Only getting Q.C 2.0 TA when charging - LG V30 Questions & Answers

i don't have the included charger for the V30 but i do have the official charger that came with my old G6 so i use that.
I noticed that when going to the SVC menu and then Battery Information, the High voltage status only shows Q.C 2.0 TA using the G6 charging brick. I then checked on the G6's SVC menu using the same charging brick, cable and outlet, and it shows USB_HVDCP_3 which i think is Q.C. 3.0? Q.C. 3.0 shows up when i search USB_HVDCP_3, correct me if im wrong.

Luckily certified QuickCharge 3.0 charges are inexpensive. You can get a 3-pack for like $12 with free shipping.
3-Pack CERTIFIED Quick Charge 3.0 USB Wall Charger Adapter,18W
I know your question is why your LG G6 charger doesn't show QC 3.0 on your LG V30. I don't know.

thanks for the suggestion. is that a trusted brand? i saw some old posts that lg doesn't include QC 3.0 charging bricks with their devices so i was also thinking of buying a new brick.

Well, they are certified. (see below) I just bought a 3-pack as I need some more chargers.
However, if you definitely want a "trusted" brand, then go with Anker. I have those also.

Got them yesterday, they work well.
Bought them for less than $12 ($11.88), with free shipping. Normal price is $12.25. Mine was discounted slightly for purportedly having "damaged" packaging, but I couldn't see any thing wrong. See attached pictures I took.
Great price for THREE compact certified QuickCharge 3.0 wall chargers.

Can you screenshot the charging info just for the record, would like to see that if you can do it and share it here. The *#546368#*998* - Svc Menu - Battery Test - Battery information thing when you have one of those QC3 chargers attached and charging?
Thanks...
Pretty sure we all know what it looks like but here's mine just in case:

That code doesn't work for me, had to use Shortcut Mass to get into hidden menu.
Here's screenshots but I can't explain why it says 2.0.
Tomorrow I'll find one of my other QC 3.0 chargers. That may just be what this phone does.

My apologies, the correct code is:
*#546368#*998*
Left out a # sign after the code there, sorry.
*#546368#*<3 digit model code>*

ill send a picture shortly. So is it normal for the "charge now raw" to be negative numbers? i get that too with 100% being only in the 500k mark and near 0% at near 3 million.

from my svc menu. and also, i thought the lg v30 battery was li-po but in every picture of the battery and specs i see li-ion

The numbers aren't particularly meaningful and more to show activity I'd say. Not worth focusing on, the fact is your device is working, it's charging, and that's all that really matters.

No matter the certification, I'd never get one of those funny brands again, it's just a catastrophe waiting to happen. Had it once, it was totally unreliable after a while, you'll probably regret it.

Here's my screenshot on my Anker car charger, QuickCharge 3.0. Same battery info in the Hidden Menu.
So, either the Hidden Menu is wrong (maybe never updated for QuickCharge 3.0 readout), or LG V30 only charges at 2.0.

It does make one wonder, hence me asking for a screenshot. I wonder if there's anyone out there with a V30, any model, and a true honest to goodness QC3.0 charger that will be able to provide a screenshot that does actually show - presuming it's not edited - QC3.0 in action on it...

These seem very well made and are probably the exact same chargers Aukey or others sell under their name.
I also found these being sold under another brand name on Amazon -- for $6 more.
They say they are factory direct to the public, so I understand that. Exactly how Asus started. Before Asus became major name brand, they manufactured products Dell and others sold under their brand names -- but Asus was the secret designer/manufacturer.
I see that happen with Qi wireless chargers also. Same design, same hardware, different brand names on Amazon. Why? Because the Chinese factory is the same and different companies are selling the exact same product.
I also saw that with LG Blu-ray players. Same factory that makes LG Blu-ray players also makes the Best Buy "Insignia" Blue-ray players and they're practically identical.

Yes, it does feel faster on 3.0 chargers.
Sent via open market LG US998 V30/V30+

It also says "QC 2.0TA" when using my Anker PowerPort1+ QC3.0 charger with any of the USB cables I have. Same with the white stock charger. I have an european 930.
Which is a bummer because I ordered this charger mainly to get QC3.0 support. Sadly I have no USB voltmeter on hand to check if the dynamic voltage is used or not.

Using the LG V20 power brick and USB cable.

Is there any kind of portable charger for HTC touch pro 2 battery which can charge battery via USB?
For example to charge battery from computer (like phone charges the battery).

But I am not talking about cradle chargers which can accommodate battery and phone at the same time.
and also not these chargers, they just support the USB as an output not as input!
So with this charger you can charge battery and phone only with AC power.
OK, gotta ask
Why you want this? You can charge the phone directly with a USB to USB-mini cable, and if you have a laptop and use it for any length of time you will plug it in (so one of the cheap plug in chargers would work for this purpose).
For the above reasons I don't think anyone has made a device such as you describe.

Thanks for reply.
I want this kind of charger to charge batteries with some cheap and non-reliable sources during traveling.
Like:
If I charge mobile pone directly I am afraid that the phone will be danaged.
whats wrong with a cradle charger for that? just because it has the dock for the phone doesnt mean you have to use it, and you can get the cradles for cheap on ebay, and ive never seen one just for charging batteries

OK, you must be going to some rough country where there may not be power, correct? I think you may be stuck with simply powering the phone via the USB cable. So long as your manual hand crank only puts out the standard USB voltage, you should be fine.
He didn't want the charger...he's using the hard crank
if you have a multimeter you can check the voltage of the hand crank to determine if its safe to charge the phone directly

Nice diagram you drew out that CLEARLY spells out what you are looking for. Not sure how other people could not understand what you are looking for, as that's something I require for any new phone platform I use. The ability to charge a spare battery from USB power (5v, 500ma+) for when you are somewhere you need to swap batteries and keep the spare charged at all times, etc.
So to answer the OPs original inquiry:
1. HTC OEM spare battery charger, model "HTC BC S300". Uses USB power to charge the spare battery as it has no direct AC input.
2. Seidio's charger that allows for AC or USB powered charging of a spare battery, model "BD3-BCSI3HTP2-BK"
This one is pretty decent as you have two options to power the charger. I can confirm it works either way. The other benefit is you can just replace the charging plate to support other battery types. I bring this charger on any extended trip I go on and keep one in my luggage at all times.
You'll have to google for the model numbers I put in quotes as I do not have enough posts to include URLs in my replies yet. The first hit you get on google should show the relevant info.
As for how you obtain your USB power safely, that's a separate issue that you are on your own.

From the website it appears the HTC BC S300 is for the Touch Diamond or Touch Pro.
http://www.mobihand.com/productaccessories.asp?id=29936&n=HTC-External-Battery-Charger-(BC-S300)
However, the other model should work, but the picture indicates that one would have to buy a male-to-male USB cable rather than the normal A to B cable for it to charge. I think this model would be the one to use.

35 dollars is pretty steep for that IMO
and for the record, i understood what he wants, i was just curios why the combo dock+battery charger was unacceptable, since it has a USB powered battery charger (at least the one i got did, 25 dollars shipped on ebay, even came with a second battery, much better than the 35 for the OEM battery charger)

Oops, I just edited the post you quote. That one was for the original Touch Pro, NOT the TP2.
He wants one that will charge FROM the USB port, evidently so that he can use a portable USB hand-powered generator to charge the batteries. The ones on E-bay will output USB power, but not charge a battery FROM the USB power.
Are you saying you found an e-bay model that charges from the USB? Can you post a link?

No worries.
The Touch Diamond and Pro use the same default 1500mah battery the TP2's do. So the HTC OEM spare battery charger would work fine. That's one thing I love about HTC is they try to maintain the same type of batteries in most of their model line ups. Even their new Sprint EVO phone uses the same battery, nice!
That Seidio product link you listed is the same as the model number I posted. Good point on the cable. You would need a male to male type A USB cable to run from USB power. I carry various USB adapter plugs when I use it.
As for defaultdotxbe's post, seems you have the same concerns... he/she may have overlooked that the OP wanted a charger that runs off USB power. I have yet to see any of the combo docks on fleabay run strictly off USB vs providing USB power.

its actually a 10 cent capacitor (or battery) that makes any charger reliable, like my 2 dollar car charger
like this one for example: http://inspectusa.com/emergency-han...r-vzl3883-with-flashlight-compass-p-1109.html
the cranking isnt putting voltage over the USB directly, it charges a button cell battery which in turn charges the phone, so it works like a UPS for a computer system and regulates the voltage going to the phone, so its safe to charge directly (im actually thinking of buying that one myself, lol)
@stevedebi
the only cradle ive ever used was for my old sprint mogul and it charged the battery through USB so i assumed all cradles worked this way
defaultdotxbe
I found cheaper solution:
it applies USB power directly on moving pins to charge battery.
As usb voltage is compatible for HTC TP2 battery charging it will work as portable usb charger.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Universal-Mini-...ultDomain_0&hash=item19bdeabe0e#ht_3931wt_911
it costs just $1.15

Transformer Prime AC charger safe? My stock one is not good...

Hi!
I noticed my phone takes a long time to charge and some times when using it while charging I will get a message about the phone being discharging as the power supplied was not enough or something along those lines.
I downloaded the battery status widget and noticed that at best, the charger goes to about 850 but for that I have to keep moving it as it seems some where inside the ac adapter and the USA adapter plug connected to it, something is going wrong.
I tried the original Sony usb cable and a different one as well.
Either way, when I move the AC Adapter parts connected to the wall, the charge changes and go crazy on the Batter Status widget , sometimes even shows like not even plugged any more :/
So I thought about trying my Transformer prime charger or I can try ordering another one that you guys may recommend.
Thanks!
Here is a pic of the specs on that adapter.
Or maybe I can use a Samsung one like this?
Samsung Charger 2A
Although the above seems to be a fake...so maybe just go with a sony one?

Looks like your Asus charger is 1.2A (1200mAh), so it's not the beefiest one out there. I'm not sure what the Sony one is, but i think it's 1.5A. Mine outputs around 800 - 1300mAh on the magnetic charger, and it uses around 2 hours to charge it from 0-100%. I usually charge it when i go to bed, but i'm always using it when it's charging in the dock, like wathcing YouTube videos and TV shows. I have never gotten a notification that says it's being discharged while i charge.
Does it get hot when it charges? (spoiler: it shouldn't do that)
I would buy a new - genuine, Sony charger. The thing is, if you buy or use a different charger and your battery goes to ****s, you can wave goodbye to your warranty. Also, since the battery isn't replacable you should treat it like your own son.
But let me summon @hamdogg for you. He knows a lot more about batteries than i do. I guess he'll show up in a minute or 12 hours. Hard to tell But he's on his way.

hahahahah, you see that Asus charger confuses me because it says but then below it also says Output 5V=2A or 15V=1.2 I dont want to fry my phone!
So you get from 800 to 1300 using the Dk30?
Also, what is the model of your Sony charger. I want to try finding one with USA plug already so maybe that Sony one is the best option for me even though I would like to start going with Magnetic charger myself OR charging an external battery (if I get one) to avoid using the USB port too much.
I got the DK30 bundled with the phone. The charger model is EP880 and it outputs 1500mAh. It only says Sony on the dock itself.

Got ya. Well I decided to get the DK30 even though now I am having second thoughts since some user seems to be having luck just using the magnetic adapters and connecting any usb cable to that adapter instead..but oh well, I guess I will get the DK30 and see how it works out for me.
Still trying to decide on that 4500mAh case/battery too!

Sorry have been away for a few days...
amps are fine no matter what the range. So 1.5 right up to 4.0 amps will not damage your device.
Volts on the other hand can damage your device. Don't go above 6v.
You should be able to get 5.v and 2.0 amps out of a wall charger, if not then its not been made properly, or not efficiently
[I have a 2.1amp unit and it suits me fine]
The difference is that your device will pull what ever I can up to a maximum, It look like the ultra can only pull 2200 (give or take) out of a charging unit, so any wall charger that states its over 2.5 amps will be a waste.
-So don't pay extra for anything above 2.2amps thinking you'll get faster charging. You wont.

I got a free 5000mhz solar charger unit sent to me to review. I'll make a video for my channel shortly about this unit. Think it retails for $15 USD. Look pretty good, just need to test it on my ultra in a few days.
The thing with battery packs, is that it needs to be 200% larger than the internal battery. So if your Ultra battery is flat, then it charges off the 5000mhz battery pack, that would mean to it wont fully charge the ultra. It will get to 2500mha, and the battery pack will get down to 2500mhz, and then it wont be able to transfer charge. (Unless you can give charge to pack)
So my solar pack can charge my device to 75%, and then continue to charge it while the solar panel charges the pack..
Does that make sense??
There we go

Where can i buy original usb cable for nexus 6?

Hello i've lost my original usb cable. I can't find original (genuine) nexus 6 cable anywhere. Please help me. Thanks.
Is there any particular reason why you want a "genuine" Nexus 6 cable?
It's just a bog standard microUSB lead - you can get them anywhere, from 99p jobs on eBay up to decent brands like Anker from Amazon for a few pounds.
Anker and Monoprice are my go-to USB cables. They work well, are decently built, and reasonably priced. I see no reason to pay more for something that's, at best, as good as the ones I already use. I'm not aware of anywhere to buy the N6 OEM cable, maybe Motorola? They probably use the same one on most of their phones.
Monoprice is an excellent cable I replaced my original with it
Edit misspelling

Agree with him... Anker's quality is top of the line.
I use this cable and it just great:

And I agree with you. I only use Anker. Top quality. Sure they cost a little more, but I don't fool around when it comes to my phone. Monoprice is also pretty good for the price, and have a couple of those laying around.
Thanks for your replies. I thought there is no difference for file transfer but charging with a different cable may harm battery. Because of this i want a genuine cable. But after your answers i'm gonna buy an anker or a similar good quality cable.

You don't need to really worry about cables harming your battery unless there is something seriously wrong with them. Either way I really like the genuine cables too but there are high quality alternatives you can buy since a sable and charger is 30 bucks. I can't tell you what great cables would be because I use two genuine moto ones but, I can tell you to stay away from aukey. Their cables were loose fitting.

Which is why I included the "seriously wrong" bit because I've read the articles about Benson and the cables fried his devices because the ground and power leads were reversed. The micro-usb spec is fairly safe at this point, the main issue is manufacturers screwing up usb-c cables lately.

There are 3rd party cables that are just as good or better than original. I can guarantee an Anker cable will work perfectly and not harm your phone. Even if I had an original cable I would use an Anker instead. They're probably the best you can get.
Check this out: (braided and gold plated) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Anker-6ft-1...653234?hash=item2361fa5d72:g:ZBkAAOSwXshWrJei As a matter of fact, I just bought another one.

No original cable will beat that.
Thanks everybody i think i must buy an anker immediately
I've bought an anker cable but it seems turbo 2 output isn't supplied by this cable. That makes me upset? Without turbo charging its very bad

It's not the cable, it's your charger that's the problem.
I've bought this: "https://www.anker.com/products/A8133012"
I've measured charging times and compared.
I really don't understand that the cable matters for charging time or not?
I dont understand

The cable matters a lot, and the One you bought is the best from anker right now. I have one of those and use it with this charger:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014F3D8FQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00
Maybe, your problem is at the combination of the anker charger and the motorola wall adapter, who knows. Anyways, the best way to really compare, is to download this app (its not the most exact way but you get an idea)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gombosdev.ampere&hl=en
Let your phone drain to under 40% and connect it with the app open. If youre using the Oem Wall adapter it should go up to about 2200 o 2300, sometimes 2400. Try it and report back.
I've always stuck with genuine cables just for fear that a cheap cable would fail at fastboot flashing. My side question here, is do 3rd party cables do just fine with fastboot? Not fails or issues? Thanks!

There are very low quality cables that barely charge the phone at low speeds... Most of well known third party brands work just as the original one.

Something like a Belkin or Logitech? Or any of the brands already mentioned above?

Charger supplied is woefully underpowered (UK Moto G4 16GB) (NOT turbo charger)

Hi all
I am returning to xda after years. Nostalgia aside, this is more of a warning post for people looking to buy this phone. The standard charger I got with this phone outputs 5V, 550mA. Simple math shows that this charger will take 6 hours to charge the 3000mAh battery. In practice, I managed to fill from 5% to 45% in about 2.5 hrs before realizing what an awful charger I had been given and switched to my old Nexus 5 charger (5V, 1200mA). Then from 45% to 100% took less than 90mins. So the battery is OK. The software is fine and there are no background apps causing problems. If the software had been an issue then even my Nexus 5 charger would have had trouble...
Motorola support so far has been nearly useless but I have escalated the issue. One support guy told me that they expect a 4 hour charge time. This equates to a 5V 750mA charger. Does the company still think we are using Moto Razr from 2005? Another guy wasted half an hour asking scripted questions... I am actually shocked to know that such woefully underpowered phone chargers are even ordered for production these days. Even a USB 2 port supplies 5V 500mA and that wasn't even designed to act as a charger!
TLDR - buy the phone with the knowledge that the standard charger may not even work as paper weight (it is actually very light haha).
I can confirm this. It's kind of useless when it comes bundled with a phone that advertises turbo charging.
Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
I second this. My phone went to 0% and the charger is useless to get it back to life lol
Phone still blinking white led and unable to go on even after 1 hour charging. T_T
that's how the business runs and why the turbo charger sells separately.
Just ordered the 16gb G4. Would something like this from Amazon do the same job as Motorola's own turbo charger?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00KD1XQT8
It sounds like a little mis-advertising from Motorola. The one I just ordered said it included a Turbo Power charger.
Sent from my SM-T530NU using XDA-Developers mobile app
The Moto G4 comes with a standard charger, but the phone supports Turbo charging. The G4 Plus comes with the Turbo charger. (and 3MP extra camera res on the back and a fingerprint scanner, that's it)
I'm using the charger I have laying about for charging and they work good enough. However, I use the phone almost never, only for navigating and the 2-3 calls I get per month. (And messing about with sources so I can try to get cm build on it )
Note that the TurboCharger motorola is not necessary.
I used a compatible charger (Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0), and it works well.
20 minutes to reach 15%, and I have the toast that says "TurboPower Connected".
Does that charger have the same voltage and amperage as Motorola's overpriced charger?
I have been doing a lot of reading and research. I am not yet sure if the TurboPower charger will not be included for the U.S. release on July 12th. Doesn't seem hopeful though. Further google searches, after being tempted to buy the Motorola Turbo chargers for the wall AND car, led me to the Qualcomm website. The CPU that is in the the Moto G4, is Quick Charge 3.0 compatible. So, that in turn led me to other brands that sell Quick Charge 3.0 for cars and wall plugs. It sucks that you have to spend extra for the faster charging, but you can go with a much cheaper brand, such as Anker or, yootek, aukey, or choetech. Or whatever. Hope this helps. Just type in 1.5 GHz Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 617 on Google, which will lead you to where I got this information, at the official website for qualcomm.

Hopefully that is not a mistake and they aren't just talking about the Plus. Which I know does come with the Turbo charger. If it is true, great! I can send one of my chargers back.

Knowing Customer Service in the US, particularly Amazon and Motorola, if the G4 doesn't come with the Turbocharger one can just complain to Customer Service for either Motorola or Amazon and complain to get a free Turbocharger. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
EDIT: On the Amazon page it also says the Turbocharger is included with the G4. Either way I think we're good.

You'd be surprised how special US audiences are treated in terms of consumer products and service.
For instance when the New 3DS XL was released the US included a power adapter whereas in the rest of the world was told by Nintendo to use their own charger or buy one separately.

Usb type c cable capable of hypercharging

Hello ARP2 fellas i am currently in search of a replacement usb-c cable for my 30W charger as the stock one ended up in my dog's menu The official Asus cable (ACAU003) which comes with the 30W charger seems harder to find and even if i managed to spot a couple of them they sell for 20+$, add the shipping fees and it will cost as much as the 30W charger itself Is there anyone around who tried an aftermaket cable capable of 30W Hypercharging? Many usb-c cables from AliExp or Ebay are marketed as 100W ones but not everyone in the comments is happy with the quick charging results on their devices and that's why i am hesitant to buy one. Any help is appreciated.

Try Baseus, usb3.1 to C works great + very good quality, but didnt try their usbC to C yet, its supposed to arrive in around a week so I can give you an update then.
Thanks Vardes, if you will not forget about it jump in and share your thoughts please. I might wait some more until someone else replies. Yeah Baseus and UGreen have a lot of positive reviews, still many people complain about their fast charging results

I would recommend Apples USB-C to USB-C cable. I have been using that since my N10+ and now ROGPHONE 2.
I'm using 2 of these mcdodo cables, 2m each rated 5a.
With the original charger from Asus I must say that the charging is very very fast. And I'm using one to charge my phone in my car, with a 30w small Baseus charger.
They have new cables tho', something with autodisconnect if u check their page but i didn't got them so i don't know how good those are.

got my baseus c to c cable, tested it today with stock charger, it has shown me hypercharge and overall charging time was around 1.5h from 8 to 100%.
