Ok, long story short. It happened after 6months of me daily avoiding the 9.0 update on my sweet Oreo. I have accidentally pressed the INSTAL NOW button. And it happened the blue screen and update process.
It went all through the optimization of apps.
Then this screen popped up

2nd I'm not gonna stay on Android Pie nor flash anything unofficial.
Those are options I have in recorvery.
Also the code you might spot on the bottom of these screens is unknown.

Now the phone is bootlooping
@@@ I forgot to mention that i was using Swift Installer to mod apps and system UI to dark oled. When i pressed update if ****ed up. Logs point at it.
Please tell me what to do. I cant lose my apps data.
Try with full firmware for your CSC and latest Odin. Chose HOME CSC file when selecting files for flash so you can try to keep all your personal file without wiping!

Thank you very much for your reply.
So I'm right to use OREO to do dirty flash as it should work with swift installer mods that could be replaced by Pie update due to mishmash or something.
I'll try after I get a reply from Swift Installer team. As it must be it since no one had a simillar problem.
I have lots of odins form XDA but i guess this is legit sitehttps://odindownload.com/download/
Meanwhile, if it fails, does anybody know the best way to pull all possible apps with full data and cache?
I used this multifile FW (DBT) Germany
https://updato.com/firmware-archive...965F&rpp=15&r=DBT&order=date&dir=desc&exact=1
and this ODIN

1. Extract the firmware file you just downloaded. You should get 5 files:
AP (System &Recovery)
BL (Bootloader)
CP (Modem / Radio)
CSC_*** (Country / Region / Operator)
HOME_CSC_*** (Country / Region / Operator)
2. Add each file to it's respective field in Odin v3.13.3. Use CSC_*** if you want to do a clean flash or HOME_CSC_*** if you want to keep your apps and data.
3. Reboot your phone in Download / Odin mode (make sure your device is off) with the following button combo: POWER + VOLUME DOWN + BIXBY
Other options in case first option did not work or isn't possible.
Option 2 VOLUME DOWN + VOLUME UP than USB cable
Option 3 POWER + VOLUME DOWN + VOLUME UP
Option 4 POWER + VOLUME DOWN + HOME BUTTON
Option 5 (Note9) USB cable + VOLUME DOWN + BIXBY
4. Once in download mode, connect your phone to the PC, preferably using the original USB cable you got with your phone. Odin should detect your device and a BLUE box will show up with the COM port number. (Be sure, the SAMSUNG-drivers are installed on your PC!)
5. Do NOT tick any extra boxes. The only options to be ticked are F.Reset Time and Auto-Reboot.
6. Click the start button, wait for Odin to say 'PASS' in a GREEN box. Once the flash is complete, your phone will reboot, and you can disconnect your phone from the PC.

Flashed as you said but with this oreo https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s9-plus/SM-G965F/XEO/download/G965FXXS2BRK3/248620/
as you haven't linked specific, firmware.
Now he's in a permanent boot loop. Samsung logo is blinking for a few minutes, then it says that he optimizing 115 apps (1st one was longer) after its done its starts all over again. Nearly hour has passed.
I cannot enter stock recovery, he doesn't respond at all. Download mode is working ... but all I can do now is leave him till the battery dies and burn my pixels entirely in Samsung logo place.
I also tried all recovery programs that pull apps and data but none works for sgs9
After 5h battery finally died. If you have any ideas ill be waiting
Try to flash the last Pie firmware for your device? You can use [Tool] Frija - Samsung firmware downloader/checker instead of SamMobile because it's much faster. Also, I will recommend doing full wipe or just to use the CSC the will wipe everything.
I think this happened because you didn't uninstall on the first places the mods you had - Swift Installer in your case, but the same applies to Substratum. Swift Team also recommends to delete, there is even adb script, every layer that you have installed, before doing OTA update, because may bootloop your device or in your case even brick it.

Its exactly what you said. The Swift Mods have interrupted the Pie update.
I tried with oreo but now I'll try the Pie ... i can't think of deleting all my data :crying:
Not sure if you can restore from google account some information or Samsung cloud.
I have the same exact problem and I had hope to solve it. But neither flashing Oreo or Pie helps. It bootloops.
I want to access data stored in Android/data or just backup apps. Did I tick something wrong or should i flash custom recovery.
i have the same problem
I think there is no data keeping and retrieving of those back in your case!
Full clean flash should work, sorry for this answer!

Hello Ace users.
Just figured I would post this in case anyone else out there was thinking about the 2.3.6 update for Nordic counties. I just spent the morning Flashing it VIA Odin, because I never made a Factory back-up before flashing CM7 some time ago, and I am quite happy with it.
Okay, here's the procedure on how to manually upgrade the Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 to Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread using the stock ROM S5830XXKPP in 11 simple steps. So you know Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread is not yet available for all Galaxy Ace users, except in Russia. Don’t be scared when the phone boots in Russian, you can change that in the locale and text option under settings.
Here’s what you need:
Download the stock ROM S5830XXKPP, I got mine from SamMobile.com. You have to create a free account and navigate a few confusing pages but it can be found. You’ll find it at the bottom of the ROM list for the Ace; it’s the one for Nordic countries.
Grab the ODIN Multi Downloader v4.38 and OPS File: Cooper_v1.0.ops
To Flash with Odin:
- For Windows PC’s with USB driver / Kies installed.
- A USB cable for your phone
- Make a back-up copy of all important files stored on your phone, you are going to lose everything otherwise
Ready to start?
1. Download the S5830XXKPP ROM and extract it to your desktop. The password is “samfirmware.com”. When extracted you’ll see: “S5830XXKPP_S5830XXKPP_S5830SERKPP_HOME.tar.md5” this is what you need.
2. Extract and run Odin v4.38 on your desktop.
3. On ODIN click the OPS button and select the Cooper_v1.0.ops file on it.
4. Hit the One package checkbox option
5. Select and load the S5830XXKPP_S5830XXKPP_S5830SERKPP_HOME.tar.md5 in the One package field
6. Set the Samsung Galaxy Ace in Download Mode:
Turn the OFF the phone then press Volume Down+Power+ Middle buttons simultaneously and the phone will then reboot into download mode. Press the volume up button to begin download mode.
7. Connect the phone to PC and you’ll see on ODIN a window with “COM Port” turn to yellow. It means connected and ready.
8. Begin the flashing by hitting the 'Start' button.
9. It will take 5 minutes to complete and the word "PASS" will display once it finishes.
10. Unplug the phone from the PC, and go into Recovery Mode by pressing Home + Power Button, then select Wipe Data / Factory Reset. Reboot Phone.
11. Last, change the default Russian language to your Region by going to settings and then locate the locale and text icon, then pick your native language.

I just know there was a couple of Noobs around wanting to go back to Samsung Firmware but no idea how... This is for them, not the 95% who already know how.
When I read the topic subject, I thinked that a new special method is needed for flashing the S5830XXKPP ROM.
I think 95% of galaxy.ace.xda.users have already known this, thanks

My Ace II dead after stock upgrade
I can't startup again my Ace II when I updated to latest stock firmware downloaded from Samfirmware.com, it is from BTU region: I8160XXLK5_I8160BTULK5_BTU.zip.
What do you think I could do? It doesn't start nor pressing ON/OFF nor any other normal boot procedures. I removed battery, wait some minutes, nothing happens
Any suggestion?

So since I found this thread I'm going to ask here, is there any difference in the regions of all these firmwares? I mean...a difference between the German firmware and the Russia firmwares are what? The language? The carrier the firmware can support? and Lastly, what if I (who lives in Greece) install a The last German or Russian or whichever firmware?

I don't know exactly but I have galaxy ace installed European firmware and was in bootloop but flashing a custom rom on that European build worked.
Then I can see European baseband amd firmware version in About Phone.
/system is identical on all ROMs within the same build (LK6, LL2, etc.)
the difference is in CSC file which contains some additional apps and country specific settings but those are not mandatory to apply.
i've never seen different kernel between countries in the same build, all files (kernel, modem, power_management, system) are the same and the hidden file contains only 'The art of Flight' movie.
That's just my 'experience', so maybe someone has other thoughts on this topic..

If you get no warnings, much better. Let's proceed.
The Preparation : Before you start, make sure that . . .1) You have a PC / Laptop running Windows Platform
2) Samsung USB Driver for Mobile Phones (click to DL from clockworkmod.com) is installed
3) Phone battery power is at least 70%. That's good enough to not run out of power during this whole process.
4) Its USB Debugging is enabled (Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging)
5) You have a USB Cable to establish a connection between the phone & your computer
6) You have the files needed. Keep three files in one folder.
- twrp_2.8_material - 9185 KB (click to DL directly from its dev's (Gody) MediaFire drive)
- Odin3-v3.09.zip - 972 KB (click to DL from sammobile.com's MEGA shared cloud storage) This software runs only on Windows platform.
- SuperSU_v1.94.zip - 1,703 KB (click to DL direclty from chainfire website)7) A copy of that flashable zip file "SuperSU" must be saved in your phone's memory, internal or external .
1st Step : Flashing TWRP Recovery Via OdinWhat is Recovery? | The Two Android Recovery Agents (CWM & TWRP)
Here, we will use TWRP Recovery. We will install it on the device using the Odin software.
Required: your phone, Windows PC, USB cable, Odin, and TWRP (.tar file)
1) Boot phone to "Odin Mode, a.k.a. Download Mode" by pressing the buttons at the same time: Volume Down, Power, & Home. When the device vibrates, immediately release the Power button while still pressing the other two until the Download Mode's warning screen appears.

2) Press the "Volume Up" button to continue to Odin Mode
3) In your computer, using WinRar or 7-zip, extract the Odin zip file, then run Odin3 v3.09.exe as Administrator
4) Connect your phone to your PC via USB. It should say "Added" on Odin.
5) On Odin, click the "AP" button, find and select the "twrp_2.8_material.tar"
6) Click "Start" to proceed in flashing the TWRP Recovery. *This takes about a minute.
7) It's partially finished when it says RESET! with these three lines in the message box.
RQT_CLOSE !!
RES OK !!
Removed!!
Then, phone will reboot automatically to OS.
8) Sometimes it takes a few more seconds after the phone has rebooted for you to be able to completely close Odin. Just wait for Odin to change its status from RESET! to PASS! and say All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0), as shown in the picture below.
Then, you may click Exit and disconnect cable.
TWRP 2.8.5.0 Recovery is now installed.
And this is how to boot to "Recovery Mode". Press the buttons at the same time: Volume Up, Power, & Home. When the device vibrates, immediately release the Power button while still pressing the other two until the SAMSUNG boot-screen appears. See photo instructions below.
By the way, see the pictures below for the difference between the Galaxy Win's stock recovery and TWRP's recovery.
Important : NANDroid Backup
At this point, with TWRP Recovery installed, you can now create a NANDroid backup. It's a backup of literally everything in your phone - System, Cache, Data, EFS, and Boot. It is considered to be the top priority of things to do before messing with your phone i.e. flashing ROMs, kernels, or apps. After you create a backup, the backup file would be located in "sdcard0/TWRP/BACKUPS/" for internally saved backup, and "extSdCard/TWRP/BACKUPS/" if it's saved to the external memory. This file can also be transferred to a different storage, say a hard-disk, if you need to have more space on your phone for something else. You may skip to the actual rooting part. But, in case you do want to create a backup just follow the simple steps below. 1) Boot phone to Recovery Mode
2) Select Backup
3) This part lets you name the backup file with whatever name you want, choose whether to save it internally or externally, and pick which stuff you'd like to backup. And when you're ready, swipe to backup.
*This may take 5-10 minutes depending on how big your whole current installation is.
4) Once done, you may proceed with the 2nd part of this rooting guide.
2nd & Final Step: Flashing SuperSUSuperSU allows for advanced management of Superuser access rights for all the apps on your device that need root.
Required: your phone, and SuperSU (.zip file)
1) Boot phone to Recovery Mode
2) Select Install
2) Locate the zip file SuperSU
3) Go ahead and swipe to install SuperSU *This takes just 5-10 seconds.
4) Reboot System
You now have root access. Good luck!

Hey mate, thanks a lot! Your guide is very clean and objective. Links shown properly. You did a good job!
But I'm still facing a problem on my I-8552B. Whichever Recovery I try to flash, I keep getting a black screen.
I tried the one you posted and the 6.0.3.7 version, but nothing different. :/
Thanks! I'm as glad that this guide is helpful to us who need it.
When does this black screen appear?
What have you done so far?
Sent from my GT-I8552
The phone is working properly, I can boot into the system normally. But after I flash any custom recovery via Odin (all I tried, so far), and boot into recovery (phone off, VOL +, Home and PWR boot), I get a black screen.
I've read that people are getting this issue on devices bought after July/14...
Please refer to this thread for more ideas.

Special Notes:
1. DON'T FORGET TO ENABLE "OEM UNLOCK" (located in Developers options).
2. KNOX will be tripped once you flashed custom binaries to your phone.
(Your warranty may be voided. However this may not affect you if your country forces Samsung to provide hardware warranty regardless of software status.)
3. Samsung Firmware OTA (aka System Updates) will no longer work once you flashed custom binaries.

Sep. 16:
Initial Release
Guides:
Notice: It may wipe all your data including those in internal storage.
Part 1 - HOW-TO FLASH TWRP:
1. In your ROM, go to Settings -> About device. Tap 7 times on Build number to enable Developer options.
2. Go to Settings -> Developer options and enable OEM Unlock option.
3. Download and Install Samsung Mobile Phones Drivers.
- Option 1: Download and Install Smart Switch for PC.
- Option 2: Download and Install standalone driver package.
4. Download and extract Odin (Samsung's Flash Tool) to your computer.
5. Download a .tar image of TWRP.
6. Reboot your device to download mode.
- Hold [VOLUME DOWN] + [BIXBY] + [POWER] for approx. 15 seconds.
- Read the warning carefully.
- If you agree, press [VOLUME UP] to get into Download mode. If you don't agree, STOP.
7. Open Odin and place that TWRP tar file in the [AP] slot.
8. Connect your phone.
9. Hold [VOLUME UP] + [BIXBY] + [POWER] on your phone and then press start on Odin.
10. Wait for the phone to reboot. DO NOT release [VOLUME UP] + [BIXBY] + [POWER] or you may not reboot into TWRP.
Part 2 - HOW-TO INITIALIZE TWRP: (for new phones)
1. If you completed Part 1 successfully, you should be in TWRP now. At this point, you will reach the screen asking you if you want to allow system modifications.
2. Select "Keep /system RO". (Don't swipe right or you may not be able to boot into system if you failed to complete next steps. However, you can swipe right to allow modifications if you are confident that you can complete next steps.)
3. Go to "Wipe" menu of TWRP and you will find "Format Data". Press "Format Data" and type "yes" to continue.
4. Go to "Reboot" menu and Press "Recovery" to reboot TWRP.
5. Download the latest dm-verity and force encryption disabler zip on your computer.
6. Transfer the zip to your phone.
- Option 1: MTP: Connect your phone with computer and just copy the zip to internal storage. (similar to how you transfer files when in system.) (for the moment not working)
- Option 2: ADB: Connect your phone with computer and run command "adb push /path/to/zip /sdcard/". (for the moment not working)
- Option 3: External SD: Copy the zip to an external SD and then insert the card to your phone.
7. Go to "Install" menu of TWRP and flash the zip.
TWRP is initialized and fully functional at this stage. Now you can either reboot into system or root, flash custom ROMs via TWRP.
Part 3 - HOW-TO ROOT:
1. Download the flashable zip.
- Option 1: Magisk
- Option 2: SuperSU (untested)
2. Transfer the zip to your phone.
3. Go to "Install" menu of TWRP and flash the zip.
Part 3a - HOW-TO FLASH CUSTOM ROMS:
1. Download the flashable zip.
2. Transfer the zip to your phone.
3. Go to "Install" menu of TWRP and flash the zip.
Simple.
Omg I'm gonna die happy lol. Let me go and root now.

Good work keep it up
This is great. Many thanks
Great job and many thanks for your efforts!
Do I get this right?
When I'm in download mode, I have to hold the 3 buttons again and press start in odin ?
Doesn't that interrupt the flash process ?

There's no guarantee a software update will ever unlock your bootloader if the OEM Unlock option is not available for you. I would suggest selling it and buying a new one that does have the option. If you really want to root or install custom ROMs, why take the risk when you spent $1000 on this phone for a specific purpose?
If you just bought your phone, it must still be brand new and in pristine condition. You should sell it for almost full price. The demand is really high right now so you'll have no problems selling it fast.

can be your carrier blocked the oem unlock. download a debranded firmware like the one with AUT or DBT csc and flash it with odin and look if you have then the menu. But flash it only when you have a N950F or a N950F/DS
Has anyone tested Android Pay after doing this?

Not starts in Download
I m not able to enter Download mode on note9. It is continuously restarting.
When phones is off, i m holding Volume -, Bixby and Power. Phone vibrates once, turns on, but after 4-5 second, again vibrates and shows starting logo, and it continously repeating until i hold all three buttons. If i release power it boots in safe mode..
What i m doing wrong ?
If I press Vol +, bixby + power it successfully goes to recovery..
Is any other way to flash this package, may through adb in recovery mode ?

Also tested on N960F and can confirm that it works. Back up created and reboot to system worked flawlessly. No zips to flash as yet but works fine for me.

It's a root package like supersu, if you want to root your phone you need to flash magisk zip, it's not in the first post because this thread is about twrp and not a how to root
i am not able to do it. with phone off, pressing bixby + vol down does nothing no matter how long i press.
with bixby + vol up + power, phone enters stock recovery but odin 3.13.1 says "removed"
i have sm 960F and i rooted previously with dr Ketan method.
what is wrong?
