After flashing the latest Havoc OS and finding out the encryption doesn't work, I've been told that no Pie ROM supports it on the device.
I tried two Oreo ROMs and the encryption wouldn't work either.
What's the most up to date / best ROM that does support hardware encryption?

Thanks but updating from the official MIUI ROM via OTA bricked the device, which is the reason I've been using custom ROMs.
It is an option but I would prefer one that is not MIUI-based.

Custom rom doesnt support good encryption. Also Noone cares encryption. Android is already safe enough to use with privacy. Just dont install unknown apps outside store.
LineageOS 7.1.1 (now 7.1.2) supports hardware encryption and is super stable and fast. I've been using it since over a year. There is no official build anymore because the maintainer at LineageOS resigned. But there are unofficial builds provided by "gitsdb" here in the forum.

How to fix phone encryption issue on Redmi note 3 & Pie
hi @RoseTheFlower, the encryption issue on kenzo comes from the latest versions of the recovery and root apps not working properly.
Use TWRP 3.2.3-0 with Magisk 19.2 and you will be able to encrypt your Havoc OS Pie.
Check these two posts for more details on the issue: #3248 and #3256
Good luck!
P.S. You can help by reporting this to the TWRP maintainer for kenzo @TheStrix (his github & email)

for these two points (encryption & up to date) you can try /e/ OS, they officially support kenzo, and have OTA updates. The ROM is a fork of LOS 14.1 (Android 7.1.2 Nougat) so it is very stable, and it supports encryption.

Hi guys!
After numerous requests, i have made a flashable zip package to install Lollipop modem and firmware on your Xiaomi Redmi 2.
IMPORTANT!
Make sure you make backups of Firmware, EFS and Persist before flashing! I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DATA LOSS IF YOU GO FORWARD WITHOUT TAKING PROPER BACKUPS WITH SHA1 VERIFICATION
Not Recommended for Lollipop Custom ROMs /MiUi KK
For Chinese Variants, flash the zip marked China
For Global Variants, flash the zip marked Global
DOWNLOAD!
MODEMS - Google Drive
drive.google.com
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Download the zip package from the link below.
Boot to TWRP/MiRecovery and Flash the suitable zip package.
Reboot! Initial boot may take longer time
F. A. Q
What does this package do?
This package updates your modem and firmware to the latest version without going thru a full MiUi LP flash.
Why should I flash this package?
Lollipop Modem is REQUIRED for VoLTE services. It may / may not help fix Battery drain or Random reboots.
I'm having issues! Help!
Restore your backup and ask help on this thread while mentioning your Baseband version and Phone variant.
Will it brick my device?
No. Slight chance if you're not careful. Make sure you have enough charge.
Is this modem compatible with *** phone?
It is ONLY compatible with Xiaomi Redmi 2 / 2 Prime
How's the cannoli at Marco's Bistro?
Stale as hell!
FOR TESTERS!
Mi Recovery compatibility is not checked yet.
Hit the thanks button if you liked this.

Make sure your ROM developer has pushed VoLTE blobs to the source. VoLTE on marshmallow works on CM,RR,Mokee..
I'd recommend flashing a compatible Nougat build since they're more up to date and have explicit VoLTE support.

I told u I was on miui global when I bought the phone and it was KitKat,can't remember the version.
Never gone to global or developers version except miui by gkalen.
The required recovery can be found on thunder miui thread.
Just be sure that ur recovery and ROM is according to phones model.See the first post.U will get everything. Link

Incorrect most recently updated oreo roms have fixed the data drain. Like Cardinal and Bootleggers. Right now I would suggest using oreo before pie if you want a newer android experience. If you don't care about the visuals just flash cm13 by Gizmos, by far the best rom on kenzo.
Is there any Pie ROM which we can keep its vendor and experiment flashing GSI's.
Thanks
Try the Pixel Experience, I'm not sure it is treble but I think so, I can not tell you certainly because I was the owner of Redmi 5 but for a problem I brought him for assistance.
Nope, not working. I already knew about those ROMs.
Only 8.1 LOS is treble
Just a small request. Can any developer just give us a TREBLE enabled ROM ?
The last one updated is a LOS 15.1 TREBLE ROM.
Which still works with latest GSIs and beats the hell out of all the other "Optimized" ROMs.
Just check the fluidity by yourself.
Can anybody just give as an updated TREBLE ROM or at least an updated vendor img ?

good job.

Hi, I'm assuming you use this kernel in your latest Descendant build? I've been using MIUI for almost a year now and still miss the feel of a close to AOSP build. If I can find the time to reset all of the 2FA accounts I'll for sure give Descendant a try!
