[HELP!] System UI won't start after tweaking Quick Setting Tile - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I did a stupid mistake this afternoon. I downloaded the System UI Tuner app and tweak the status bar to only show ONE quick setting tile upon first swipe down (obviously wont work but idiot me still think that it is a good idea to give it a try anyway). Upon pulling the slider to 1, the System UI crash immediately and only show black screen and everything stopped working. I am desperate now and really need kind people here to help me troubleshoot this to reset System UI to get it working again. I will list down some informations below.
Device:
Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2
Just updated to Android Pie today
What is working now:
- Power Menu
- Safe Mode
- Google Assistant
- Stock Recovery
- Fastboot
What is not working (Can't find a way to make it work):
- System UI
- ADB (USB debugging was turned on but I cannot authorize my phone without System UI)
- Unlocking the screen
- Boot loader not unlocked
- Internet (Data was not on before crash and WiFi require me to sign in)
What have I tried:
- Turn it off and on
- Boot into Safe Mode
- Wipe Cache in Recovery
- Flashing (dirty) the same firmware again with recovery
Kindly request if more information is needed for trobleshoot.
Of course, the last resort is to do a factory system reset but I really wish I can keep my precious stuff in my phone... and also I've set up my phone to act as 2 factor authentication for my Google Accounts which I might be a problem if I reset my phone.
Thanks In Advance!

S2 stuck in call mode

I've searched around the forums and so far, most of the results were people having trouble with their phone getting stuck in recovery/boot/download mode.
My phone, however, is stuck in the call mode where the keypad takes up most of the screen. Everything else is working fine with the phone, as I can see unread text messages and other programs that running and notifying me of updates in the background. Wifi and data work fine as well.
The problem is, I can't get out of the call keypad mode and into my home screen with all my apps. I've tried restarting, turning it on/off, taking out the battery, and charging it via USB to the computer. Nothing is working! Please help :crying:
Clear data on phone & if that doesn't work maybe try a factory reset ?
Do the following steps below:
- Boot to CWM recovery
- wipe cache partition
- wipe dalvik cache (under advanced)
- fix permissions (under advanced)
- reboot system now
This issue sounds familiar......like a launcher problem. I have 3 fixes:
Clear data of your launcher
or download another launcher, by trying to get to your play store app by universal search or from the playstore on the pc
if strangely none of the above works, flash another rom or reflash your rom if you like it that much
Note that this message should have been the 1st, cause if im right the two solutions you recieved above should work. The problem is if your running stock ics 4.0.4, you may end up with the emmc brick bug if you use recovery or do a factory reset. We dont know what your using since you never told us.

Lock screen Not Changing from Swipe

In order to sync with my work account, I need to have my Lock Screen enabled with either a pin or a password (NOT swipe).
Whenever I select PIN, it asks me to input the pin and confirm, which I do - but when the screen exits it still has Swipe as the selected Screen Lock setting. Same happens when I try to set a Password.
I tried to boot into Safe Mode (hold vol dn while booting) and that had the same results. I tried rebooting a couple times, no dice.
Has anyone else had issues setting a Screen Lock!?
Additional Info:
I recently upgraded to NC5 with Root via Surge1223's method with a MK2 bootloader from the link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2726868
Additionally, I tried removing my work Google account completely, and uninstalling the Google Apps Device Policy application. When I go back to Settings>Lock Screen>Screen Lock: The only selectable options are PIN and PASSWORD - which is what I would expect if my device policies were still activated. The other options like Face Unlock and Pattern are all greyed out with the phrase "Turned off by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage.
Ugg. This sucks! My next option I guess, unless someone knows of a work-around, would be to completely reflash the phone again. Just annoying.

So I went ahead and Factory Reset and Flashed the NC5/SU/Update-through-odin again.
And the options are still greyed out!
I'm thinking something is left over from the first time I encrypted my phone before I originally flashed the referenced updates the first time.
Can someone help me completely reformat all of my partitions? How can I completely get rid of any residual encryption?
Found some details saying that the wipe within Safestrap/TWRP doesn't always work correctly.
*Booted into Samsung Recovery (stock version)
*Wiped Factory Reset
*Wiped Data
*Wiped Cache
*Attempted to install the NC5 update through Stock Recovery - got errors saying the footer was wrong plus some extra stuff, but the phone reset.
*Quickly held the buttons to get into Download mode (was worried about losing root)
*Attempted to boot into Safestrap recovery but went into normal boot (didn't get the option)
*Phone boots but Pin/Password are still the only options (and won't engage either; Swipe always stays engaged)
*SuperSU still installed (???) If I did a full wipe, and never reinstalled, how is that possible?
A helpful XDA user pointed me towards this:
=====================================
Change the following in build.prop found in system folder using a root explorer app. Es file doesnt seem to work so try another.
security.mdpp=none
To
#security.mdpp=none
================================
This fixed my inability to get the pin/password to be selectable (and allowed selection of all other options as well)
However, whenever I select device encryption again, I simply get a big green Android encryption screen, and the phone goes black, then resets.

Automatic soft (re)boot issue

My i9300 seems to have lost control on (soft?) boot:
- I flashed a 5.1 omni ROM that made me very happy because really stable enough for me to use multiple apps at same time.
- One week after, I started getting unwanted soft reboots (skips Samsung boot screen), leaving me approx 40s of system use before 5s freeze followed by reboot.
- These soft reboots are weird: if I force shutdown (power menu OR removing battery), the phone boots anyway, by itself!! And I think this is still soft boot because it still skips Samsung boot screen.
Additional info:
- I wondered if my power button was messed up but I don't think so: I would not have this freeze before reboot, plus I have no reboot while in recovery.
- I saw some SMS problems: received one from my provider, and I kept receiving it again at each reboot (same one 50+ times). Any link possible?
What I tried without success:
- Remove SIM and SD card
- Remove battery for a day
- Change battery
- Re-flash recovery
- Wipe System + Data + Dalvik/Cache then install paranoid android (now I can't even boot in anything else than recovery btw)
I'm lacking android system knowledge but it looks like there is a location in "soft reboot zone" that is locked, and the phone keeps reading it and rebooting infinitely. Is there a way to clean this? To forbid soft reboot maybe? Note that I've been flashing various roms for 3 years on this phone and I never saw anything alike.
Any advice is welcome, thank you for caring !

That SMS thing is strange
Have you tried another recovery version? Or perhaps changing recovery? This isn't a normal issue, since you already tried installing another ROM.... You can try another Kernel either
If none of this works, consider flashing the original Samsung's ROM or some samsung-based ROM (they usually do a nice clean-up, at least for me these ROMs fixes the majority of my problems)
@blint6:
1. Maybe the hardware though. This you can test by flashing actual firmware and running it under normal conditions for 1d.
2. Reboot is a known reaction to RAM-lack on LP, too. Flash Omni cleanly and run it for 1d without GApps and bigger apps.

Help! Android crash when try modify Quick Setting bar (or how is called..)

Hi to all, i just join xda community. I discover this beauty place last week, looking for a guide to root my xperia z5c (E5823).
Well, i've done it, and all runs perfectly except for QS bar. Let me explain:
i want to change icon on quick setting bar (also called on/off switch button bar - or just the upper bar where you can find wifi, bluettooth, airplane mode and so on when pulling down on the sceen..) but when i tap the pen icon to modify the bar, all freezes for a couple of seconds, then get a black screen, then i have to Reboot the phone. The icons works, what i can't do is to change their order and do all what the pen icon let you do.
I remember i had a wifi issue after root my phone, and looking for a solution i found this well known issue on magisk site: i had to flash another boot.img.
Is my actual problem coming from a boot.img problem or what? I don't realy know what to do. I don't want to use external tools (such as shortcutter), i want to solve this problem. Any idea?
My phone is an Xperia Z5 Compact, model E5823, running stock ROM 32.4.A.1.54.
About flashed Kernel, it is, as i read in phone's informations: "3.10.108-Green_Kernel-v1.16_PR.
JUST TO LET YOU KNOW WHAT I DO FOR ROOT:
- Unlocked bootloader
- I wanted to totally reset my phone, so i used the Xperia Flash Tool (Emma) to flash the stock original firmware (3.24.A.0.160)
- Start the phone like if i just bought it, configured it, and let it install the software update 32.4.A.1.54.
- Now i'm gone for the root process.. Flashed TWPR recovery, flashed kernel and magisk, reboot, root access taken.
- As first thing i removed pre-installed apps Spotify and YouTube just by deleting their folders from system->app, to install then YouTube Vanced app.
EDIT: searching a solution, i tried to get a log and try others kernels. Nothing to to do with kernels, also icons are no more visible, but touching where they should be the system perform their action (on/off wifi for example). Also, when i connect to pc and use command "adb logcat".. Well, now i can enter the modifying menù and change icons order or if show them or not, but if i unplug the phone i'm again at the main problem. Tring again i notice even the easy command "adb devices" let me enter the menù, solving (always only until connected) the problem. What the hell is happening???
