I'm very curious about the Yota 3+, the international edition of Yota 3 with the Google Play support and mirroring function.
Could any current Yota 3+ owner share their experience, please? Like how is App2Back (mirroring function)? Is there any contrast setting for the eink display?
P.S. if any current Yota 3+ owner could upload the firmware it would be even greater!

Hi, i just got the yota3+ from hongkong local store arround 2weeks, i'm mate9 & boox t76 user, this 2week review, 1, battery average, 2, google no problem, 3, no nfc/ir , 4, eink screen performance good, just abit small, no backlight, build in app2back fuction not bad, screen can only work on vertical. Screen for book reading very good, not good for comic. 5, system run on android 8.1 (yetios), abit stupid system but acceptable. I usually shutdown the phone at night, no crash or die in daily use. 6, lack of accessories, can't find any 3rd parties stuff, i need to go local store custom made screen protector. But the offical cover case is a handy case, very good for this phone.
7. Hisense have a A6 launched, may switch once this phone dead.

Hisense A6 cannot support Google service. Google users are disappointed to use any mobiles without Google service, like Yota 3. Even though we can install Google service in it, running Google apps may be collapsed sometimes. Wishing the firmware from you may help us.
epd_optimizer
I have bought YOTA3+.
epd_optimizer is working on YOTA3+.
very good!
it sue
Hisense A2 Pro is very bad.
Camera is extremely low res.
The e-Ink screen isn't like Yotaphone's it is covered in glass... all glossy. Not like an e-reader at all.

Can you please tell me if Yota 3+ native phone application supports recording of voice phone calls? I have this available with Hisense A2 Pro (most Chinese made phones do have this). Want to know if Yota 3+ has it. Recorder is available by pushing a recording button during or before the phone call. Of course there are 3rd party android apps but the 3rd party apps add another layer of interaction, I prefer to have the ability to record a phone conversation natively in the "stock" Phone App. (Yes I know legal implications of recording

there is no native apps to record voice phone. there is a very basic phone app and a very simple recorder( it can't work in the background). you need to add some 3rd party apps.
Yota 3+ experiences
Hi,
I have the yota 3+ with YetiOS 8.1.0 (13.11.2018) for about 2 weeks now
and that is my experience so far:
2 main issues :
- whatsapp web with the Yota3+ isn't working, as the Yotaphone scan application inside whatsapp istn't able to scan
the QR-code on the computer screen, as the scanner is not working properly.
- if you select "power button will not lock/unlock" in the security settings, but the EPD-screen will lock up/freeze soon after that, and can't be unlocked then.
pros :
- Phone performance is OK, running stable without crashing.
- Battery life time is also OK
- GSM reception, GPS reception, phone call quality and overall volume / loudspeaker are Okay.
- Mirroring apps on the EPD-screen works well.
- 3rd party Widgets are running on the EPD.
- no bloatware installed
cons:
- Camera is below expectations, I didn't expect super high quality, but the picture quality is disappointing even in mid range expectations.
- No landscape mode on the EPD (only portrait) , hopefully this will be fixed on a future firmware-update.
- Compared to the predecessor Yota2 no NFC and no QI-Charging anymore.
Over all, coming from the (meanwhile outdated) Yotaphone2 , I am a bit disappointed of the Yota3+,
aside Octacore speed, slightly improved battery performance and display it hasn't much more to offer.
What are your thoughts ?
Greetings
Dirk
Hello,
- WhatsApp Web - scan QR code still does not work. So I can't add desktop pc to whatsapp.
- EPD screen
* weater widget - sometime it's not updated - "no internet connection" when I am running only on 4G Data. Need to be connected to internet with WiFi.
* time widget - sometime it's not updated - restart phone solve this problem
* exist any SMS notification widget for EPD like in YotaPhone 2, where when SMS come, it's shown for 10 seconds on EPD and then it's hidden?
* any widgets for quic info about email, sms, missed calls, and so on...?
My WhatsApp Web is working. I had problems with the phone too and it crashed yesterday. I recognized too late that the recovery wasn´t correctly working, so i had to flash the phone again. Since now, everything is working perfectly.

Interesting!
may I ask, what Version you have running , 8.1.0 kernel 3.18.71 Build Y3XSCN1805161 from Tue Nov. 13th ?
You said, you flashed it ? With a new version or did you just reset it to factory settings ?
As also Mr. Tubar above has written, scanning whatsapp web doesn't work for mine either, it looks like this :

Sometimes, my weather and time widget also is divergent from the real time,
please see the real time in the menu bar on top of the screen :
In addition the weather widget is set up to update every 30 minutes, but it stays unchanged for hours...

I am using the Yota2 widget from Alex Archen, called "YoMessage", you probably still know it from Yotaphone2.
It is working on yota3+, showing incoming WhatsApp & SMS ae-mails and whatever you configure it.
However, changing back from popping up message to normal EPD-Screen isn't always working properly,
sometimes the display remains in a almost completely faded message instead of going back to idle screen.
So it is not perfect, but it works.
I am hoping for a new firmware update to get rid off some of the bugs.
Greetings
Dirk
sorry, i made an update recently, so i don´t know my kernel version. As my Phone crashed, i had already the newest version of the updates. It worked with whatsapp right after i flashed it with the 9008, without any update. I willt try it with the newest update.
I flashed it again with the instructions in the forum, from Yota 3 to Yota 3+. I recognized, that i didn´t had a correct working recovery after the first try of flashing to yota 3+.

Whatsapp Web
So, i have some answers.
After i flashed the Yota 3 to the Yota 3+, everything was working well, including Whatsapp Web.
After the first Update, the small one with 16MB, i lost the ability of booting into the stock recovery, everything else worked fine.
After the next Update, the big one with 1,4GB, i still lost the stock recovery an Whatsapp Web didn´t work.
I think, i flash my phone back to get all functions back. Especially because the last time of the heavy phone crash i had the newest update also.
Thank you Sodasistso, your answer cleared it up.
So the newest firmware is just buggy.
And congratulations that you were successful to flash your yota3 to plus ,
I wasn't aware of that before I read the other thread about it.

After flashing from Yota3 to Yota3+ scanner works fine, and it's true, that after big second update Yota3+ scanner stop working.
Scaner on other phone apps works fine, I think problem it's only in whatsapp which use his internal scan tools maybe.
I have found temporaly solution for that - add windows whatsapp app to whatsapp.
I turn on in Windows 10 Zoom for 200%-400%, then I start Whatsapp app on Windows 10, and that qr code in this app aj zoom to whole monitor.
After that I try run scanner in Yota3+ whatsapp and try scan it. After 4-5 try, I do that I scan it from 50cm from monitor.

THANK YOU ! :good:
that did the trick! I did not expect the scanner would scan anything at all in this mood,
but when zooming the QR-code to the max screen size and reducing brightness of the backlit notebook display,
the whatsapp was able to read it when placing the QR-code in the white area of the scanning area. :fingers-crossed:
