Is there a way to get notifications to pop-up when the always on display is active?
You get the icon above the clock. Are you wanting a whole heads up notification or something? The screen to turn on? I don't think there is an option for something like that. At least I haven't seen one.

Yes - I would prefer a pop-up notification for text messages, emails. Was hoping there was a setting I was missing to be able to allow this.
Thanks.

It only shows an icon. I wish it showed the actual message Like Pixel does. but it does not. If your main concern is text messages you can download something like Textra which has an option to wake up the phone when I message arrives. Then you will see the message.

Is there somewhere an app that will also show pop-up messages? Using the Outlook app for example...I find it totally worthless that I get a notification sound but absolutely no popup. I don't want to have to pull the notification center down, I just want a pop up showing the message that I just received.
On that note, I *HATE* how the lock screen INSISTS on combining notifications from an app. If I get 10 emails, I want to see 10 separate notification entries, damn it.
Using Android....is, well, annoying. I shouldn't have to download apps just to make everything work. No wonder my wife rejected the V30 and went back to iOS.

Believe it or not Android is getting better and better with how notifications are handled and how they can be custom tailored per each app. The usage of the notification center is that way for a reason for quick and easy access to your notifications without completely interrupting the user. The cool thing is that there are other apps that you can use in order to adjust the phone to perform how you want it. Android is all about customization. You can have it the way it comes from the manufacturer or you can add apps to customize your experience. For this reason it may take an Android user longer to initially set up a phone vs a iUser.
Good luck.

Is anyone able to expand the notifications on the lock screen and take actions like quick reply or delete an e-mail??
Since EMUI 8 a lot of users are unable to expand the notifications from the lockscreen which is really annoying.
I hope Huawei fixed that for the Mate 20 pro...
For me it's a crucial feature to have.
I just read that the AOD won't show 3rd party app notifications??? What's wrong with Huawei!
Expandable LS Notifications and AOD Notifications are must haves for every Android phone!!
EMUI destroys this beautiful smartphone
Maybe time to flood their twitter and fb with this, the more we push on it... They might listen
I don't understand why they are doing this?! It takes big advantages of lockscreen and aod.
The mate 20 pro is such a great phone and they ruin it with this software...
Guys,
100%. If you like the phone but something ig stopping you from purchasing, INFORM HUAEWEI. If sometihng is wrong or a key feature isn't working as expected, TELL HUAWEI...
You should absolutely inundate them with enquiries via Twitter, email, Facebook and their website about this sort of thing. Why? Because it will be worth it in the end. There's at least a CHANCE they'll make the change with a software update.

Deleting an E-Mail works now (at least with Gmail on 122). I can push the little downwards arrow and the notification expands on the lock screen.
I find this incredibly annoying. What is the point of even having these notifications if you can't expand them to see what they are for!?

You can interact with lockscreen notifications. If you click on the arrow in the notification itself, you’ll then see options to interact with the notification. It’s a rather simple implementation, but you have to first click the arrow to then expand it.

Doesn't work for me. Click the down arrow and it invites me to click it again, this brings up the face unlock screen rather than any further detail from the notification?

exactly the same on 122. Down arrow does nothing. Can't expand any notificiations, tried gmail, whatsapp, twitter. What a load of nonsense.

Not sure why you’re experiencing this issue. I can interact with notifications with no issues. A simple double tap on the arrow and I can reply, delete, etc. No issues whatsoever.
Lock screen notifications are kept private until the phone recognizes your registered face... It's a privacy feature...

Something to add from myself, expanding works on 122 firmware. But, for Whatsapp and Messenger when you unlock the screen, expand the notification, the messege text disappears (like on screenshot). Anybody encountered such bug?
I'm having the same issue with the blank notifications (looks like the font is white but not sure)
Guys,
For those out there who have this phone or are still testing. Can you:
Set different ringtones by contact (I can see you can only set 1 ringtone by SIM card in settings)?
Can you assign different notifications per app? Eg: a different sound to SMS receive compared to email received -- Can you set notification sounds in the native app itself while disabling the normal Huawei system notification otherwise?
LED notification PULSE light. Any one take a video of it displaying in the dark?
Can you set different LED colours by different notifications using a 3rd party app like LIGHTFLOW? Not sure if it has Pie support yet...
The fact that there's a 99% likelihood this phone cannot be unlocked to customise as I see fit is a big turnoff, meaning a lot of useful apps I have to go without...making Huawei stand up and tick more boxes is now extremely important
Any help is appreciated

Based from my limited reading, the OS itself is preventing this. I am a big fan of customized ringtones and notifications too. I'd know when it's my wife calling or when it's work or something else. I'm not closing my doors on this. I hope we'll get a solution real soon.
If you use Google contacts, click on the contact go to the 3 dots on the top right in the menu there is set ringtone
Google messages, settings, notifications, sounds
If you go to settings, apps, notifications, sounds you can set different tones for almost any app
weird, I don't see any "notifications" under apps as you've said

Even without Google contacts you can set tones for different people in the stock dialer contacts app, go to edit the contact and at the bottom there is a tab saying "more fields" and it will allow you to set custom ringtone. If you go to settings then apps and click the app you want to customize and at the very top it'll say 'notification management" click on that and then click on sound, and then you can pick a sound.

When you go into each app settings there is a notification option, sometimes it is under miscellaneous or more options.

I use Light Manager 2 from Google Play. Works pretty well for me with customisable colours of the LED.

In the stock contact app if you click on the contact person and edit, then go to more fields at the bottom there's a ringtone option there.

awesome, cheers for that. Shame it only lets you select from the start of the song. Coming from Samsung, it would give you that option as well as suggesting the "best" part of the track for a ring tone. which always worked really well. Do you know if there's anything like that in the software or even a 3rd party app that can do it?
Hey all, I couldn't get the ring notifications working with the app on S10, but I have found a solution. The app is called "Always on AMOLED" and there is a setting to have a blinking light when a notification comes. No added screen, only downside is its only one color. Anyway, thought id share! It would be neat if there was an app that could have multiple different colored flashing dots when the screen is off, so for example, you get a text and fb message, 2 different colored dots on the screen.
Any feedback on how to set this up correctly? I couldnt get mine to work and it kept showing an AOD display with the clock on it.
Hello!
Go into "Customize Watchface", then "Clock Style" and choose the "Hidden" option
It just doesn't do it for me. I'm stickying to stock AOD.
Better Than Blinking Light For Notifications

I use aodNotify (Jawomo) and it works great. You can have different options for locked and unlocked as well as customize which apps get notification and change colors for each app. I tried it out when I got my phone and then donated the pittance for the pro version (buy me a coffee). It's now listed in the play store as Notification Light / LED Note10, S10 - aodNotify. :good:

Yeah I'm gonna second this one. Great product.
Problem, no notification icons are displayed on the AOD although everything is activated in the AoD settings. Otherwise the notification with sound and vibration will be displayed on the lock screen. Anyone an idea?

for CN rom, only oppo approved apps get to appear on AOD.. this translates to mainly oppo's own apps and a few popular china govt approved apps like qq and wechat.. its likely hard coded into the AOD..

Oh, that makes sense, because I am using Oppo Messages, and Google Phone and Gmail.
Yes, Oppo Apps, Phone and SMS are present in AoD .
OK, i can survive with this option.
Thanks for information!
With the App "Allways on Amoled" from PlayStore you geht all App Notifications.
The app eats the battery, better not install it
