Hello, I came here because I need help with removing something that someone put in my phone when I fell asleep. It happened when I was factory resetting it and I accidentally left it as it is, with no lock.
Then in my sleep, someone put this and when I woke up, I checked everything and found nothing. But after awhile of using my phone, this appeared: "autoSettings.ini".
At first, I went to Android Stack Exchange for help but nothing helpful except on the suggestion that I got that it might have came from plugging into Windows. That gave me an idea on how something was put into my phone but still, no answers. Then I factory reset this, but it kept reappearing no matter what. I then left it as it is, after many factory reset, no passlock.
But then, suddenly one day while I was doing something, the TV turned on itself and I saw a code on the corner that said "LG-X230K" and was surprised and ended up climbing upstairs only to find my phone was used, with YouTube searches that was there that was never typed by me before. Thinking the person took off the thing, I proceeded to use it. I kept using it until just today, autoSettings.ini appeared, and remembered VirusTotal and decided to upload it there. See attachments for results. Nothing was detected with the antivirus and see pic below on details. I apologize if I didn't put the encode the link into the text. I then saw in the details "CRLF" and began to search it. What I found was Bluetooth. I then had a thought about changing the properties of the .ini into .txt. What I found then enlightened me. I then searched a couple of words I found in the .txt, nothing. I only found a thread in that led me here after I searched "autoSettings.ini Android hack" and this thread helped me realize what it is, albeit I didn't understand it. I then saw in the categories of the topic "Low activity devices" and remembered seeing it when I searched about "LDB Android". I made a connection and thought I'm getting there. I thought about making a thread on AndroidCentral but thinking that I found autoSettings.ini in here, I decided to make an account in hopes that I have better chances of getting answers here. Right now, I can only read but not edit the .txt file. I would love that someone helps me with this.

Infinite bootloop after CarrierIQ research

O.K. This really freaked me out. After finding a post on GSMArena about someone who had discovered that Google had a keylogger app on Android phones, I thought I would see what the app was all about.
I watched the YouTube vid included in the article and thereafter pulled up the app on my phone which showed 0 bytes of info as if it were not installed. No clear data, no force stop or anything. So i thought I'd try to install the thing. Got a message saying that the install failed(which is a message i've gotten with other default Android apps I've tried to install)
To make a long story short, i just exited back to the home screen as usual and since it was about time for me to start work and we aren't allowed to use our cell phones at work, I just turned my phone off. When I got off work and turned my phone on-Infinite bootloop of the start-up screen.
Had installed Titanium backup and can't get to restore screen.
There is something really serious going on with the CarrierIQ app.
Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated as it looks as though I may have to buy a new phone.
This is not even slightly a hardware issue. you've posted in the wrong forum. I requested this be moved to general or android. reload firmware.
Yes, reload firmware.

Can't find ANY information on this app: GSEM.apk (Google Secure Element Messaging)

I'll try to keep this sweet and short... I accidentally downloaded some random .apk whilst browsing on my phone, but I did NOT have it installed, and Lookout promptly labeled it as a threat. Anyway, since then, I got kinda freaked out, as a seemingly new service popped up on my phone (it was only running about 25 minutes compared to everything else running 7+ hours) which was called Google Secure Element Messaging. The service or whatever is com.google.android.apps.sem, and the actual apk is GSEM, as noted in the title.
I'm making a thread on it because I can't find a SINGLE piece of information on this thing, and hopefully this'll help anyone else who is looking.
So... what the heck is this thing?
Anyone?

[Q] Galaxy S3 boof loop.

So, just want to say; I have pulled the battery out and left it out and such, can enter recovery and download mode.
The problem occured today when my friend had ahold of my phone and was checking out my apps and saw "Root Browser" and I said it browses all my files. I guess he wanted to see if he could find any form of porn on my phone. Any who, he fiddle farted around, foumd a document that was 157MB or 175MB and was like hey do you want to delete this? (my phone kept saying I only had 200mb freespace left and a bunch of files were taking up like 11GB idk how.) and I told him sure to get free space and he didn't say what the name was. He later told me it was firmware that he had deleted. But before I had any idea it was deleted I powered my phone off for about an hour or two and went to class. I turned it on, and it would vibrate ~3 seconds, say Galaxy S3 and then boot loop again, and won't go any farther. Is there any way to put firmware back on my phone with odin or anything? Because my parents have no idea my phone is rooted, so I really want to avoid contacting Verizon and trying to get a new phone. Also I want to try and keep all files. I could factory reset, but with common sense it's telling me that will delete every photo, text, contaxf etc.

A Small Portion of the Touchscreen is Unresponsive

As stated in the title above, a section of phone decided to stop working during the afternoon today (as of this post). It was working completely fine in the morning, but suddenly it just kinda killed itself.
I can't seem to post any links here yet since I'm a new user, but here's the url to post manually: puu.sh/Fw03B/780c6eadc7.jpg
So yeah, anyone know if there's a fix for this? I've already tried various means and even factory reset the device. Or should I go get it repaired/buy a new phone/bear with it?

Bypassing startup password

Hi, new here and I am hoping you guys can help me. I tried the sticky tread, but no response.
I have a problem and can't seem to find a solution.
Yesterday my phone had some problems with the camera and suggested to restart the phone. Did so, but now it is asking me for a password to startup the phone. I forgott my password and came to my last try. If I get it wrong this time, my phone will reset itself, deleting all the data. Is there a way to bypass this first password?
I am finding stuff about how to unlock a lockscreen (for example: https://android.imyfone.com/remove-screen-lock/unlock-motorola/), but I haven't even reached to that step yet, at least I think. Maybe I am seeing/understanding things wrong.
My phone is still the way it came out of the factory, so no rooting or USB debugging. It's a Motorola One, no idea which android version it is running on. I bought the phone in 2019, so I am guessing it's running on Pie or higher, if possible Sorry, I am a true newbie at this.
From the Netherlands, sorry for any typos..
Please help!
This may come over as if I am trying to use someone elses phone, but it is mine. I can prove it. I have proof in the form of an invoice. I will show it if needed.
Please, there are photo's and other personal data on the phone. I don't want to lose it unless I have no choice. Maybe somebody knows a way how to get my personal data copied to the computer? Then I can perform a hard reset. Please help me..
salam aleikum,
we both seem to have the same problem.
my phone is not from factory, but from a Basar.
It looks absolutely new, no scratch.
But when i started it first 2 weeks ago, i could not even get past start menu.
It has a "Lock Pattern" and it is still registered with someone. But obiously it is used before, it came without Box or Manual.
Ive tried hours and days to get it to work.
But all i can find is people on youtube that bypass the password, but for me it doesnt work. I have no idea what Android version it is running, but the Glitches that i found where people go from "foreign keyboards" to "Feedback" into Chrome and appstore dont work.
I can not return it, do i only have expensive Trash now or Is it Possible to Install AndroidOS again and overwrite?
I tried factory reset and know now how to go into the BIOS.
I have never done any Modifications or Rooting to any phone, im okay with computers.
But from reading here it seems I have to know exactly what version my phone is on or its possible to break it completely.....
I saw the Bios_Menu "install from disk"
So i guess if i get the right version an a memorycard maybe i can do like a windows or linux "format/c" an have a fresh start?
I dont have money for a new phone, curretly i still have a wiko lenny 2 but the display is broken an i can only use half of the keyboard.
Always need to turn the screen and every message or google search takes one hour.
Please just tell me YES or NO
i will learn it myself but now im really frustrate by this.
EDIT: Through the keyboards i managed to get to feedback section and found this infos:
Package Version: 26751214
Package Version Name: 7.5.12.211120031release arm 64 v8a
Adnd some others

This is one of the videos/methods i have tried.
Sadly when I click on share it does not open youtube app and i cant discard the update message.
Will search his Channel..... EDIT: FOUND A NEW VIDEO WITH NEW GLITCH TWO DAYS OLD - DOESNT APPLY
Edit:
That vieo is 2 days old, but If I Follow his instructions and use the glitch to go into app list and click on settings i dont have 3 clickable buttons, only 2 of which one is gray.
I have Disable and Force Stop
He has a third button "open" settings......
same with aller APPS in the list there is no "OPEN" button.
