How to hide apps from other apps? (Like Sudohide) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As said in the title, looking for a way to hide app/s from app/s. Why, you ask? Because it's really annoying to use Snapchat (and other apps) that lock you out because they can tell what apps you have installed (Magisk Manager, Xposed installer, etc). Snapchat in particular angers me with their constant bs.. Passing safetynet is no longer enough. Sudohide worked; if you're okay with android crashing every few minutes, and is outdated. It would be appreciated if anyone knows any other apps or methods!

Several apps crashing

Hello, I dont know if I should be posting here or in the ROM thread, but this may not be ROM related.
I flashed a new ROM recently. I installed these apps from the Play Store to make sure they were working fine :
SwiftKey, Wakelock Detector, and Tapatalk
They worked well without any issues. Later I restored a backup with TiB of multiple apps, including Xposed modules. Now these apps crash upon start or in the case of SwiftKey, when I try to access my themes.
I have many apps. It's there an easy way to find out what the issue is? I'm guessing it's another app, most likely an Xposed module, but I can't imagine what it would be.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Never-ending, the offender was an Xposed module called Force Fastscroll
Never mind *

Ads detection apps

Hi everyone,
I'm asking if there is any app can detect the ads source in the phone
, because some times we keep installing apps then we discover there is a lot of ads and we don't know which app causing these ads.
What do you mean?
If the ad is inside your app, then the answer is obvious.
If the ad is a notification, long press on the notification and get application information.
If the ad is an overlay or anything non-standard, I first suggest better selecting what you install... You may get some help by listing running task from the application manager.
Also, the MinMinGuard xposed module can also tell you about the ad networks used by each app as long as they are known (and block them).

Do you try adaway?
Do you have install exposed? If yes then find adblocker 1.4 on exposed it will help you to block annoying ads.
I use min min guard. It's an xposed module and does a great job. Set it to auto and forget about it

Auto-hibernation not working ?

Hello.
So, I got greenify. I always thought it was a free app, but for the first time this week I really started using it and when I tried to hibernate some pre-loaded (system) apps, it didn't let me without the donation package. I thought "ok, maybe it's better. Paid apps generally know what they are doing".
But to my surprise, apps like YouTube, even Samsung's "Clock" and others, keep coming back, and even non-pre-loaded apps (such as facebook) do not stay in hibernation (at least, I always see them under the "Will hibernate in a few minutes when screen"... by the way, "when screen" what ?). So I always have to manually hibernate apps I open and use, and some keep waking up on their own anyway (when greenify promises they won't, that one has to manually execute apps for them to wake up, then that they will auto-hibernate once closed). I might be actually disappointed in paying for this. It's not working, and I turned greenify "on" in "accessibility" too.
Also, I don't want to risk flashing Xposed to still be able to get notifications when I already use TWRP and SuperSU (and my ROM is official, yet customized by myself, since I uninstalled all bloatware, then just backed up the new ROM with TWRP and reinstalled it), plus, Xposed says it is compatible with "6.0", so Idk if that includes Android 6.0.1 or not. But I wish Greenify's devs had been smart enough not to kill every push notifications.
Any greenify experts out there whom know how to finally make auto-hibernation work by itself, and make apps like Facebook quit being stubborn ?
Any light with getting notifications still too ?
Thanks in advance.
Apps that wake up on device's boot:
Camera
Clock
Featured (apps) *widget
Email (Samsung app)
Facebook
Galaxy Apps
Gallery
Gmail
Play Music
Google+
Hangouts
Internet (Samsung's browser)
Maps
Memo (Samsung)
Messenger (Facebook)
My Files (Samsung)
Opera Max
Photos
Recarga Certa (Samsung's app for adding creds to SIM)
Smart Manager
Theme Store
Twitter
Video (Samsung)
YouTube
Some of these are the ones that keep waking up during operation (not just on boot), such as Facebook, Clock and Opera Max.

Greenify "went away" as did two apps it had hibernated, now I can't re-install them
Hi,
I recently rooted my AT&T LGv30 and installed TWRP and Magisk 1.6. I then installed Xposed via Magisk Manager and played with it a bit. I went on to install Greenify donation and enabled all the beta and aggressive stuff, as well as Xposed integration. I later discovered that Xposed breaks SafetyNet checks so I decided to remove it. When I did, Greenify "went away". I had to re-install it. It was only later that I noticed 2 other apps were missing, namely Xmeye (a security camera app notorious for consuming battery) and Spotify (here I was just playing around, but Greenify said it was using battery, so...). These were the only two apps I had added to Greenify.
I then attempt to re-install both of these apps from the Google Play store. It goes through the process of downloading, then installing, but at the end of the installation process, the Google Play button simply reverts back to "Install", as if nothing happened. The same thing happens when I try again, on either app. I can install any other app just fine.
I've run the latest Xposed uninstaller zip from recovery, but this didn't help. I do have a vague recollection of Greenify continuing to run in root + Xposed mode after Xposed had been removed, if that makes any sense. Eventually, after a subsequent re-install of Greenify (not if before or after Xposed was removed), it then walked my through the setup again, and is now running only in root mode. Yet, the problem with the two apps remains.
I'm hoping someone has a suggestion before I wipe everything and start over.
Thanks,
Daniel
Following up on my own post. I ended up installing SD Maid, which was able to show me both Spotify and Xmeye as "stopped". From the app I selected to delete both applications, which I could not do anywhere else, as they didn't show up in normal apps. My guess is that Greenify with Xposed and therefore root caused some file ownership issue that the normal utilities were not able to handle.

Root cause likely resides elsewhere; Greenify doesn't mess with permissions.

Yet the two apps managed by Greenify stopped working. So you're saying correlation does not equal causation? Because the evidence here indicates otherwise. Just sayin'...

Correlation assumed but unproven. Greenify has been around a long time with a large user base. The situation you describe appears to be an outlier.

Rooted, but still ads

Hi All,
My mi A3 is rooted, I try to keep it somewhat up to date ”qssi-user 10 QKQ1.190910.002 V11.0.8.0.QFQEUXM”
And Magisk as well. I keep using AdAway all the time but the ads are still there. Checked the hosts file - all good with it it, tried Systemless hosts (not sure what it does), but I still see ads (simple banners) in apps. And they are not in the "bad apps" list. Very simple small apps have ads in them. I sometimes manage to have them removed (the apps) but in a day or 2 (maybe after restart) they are back
Any clues? Anyone with similar issues?
You should use this Magisk module called Energized, I don't use it anymore, but it really worked great for me. The setup process is little involved tho.
Currently I'm using Private DNS service from AdGuard to block ads - it doesn't need root access and the setup process is very easy. You don't have to download anything either. It works quite well for a no-root solution
