Android Q Support - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

I'm wondering if I'll be able to install a stock Google android Q GSI as the phone supports project treble. Wilinstalling through fastboot or Odin trip Knox?
Is there a way to get Q without rooting the device?
I'm running Pie with the April security patch

Flashing official ROMs won't trip knox. You'll probably need to wait for the first beta to get released to get a flashable zip.

Also, I don't see any Android 10 based rom. Even if you root, there is nothing at the moment that you can flash. A lot of OEMS pushed already update with beta based on android 10 even Huawei. Sadly, Samsung is not one of them :crying:
Android Q Beta 3 is heading to 21 phones — here's the full list

are you on the Beta test list or is that the official OTA ?
you need stock system and stock recovery to take the update
check the file depot in my signature for the files

Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow (with 1st of April security path) + EMUI 4.0 are under beta test and are expected to be released in June. The beta update is also available for public release on demand, and you can also subscribe to beta update by filling up necessary information at https://club.hihonor.com/in/update....i-4-0-marshmallow-limited-public-release.2417.
Take a note that this update isn't stable yet and we have reported many issues to Honor for that, and should get fixes sooner.
You can update to CM13 UNOFFICIAL, but before you do, just have a look at the issues mentioned for CM13. If you can live with them, I suggest you go for CM13. I am not sure whether CM13 for Honor 5x will ever be OFFICIAL (I don't know what makes it unofficial and official). Personally, I won't move to CM unless it gets fingerprint support (which is not possible until Honor releases Android 6.0.1 sources for Honor 5x).

@pank.dhnd the sources is much enough with the kernel releases which is more enough to patch the system files and make fingerprint sensor work with dev sources aka Beta.
Though i've applied for beta tester and recieved my update where as i have also patched already with the security update B150. I doubt that will i face bootloop no longer i don't go downgrading the system or re-flasing stock with B130 and update it.
@gopinaidu77 Can i just uprade this OTA ? with B150 security patched with stock with no root ??
@clsA I just applied for Beta testing and i've got the OTA aswell. i have doubt that by this month end the stock- official update will roll-on will i be able to capture that too ? Or is it better to stay in stock and avail the offcial rather opting Beta (B130).
@kartrikpal update, then do full twrp backup then do what ever you want

Honor 9 and Oreo 8.1?

Will Honor 9 get Oreo 8.1 in near future? Does anybody know?
Also second question, is it possible that we will get next Android P?
Thanks for answers!
Considering how many Honor/Huawei phones still got the Oreo update, I guess there is actually a fair chance we will get Android P. As for Oreo 8.1 ... well, it was already released for a while when we got 8.0 and as far as I know, the next "big" update with face unlock is still based on 8.0 so I don't think we will be getting 8.1 in the "near future"
Latest EMUI8 B365 with May Security Patch is still Android 8.0.0
Updating to 8.1 requires a kernel update as well from what i could understand (Honor View 10 as source code for the 8.0 and 8.1 firmwares separately, and the difference is the Linux Kernel version), so the update will depend on their will to make that update or just wait for Android P release and update directly to that one (My bet would be that they will leave it at 8.0.0 and update directly to P by the end of the year or so)
Has anyone tried booting a plain AOSP treble 8.1 ROM on the H9 yet, was considering it the other day, but not sure if its worth the soft brick mess...
likely we will get some sort of idea after face lock gets to every device
With Huawei/Honor it's easy to figure it out. Flagship devices get 2 major updates, and midange devices one. So we will definitely get P. Maybe with Treble devices they will increase it to 3 and 2 updates. As for 8.1, it's the same story as 7, they went with devices on 7.0 straight to 8.0

There is only one build of pie available for the BLA-A09 phone, and that is probably the build you already have installed, the one on proteammt.ru is the same build as the one on firmware finder (depends on your imei if it is approved or not). When pie gets installed it will overwrite the existing recovery on your device with the one from the pie build so you should get any future updates OTA. (There are no custom recoveries for pie as of yet)
My phone automatically updated to PIE (EMUI 9) this morning, complete with the Jan 2019 security patch level.
Apparently we're not out in the cold with our US version of the Mate 10 Pro.

Nope. Huawei has not included the View 10 in the list of devices that will receive Android 11, and as you can see other ROMs have remained in Android 9 because it is not possible to unlock the bootloader.
EMUI 10 on Honor V10 is Android 10.
disable animations and debloat it and.... it's good enough
GSI ROM is now available
https://www.xda-developers.com/developer-boots-android-11-22-older-devices-project-treble-gsi/
Hello all.
So, I hope this device is not completely dead.
Anyone here got the recent GSI roms running on this device and mind post the ready image and flash instructions along with known bugs for this device?
Though I understand why the community left this device... and brand altogether. It will be my last as well. Cheers
I'm not sure if this is the right place. But, what are the requirements to create Android 11 Custom rom for this View 10 device?

Rolling back my LG V30 to Android 8 (Oreo)

I have an app that does not work after Android 8 that I need and there is no replacement in 9 or above. I managed to avoid updating my v30 to v9 and later for a year or so. It accidentally allowed the update to 9 this past weekend while I was camping. All I want to do is roll back to stock v8 or 8.1 (Oreo).
I have enough tech knowledge to follow directions and understand rooting but am having a really hard time finding the "right directions." As I was reading some of them, I found caveats like, "Use X unless you have the delta update and then use Y but not if you want to run Z. For Z, you have to follow this other thread." I also know that using the wrong settings or data file could brick the phone.
So, I'm hoping someone can help me narrow down what sets of directions I need to follow.
Here's what I have right now:
LG V30 (VS996) On Verizon Network
Developer Options Enabled
Android V9
Security Patch Level August 1, 2019
Kernel Version: 4.4.153
Build #: PKQ1.190414.001
Software version: VS99630c
Again, all I want to do is roll back to stock v8 or 8.1 (Oreo).
Bonus would also be a way to stop asking me every day to update or delay a day and just wait until I manually do it.
Thx in advance!!
Download the right firmware file for your device from here -

Then download the flash tool from here -

Follow the instructions on both the pages. I think you can take it from here.
Note that implied with this process is that you cannot downgrade your firmware without wiping the phone... there's no way to "patch" back to the old version. So, be sure to take backups FIRST.
If you're rooted on the old firmware, you can then disable/freeze/delete the update APKs so that the update warning goes away. But this requires root, so be aware of that. If you don't haven't rooted already, then this is a process of its own, and will require you to go back to Nougat in order to perform that, so you may want to do that before installing the final version of the ROM you want. You can find out how to do this rooting process on the WTF thread, post #193, located here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ar-instructions.3790500/page-10#post-76584629
If you don't want to root, that's fine, but then you must endure the update warning process... unless you can find another way to disable the update APKs.
Thank you both. I expected to wipe the phone so that's not an issue. I will first install Nougat, root and then update to Oreo.
There are about 14 Oreo ROMs on that site. Do I just pick the latest one or do I have to pick the earliest one and update that?
Pick the latest one.
