Hey guys,
after a couple of days with the Z2 I really can't wait for Cyanogenmod to arrive. Although I'm very happy with the hardware, the ROM leaves a lot to desire.
One thing that does seem to be better with the stock ROM is the camera. Between the 4K video recording function and the various other functions that come with the stock camera I was wondering what prevents us from getting the stock camera on a 3rd party ROM? Wouldn't it be possible to extract everything from the stock ROM to another ROM?
If that's not possible, what good alternatives for a 3rd party camera are there? Any recommendations?

I just tried the cinema app they offer and sadly it is limited to 1080p and a max framerate of 30. These are really two features I'd like to keep. Still gonna try the camera app and compare it to the stock app. Will post the photos later tonight.

I don't know any good app for 4K video but Camera FV-5 is pretty good for stills...
Hello
I would like to know how to edit android to fool an application by switching the camera into the kernel?
I have an application to use a frontal camera but a want to use a UVC camera.

Hello, my question is which camera apps are you using to get the best out of the camera? (Can be a paid or a free app)
And an example picture would be nice!
Thanks [emoji106]

Stock camera and camera fv-5 for more settings, I always buy pro version. Regards Bert

Stock camera and Cameringo+.
I believe you can't improve the camera results changing the app. If camera is bad in low light, it will stay bad even changing the app
Thanks! I will test those apps

Z camera. Seems good to me but I'm not the biggest picture take...

Google camera and the standard P9000 camera (found the slow motion option today, just a shame it's not 720p)

Also using Google Camera. It seems to offer the best/fastest UI and UE and takes good pictures in HDR mode.
What version of google camera are you using? If I install Google Camera 3.2.045 from apkmirror.com it keeps crashing all the time.
Video recording crashes with Google Camera 3.2.045 (for MM Roms) & photo quality is very bad (dark).
Installed ported HTC 10 cam apk, no quality difference to CM13 camera.
Anybody saved the stock P9000 camera apk?

The Google Camera works on Cyanogen Mod
A Better Camera
I use "A Better Camera".
These app hasn`t worked very good with any of my smartphones before - but with P9000 surprisingly it does.
Edit: Forgot to mention, that I'm on CM 13 final build 13 right now.
While the CM13 included camera app is relatively fast and great for quick-snap photos, I did manage to make some impressive photos while playing around on EMUI camera in Pro mode (before I flashed the phone), looking suprisingly good for such a low tier camera.
Since there's no manual mode in CM13, which camera app would you recommend to purchase/download(if free)?
Also, is the HDR bug guaranteed to occur in every app?
Thanks in advance!
Snap Camera works great!
How do u get SnapCamera on CM? Can you just flash it or..

As far as I'm aware Honor 5x nightlies don't include the Snap camera yet. It ships with the legacy Camera, which takes mediocre pictures and can't do HDR or Panoramas.
Google Camera is available for Panoramas, but the accelerometer/gyroscope is very jittery on the phone, so the stitching doesn't do a good job.
I don't think this issue is gonna be resolved until Camera2 API is ported into our CM nightly.

I do think the same, it's about software, not a specific camera app
I tried putting the ro.camera2.prtabilty.force_api=1 in the default.prop file by splitting boot.img and reflashing boot.IMG, putting manual focus line in build.prop and then flashing the ported emui 4.0 camera with twrp... Still badluck as it says Unfortunately, camera has stopped working
Just use Cm marsh(cm based costom ROM ) comes with snap camera
Update
Now use it on any ROM
Camera App ported

I've found that, no matter what camera app I install, I can't get the same picture quality I used to get on the stock ROM. Is there a reason for this? The drivers, maybe?

I guess is the camera processing is different on stock ROM from custom ROMs
Just wanted to ask a question to anybody who has upgraded to Android 12/OxygenOS 12. Is the ultrawide camera usable as an AUX camera in apps like GCam? Or is it still only accessible through the stock camera app like in Android 11. I would also really appreciate if somebody with Android 12 installs the "Camera2 API Probe" app from the play store and reports back with the results. Is the 8MP ultrawide camera listed in there?
Only 1 back and 1 front cameras are reported.

That's unfortunate, it's what I was fearing. Looks like the ultrawide camera still isn't accessible outside of the stock camera app.
