I am using Tasker to do some scheduling tasks and it is working all flawlessly. Now there is one thing where I am stuck at.
I want to turn airplan mode on and power off my phone whenever the charging turns off. For this, tasker needs the device to be rooted.
Can you guys please suggest me what are the minimal steps I need to take to make this happen (minimal modification to the system) At this point of time I dont want to use the other amazing features which rooting provides but just powering off my device and turning airplane mode on using tasker / MacroDroid.
I have two samsung tablets on which I want to make this happen. One is Samsung Tab S4 and the other one is Samsung Tab A 10.5.

Whats up XDA,
I joined this forum just to get some serious help. (If this is posted in the wrong area could someone move it...I'm a new guy here.)
I bought my Samsung Galaxy Tab SCH-i800 so that I can mount it within my car dashboard so I can use it for music, navigation, and to be able to use the torque app with my car. My plan is to run tasker so that when the car is on (or when the tablet gets a charge) it automatically turns on and stays on. And then when the car is turned off (or when there is no charge) the screen turns off, and then after an hour of inactivity it automatically turns off. I noticed that to be able to automatically turn on/off the tablet requires to be rooted, and while I am rooting it I figured I'd upgrade it from 2.3 to 4.0 or higher.
Now, I've done my fair share of computing: I'm familiar with torrents, keygens, cracks, I've also accomplished several circuit board repairs for my car stereo, car window switches, and my macbook. But when it comes to software I'm more of an apple person, windows and android frustrate me.
So, back on track...this whole Root thing is driving me completely crazy!! I really don't get it. I've been working on it for like 4 days straight!!!!
I've been looking all over the internet, trying to figure out this stupid heimdall program, looking all over this forum, I've probably clicked over a hundred broken links. Gaaaahhh!!!! I did some research I thought a one click root would be super easy and resolve my frustration....
I tried superoneclick, didn't work.
z4Root: didn't work.
Gingerbreak: didn't work.
So now, after doing more looking around I've been following these two video's which seemed to finally take me somewhere!
1. youtubeDOTcom/watch?v=WPXCTzChhSc
2. youtubeDOTcom/watch?v=xQ3_wth1hSM
After following them (I've been using the download links from video 1, and following the steps in video 2) I'm at the 10:40 mark on video 2 and I go to boot up my tab and nothings changed, and more importantly the touch screen is way the hell off! up is left, down is right, right is up, and left is down! and also it won't power off, it seems like it powers down, it shows the verizon logo and makes the sound, but immediately after that your back at the home screen.
This is insane!!!!!!
This whole root and upgrade process is just killing me!!!!
Is there anyone out there who has rooted their Galaxy Tab SCH-I800 that can walk me through EXACTLY what they did?!
Does anyone know of any alternatives to my problem??? Can I shut down my device without having to root it? When its in the dashboard I can't hit the power button that's why I need this to work.
Hello,
I am working on a research project in which I need this phone to run continuously. However once the phone loses charge, Someone has to press the power button to turn it back on. I need the phone to power on without any human interaction. After looking at other forum posts, I found that I needed to modify the phones system settings. However i do not know which file in the system folder needs to be modified. The only thing that runs when the phone is off is the charging light. What file runs this charging light when the phone is off? or Is there a different file that runs when the phone is off? or Is there another way to make my phone do this? My phone is an HTC Evo 4g, It is also rooted.
Any help is appreciated
Hello,
Rather an unusual problem, i dont intentionally want to go the difficult ADB way, being the novice I am. However I cannot access a usual settings in my current favorite ROM, so I need a way to get to it.
I have been using this ROM on my S4 i9500. I am unable to find an option in the ROM for Day Dream. In other ROMs, when on the daydream setting screen, there is option via the menu button, to choose when the DayDream should work "While Charging" or "While Docked" on while on either of them.
In Ozcan 6.3 ROM we can only choose the daydream to be ON or OFF, the menu button does not work to let us choose the conditions for daydream.
In my case I have a Samsung multimedia dock which I normally use for charging as well. So when I dock the phone , it is recognized as "Docked" hence the daydream is never activated. Otherwise if I simply connect a charger to mobile, the daydream starts after a while.
So I need to know is there a way we can change this settings to be able to daydream also when the phone is DOCKED, it serves me well as being a bed side alarm clock.
I guess there should be a way to change this settings directly via the ROM settings files or via ADB. Only need your guidance and support to know how.
Hope I was able to explain my problem.
Thanks.
Hello everyone.
I was on holiday and over the night my phone went dead without being able to turn it on again.
BUT: i see the battery loading screen when i charge it. so it is like the power button does not work or something similar.
Is it somehow possible to rescue the photos i took?
thank you in advanced for ANY advice.
regards
I havent tested it but found this a video which I can't link to because I'm new....
It says hold the volume up key and plug in usb. Then the phone aks you if you want to go into download mode or restart and turn on.
Has anyone ever tried to set-up the Tab S6 to auto power on when connected to USB charger, without rooting device?
I'm thinking of adding this to my car. I can have the device power down with MacroDroid, but still need to figure how to turn it on when I don't have access to the Power Button.
I did find a video that someone was able to do this back in 2016
https://youtu.be/Zp9G6A6EFlA
But when I boot into recover mode, it can't get the fastboot reboot to detect my Samsung S10+. So I'm afraid it might happen with this too.
