IMEI Sticker leaves mark - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

So, I picked up a Mate 20 Pro which I set up yesterday. It came with all of the pre-applied factory stickers including a large square one on the rear which when removed leaves a large square mark on the rear of the phone.
It came off cleanly so there is no residue , I have tried using a screen cleaner wipe to clean the back of the phone but it is still there, I am wondering if the sticker has removed a coating.
Anybody else seen this on their M20 pro?

There was no sticker on mine, but try a dab of eucalyptus oil, see if it's a fine layer of residual or the coating.

I had the same problem, but now after 6 months the mark has completely gone. Probably it is nothing permanent in your case too. It's just the glue...

Try using some rubbing alcohol

Just out of curiosity, what colour did you go for? Mine is Twilight with the smooth back and didn't have that issue. If yours has the rough back I'm guessing it's just some residue.

Thanks all. It is the twilight model.
Still visible but starting to fade I think. After a mistake I made trying to clean actual residue from a previous phone I am erring on the side of caution here!

Questions About InvisibleShield

I just had someone at Radio Shack install an InvisibleShield for me and there are little water spots on the screen (under the protector). Will these go away with time? I also wanted to know if its safe to use my phone while the water is going away and everything is clearing up. One last question, is it ok to put my phone back in my Otterbox Defender case or will that interfere with anything? (I took off the screen protector that comes with the case)

the spots go away with time.. and your all set to put your phone back in the case
The water spots should go away, depending on how big they are. My motto is: If you're paying $15-20 for a screen protector, put it on yourself and make sure it is right. Your phone should be fine to go back in it's case, just try to determine if the edges of the case rub up against the edges of the screen protector. If it does, you may experience some "fraying" at the edge of the screen protector from it rubbing on the slight movement of the case.
Edit: I have always used my devices after applying these protectors and have never experienced any illeffects.

They will go away will look nice to as long as no dust or lint was on the glass at the time.

Just a little update: only about 13 hours has passed so far and some of the water has already evaporated! There are still small amounts scattered throughout the screen but I believe that they will also go away.

I always put my phone under a desk lamp with the old style light bulbs that get hot 60 watts....about 30 minutes later all water gone no spots. Not sure if its bad to do but I've done it to a dozen or so phones no problems yet.

Having problem with dust :(

So recently i noticet dust on top of the phone and the botom between the bezel and the screen there is little dust but i am affraid thit the dust will become bigger so is this a problem or a comon thing on a SGS3?
Not if it becomes 'too much'.
Now some dust will get there, it would be easy to clean too.
However if the gap is big and attracts too much dust, get a replacement.
For example, in my first S3, there was too much dust on the left side and the bottom.
My replacement doesn't have the problem. (replaced because of screen issues, but it was a double fix )
So i have this phone for 20 days and i can say that i can see the dust under sunlight or a bright light and its pretty much the bottom of the phone the sides and the top seem to be ok they have a little dust but nothing "visible" like the bottom maybe the dust gets in the phone cause 90% i have the phone in my pocket (school,at home so almost everyvere i keep it in my pocket) maybe i shoud get a pouch?

If that is the case (not excessive abnormal amounts) put it in a pouch and try to expose it less to dusty areas, clean your pockets from dust too, it does get stuck there.
Anyways, all the dust can be easily removed with a fingernails or some alcohol swaps / needle.
Yeahh that is what i thought but i thought my phone is defected as you can se my case is plastic and it doesnt cover the top and bottom maybe i should get a silicon case that covers a little the bottom and top, also here is a photo that i took with my bro's Ace 2
I'm guessing you have the pebble blue version?

Lol that pic answered the question! It seems this only really does on the dark coloured phones, mainly pebble blue, some people reported uneven gapps between glass and bezel

I don't think it's worth worrying about, it just shows up on the dark background, try and forget about it or do what I do.........put on an apron, put on some Burt Bacharach, get the Hoover out and do ya thang!

How do you manage to clean it i mean with what the only thing i could stuck in there was the original foil of the phone the one that came with the phone as it is the only thin enough to enter in that area

I'm using a lens camera cleaning liquid and a lens very soft cloth and wipe from left to right and then from top to bottom. You can use some air spray too or a pump if the dust can't be completely removed. It's working for me. Btw, there are some very resistant dental floss, one side is like a needle, is used for interstitial space between teeth, and you can pass it thru that small space if you can't clean it with the cloth.

what i do when i get dust on some really hard to clean edges on my phone is that i use a sticky tape to do the trick.
to make the dust stick on the tape, you gotta press on something "thin"..
it's kinda hard to explain but it'd be easier if i had a cam near me so i could show it to you guys through a picture

Cleaning the back of the phone

Hi guys
How can I clean the back of the phone. I need to remove the residue left behind with the protective film from the camera and also the imei sticker. Any suggestions on how I can maintain and remove this?
Thanks

I use the alcohol pads that you buy at Costco for cleaning your eye glasses... I open a pad. Clean both pairs of glasses then my phone screen . last I wipe off the phone back.
I open a second pad to clean the screens on my three tabs. Morning a night time ritual. Works great. They come in a box about the size of a shoe box and have 200 wipes. They are called wipe-n-clear. About 9 bucks for 200.
just freaking great for electronics.
I use a solution of 50/50 alcohol and water wipe the back down with this using a micro fiber towel. Works like a charm.
When I get out of the shower I towel off and use said towel to clean the front and back of my phone. Works just fine.
Thanks guys.

Removing light scratches from camera lens

Hey guys,
Im a proud owner of an HOX+ and im definitely satisfied with it as it is my first smartphone. However it is a quality product, it seems that the engineers tried to save some money (or whatever the reason is) and made our camera lens protector from plastic.
Due to this maleur, i started getting unclear and fuzzy pictures with a purple lane on the top, after a half-year use. I surfed over the net and found some solutions (use toothpasta, banana and more unbelievable methods).
I used Sonax's chrome and alu pasta with a regular nano wipe. It only took 1 mins, you have to push the wipe quite hardly, but you are not at gym so do not destroy your phone i did it clockwise and the result was a totally clear, unscratched surface.
After the process some pasta remained near the lens, i removed it with a corner of a paper due it is thin, but be careful not to screw up your work.
To prevent further scratches, i placed a round shaped piece of a screen guard.
Sorry for my english, its not my native language

Did this a few months back and I was afraid it would scratch. But it didn't, it seems the lens is more resistant without the coating
Same here, it works with toothpaste. I used lens cleaning paper since it doesn't disintegrate like tissue. Then carefully removed excess paste by wiping with a moist tissue.

I used some plastic scratch remover stuff, made for car headlights. Worked great, took all the scratches right off. Its been 6 months since that, been more careful to keep it from getting scratched.
And does any of you know a trick that removes the scratches from the screen?
Sent from my One X+ using xda app-developers app
I'm sorry to be that nitpicky, but will any kind of toothpaste do? Or simple white one?
I've got some scratches on the lens cover, nothing serious yet but I wanna be prepared to do this when the time comes
I'm definitely going to try this. What kind of cloth did you use to rub it in though? Is a tissue fine?
Ive used the bag of my sunglasses. It is nanowipe so it's tender enough. Do not use anything made of paper. I don't know anything about the toothpaste method.

Fingerprint reader damaged surface replacement?

Received an almost pristine S9+ to find the fingerprint reader has a chip in the centre of the pad.
Anyone managed to replace just the surface with one from another sensor ??
Is it definitely chip? Mine after some time developed some cracks/scratches. I scratched it off completely and this was some kind of protective layer. I replaced this with sellotape. Still working fine. Of course I need to replace sellotape from time to time.

Its the purple top layer, chipped off in the centre. Replacement sensor on its way, wondering if painted or glued on layer....

That's a very interesting idea lol. The paint/protective layer of mine started to peel off and it was failing to read my finger way too often.
I removed all of it and it did improve the accuracy, however I do notice that it gets hand moisture easier and it requires me to clean it often
I'll try a piece of transparent tape, see if that helps xD
