Weird WiFi Problem Not opening Pages - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hey guys. So my Mate 20 Pro has the WEIRDEST issues. When connected to wifi a few web pages etc are not opening. Instagram can't refresh feed etc. But if I use my Mobile Connection or use a Proxy when connected to the wifi everything works. The same wifi connection on the pc works flawlessly. Opens every single page immediately including the ones not opening on the phone, and even plays games effortlessly.
What do you think is holding back this connection on my phone?

Sounds like you were using public WiFi and some tend to use a firewalls which block lots of different things, I was on the train the other day and they didn't allow forums

The wi-fi on my phone has been screwed since day one. It still 'works' for most things, like games and such, but web pages or links in a reddit app will mostly load (the progress bar will speed along and then grind to a halt) and then... Nothing. When I googled around, it seems like Huawei devices in general are known for this - a smattering of people have devices that are simply broken on wi-fi. Now, I haven't done extensive testing, so it may be the wi-fi devices in combination with the phone that are the problem. It isn't like I have tested this with all kinds of types of routers/bands. It certainly is strange, normally when a wi-fi signal is pooched you simply 404 or stop dead. The way my phone 'almost' loads sites makes it feel like an error checksum protocol spiraling out of control, choking the connection.
If I didn't have a lot of data with my plan, I would have attempted to return my phone.

[super noob] Extremely unstable data connection (phone issue, with linux on pc)

Hi there,
i'm very noob to pdas in general, i have this herm100 that my friend sold me when i needed to get internet access (i combined my budget for phone and internet in one).
Well, after a while of hard work, i was able to get data working on my Linux PC (EeePC 701). The connection was closing automatically when not in use, this behavior is useful when not used as modem (to keep battery).
I created a script that "connects" my pc to the phone (it setups the interface's ip, etc...), when connected, it then pings the phone (10.0.0.1) and pings my host on the internet by IP (this tests that i have access to the internet). It makes other tests too to make sure dns is working and that my webserver on that host is still working too...
I make the pings to the host by ip every 15 seconds (or less when it fails). With this and minimal internet usage, the connection will drop on the phone 2 to 5 times a day.
When i say that the connection drops, i mean that ping to the phone works, but ping to the internet fails, times out. Most the time, the internet sharing prog on wm6 says it's still connected. Many times, if i try to access the web from the phone it will fail (wait forever, rarely will also freeze). So when the internet is dropped, one time out of 4 i have to reset the device (i found that shutting down for a while gives even better results).
I just recently got a super promo for my data package with my isp and my limit got increased a lot... I tried downloading torrents. Downloading torrents will cause the phone to drop connection _at_least_ every 5 minutes!!! The device is also pretty hot (like i wouldnt like to have that heat in my jeans pocket but doesnt hurt when touching). I have setup my torrent application to limit download and upload speed so that overall no more than 15 KB/sec is used and this increases stability a lot, but it will still fail within 10-20 minutes.
I wonder if the hardware could be responsible, but i'm clearly sure that the OS is the one most responsible (it fails to detect the network is down and fails to at least try to bring it back). Maybe an os upgrade or hard reset would help. But if i have to go that far i might just try to install linux on it instead (openmoko probably, unless you suggest anything else?)
I was wondering if you guys could help stabilize my connection a bit?
Thanks!
Simon

Wifi only works once

Ive been putting up with this problem for ages, but thought I would try to get to the bottom of it.
I set up Wifi in the normal manner on the Athena, and enter the code. All is set up fine and wifi connects to my network. However if I start internet explorer for instance it will load the home page, Google in my case and it loads it fine. then when I try to load ANY OTHER page, it just says page not found. Its not just a google thing, or an I/E thing. my face book App will only load once, HTC home/weather will only load once. it will only connect to messaging once. All the other laptops, my HTC universal, all work fine. I even tried other roms, but always the same problem. I have T-mobile unlimited wap but its nice to have fast wifi to.
Has any of you clever sparks got an idea what it can be?
Regards
Jay

[Q] Internet connection problem (WIFI)

Hi all,
I got problem with internet connection on my HD2 (ROM 1.48). There are 2 ways I connect to the internet - WIFI and GPRS. GPRS connection works fine - I can download and read e-mails, make backups with MyPhone, update weather information, etc. But when I connect to the internet with WIFI, there are only 2 things I can do. I can browse web pages with Opera and update Twitter messages. But I can´t download e-mails, make backups, update weather information, etc. When I try to update or backup something, there is connection error (through that connection between phone and router is fine and web pages are running).
It seems to me like most of applications want to connect to internet via GPRS only. Is there any way to set up (or check) the phone to connect to the internet via WIFI when it is turned on?
Thanks for any advice
Sorry cant help but agree - it would be fantastic if there was some way of knowing / controlling when it used GPRS data and when it uses wifi. When wifi availabe obviously would rather use that than be charge a small firtune for data.
Any one out there about to help with this??
Internet browsing
Ditto. I can - after HUGE effort - connect WiFi but I cannot browse the internet using either Opera or IE. 2 year old Nokia connected and browsed literally within 2 secs! Also, the phone keeps connecting via GPRS all the time even with data connections off. Can anyone help? Thanks PS I know it's unproductive & forgive me, but I have to get this off my chest: this is the worst cellphone I've ever owned. Bluetooth doesn't work, internet doesn't work, handsfree car kit doesn't work. Does anything work?

correction, YOUR Bluetooth doesn't work, YOUR internet doesn't work, YOUR handsfree car kit doesn't work.
Get it exchanged. (if they genuinely dont work)
@others, go to settings menu all settings connection connections advanced select networks.
there are two dropdowns, in teh top one should be the name of your mobile data, , this is what automatic progs will use to connect to the web, in teh bottom one it should be 'the internet' (or sometimes 'my work network'), meaning they use wifi if available, and data if not.
(At least thats how they should work....)
If you set the top one the same as teh bottom one, nothing should try to use mobile unless wifi is not connected.
Could be a proxy problem? some operators set up a proxy, which can screw with connections.
samsamuel: Thank you for your advice. I´ve tried it - in both dropdowns I got "my work network", but no success.
I´ve found something interessting. When I turn on YouTube client (using WIFI), I can´t play videos. That should be ok when I got problem with internet connection. But YouTube client shows on the welcome screen preview of today´s added videos. So the question is why should application download preview of video, but it can´t play the video? I´m a little bit confused
Thanks for the suggestion, but I had tried that already and it did not work. I don't think it is just my cellphone. There are many comments re the HD2 that make it clear that it does not work with a Parrot handsfree carkit, Motorola S9 headset etc, and the 2 earlier posts reveal problems using WiFi too. It seems to be problematic on many fronts. I cannot even connect it using Windows Mobile via an USB port! And while I appreciate all suggestions it seems to me that this model is a (very expensive) lemon and frustrates huge numbers of owners. I find it odd that a 2 year old Nokia N95 can connect and browse instantly and a 'smart phone' doesn't work at all. I find it to be very gimmicky. I don't need twitter, facebook etc. I need voice dial, good PC software (like Ovi and PC suite) and bluetooth that works etc. The HD2 has none of this, but great graphics of a windscreen wiper, exactly the sort of pointless gimmick that reveals that the designers were interested in making a toy and not a useful phone.
I suggest you try and install "HTC_Wi-Fi_onDemand_by_Krocher". This program will always use wifi when available and stop the GPRS from connecting and will also keep your wifi on a stand-by. Please do read through the thread as you have to make sure that no programs using wifi are activated when you want it to be off. For me it solved several problems with wifi.
Second thought is to upgrade to one of the much more stable and already tweaked OS's. There are quite a lot out and you'll find everything about that on this forum as well.
Last thought, if it does not work it must be something to do with either the settings or the OS version as for others it works absolutely fine. These are complicated phones that, much like computers, must be set and tweaked to the correct settings in order to get the best out of them. If you just want a "buy and run" phone this is not the one.
Success,
Itamar

Wifi tools?

Maybe what I'm looking for doesn't exist or maybe it does, I don't know.
I've been on the hunt for a decent app that is like a tech's "dream come true" when it comes to Wifi tools and functionality. I'm not an IT professional or anything, but looking for more than an average "oh look, here's a wifi network" app.
A few apps that I've come across and tried...
Wifi Analyzer
Two of the things I like most about it - the AP list and the signal meter. It also lets me grab a snapshot so I can look at it later.
Wi-Fi Analytics (amped|wireless)
The ap list (WiFi Scanner as it's referred to) is nice but cluttered. Between Wifi Analyzer and this, I'd say both are somewhat the same, though I think Analyzer is better.
Fing
Still playing with it, though it doesn't seem to offer much (unless making an account gives more functions).
Wolf WiFi Pro
Only having used the demo, maybe it has what I'm looking for. The demo alone, though, was a let down.
Of the different apps I've tried (listed or not), some offer similar features such as detecting how many networks are using the same channels, graphs to show signals, etc. That's nice, but seems common enough that it's tossed in there just to say it's a feature, as opposed to being a provided tool in addition to something that other apps don't offer.
What I'm looking for is more or less this... An app that will provide a compact listing of found networks. Constant scanning or manual scanning. Option to log details about the results (date, time, gps location). Function to use found results to generate a 'map' of found networks and if the same network is found in multiple logs, use the different locations to try to form a better fix on where that network is originating from. Once a network is detected, optionally be able to keep a record of it even if it's not being picked up anymore (along with date/time of first finding and date/time and gps location of strongest signal). When viewing the list of found WLAN's, tapping on one won't prompt to connect to it, but instead bring up a page of tools. Miniature signal meter (like Wifi Analyzer does it, rather nice), button to click to connect, button to add notes about the discovered AP, along with information such as security, mac ID (which most seem to provide) and anything else that is possible to show. I dare say, ability to detect what devices (computers or otherwise) are attempting to connect (or are connected) to the AP as well (useful if I want to see if someone is somehow connecting to my network even if it's not showing up in any logs).
Is there anything even remotely close to what I'm describing? Are there any recommend Wifi tool like apps that I just haven't come across yet? When looking on Google's Play store, most of the apps seem to be like practice apps that more or less do the same thing as using the built in Wifi connection manager.
Using a T989 with Jellybean (rooted, stock OS or whatever).
You might find something here that is describing your needs. But what your describing my be a little too advanced for android.

Thanks, but already saw that topic. I read that and a couple of others before making this one in case what I was asking for was more or less already answered. What I'm describing may sound complex but I'm sure it's really just a matter of designing it to act in certain ways vs the "easy route." ie, it's easy to make it so tapping on a found network will ask if you want to join the network. Heck, if that's what I wanted, then I could just use the built in manager. Using one of the tools, I did discover that the wireless I'm running was on the same channel as a couple of others nearby. So I changed the routers two use a couple of different channels that were showing as empty.
Just comes down to wanting the best from each app that happens to have a good feature or two and packing it all together in one solid app.

Problem with android devices and wifi

Hello guys
I have very strange problem with my wifi at home.
Problem is web pages wont load sometimes, sometimes they load few minutes, and sometimes they load instantly.
Same goes for apps like youtube, ebay, playstore.
For example, i google something in web browser, the first search works like a charm, or the second, but the new one then just keep loading forever or wont load at all.
I tryed all android web browsers, stocks, chrome, opera, mozilla, etc, and its all the same, neither works.
The problem exsist on android devices, so far on my note 3, htc m8, samsung s2, and tablet leonovo.
Got 2 wifi networks at home, and on both the same problem.
Tho the wifi works fine on my 3 laptops, no problems at all there.
I have no problem with my devices on other wifi networks, or on 3g,4g network, so it must be something about my home wifi and android devices, since my laptops works with no problem.
bump
any hint or tip would be nice, ty
weird!
If there wasn't any Internet connection, laptops too shouldn't run.
Do anybody else know the password, who can block u?
Nope, noone knows the passwords.
Two routers , and both have problems with only android devices.
But if it were problem with routers, then i should have problems with my laptops too, but thats not the case.
