Hi
So my situation is that I want to use my phone with android auto in my car however my phone is not compatible so I've stuck one of my old phones in the car permanently connected to android auto. When in the car i share my 4g connection via hotspot so I can stream from Spotify amd download map data etc. However I would like to know if there is a way to share my phone reception... What I mean about that is when a phone call or sms comes through to the phone can I wordlessly share this with the car phone so they come through android auto.
Thanks in advance
James

Hi everyone,
I am an owner of the GSIII I747M and the ASUS Transformer, both running ICS. I recently had this idea (fantasy?) where I mount the Transformer in my car, hook it up to the car speakers and basically use it as my in-car infotainment system instead of the headunit that's in there. Nothing wrong with my in-car headunit (except the fact that I can't get bluetooth to work with my GSIII), but the tablet will give me tons more features. When I enter the car, I want the tablet to automatically tether to my phone via wi-fi and via bluetooth. Wi-fi is for internet access and it works just fine. The bluetooth is for the hands-free profile, so that when I receive a call, the music/navigation/whatever gets interrupted and I can take the call. I also want to be able to dial from the tablet.
When I connect the two devices via bluetooth, I don't have a hands-free profile; indeed I have no useful profiles at all. My question is simple: is there an app for that? Any suggestions? Has anyone done this? Thanks!
Here is the use case I am trying to solve for: use my former android phone (no data plan) as a media server in my car so my kids can connect there tablets to it and stream movies off of the phones SD card.
I have found several apps that turn your phone into a WiFi hot spot if you have a data connection. The target phone is a droid bionic and is not "activated". I basically use it like an iPod touch.
I have found sever apps that turn your phone into a media server but they need to be on the same WiFi network as the clients.
Is there any app that turns your phone into a WiFi hotspot / router / hub just to share media (I am not looking to share the data connection as there is none on the phone I want to use)?
Hi hope someone can help here.
Im in a quandary wether to just get a normal car dash cam or use a 2nd hand android cheap phone as one.
I was wondering if there was any hacked firmware that converts a android mobile into just a camcorder with no other phone features like calling or receiving or text etc etc?
I know theres apps for dash cams but just a thought.
Has this been thought of or am I the first one to think of it.
Hope you can help
When I got my new phone I wiped the old one and installed a dashcam/blackbox program, Google navigation and a music player on it.
With no sim card in this "car phone" I don't get calls or text messages.
I set up my new phone to serve as a wifi hotspot so the "car phone" can connect for Google navigation. With dashcam running in the background and Google search and now set to accept OK Google on any screen I have music and navigation available hands free as well as the dashcam.
An NFC tag in the car turns my primary phones wifi hotspot on when I get in.
Hi fellow android friends,
I have an older car with a big radio slot. I thought about integrating an android tablet there and connect it to the car stereo, but I have some questions if some features would be possible.
Basically I want to pair my phone to the tablet via bluetooth to mainly stream music to it. But I also want navigation (Google Maps) which I could simply use by creating a hotspot from my phone automatically when it's connected via bluetooth to the tablet. Also I want Call integration. So that I can start, answer and end calls I get on my phone from my tablet. I would set up a microphone in the car for better quality.
Is this possible? If so, how? With specific apps? Or flashing Android Auto somehow to the tablet?
Hi There!
I need your help. My Car Headunit does not hold a stable wifi connection. For example when I make a hotspot with phone and connect to it with my Headunit, it has and internet connection for a couple of seconds (sometimes even up to a whole minute). After this the headunit says it has no internet connection, but it shows that it is connected to my phone hotspot (with excellent connection). To rule out my hotspot I parked my car in front of the house and connected the radio to my home network. It has the same effect.
Are you familiar with this problem?
I uploaded a picture of the box the headunit came in and a photo of the device info:

I dont know the exact brand but I think it is TopWay or something like that.
Thank you in advance!
