GSI ROM? - Oppo Realme 1 Questions & Answers

Hey, i was about to flash GSI Rom in my realme 1. I forgot the steps, so i had to look back in here but when i opened it i saw a message stating that it has been closed. I wanted to flash new rom into my device buy why did it says it has been removed?!

Also i have one doubt
There is this thread titled 'list of GSI rom' for realme 1, There are so many roms i just see that, I wanted to ask that can i flash any rom from that page? I mean, is it developed for realme 1?

Looking for a guide

Hi guys,
I just left the Apple for the droid world (Honor 9 C432). I used to change my phone rom using cutom rom int the past (far far away...) like 8 years ago on an HTC...
But now on my honor 9 i'm a bit lost on the steps i have to follow to put custom rom.
My needs is to leave EMUI to an official android rom (oreo) or lighter (maybe RROS or lineage).
Is there a full guide that explains step by step the proceed to change the stock rom to a custom one ?
As always, thanks for help.

Well i just come back from my ophthalmologist and it seems that my eyes are ok.
If i ask it's because i don't understand the steps order, sometimes i see i have to backup before doing unlock bootloader and to backup i need to install TWRP but to install TWRP i need to unlock...
In the past i used to have full guide like for example :
To custom you need :
A memory SD card at least X GB
A PC with Windows or OSx or whatever
Those softwares (dl link)
1/ Unlock mobile blablabla
2/ install this softwares
3/....
Thanks for helping.
Try asking in the ROM specific threads. The existing guides are what they are.
Usually, you need som sort of basic phone modification know-how before you take on XDA forums.

Ok thank you fregor, i search on the net for tutorial i have find some to learn basics but they were wrotte 6 months ago and some deals with EMUI 5.
Does they still valid for EMUI 8. ?
Thanks
I would say : yes on the main lines, not in the details. the name of the image ( system , boot, recovery..... ) is not the same, for example.

If you're going to change rom, go for Oreo...
I suggest you begin with OldDroid's thread on how to install Oreo (it's in this section as well) to update to EMUI 8.
Then, if you want to really leave stock, after you're on EMUI 8 it's as easy as downloading a file and using a fastboot command on your computer. You have RR (Android 8.1) or AOSP (Android 8.0), both threads are in the development section.
One very important thing, not only you have to unlock your bootloader (which takes you a couple of minutes) but you have to unlock FRP (translation - Go to Developer Settings and toggle Allow OEM Unlock)
I suggest you do this first, then setup a Huawei account and go to the official website to unlock your H9, fill up the required info and you will have the code and the extremely noob-friendly instructions on how do the thing.

I install pixel experience 9.0

After restarting it again install all setup , when restore setup come , it's restart again and again,
This problem comes after restart REDMI NOTE3
AFTER FACING ALL PROBLEM I DONE RESTORE FACTORY RESET AND AGAIN REINSTALL THEN IT WORKS BUT AFTER RESTARTING I FACING ABOVE PROBLEM AGAIN
Please give me solution
1 st your posting in development thread which is not the right place for your query.
2nd Which device have you this is for Mediatek devices and there is not a Pie rom for them.
3rd Look at PE Thread and you would see it is a problem with the rom, flashing the VoLTE patch fixes it. Or wait for rom update.
Oh dear - you've done goofed up - Hennessey-based devices (Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 - MediaTek Edition) doesn't get anywhere near as much development as the Kenzo-Kate devices (Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 - Qualcomm Snapdragon 2GB/3GB RAM Editions), and Android Pie isn't even developed for the MediaTek version of the phone.

Don't go around asking for stuff, we don't get paid for this, you caused a problem, you're the one who needs to fix it, no one has any obligation to help.
That said, if you had read the thread instead of just downloading the ROM you'd have noticed tons of people with the same problem and all have been given the same solution, flash the VoLTE fix.
Also, you posted on the wrong forum, this one is for mediatek based devices.

No you don't install Pixel Experience 9.0. It isn't available for this device (henessy).
If you have kenzo or kate, then you want the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 [Snapdragon] forum.

Be careful for now to flash anything (bricked phone)

Hi,
Just for say, to be flash your phone carefully ! I flash today a rom (test) and phone go to BL ( Poco logo) and after try to enter fastboot/recovery, phone wont boot ( Black Screen) without any reason
Now it goes back to the shop for repair ( edl certainly )
So be careful for now
For a phone with level3 api for cameras and a (supposedly) released kernel source at launch they really seem not to be wanting us to modify the phone.

You have no idea what are you talking about, so.....read before being rude with people who wanna get some help or warn us to not do what they did. No disabling AVB is necessary when TWRP for Poco X3 is used for flashing stock or custom ROMs. Format data is needed in some scenarios. The only thing you NEVER wanna do is downgrading to an earlier Android version ROM (from Android 10 to 9, 11 to 10 and so on). So, chill out and keep reading

Is there a post that states what you must not do, or must do when flashing ? Would appreciate it - previous phone was Redmi Note 3 and I could flash whatever i wanted willy nilly. Would not like to brick my new phone.
For example: ROMs for the Poco X3 mosly have the 12.0.2 firmware requirement, but i updated it to 12.0.3 already. Would i brick my phone if i flashed the custom rom anyway, or if i flashed the older 12.0.2 over 12.0.3 ?

Downgrading brick: https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-anti-rollback-protection-brick-phone/
Seems it's safe to use MiFlash because it will not let you downgrade, but when you use TWRP it helps to read this article.
In other cases, just read carefully and follow step by step the instructions offered by the developers for their ROMs.
I'm not an expert, btw. I just read a lot lol
MOD EDIT: QUOTE REMOVED
"flashing anything in an unlocked bootloader, requires from user to disable AVB (or flash a null vbmeta.img) before you boot any flashed rom ... otherwise = brick !" - WRONG in the case of Poco X3!!! The downgrading part was like a general warning, not for Poco X3 specific (even it's true for Android 11 to 10 downgrade). Seems you can read, but to understand what you read is a problem you have. I can't help you with that, sorry

The reasons Xiaomi phones get bricked when rolling back to an earlier version is because of the "Rollback Protection". Xiaomi implemented this, not to prevent modding, but to prevent resellers from flashing global versions of ROMs (which include google apps) to newely released Chinese models not available outside China. They bought phones in bulk, flashed global ROMs and sold phones as if they were running official software. So never downgrade to ROMs based on older firmware sources than the one you have on your phone!
I think poco x3 has NOT ARB.

[Curtana] Does flashing a custom ROM compel disabling force encryption?

First of all, I'm really sorry if this thread would turn out to be a dumb enquiry. I am new to intrinsically customising my phone and only have been using this device (Redmi Note 9S EEA Curtana, MIUI Global V11.0.4.0. QJWEUXM 4/64 GB) for 10 days. I've successfully installed root and TWRP on my phone after having thoroughly researched relevant information. The only thing is all my efforts regarding the removal of force encryption have so far failed. I'm inclined to install a custom ROM, e. g. LineageOs or Evolution X.
1. Is it a necessity to have encryption permanently disabled so that the flashing process proves viable? Currently, I'm only aware of a method which has its effect limited to the the period the phone is in recovery. It involves formatting data and then installing Magisk and thus I need to go through the set-up again. At the end of the operation, encryption is enabled again. I have no clue why. I've tested loads of no verity opt files, none of them worked in a proper way either.
2.Will installing a custom ROM eliminate root acces (since it performs a reinstallation targeting the entire system, let alone the patched boot image)?
3. In case something goes wrong, what's the correct procedure to return to the factory ROM? Is re-locking the bootloader a prerequisite? (See this guide https://c.mi.com/uk/miuidownload/detail?guide=2, for example. Notice how each of the stable MIUI releases there are marked with ★ next to them, meaning they're locked. I didn't quite grasp the message they were trying to convey with that explanation though.)
I'm conscious that's a lot to ask in a single thread, however, unlike myself, the majority of users here are supposedly tech enthusiast and probably have encountered similar difficulties on several occasions.
I hope that I've provided enough information and the thread has been named reasonably.
(Priority: detailed answers within a month would be great.)
Cheers,
Hsjaai
Just format data: twrp->wipe->format data write yes->reboot twrp and flash rom.
If you got error(red lignes reboot twrp and format again).
or
delete all your lockscreen security before flashing but to install a new rom you must format the data before.
Thanks for your quick response, honestly I didn't expect anyone to be this early to react.
As I've already mentioned, in TWRP there's a workaround for temporarily disabling encryption using the first method, the latter one doesn't seem to function as intended - that may be the case on newer devices, according to an article I've come across.
One last request. Could you please (briefly) answer my two other questions as well? How do I reinstall MIUI if something breaks down? Is the flashing apparatus provided by Xiaomi reliable?
I'll keep you updated on my progress,
Hsjaai

Thank you so much once again for the help. What should I do if the worst-case scenario arised -essential parts of the file system got corrupted so that the phone wouldn't be capable of booting into system? Uninstall magisk via zip and then make use of the fastboot tool?

With Magisk app
I'm still unsure about something. Will the custom ROM be installed without hassle if I unroot Magisk at the beginning (meanwhile leaving the custom recovery intact, of course)? No guide seems to deem having root installed as a prerequisite. If you answer that, I'm really embarking on the flashing process.

Installing a custom rom (aosp or Miui) requires a data format (erases all data and creates a new partitions if necessary) which will remove root anyway, but sometimes root + twrp creates problems (can't mout the partitions) it is therefore to avoid this that I recommend you to unroot before.
In all cases (Aosp or custom Miui) magisk is installed last.
Which ROM do you want to install?
I'd like to install LineageOS first and see how compatible it is.

I may consider flashing CherishOS instead, seems neat and the monthly updates appeal to me.

v11.0.4.0. QJWEUXM is a turkish rom(android 10)
V12.0.2.0.RJWMIXM is a global rom(android 11)Firmware base for AOSP
It is better to use Miflash and install TWrp after.(dont relock the bootloader).
Are you sure v11.0.4.0. QJWEUXM is the Turkish version? I thought it was EEA (the one tweaked for European countries). Installing the Global version seems alright, but why does the MIUI version has such a great effect on the outcome of the flashing?
Is that because both Cherish OS and the Global version are AOSP-based?
