You don't need the fone on to be able to track it. It only needs the battery to some juice. The fone is automatically tracked by its SIM contacting the masts it is near. Now the thief can dump the SIM but there's also the IMEI. So set a password on starting it up and make sure it is encrypted, always.

Ok so basically all i want to do is this: find my phone if I lose it or it's stolen, even if the sim card is changed.
If the sim card is not changed-I have installed sms gps enabler and after that if I lose the phone I can enable wifi and gps with an sms, and then should use seekdroid to find the phone BUT the phone must be conected to a wifi network with internet connection to actually be able to find the phone on the site..so it kind of sucks.
So, any suggestions? As I said I can enable gps remotely but would need an app to send gps coord through sms(or something like that) and use and online app to find the phone on the map.
I think this is what you're looking for...

I'm considering installing that also, but I don't have the habit of leaving location enabled (well, it still can enable it remotely through internet or SMS).
But, after all, it seems simply fantastic!!!
lots of features but for me it only works if wifi enabled and connected to a network..
you can always enable connection by sendind proper sms. Dont worry
SMS features are similar to internet features I think.
yes you can enable wifi with an sms BUT maybe the phone is in an area that doesn't have any wireless networks...and even if there are any , the phone will not automatically connect to a wireless network...

Ok, as I said in the first post, the phone needs wifi for you to locate it online using seekdroid website and I said that I would want something that uses only sms messaging and (eventually) real time locating on a map

Well, you're right. After many efforts I found it to be the best option for finding the phone. You just send the attention word for the gps, the gps goes on and in a few minutes you get the gps coordonates for your phone as well as a google maps link to the location. When you think you are close enough you can text the attention word and the phone will ring with max volume no matter if silent/vibrate setting is selected. Also, if sim card is changed it will send the new number to a preselected phone number.
In my opinion, if this software would have had some real time tracking through on online map it would have been perfect. Anyway, as said, I think this is the best option if you ever lose your phone or it gets stolen.
Hello mates,
When i try to install a wifi network in my university i need a certificate. When i install it with the network,it always wants me to setup a lockscreen with a pin or a pattern. I know this is a issue caused by the systemadmin, but is there any solution to turn this off, because it is very annoying for me.is there any app or a setting i can change?
Regards,
DaKiii
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
JUST PUT A PIN AND THEN USE A AUTO PIN PROGRAM LIKE THIS ONE
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...5iZW5oaXJhc2hpbWEudW5sb2Nrd2l0aHdpZmlmcmVlIl0.
sry i could not reply before, i was very busy with my studies. i tried it now, it works very good when i connect to my university network, but i want the locking with pin or pattern beeing disabled also if i connect to my usual data network without wifi or if i dont use any internet connection.
is there a possible solution?
Hey,
A friend of mine wants to lock the data connection of his 11 years old daughter's phone. So i thought, this would be easy, change the DNS as root to localhost or something like that. I read that it is possible to do so with the Wifi connection, but not permanent with the mobile data. This would just work for the current session, after a phone reboot, the normal mobile data DNS is back.
So my question is, what could i do, to lock every data connection? Is it possible?
Thanks for the answers!
why not just remove all apns and saved wi-fi networks? then there would be no mobile networks or wi-fi networks to connect to.
also, why does an 11 year old girl have an s2? if one isn't able to check on what their child is doing on the internet, and/or won't let them on the internet at all, might the s2 not be a little much?
This girl is not stupid, she knows how to connect to a Wifi network. Also it's thus a metter of time, till she knows to add the correct apn, or a friend of her does it.
I need a solution to realy change someting, that data is no longer possible. So she, or someone who knows a little bit about smartphones cannot enable it.
well that certainly is respectable, she knows how to crack wpa2 wi-fi keys?
then your dns trick, even if it were stored permanently, would be no use either.
i don't know, what country you are from, but at least here, every carrier offers the possibility to disable mobile data connections for your sim card. that way, no matter what you try to set up, the carrier would not accept you into their mobile network.
Could you delete APNs and wifi keys, then lock the settings app so the 11 year old cannot access it to edit the connection settings?
ZDBox is freeware and contains a reliable app locking tool.
I already added it but it says that my account isn't connected to my device so it says to add it through developer options. But the problem is that it needs 4g/data which i don't have and can't access.

AFAIK, what is needed is mobile data and not "4G". If you have 3G, enable data and try.

Because data network is needed to connect your phone number with Xiaomi aacount. As i said before, it wont work with wifi, you have to do it with mobile data.

Are you sure? Because I was able to link my phone with Mi account while being on WiFi, so this is something new for me. Any credible source describing such limitation?

Who needs creditable source. Just try to add ur account without sim card
Who's talking about adding Mi account without SIM card? Thread is about adding MI account without access to mobile data, OP did not mention that he does not have SIM card and phone number at all?

You wouldn't know how the Mi account was accessed from the mobile if it also had a sim. I know that when wifi is enabled, mobile data is not accessed but we really don't know whether mobile data was accessed or not. That was why the earlier poster told you to attempt the linking without a sim. For all we know, Xiaomi may have a way of accessing mobile data even when wifi is enabled.
I got ppl in my Projects that I know keep monitoring me after i used their Passworded wifi, I tried LibreAV and Sophos intercept X knowing they wouldnt work and all that comes up as infected is Amaze filebrowser, VirtualExposed, and OpenHub... and I dont think it's any of these....
they must be using Kali with Nmap or something i guess and letting their associates operate it which I am okay with I guess but I got MoneyMaking ideas I'm trying to keep private and I think my use of Tor has them spreading rumors that im looking at other stuff..
Reset the device to factory settings and only use your own wifi network or the internet connection of your SIM card operator.

This would be too much work as I spent daaaays setting up this instance of android and configuring the apps...
Their has got to be a way to use this network without getting infected and clean my phone and I am sure the little 'TWEAK' it would take to the OS to remove the VIRUS... would be less work than a reinstall...
If you think your mobile phone is infected with a virus and you are unwilling to perform a factory reset, you can try an anti-virus app such as Malwarebytes.
