Hey guys,
This is my 1st post here ever.
The only time I fiddled around with rooting an android phone was more than a year ago when I had an AT&T Samsung infuse. I followed very detailed instructions on how to root it and upgrade it. It worked like a charm and I'm so grateful to all of you experts trying to help newbies.
A friend of mine went to China last month and brought me a Samsung s3 clone.
The phone is factory unlocked BUT
1. It doesn't have the original google play application. It has a similar logo which leads to a Chinese app store.
2. Google mail account application is missing
3. The phone supports only Chinese, Korean and English languages. (I'd like to use it in different ones)
So I need to re-install a good Android version that has all the Android features that I'm missing
I thought it would be easy to find instructions on how to do it it here, but unfortunately I wasn't lucky to find a direct and clear step -by step instructions for my phone model
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300
Model #: mtk6515_ics2
Android version: 4.0.4
Base band version: MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V14
Kernel Version: 3.0.13
[email protected]#1
Build Number: ALPS.ICS2.MP.V1.18
Custom Build Version: V15.12
Please help!
Is there anybody out there?
Is there anybody out there? :crying:
Hey man,
unfortunately I don't think anyone can help you rooting/changing roms as it's a replica and there isn't a real development for it.
BUT as for the play store you can DL the apk directly from here:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/05/14/download-latest-google-play-store-4-1-6/
As for the phone language, after installing the google play store look for:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.c_lis.ccl.morelocale&hl=en
and choose the language of your wishing. That is in case that your phone supports it.
If you mean by google mail account the gmail app then in that case:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...ith-slide-out-navigation-and-brand-new-inbox/
BTW for future references - try to make a search for yourself I'm sure you could've find those in less than a minute
Cheers.
Thanx
Thanx a lot for your effort and concern.
I downloaded the latest google play apk, I installed it, but it wasn't working apparently because "google login service" and "google services framework" were missing too!
So I downloaded them, but they needed to be installed in system/apps.
I downloaded "root explorer" which should help me accessing the system folder.
I copied&pasted the apps in system/apps but a message says "your phone should be rooted first in order to paste" came out.
So back to square1
On the other hand, I tried to disactivate some of the annoying Chinese applications that came with the system using "root app delete", and guess what?
I get the same message that I should root this phone first.
So how can I root this bloody thing???
Yeah that is sounds pretty frustraing..Well I guess you won't find here a "how to root s3 replica" guide and personally I wouldn't try and rooting the device as it could easily brick it.
I suggest you go to the store and tell them that you've got a phone with no option to download apps, or connect to your Google account...
Hope you'll sort things up with the store soon

I wish I could follow your advise. The shop is 4000 miles away in China.
There is a google store app installed, but it's fake. It has a similar icon but with different proportions. The problem is that it's in Chinese and it deals with chinese applications.
Oh that is unreachable, but maybe can you contact them via Email etc..?
Anyways I found this thread I think you'll see it much more beneficial than my help as I don't have experience on rooting replicas and it's focused on your device:

thanx,
This method is for i9300 mtk6575
Will it work on my phone which is i9300 mtk6515_ics2?
What are my chances to brick the phone if I follow this procedure?

If you flash recovery from different device, there's a big chance you brick it
Try to use MTKDroidTools to root it, its pretty safe.
As @lolet said correct, you can possibly brick your phone...
That's why I advise you to ask in the thread I've linked onto, there are fellows there with much more experience than myself with rooting your device.
I guess in the last couple of years I've flashed hundreds of times but only on samsung, htc and motorolas.
Cheers

please this firmware link ,,,
First, please forgive me if this is the wrong place, but this is the General Forum, and the forum software has changed a lot since when I was really active here as an active phone modder and active poster!
So like I said I've been away from the forums for a long time... trying to rereading a lot and trying to get back into MY PHONE.
I hate my modem sometimes because T-Mobile just sucks in some areas and is great in others [Greater Houston Texas Area, but mostly south side and towards the Galveston Bay].
I would like to know if the newer modems are interchangeable with the below config on my G900T?
And if there is any advantage to upgrading my modem? Wondering what modem I might be able to upgrade to with that below config and if there would be any advancements/pluses/gotmeinabadways/or other things I should be aware of if I did?
Also I'm wanting to upgrade to Marshmellow maybe, should I or should I just forget it? I will be reading more about the ROMs available. I've read a lot of posts about how buggy 5.1.x is. So I don't want to even go there...
Basic Phone info, Stock T-Mobile ROM [Damn bloatware] rooted awhile back with I think towelroot. I would really like to change to a slicker ROM that is debloated and maybe deoxed maybe. Will have to read hella lot more about that for sure..
Model SM-G900T Rooted
edit: Nova launcher
Android 5 not 5.1.x
BaseBand G900TUVU1D0B1
Kernel 3.4.0
TWRP 2.8.6.0 recovery installed
Broken Xposed :crying::crying::crying:
Can anyone recommend an app that will give modem info without having to decipher the baseband? or is there a very good break down of what each part of baseband means? I know go search!!! and I'm trying to reacquaint myself with the forums but the newer software is far different than I remember EKK! And search always hated me!! And even the different forum headers have changed due to time marching on and me being well Techtarded the last year or more due to things better left unsaid...
Have Xposed installed as noted above, but its been f00ked for a long time due to the ARM processor if I remember correctly and the Framework installer not being compatible..... Wish I could used the Xposed but........ I originally got into Xposed due to the Hex icons I actually paid for Xposed because I liked and used some of the modules made by smart people. Again but!!!

The most recent firmware and modem for the TMo S5 is version OL1,that came out in late December.
muniz_ri has been nice enough to put together a ROM that is the Stock ROM, already rooted, and ready to go:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...t/how-to-update-to-g900tof6-5-1-1-pc-t3141404
There are links there to the ROM, including the modem, or just the modem files themselves.
Rob
@daspazz the following website has decent basic info that seems to address the questions you ask: http://androidmodguide.blogspot.de/p/other.html
TLDR: yes modems are interchangeable
As for Marshmallow, I'm pretty sure for now, since there has been no official 6.0 update yet, you'll have to go with Cyanogenmod 13 (or one of the variants like Bliss 6.0 or Resurrection-Remix), they're in the unified development section (our phone's development codename is KLTE).
As for deciphering the baseband, look at the last three characters, let's assign them generic letters XYZ. X is the year (M being 2013, N being 2014, O being 2015, P being 2016, etc.), Y is the month (substitute the actual letter for its position in the alphabet), and Z is the revision number. So taking the most recent firmware (G900TUVS1FOL1) as an example: OL1: O means 2015, L means December, and 1 means 1st revision. Another example, build number G900TUVU1ANE6: NE6: N means 2014, E means May, and 6 means 6th revision.
It seems to me there's been some consensus that the most recent modem (which rlichtefeld linked to in the post above mine) is the best
Much Thanks!!!!
@rlichtefeld and @thisisapoorusernamechoice
I really appreciate the information gentlemen!!!! I've been reading through the info you both provided.
I did flashed my modem (only) to the newest one, G900T_OG6_Stock_Modem.tar. Ended up having to flash back to the modem for 5.0, G900TUVU1DOB1-MODEM.tar, because I literally could not hear anyone when I made or received calls.....
Also had to used Odin v3.09, because v3.10.6 wouldn't recognize my phone. Strange that!!
This ADB installer was very helpful!! It fixed problems I was having on the PC I was using to flash my phone. Much thanks to @Snoop05 for the ADB installer for the PC. It keeps you from having to install the full SDK for Android.
Thread moved to proper forum.

Is your phone completely stock? Have you flashed anything else before, like a custom ROM and then went back to stock or are you still on a custom ROM or anything like that? Or is your phone still the same as when you unboxed it?

It sounds like you might need your local carrier's CSC, but that would be from the snapdragon model not the exynos one that you have. Meaning that you would likely need to root your phone and either change CSC by flashing a custom rom with CSC selection option, or flashing a standalone csc-switching zip. These methods would allow to use a Snapdragon CSC on your Exynos, and likely provide the features you want.

Thanks I really appreciate the help it looks like im going to try and root my phone seeing as i have an international model and samsung US doesnt provide warranty for it anyway because of such. I originally bought the phone from RAC because I work there so my discount was nice and I just recently got it completely paid off and was able to get them to remove there knox profile with out any hassle so no more rac system apps in my phone that just prevent you from doing a lot. Do you have any suggestions as far as where I should start I already have the latest version of odin downloaded on my computer but Ive never done this before Ive only recently started picking up an interest in development.
HI I'm from Brazil, I buy a samsung sm g611 MT yesterday and after I tried to put the bootloader in the ON mode, I came across only with "usb debug" options, but no longer "bootloader" option, I researched in google, youtube, and nothing solve my problem they said this option appears in some time and its necessary wait 7 days without turn de phone off,
so I've been thinking , would be possible to discconect from internet, and use some app like cheat engine who BE ABLE to "change the time" and bypass the 7 days ? with HEX ...
So if possible then we don't need no longer wait 7 days more , to "bootloader" option pop up..
As I see in this post I belive its necessary install this ".zip" to block the "reactivation" of RMM right? this ".zip" works fine in android 8, september patch?
and this RMM really activate by himself?
-if yes people who install root and other will brick their phones because rmm will lock phone with root installed , so its would be super necessary the installation of .zip file
is that true?
Its hard survive without root nowadays

Actually I had to back the phone to Android 7.1 and it's working pretty well only one more thing, my friends already have root for Android 8.0 but I'm happy here with this Android 7.1 I created my first v
additional information: someone who already unlock this bootloader , could put the files here ? to install twrp, and magisk root , it would be really nice, and I'll be grateful
It seems you have learned english with Tim Explica isn't it?
Alright, let's check the facts. No one has compiled TWRP for our phone and we're not gonna have root either.

Alright, I think there is some trick to make this work. However I couldn't manage to the custom recovery because the system replaces with the original stock recovery. I'm not mad at all, but I will try again.
Hello,
I recently acquired a refurbished S9+ and as many other people, I realise now that someone must have been messing around with the internal software. This is my secondary phone so it's no big deal but I would like to understand what was done on it nevertheless, and maybe turning it back to a cleaner state, if possible, and if it has not too many drawbacks.
-apparently, Samsung Pay is not working. It hangs indefinitely on the screen where you must choose the type of security.
-when looking into the Play Store settings, the device is not certified
-WiFi calls apparently are unavailable
-OTA update is not working (nothing happens when I try to check for an update manually. What's more, no information about the last update is available. By the way, the phone software is outdated. (last Android security fix is dated from Feb 2019)
From what I read, it looks like the CSC was modified, right ? Would it be a good idea to change it back to original ? (I may need some guidance about that but we are not there yet) Would such a procedure restore, for instance, the OTA update feature ?
(see pictures attached - there is what is written on the phone's back cover too, if it can help)
Thank you very much in advance. Please tell me if you need some other specific screenshots.
PS : I also bought a Note 10+ from the same refurbisher and it ended up being a Korean model. But the firmware seems clean. I know Samsung Pay won't work in France, WiFi calls either, and I will be stuck in "LTE" 4G instead of 4G+ but at least OTA updating is functionnal (I got an update a few days ago) and honestly ? That's fine with me for the price.
Anyone ?
From what I've read researching on similar issues, the previous owner who messed around with the internal software must've flashed custom firmware on your S9+, and probably tripped Knox (and is why your Samsung Pay app won't work). According to some developers on here, you're able to hide the fact that you've rooted the phone, but I don't think you can un-trip Knox once it's been done.
Prior to your post, I didn't know a single thing about CSC and I'm not sure how it's really relevant when flashing a mobile device (unless it's carrier-related), but I think all that's required when flashing a device is the model number. Luckily, I stumbled upon a thread that is actually your exact, same model! Do what you please with it, and I hope I helped — I'm not a professional, nor am I really knowledgeable about all of this stuff, but I'm trying.
This is the thread I was talking about:
Official Stock Firmware Thread (11 August 2022) - Galaxy S9+ (SM-G965F)
UPDATE (7 APRIL 2022): Samsung has officially declared the Galaxy S9 and S9+ EOL. They will no longer be supported, and FVB4 will most probably be the final build for this device. Latest stable firmware: G965FXXUHFVG4 / G965FOXMHFVB4 /...

You're welcome! Was it what you were searching for?
Not sure, but I hope it will help me understand the firmware/CSC stuff better
Alright so apparently this phone actually is a SM-965N, judging by what is displayed when booting into download mode.
Unfortunately I only saw this after starting a flashing attempt with Odin and now it's stuck at "system.img" so... I'm gonna let it run a few more hours but...
It's most likely bricked at this point, isn't it ? (edit : interestingly, after I forced-closed Odin and reboot the phone, it was not)
If you ask me I find this kind of "refurbishing" a little bit sketchy to say the least.
