seen it?
The ones sold are 1A which is rather slow for charging, i plan on using it for GPS + music so i'm not sure if 1A is enough to charge it.
The only 2A wireless i've found is this:

Ohh, you can purchase a USB car charger with two USB ports. So you can charge you phone with your USB charging cable and also charge your GPS or Tablet.

There are a few threads that cover wireless charging. You find some info there. You are not likely to find a 2Amp wireless charger.
- Wireless charging will be slower than wired.
- It is more inefficient and produces more heat
- Most devices are limited to charging at something under 1Amp or even 500mA (as to minimize the heat produced).
- A custom kernel may be able to raise the charging ability of the device, but probably not over 1Amp.
No matter what you do 640ma is the charging current so a 1 amp charger will work fine

2Amp charger powers the pad. The pad puts out 1Amp to the device.
Like I said there are threads discussing wireless chargers in this and in the Note 2 section. The Note 2 section is little older and has lots of info. It even discuss that Samsung charger.
I had two chinese W.C that worked pretty well with my old nexus 5 now with my new G3 i can't make them work properly...both of them start charging for 10'' then they stop and they starting again and this is happening all the time...
I dissasemply one and put the grid right above my G3 back cover and its doing the same...
why they aren't compatible with my G3??they are low on power?or simply aren't compatible with my G3??thanks!
Just watch a review about the original LG wireless charger...with 1-Amp it does that same thing but when using G3 own 1.8-amp charger, it works fine. So it just seems to get too less power...

1500 mah is the same as 1.5 Amp. That's referring to the power of the charger you connect it to. If you connect that charging puck to a 1 amp (1000 ma) charger, or less, it will do what you describe.
Also try different USB cables. I've found some cables just don't transfer enough power, and cause the same problem.
i have stock wireless chager .. its good :good:
So is the trick here just to use the charging cable and AC adapter that came with the G3?
The Powerbot charging station I got works fine under any condition with my Nexus 7, but I get the above described error with my G3. I tried different cable and AC adapter combinations to no avail (not sure if I tried my LG cable with adapter on this one). Plugged into my work computer with one of the USB cables that came with it, it worked fine. For one day. The next day, it kept giving me problems again so not sure if it’s just the phone, some annoyingly precise placement, or just the charger itself (again, no problems with the Nexus 7).
I just received the ChoeTech wireless 3-coil wireless charger today. With the included cable plugged into my work computer, it was giving me problems. With the short cable that came with the Powerbot, my phone is now charging.
This off and on is kind of a headache.
Hey guys, just wanted to know if anyone could recommend a brand that offers 2.0 quick charge on the go. I did some homework and the names Powermod and PureGear seem to pop up the most. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
I had the powermod and it was slightly too small for my car outlet so if you bumped it then it would stop charging. I think I had a lemon but anyway I bought the incipio one and haven't looked back
Also, can I use any USB cable to receive the turbo charge? I'd hate to keep hauling around cables from my house back into my car.

I use this one as well. Any USB cable will work. I tried an old ASUS cable with my wife's Note 4 and it said a quick charger was enabled. That flat gray cable it comes with is really stiff and I drive a manual so it was always getting in my way when shifting. I switched to an old USB cable I have that's more floppy.
This doesn't sit flush with the port though even though the design makes it kind of look like it does. It sticks out about a centimeter or so. It would be super hard to get out of the vehicle if it sat flush.
Thanks for all the replies! i've decided i'm gonna go with the PureGear
http://www.amazon.com/PureGear-Qualcomm-Charge-Extreme-Charger/dp/B00QQPG57K
Pretty cheap on amazon and I like the design, will report back with my opinion on how it works
Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but does anyone know a very good quick charge 2.0 car charger with at least 2 USB ports? One port could be quick charge 2.0 and the other port could be normal or whatever.
I saw the choe one that has 4 points but its getting mixed reviews and I don't think I really need 4.
Thanks guys.
Yes just buy a power converter and use the OEM wall fast charger that came with phone.
Definitely not trying that in my car....
There made for cigarette lighters. Its perfectly normal. Most new cars have them built in.
I wanted to get the Ventev dashport charger, but they seem to be out everywhere, or ridiculously expensive in the places that do have them.
I want to try and get one thats as flush with the socket as possible, because theres already very little room in that spot in my car.
Found these two:
Aukey 4.8A / 24W Dual USB Car Charger Adapter for Apple and Android Devices (The Smallest but Most Powerful Car Charger in the World)
SCOSCHE USBC242M 12 Watt USB Car Charger for iPhone/iPad/iPod Lightning/Micro
I admittedly don't know much about, and neither of these are QC2. I was just wondering if anyone has used, or knows if they would work good. Would there be much of a diff between them and a QC2 one?
I'm looking into AC charging adapters and want to buy the one that will charge the phone the fastest. I've found a 20 watt, 5 volt, 4 amp one. Is anything more even powerful even useful?
TIA

The PHONE asks for the power from the charger.
If the phone doesnt ask for more than 2amps, for instance, it doesnt matter if youve got a 100amp charger, it wont give it any more than 2amps.
panyan answers ur question.
However you can reduce the charge time by looking into buying a quick charger 2.0 as the S800 supports this. I repeat: version 2.0! 1.0 does not work with S800.
Details here: https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/processors/800
For example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Qualcomm-Ce...682?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35ec14a922
or
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Qualcomm-Ce...187?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d333ddd6b
will work with the phone. I don't have any quick charger so I don't know how much faster such charger act compared to a normal dc adapter.
The main advantage of buying a charger that has more amps output is that the unit will not heat up as much as compared to a 700mAh-1.5A charger. Because it has more performance to give than a smaller charger which is always going at full throttle.
But as panyan said. Your phone won't use more amps even if u buy one that can output like 20 amps..
And as many here has noticed. In the lollipop roms charging the phone is now ridiculous slow. Instead of 2 hours as we saw in KK roms it now takes like 4-6 hours.
In kitkat I topped 1,5A but now I get like 400mA-650mA. Dunno why they changed this in lollipop..
The disadvantage is just a miniscule thing to not even care about.
A charger with higher amps output can have a higher idle current then a smaller charger.
Instead of using something like 0,1W per hour a larger charger might use 0,15W per hour.
There's no linear formula for how it works but it can happen.. you might care about care about this if you are a controlfreak with the elecric bill.
This only applies if you leave your charger in the socket all the time like I do. Some people unplug it some just leave it in ready to charge the phone next time.

Thank you! Finally someone bought one!
Now we have the answer. Quick charge does not work.
Edit:
I saw something about that quickcharge has the same connector BUT it uses 7 pins instead of 5 as a regular micro usb cable.
And looking into a microscope I can see that the Z ultra micro usb port has 5, five pins.
So the missing part might actually be an hardware issue here?
Värt att notera är att Micro-Flip inte har stöd för QuickCharge eftersom kontaken endast har fem stycken pinnar framför sju stycken, vilket krävs för turboladdning
