I am looking for a custom rom, minus the Google stuff, that will work on my Ulefone Armor X Oreo 8.1. I have a working TWRP recovery and have rooted it via Magisk but went back to stock after a few nagging problems.
The phone spec isn't wonderful so need something lighter but still having plenty of functionality.
Cheers

This specific device and Chipset is fairly new and there's very little on the forum that's specific to your device.
With that stated...
You have a Mediatek MT6739 (64 Bit) device that can be very helpful in that aspect.
Though I had located a few threads that won't be very helpful for you but, the following thread is about the best that your possibly going to find for your device at this point in time.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701283
It does take some time for developments to pop up on the forum for newer Mediatek Chipsets but, where there's a developer (with the same Chipset device), there's always a way depending on the level of difficulty.
I wish you the best of luck with your search!

I'm also looking for that. But if I can get TWRP on it I'd probably try SU.
How did you get to install the TWRP? I found a few posts but was apprehensive about whether I can use SPFT to flash original stock ROM if things go wrong. I suppose that would be the easiest way.
For what I paid for the phone, it's a decent enough device.
Using SD card as internal memory always result in the total capacity being reported wrongly..256GB becomes 512GB with 50% occupied, 200GB becomes 256GB with 64GB occupied. Still waiting for their tech support to reply but unlikely they would.
Cheers!
I have rooted it several times and flashed the stock image several times too without a problem. Haven't used SU though I used Magisk.

I do not have your issue with storage but my wireless charging mat today stopped charging but still lights up. Phone will still charge via cable. Trying to get a replacement mat.
I installed using SP flash tools on windows and Linux just to see the difference.
If you do a Google for Install TWRP ulefone armor x then you will get some information and relevant files.
Unlocking the bootloader via ADB is straightforward on Windows and Linux too. And then relocking it.

Charlie

Code:
https://www.needrom.com/download/twrp-armox-x/
There are other places listed on Google.
Anyone had this in recovery mode?
Had also tried flashing the TWRP but it just didn't stick and was asking for a password on first launch.
Edit.. all links I tried point to the same location to download. Same files.

im also facing the same issue... kindly someone help.. ive explained my issue below:
Can someone confirm? My device is encrypted by default, so whenever i install TWRP it says to decrypt device. I tried the pattern, changed it to password, and pin still my device doesnt decrypt in twrp. I feel its a twrp bug, because when i set the device to ask pattern during boot, the same pattern/pin/password is accepted, but not in twrp.
I want to know 3 things:
1. Are your devices encrypted by default (i dont remember encrypting my device, I dont know how it is encrypted)
2. Are you facing this same issue of entering password when you reboot into recovery?
3. What is the purpose of the boot.img in the twrp zip? am i required to flash it before flashing the recovery, or does it remove encryption?

Charlie, could share how you got the TWRP working?
Have been fiddling around until battery showed -1%.. Had to go back to stock.

In the folder containing the TWRP recovery there are 3 files, boot.img, scatter, and recovery. You only flash recovery, you have flashed the boot image, ensure the checkbox is unticked after loading from scatter in SP tools. That is what I think you have done to get that result.
Follow the guide here. I did it a few times before success as I followed a guide from another site.

You ignore the password and change the language to English from Russian. Just don't enter a password at all. The recovery won't stick as Android replaces it when you reboot. After you've completed other steps maybe OEM unlocking then it stays, or so I read somewhere.

All of them are encrypted by default now. The password in TWRP should be ignored and just change the language and select storage etc.

Yes all are encrypted.
Yes I get the same request for password which I ignored and selected language and carried on.
I do not know why boot.img is included it just gets in the way.
After installing TWRP unlocking OEM bootloader and all the rest including rooting it I decided it would be better to wait for a new ROM. All we need is a working TWRP and an unlocked bootloader to flash a new ROM and we have that. It doesn't work very smoothly and I felt it could be better which is why I went back to stock.
When I posted this request I didn't imagine others would try installing Magisk etc, waste of time really as you won't stay with it either. Best wait for a ROM I think.

Mine is the same encryption is enabled. I select external SD storage and I am shown the contents using the same procedure as yourself, I cannot tell you why this is so. I am using the same technique, same phone, same settings, same TWRP, maybe we have different SD card?
That is all I can think of by way of an explanation. It works perfectly for me. I also made a backup which I can select and restore without a problem.
hi guys
after a lot searching around i could not find any guide on xda to install twrp on power 5.yes i have come across other models but not this specific one .then searching on net i came to know one of guide to install twrp..after trying whole day i finally go through unlocking boot loader and flashing twrp. but problem i am facing is i cant reboot my phone into custom recovery it would reboot into its own android recovery.
any ideas what could be wrong or there is special recovery.img for ulefone power 5.
what could be that i cant figure out
I have the same problem
I dont know when some tech or expert will solve our problem..
head to 4pda.ru and check there, from what I have read it's seems they made it (not without hassle, though).
Thanks mate i will have look and get back to you
I have the same problem, I follow the russian guide too, it doesn't work.
Any luck with this guys?
I followed instructions from 4PDA, however,
1) if I flash ROM v1 I can get into TWRP but the screen EVERYWHERE looks broken (so, something with the drivers is messed up)
2) if I flash ROM v2 I cannot boot into TWRP, as it it just isn't there.
I tried both methods of flashing files, with MDT tool and via ADB/Fastboot, the results are the same.

No custom ROMs as far as I know.
Don't expect to see those anytime soon. Custom ROMs require a large user base. This one will have a marginal amount of users.
Rooting should however be possible. You can use Google translate to navigate 4PDA forums and install TWRP.

The issue is that there are a couple of mixed results on the rooting. I haven't actually seen proof of any working.
Russians say it's working for them.
There rooting sticks if you delete a file mentioned in their tutorial, a file located in /system folder, before rebooting for the first time.
https://www.stupdroid.com/2018/07/root-twrp-ulefone-Power-5.html
Worked for me after trying 2-3 times.
But Using root with Galaxy S launcher(my preferred one) not stable for long, after some time it starts giving issues. If you load twrp and then root, then continue using stock launcher. Xposed working too, but most of the modules not compatible with Oreo 8.1.
Note : DONT load ANRC and similar modules of Xposed which alter basic root files, your phone will refuse to boot and you will have to load the OS again. Gravity Box also starts giving issues after some time. I use an older version of Whatsapp extensions, Xwifi(Wifi name in status bar) and status bar download progress. These 3 are all I need.
https://www.getdroidtips.com/twrp-recovery-ulefone-power-5/
Same guide, works but once you unlock bootloader and load twrp your internal memory will get wiped out so make sure you backup and reload important files
TWRP 3.2.3
So my UMIDIGI Plus E got stolen a few days ago (thanks to the thief for helping me get rid of that piece of junk) - I have the Ulefone Power 5 now. None of the TWRPs I could find worked for me, so I ported it from TWRP I found for the Power 3 (and tested it - it's working). So I uploaded it to my MediaFire account (and have the link), but I've never posted on XDA before so I can't post the link to it here because I don't have 10 posts yet....
I've uploaded it to Needrom dot com, but it has not yet been reviewed. You guys can try to search for it there.
If I could, then I would've uploaded it here.

have you flashed recovery img which is under your zip ?
I've done the same and not working
Sorry to ask, but is there a clear solution/instruction? I've tried to flash the img. files provided by jojy thomas, but my phone would just request me to enter my casual password with the on-screen keyboard crashing, just to tell me that the decryption failed and have me factory reset my phone. I couldn't get into TWRP in any way, and just had to go along with everything else.
Only should work on Android 10 based ROMs
External wifi adapters need custom kernel compiling
I've suffered to get the Kali Nethunter working on custom ROMs
U need free storage available (not sure cuz I've formated data then installed and it's been a while but ig not less than 15 gbytes)
Here are the steps :
1.download the file from offensive security website
(Not sure if external links are allowed but here it is ) : https://www.offensive-security.com/kali-linux-nethunter-download/
(Just look for miui davinci file)
2.Download it and extract on whatever device u want the copy the extracted folder to the roo of the storage (of course not the "/" folder the "storage/emulated/0" one
3. Go into extractedFolder/data/app/
And make sure every app there is installed especially the nethunter.apk
4.copy the "kalifs-arm64-full.tar.xz" file to the root
"storage/emulated/0"
5.Open the Nethunter app and go into chroot manager and install chroot
5.Browse for the file location which you copied into the root "storage/emulated/0" and it will start installing it will take up too 10 to 15 minutes
6.You are done now but HID attacks aren't working
7.Go to USB arsenal and change "reset" into anything that has " hid" untill you see a successful toast message then save config to database
Done.
If it helped you hit the thanks button (your choice)

Monitor mode works by default using the internal card
For external I don't have one to test it now
But I am sure it will work as long as it has a supported chip

Sorry I wish I was able to help
But the tag says [CUSTOM ROM]
SO I HAVE No Idea
Maybe try this
Don't flash any thing just follow the procedure listed above and It may work
Just don't flash anything
It won't work, cuz you need kernel for monitoring for example wifi - stock kernels can't put wlan1 (internal or external) wifi to monitor mode, so you won't be able to pentest routers

Are you trying to install Nethunter onto stock miui rom?
If so, take a look at
https://forums.kali.org/showthread.php?48308-Xiaomi-Mi-9t-Not-Work-Hid-Monitor-Bad-USB
This worked for me
I'm running full Nethunter on Mi9t stock MiUi Global 11.0.4 rooted with Magisk.zip (via TWRP) and everything just works like a charm. No problems capturing packets, injection support is doing fine and HID seems to work (never tested it but NH App shows its working)
All i had to do was root the Mi9t with Magisk (flashed the zip via TWRP), after checking that everything went well ive booted back into TWRP and flashed the nethunter-2020.2-pre3-davinci-miui-ten-kalifs-full.zip downloaded at https://www.offensive-security.com/kali-linux-nethunter-download/
After that i had to reflash Magisk.zip again (directly after flashing the nethunter.zip without rebooting the device!) and thats it.
As the pre-build images you get at offensive-security allready come with the tweaked kernel u need for injection and monitor mode, theres no need to flash a 'nethunter kernel' afterwards...it works 'out of the box'
Flashing another nethunter kernel afterwards will most probably result in a bootloop... (tried myself a few times with hasty nethunter kernel)
Ive only tried this with the officiall pre-built images on a stock MiUi ROM.
If you want to flash NH on a Costum ROM, you should probably go with the Guide from OP

4.reboot
5.inizializza and upgrade Magisk (download update Magisk to phone)
6.download Busybox module (Magisk)
7.poweroff
8.twrp flash "nethunter-2020.2-davinci-miui-ten-kalifs-full.zip" flash (Magisk downloaded to phone) flash "Disable_Dm-rity_ForceEncrypt_03.04.2020.zip"

Does Kali work with QFJEUXM 11.0.5?
By following the cited guide
https://forums.kali.org/showthread.php?48308-Xiaomi-Mi-9t-Not-Work-Hid-Monitor-Bad-USB
I don't see anything about:
- Format Data and wipe
Is it necessary?
-"AOSiP-10-Quiche-davinci-20200526-gapps.zip
Is it necessary to flash, maybe Kali breaks the stock built-in GApps?
-"Disable_Dm-rity_ForceEncrypt_03.04.2020.zip"
Is it also necessary to flash, Magisk cannot make it pass SafetyNet without?
Also, does installing Kali affect:
- Widevine L1 (dropping to L3)
- 4G/4G+ (by disabling some bands or carrier aggregation)?
One more question, what would be a procedure to go back to stock?
Manually updating to the stock Recovery/ZIP firmware from System update/Choose update package would be enough or flashing Fastboot/TGZ firmware by Mi Flash Tool will be needed?

-Does Kali work with QFJEUXM 11.0.5?
Well, somewhere i've read that it should work with 11.0.5 too but dont remember where...would have to search for it again to provide a link to you...
- Format Data and wipe
Not sure if its necessary, but i did so. Its always a good thing to do before flashing any ROM.
Just try it without that step and you'll see...you can always reflash to stock if you get any errors, so just give it a shot mate
-"AOSiP-10-Quiche-davinci-20200526-gapps.zip
Nope, thats not necessary for sure. I'm using it with the stock built gapps and its working fine
-Disable_Dm-rity_ForceEncrypt_03.04.2020.zip
Thats pretty strange with that ForceEncrypt step, some say they had to others not. I did not flash it to be honest and everythings okay so far. But theres a Chance that you will have to! Maybe it belongs to which ROM you are using (global,eu,chinese) but cant tell for sure...
So this one you will have to figure out yourself, sry.
-4G and LTE is working good for me, so i'd say kali isnt affecting it
-About Widefine, well i dont know to be honest...im watching Prime and Sky Go on the Phone sometimes but for the Quality Prime just says 'optimal' and Sky Go 'HD'...it looks great for sure but i cant tell the exact Quality....if theres a way to check that, let me know and i'll be happy to do that for you
-One more question, what would be a procedure to go back to stock?
I would just do a wipe/format and flash the stock MiUI image or better, your backup via TWRP (or any other custom Recovery)
For me, Fastboot by MiFlashTool is always the last option. If nothing else works, Fastboot is a Livesaver but thats just 'my way' of doing it, there are probably many others who say otherwise!
Sometimes it needs a lot of testing to figure out the best way for your specific device, so always do a backup and flash a custom recovery before flashing Nethunter. That way, its always posible to get back to Stock if you encounter any bootloops/problems after the installation.
Its like always while playing around with any OS...if it wont work, you just have to "Try Harder"
Im happy to help anyway, if you got any more Questions just shout out mate

Thank you a lot for your answer.
Btw, few days ago I upgraded to QFJEUXM v11.0.6 (so no more 11.0.5), which is newer than the Kali pre-built image, but according to v11.0.6 Changelog only Security patch was updated
I'm still tempting to try Kali (currently having new official TWRP v3.4.0, Magisk Canary 20416 and Hasty kernel)...
You can check your Widevine Security level (still interested if you have L1) by
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.devcheck
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidfung.drminfo
By going back to stock you said flashing MIUI. - so you mean flashing ZIP/Recovery firmware through TWRP?

Yeah, im not surprised bout that...sorry for the late answer :/
Thank you for pointing out these two Apps mate!
I've checked my Widevine Security Level and both Apps showing Widefine L1 (Screenshots attached) so no downgrade after flashing Nethunter
Yes thats correct, to get back to stock you would have to flash the ZIP/Recovery firmware through TWRP.Only if that doesnt work you'd have to do it through Fastboot.
If you did a full backup (i.e. through TWRP) of your system before flashing Nethunter, you would be able to restore it by flashing the recovery, dtbo, boot and system images one by one through TWRP/Fastboot (not sure but i think it should be enough to just reflash the system.img, boot.img and dtbo.img to get your pre-Nethunter Setup/Specs back (English isnt my native Language so in case you dont get what im trying to explain...that means your stock 11.0.6 with TWRP v3.4.0, Magisk Canary 20416 and the Hasty kernel including all your Settings and Stuff)
You wouldnt have to flash a 'naked stock rom' if Nethunter doesnt work
If you're still not comfortable enough to install Nethunter onto your Device, just wait a few more Days.
I will try to get Nethunter running on the 11.0.6 ROM myself as soon as i have some more time! Will also try it with your Specs/Setup by then

Obviously you set the wrong Folder Name...just choose one of the three options from Screenshot 1!?
But to be honest, and i really dont want to offend you, if you couldnt figure that one out yourself you shouldnt install Nethunter at all...

Ok, I installed NetHunter zip image for Davinci over QFJEUXM v11.0.6.0 and re-rooted with Magisk Canary v20419.
Ran NetHunter app and chroot.
I think it looks ok - screenshots attached
Btw, tried yesterday Wifite to 'break' three WPA WLANs (Private, not Enterprise) for whom I actually know passwords - their passwords are weak like vesna1970 or 136923457
Wifite was running for two or three hours, trying Pixie-Dust, NULL PIN, PIN Attack, Handshake capture but eventually failed for all three connections
I will set up a WEP AP at home next week to test again, but who nowadays still uses WEP. Almost everybody would be using WPA, and with stronger passwords than above
If so, I doubt it is of big (educational) use and I am suspect about YT movies where they successfully break WPA in 30 minutes (or more)
Receiving a notification to update NetHunter from Installed 2020.2 to 2020.2?!
But the Update fails with Error -110 - on screenshots
Btw, I have successfully updated (couple of times) packages from NetHunter app, currently there is nothing to update there
Edit:
Fixed the NH app update notification: open NetHunter Store, Settings, Expert mode and untick Privilege Extention.
Let it update the NetHunter app
Hi all, have a few questions that might seem daft to some but need to get my head around it.
I have my Mix 4 and its obviously running the CN Rom. It is littered with bugs and there are many features that do not work or just missing, to the point where i could not use it as my daily driver in its current form.
Ive been reading up on flashing the EU Odin rom, and see alot of the issues are already fixed in it.
So after 4 hours of faffing i have managed to request a bootloader unlock. and i understand this will be a full wipe and reinstall.
This is my first question 8 days wait!
1: how do I keep an eye on the time left?
2: I have what i think are all the files ready to go to flash, but i understand this is done through fastboot?
3: So no OTA updates after this i would have to keep reflashing manually.?
4: I here something about TWRP that would enable this, but dont quite understand the process, or where do the updates then come from?
5: Are there any security issues like running Banking applications after unlocking, as i think it plays with security issues.
Hope someone with better understanding can help.
Hi...
1) I use my calendar to see when the time is right to resume the unlocking process
2) there's tutorial for this ...
[ROM][MIUI][odin] Xiaomi.eu ROM for Xiaomi MIX 4
How to install Xiaomi.eu ROM for Xiaomi MIX 4 We will release fastboot ROM versions until TWRP for odin is released Steps to install xiaomi.eu ROM for first time from China ROM (All your data and files on internal storage will be deleted!) -...
forum.xda-developers.com
3) yes... no OTAs from within the system, but ...
4) with TWRP you can flash the updates. You need to check,if the update-files are marked 'fastboot' or 'recovery'(TWRP)
5) Can't answer that one.
Good Luck.
Ok thanks for your help, still deciding to take the plunge or not, expensive bit of kit. Awhile to decide i guess.
so sorry another question, if we do this one withough twrp, can we just updat or is it a complete flash again?

Updating through TWRP should leave your apps and data intact.
Edit:It was way to early to answer the question... without twrp, only fastboot is possible as far as i know. When i used fastboot, i made a complete clean flash.
So once you have done it through fastboot you can use TWRP thereafter, thats cool.
I believe a CN to EU is a data wipe anyway.

Ok guys managed to unlock my phone and flash the rom, all seemed ok untill it started updating my apps, and then gets stuck on app 8 of 144 and just will never progress?.
It seems i have somehow flashed a slightly older rom, so going to reflash with the latest, but i dont want to do fastboot again as i have to keep manually updating, is there a twrp yet?

Did you follow ALL instructions of the tutorial? How exactly did you proceed?
I think I accidentally tried to restore a google backup from my old phone, guess there was an app it didnt like, anyway reflashed to 21.9.8 and all is going well, amazing improvement over the original. very pleased.
Been having a play and only found 1 issue as yet, when you lock an open app in recents, you can still swipe it away?.

Thanks for replying. Did you have to do anything special like Magisk hide to hide that you rooted the phone?
Im not rooted, just running custom rom. I have no need to root.
What if I want to go from EU to CN? Bought the phone. It came with EU rom. But I would like to install the official rom.
Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if there has been any update about custom recoveries for pixel 6. I've been checking the TWRP website and what not but there no info on the subject that I can see.
Just curious to know if anyone else has heard anything about custom recoveries yet
I asked about on one Telegram, I think that TWRP is out-of-date for newest Android version (main dev is on hiatus)

TWRP for Android 11 only came out in late 2021. It should come soon for 12. No ETAs obviously but they have a chat here: https://rebrand.ly/teamwin-recovery-zulip-community and make announcements here: https://twrp.me/
Thanks guys, it's good to know that it might still be a while away hopefully not too long. It does have some good features so fingers crossed it's sooner rather than later.
TWRP has been dead for the Pixels for over two years.

That won't help on a system that has boot issues.
there was a custom recovery ( lineage recovery i think) that came with a custom rom. i was reading about the rom a few weeks back(forget where), but the developer would not release the recovery separately.
so really there is no reason why TWRP or some other custom recovery could not be developed.
but with the lack of roms on XDA and limited custom roms elsewhere, i feel that the pixel 6 will have very very little support.

You push it as a zip file on fastboot. They're is dotos, deep, statixos, grapheneos, protons, crdroid etc for device
So basically bypassing the recovery altogether.

I miss having the ability to do a complegte image of your phone. Comes in handy when you get stuck in a boot loop and have to do a factory reset. Is there any other program that can do a full backup like TWRP?
I really do not see the need for a backup of andoid on the Pixel 6.
Backup your data.
There are several ways now days to restore the Pixel 6 with Android 12 and above.
adb and fastboot are your friends.
Kernel manager apps have a flash tool built into them.

none of the ways you mention are possible with only a pixel6 and nothing else.
i cant tell you how many time when i was away for vacation or on a trip where i have flashed a rom on my S7. even a few times when some new software borked my phone and i could boot to recovery and RECOVER my device.
you can go to the custom kernel posts here and look at how many people have soft bricked their phone in April with a bad kernel. with a TWRP recovery they could have flashed a backup and never left their chair.
how can anyone say that more tools to fix things is in anyway a bad thing.
