Reboot every time I connect USB and use mass storage

Every single time I connect my S2 to USB and want to mount the storages my phone will do a reset. 3 seconds after I I hit the button the bootlogo immidiatly appears and after that I see lockscreen like a normal boot but I also don't have to enter the sim password and the phone doesn't seem as busy as it is when I do a real reboot.
I'm using PA 2.52 Rom with latest Siyah kernel and this problem never occured before. I didn't flash anything or did any significant changes except installing some apps that don't even require root.
I also get those reboots sometimes (but rarely) when I try to install or uninstall an app. Any explenation for this? Could my internal storage be corrupted?
Not that this really bothers me, as I can also transfer data with wifi and also right after the reboot the USB works, but it's still bugging me what could cause this. Also tried reflash rom/kernel, wiping cache, dalvik, fixing permissions but it didn't help.
Also the system uptime does not reset so I guess this isn't even a real reboot?
have you tried to go into recovery mode to fix permissions?
dont know if it will help, but it might be worth a shot.
and have you toggled the setting to force usb mass storage in the sTweaks app?
if all others fail i have had good experience with qtAdb when i have struggled, it comes with a useable filemanager so you dont have to adb push and adb pull.
Good luck Champ!

[Q] Installing GAPPS after rebooting the phone

I have an HTC Desire with the latest stable KK ROM.
See here for more info
I used this ROM for almost 1 year without any issue. Then yesterday while I were showing to a friend how to install the gapps package I wrongly reinstalled it on my phone from the recovery screen and now the Home button doesn't work anymore. Furthermore the notification bar doesn't show me notifications about SMS , whatsup , app updates etc ... When the led start blinking I have to open every app to check if a message or SMS is arrived. Google Play work without problems.
All the settings and the apps are still there but I can't use the phone without these features. I tried to remove the google account , wipe the cache and the dalvik cache but the problems still remain.
I have 42 apps installed and a lot of settings and I dont want to reset and reinstall all the apps again. Is there something I can do ?
Finally I managed to restore the home button and the notification bar.
The only thing I had to do was to run the Setup Wizard again.
I powered on my phone I connected it to the computer and I run the following command:
Code:
adb shell am start -n com.google.android.setupwizard/.SetupWizardTestActivity
I inserted again all the settings into the wizard screens and when I clicked on "Finished" .... boom the notification bar showed me the notifications about sms and others.
Also the home button now works flawlessly.

Emoji Switcher semi-bricked my phone

Hi, this is more of a warning.
I have a LG G4 H815 and I'm on lineage-14.1-20170516-nightly-h815-signed with opengapps and lineage su, was doing fine.
I previously (CM13 times) used emoji switcher (com.stevenschoen.emojiswitcher) to get the iOS emoji, so I did that again - only this time, I noticed that Threema would crash if I selected an emoji.. which should have been a hint..
..with a reboot it was fine again for a couple of hours, until it crashed again.
After a couple of days with this I though "hm, maybe I should switch to another emoji version, maybe from iOS 10.2 to 10?" , yeah after I did that and rebooted, my phone was in brick-limbo.
Firstly it seemed to have factory reset my phone - everything gone, SD card completely empty - safe for some apps, strangely. But it was also unable to connect to the internet, neither wifi nor mobile data...
The (software) buttons did not work, except for the "back" button.
Also I was unable to enable developer mode again....
I tried rebooting in various ways, tried clearing davlik.. I even looked into the SD folder from TWRP recovery... empty...
So I'm now re-flashing my phone, and I will try to get some old backup data on it - since, as I mentioned, it completely cleaned out my SD card, so no titanium backup either...

[CM12.1] Stange bootloop after several months of trouble free usage

Summary:
So this morning (abiout six hours ago) my beloved S2 running CM12 crashed and could not reliable boot since then, it goes into some kind of weird bootloop.
The issue in detail:
Attempting to boot (long press on power button) will bring up the "Galaxy I9100" as sually and continues with the CM12 bootloader animation. After the typical time required to boot it vibrates slightly as usual, but afterwards the screen dims for about a second and the whole process is repeated.
What I did shortly before the issue:
Google Play wanted to update apps, but I was out of internal memory. So I went to /data/data and searched and deleted all files containing "cache". I've done this about 20-40 times over the last months (I didn't keep count) and never had any issue.
Things I've tried:
It is possible to access the recovery mode, but the options in CM12's recoverey are very limited (unlike TWRP for example). I cleared the cache but it had no effect.
After taking out the battery the "optimizing apps" windows pops up. When it's done, user input (enter sim, unlock pattern, homecreen) is possible, but only for a few seconds. The first time I missed the chance, the second and thired time I immediately restarted into safe mode.
Safe mode works surprisingly well, the first time I used it to let google continue the updates and disabled autostart of Applock and Greenify, the second time I uninstalled both Apps and cleared the dalvic cache (simply by deleting data/dalvic/). Neither attemped solved the issue.
What I'm currently doing:
After booting into safe mode for the 4th time I'm starting to back up all user data. Communication with a PC works only for some time, but reconnecting solves the issue (for now).
So what's next?:
Honestly I've no idea what I'm doing. I've installed CM on 3 devices in the past 4 years, but thats all experience I have. I'm hoping that I'm just missing an important detail and can get around all these problems with a simple fix. If not, I'd try a clean install, but I'd like to avoid that.
So, if you've got ANY IDEA what the issue might be or what to try, I'm open for all suggestions! Chances are that I haven't left the safe mode since posting, so you can also request sceenshots of anything you need. Thanks!

I'll update this thread with all step that I take, so that a) you know where I am b) I remember everything and c) people with similar problems might benifit:
• The USB connection was kinda fragile, so I copied all data to the micro SD instead
• sdcard0 could be copied without problems
• phone crashed during coping of other files in root. Folder "sys" has been copied (at least partionally) before crash
• reboot normal, but always with message "Trebuchet was closed"
• seems to work fine now
• exit plane mode (I've enabled it before to charge quicker and reduce heat) and display turns black
• medium long press on power button brings up restart menu, nothing else can be done (checked: double click home button for camera, long click for recent apps)
• turn on airplane mode again and restart and its just fine again
• tried out a different sim card, same issue.
Based on all this, I'd say the issue is a third party app acting (badly) on the ppresence of a mobile connection. Weird. Will investigate the issue further tomorrow, or - more likely - flash the new lineageOS version. I'll report back when I know more.
After making a backup of ALL files I followed the pinned tutorial to install linageOS. Everything - including mobile connection - seems to work fine now! Thanks @djibe89 for such an amazing easy-to-follow tutorial

Google Apps Cannot Connect To Server

At around 23:00 last night, after installing a bunch of updates from Google Play onto my (Previously Unrooted) Samsung SM-G360F (Android Lollipop), all of my Google apps stopped connecting. Youtube, Gmail, Play, Maps, all cant connect. 'Cant Connect To The Server', 'No Internet Connection', 'Sync Error'. I tried to do some fixes and then got fed up. These are the steps I have taken to try and fix this problem:
1. Search online (Scarce and unhelpful)
2. Default accounts to factory (No Fix)
3. Remove accounts from device (No Fix)
4. Wipe app cache and data (No Fix)
5. Change Gmail/Google account settings\allow access\2-step verification\ect (No Fix)
6. NFC Sign-In (No Fix)
7. Use data instead of wifi (Connected one account, wont sync anything, NO FIX)
8. Delete "Hosts" File (No Fix)
9. Factory Reset/Wipe local cache (No Fix)
10. System Update (Crashes Device? Battery removal required)
11. Root Phone and use Thrid-Party software (No Fix)
12. System update after unrooting (Download fails at start)
13. Changed DNS settings (No Fix)
14. Changed Home WiFi settings\Updated Drivers\Updated Router\Reset BTHub\Reset BTHome Settings\Changed Ethernet Sockets (No Fix)
15. Modded Google Services with Third-Party Software (No Fix)
16. Install Custom Kernel (Temporary Fix, see 6. )
17. Reinstall Original Kernel (No Fix)
18. Call support (Useless)
19. Install an app on the device from google play via Desktop. (Weird reaction. Tried to download app, phone notified it couldn't be installed [ERROR CODE 920]. Desktop site now shows the app is already installed and keeps making me sign in again. Same result for each app tested. (No Fix)
20. Unmount external storage (No Fix)
Pretty much given up now. Online support for this issue is useless, but apparrently a lot of people had this issue in the past. I can't afford a new phone and this is just another stupid bug in a long running string of glitchy crap I've had to put up with using these goddamn Android phones. Android has gotten so s**t since Jellybean, and before KitKat I never even had problems like this to fix. It's almost enough to drive me to get an iPhone.
