Good evening everyone. I have a question i hope someone can help me with. As sad as it is at my age that i play a game on my phone it passes the time. Within the game (Sniper 3d assassin) you give yourself a name anything you like BUT you only get 20 charactors. Somehow when the keypad pops up to type your chosen name in its somehow overides the keypad to stop more than 20 characters. Alot of people use html codes to colour there name but this takes up 8 characters per colour so doesnt leave much room for a name. Some people though have managed to add in some cases 4 different colours to there name. You cant copy and past a coloured letter in it just turns to normal text colour. Ive exhausted all the ways of trying to add shorter codes without success so ive come to the conclusion they have somehow managed to override what ever it is that stopes you adding more than 20 charactors. My question finally. IS there a way to overide the game from altering the keypad imput limit so i can add as many codes as i want. I have a samsung s9. I hope this makes sense. Thank you in advance for your time with my little problem. Jack

Greetings all:
I have just rec'd an 8525, unlocked and cutom ROM'd.
I am interested in the following: is there a cab file or change I can make in order to make the touchscreen phone dial numbers bigger. I have rather large fingers and dialing with the screen is somewhat difficult. I had read that the Tmo MDA had a hack for the UI making this poss., but I am clueless how to do this if at all poss. for this phone.
Could anyone lend any assistance with this req. as it is one of the only things I am currently not liking about the device. Changing this would take away some operating stress. My thanks in advance for any directions.
Cheers
do a search for dialer skins, or dial pads, and you are going to find some with large numbers on it..
Ah, my thanks, I did as you suggested and I found exactly what I questioned about.
Cheers
u could always do some finger excerises with the lady friend as your assistant if u wanna turn those sausage fingers into trim fingers... lol sorry i had to
ROFLMAO
Forgot to ask., what skin is the biggest dialing screen going? Certainly want to maximize my landscape so I dont have to install 40 of them.... well you get the idea.
Would anyone mind pointing me in the right direction, or link to the largest dialing screen out there.
My thanks in advance.
Alternatively rather than looking for skins why don't you give Smart Dialer 2 a try. You can find a free trial version at www.pocketpc.myluckypda.com.
This program apart from giving you large buttons for dialing also supports smartdialing, sending SMS to any of your contacts directly from the dialer and what I liked most the possibility to add new contacts directly from the dialer.
The downside is that it increases your booting time by 8 seconds and consumes about 1.3 MB of RAM.
Another very good large button dialer is Imaginet Fingerclix. This does not consume any RAM as it does not stay resident all the time and is only called up when you require it. The downside is that it may be a bit sluggish for your taste.
Regards
Got, it I will look at both of these. Much appreciated.
Hello,
I AM new to xda developers, i have allready searched what i was looking for without any luck.
I was looking for a customized locking system, and i don't mean changing the theme or wallpaper on your locking screen, but an alternative way to unlock your phone every time you turn your screen back on.
it used to be with a 4 digit code, then they changed it to a pattern, then to a lock that u drag to an outer circle which then unlocks the phone.
the thing is, i find the 2 last ones rediculous, anyone can open the last one, and the pattern...well, u look at it once and u know it aswel.
but then again, if u have to input a 4 digits code every time you start your phone, well that is also irritating.
I have never programmed for android, though i have programmed in my days as a programmer, my question is... if i get into it... will i be able to create my own locking system? or are they all predefined?
for example, something rly random: on the lock-screen, the front-side camera turns on and unlock the phone when it detects a smiling face.
+ giving u the ability to input a 4 digit code if you're not in the mood to smile at your phone.
any insight would be helpful!
Hello.
I apologize in advance if this is not the right forum to post in, or if it's not the right site at all, but a friend whose specialty is Android led me here, and told me to post my problems here.
I am a long-time iOS user. But I am also disabled : I have 1/20th vision on my left eye and nothing on the right one. My eyes are easily blinded by light, and as such I find it painful to read text on a screen when it's black on a white background. In Windows, for instance, I change the Windows theme back to Classic Windows so I can edit the different colors that make windows, buttons, and menus so they are easier on my eyes. In OSX, I use the 'Invert Video' feature on a shortcut key, so that when I press it, the screen suddenly inverts all colors, makign it much easier on my eyes. (Sadly, it also inverts colors on pictures, but that's okay, I can live with switching back and forth if needed.) On Chrome (any OS), I use the Stylish extension to force every site's CSS to follow my own and keep backgrounds dark and text light... You get the idea. On iOS, a similar feature to the one in OSX exists, and you have to press the home button three times to switch it on or off.
If I'm posting on this forum, this is because I have questions regarding Android's features for disabled people like me.
From my understanding, and from what I briefly tried on my sister's Acer E330 (Android 4.0.4) there is no such feature. A friend with a Nexus 4 confirmed this too.
I was wondering if there was some kind of plugin, addon, extension, app or whatever that would allow me to redefine Android's interface (a theme perhaps?) or even better, some kind of 'Invert Video' feature just like on iOS. I'm asking about this because I'm considering buying a Android device since I realized I was starting to have problems with some displays used on recent iPhones, iPads, Macbooks or even on regular PC laptops like MSIs' or Samsungs'.
The problem I have has been unresolved so far as there is no way to tell what part/setting of recet LCD/LED displays make my eyes sore after about 5 minutes of use. I did a lot of research without being able to find out what caused this exactly, but a lot of people seem to have the same kind of problem while having a normal eyesight unlike I do.
So, right now, two things prevent me from being sure if I should buy a Android phone or not :
- I need to make sure the display is fine with my eyes.
- And the reason why I'm posting this here, is that I want to know if it's possible to have the same kind of feature on iOS/OSX for changing colors of the whole screen by the press of a physical button on the device several times (this seems like the best solution, as a system setting switch would be a bit painful to use. FYI I really overuse and abuse this feature because it allows me to quickly switch to a dark background on white pages, while restoring the normal colors if the next page I'm visiting has a black background.)
So there it is, again, I apologize if that wasn't the right forum or anything. I hope someone here can help me with this problem. I'm not a die-hard Apple fanboy : I just happen to use their devices because they are the simplest to work with considering my disability.
Thanks in advance.
so i love google now. its awesome and usually works pretty great. only thing is i cant stand how long it takes to complete a function after you tell it to..
for example: my wifes name is angie. so if i say "call angie" i have to wait like 10 seconds for that blue line to go across the screen, and then it calls her..
so if i can modify it to make the blue line only like 2 or 3 seconds that would be perfect!
it doesnt seem like a big deal but i get impatient when im just trying to call her real quick (or do another function real quick)
so does anyone know of a mod to change this?

Click to collapse
I realize the purpose of voice actions is to avoid having to touch and mess with the screen, but what I do in these instances is touch the actual action while that blue line goes across to bypass the wait. Such as if I need it to navigate quickly.
I don't know how to actually shorten the time though - I actually like that it is as long as it is, as whenever there is a problem, it gives me time to cancel, but I see the time being an issue too.

The app is setedit and you'll need to hand over almost $3 Canadian if you want these tweaks. 1 of them will work for sure without needing to enforce but I think it's a sweet deal and 3 of these are working on Pie. 2 of them, or even 1 is worth the price.
You'll need to go into a shell and enter exactly:
pm grant by4a.setedit22 android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Copy and paste it. If you don't know how to do that just look up ADB, android developer options, and Samsung USB drivers.
First the freebie. Go into Secure Table and click +add new setting (your first entry may ask you to grant a permission. DO IT)! enter: clock_seconds value: 1 BOOM! Hope you like it because it'll NEVER go away! Just kidding. If you factory reset... or simply enter a value of 0 you'll be rid of the ticker.
Next up I think is a freebie, too. Still in Secure Table, scroll down to sysui_qs_tiles delete everything. NO DON'T! Carefully, without erasing the entire list, add in MobileData exactly like that. So actually it'll be a comma first. Have a look around for other tiles because 'ol Sammy likes to keep things real tight with the carriers. You can also remove some but I think it's best to not potentially freezing your phone up.
Now, pretty sure these ones will need the guardian to stick so if you can manage 3 bucks it'll be worth it, especially the last 2!
Change tile rows and columns.
Right above the tile edit in Secure Table is sysui_qqs_count I like a value of 7. Don't go too small or too high. Or do it and see what happens. Please don't. I can only vouch for 7 and 8. I have heard of 3 but never tried it. This changes the first row, first pull on notification menu.
Now to change the rows, the long pull I guess you can call it, qs_tile_row in Secure Table still. I do 4. I heard if you enter in 50 you get a widescreen TV. No idea. I only tried 4.
Screen Timeout not long enough?
While some of you may not need it, I need more than 10 minutes. Head to System Table and... not sure why, but I think this needs both screen_off_timeout_rollback AND screen_off_timeout to work. I set mine to 1800000 (yes 5 zeroes) to get 30 minutes. Do it on both. Double that, 3600000 will give you an hour. So if you want 13 minutes and 27 seconds, figure it out. I think entering a value of 1 will get you a free trip to the ODIN app. Don't know what that is? You'll find out pretty quick if you screw this one up. Of course you're gonna head to the menu and look to see a new entry of 18 minutes and 55 seconds. Not happening. What you will see is that no selection is made. DON'T TOUCH IT! Just leave it alone. It's working. This one works in Pie. Only one setting is needed. Can't remember but you'll find it.
These 2 are the bestest and they work in Pie.
Goodbye HIGH BRIGHTNESS and HEADPHONE VOLUME warning!
In Global System set audio_safe_volume_state to a value of 2. "But mine's already at 2." So then you've been warned. Now add it to the guardian.
In System Table, you'll want to alter a value of 1 in the shown_max_brightness_dialog "But I don't have that entry." So close the app, crank up the brightness and be told how evil it is. Wasn't that fun? Now fix up the entry. Add it to the guardian with the 1 value and if set to 0 don't forget to change to 1
*NOTE* most of these values take about 15-45 seconds to kick in after every reboot. So, before you reboot and say it doesn't work, well, you're kinda right. But you'll soon forget about it and one day be able to reboot without seeing if it works or not. Finally, one day, you'll go to turn up the brightness, or volume, and that warning will not appear. And THAT'S when the real joy is felt. As you're cranking up that slider, in all of .02876 seconds, you're going to think, "Stupid warning" "OMG I am not gonna get a warning" "Hey cool I didn't get the warning. Anyone see that?"
Bonus Feature! When bored I random;y change values of random entries. See how fast you can screw yours up! Don't play with anything unless it's your friend's phone. We're not friends.
I can't vouch this works on any other device except A8. It's a representation of what's on your phone. Adding a custom ROM will change the output and results. Use your noggin, yo
Finally, I turned off battery optimization for the app and feature pack, and turned off notifications. It works fine. No usage pops up because it's very small and no problems with enforcing the edits. No annoying notification required.
mindlery,
I'm doing an article about Drone flight and high NITS display devices. A tablet or phablet that can display the sun equivalent brightness is very expensive so most pilots use cell phones. Of these cell phones samsung and lg both have models that will BOOST brightness (manually at least on the lg G7) but it will only boost for up to 3 minutes. one might think its' a heat issue but the timer is probably a battery saver because when flying I keep resetting my boosted brightness on the Lg-G7 and the phone never gets warm.
So you appear t6o have knowledge on this and there may be an opportunity to help a bunch of pilots if a boost timeout can be changed (easily via app or some easy method) to fix the boosted time to about 30 minutes or make it a manual switch.
If you are at all interested, I'm going to do an article and video for other pilots on this if I can get a solution down.
