Introduction
LineageOS 16.0 is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9.0 (Pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device. The port for the Exynos7580 based devices was created by @Stricted and I along with many contributions from other people in the Android community.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

No, I wouldn't try that.
Our device tree is very different so a clean flash is the only way.
Great ROM
Runs smoothly on my phone everything seems to work just fine, only problem is the system seems to read the fingerprint scanner as an on display scanner.

How do you mean?
The fingerprint scanner location variable can only be front/back/left/right and I configured it for the front. It is working fine for me.

Danny

The thumbnail under the instruction to locate fingerprint scanner shows the scanner location on the screen, while the scanner itself doesn't respond to any input.

I think you are taking that image too literally .
The fingerprint scanner is the home button and it doesn't work whilst the charger is plugged in (not tested that on stock but it doesn't work whilst plugged in for me on LOS).
If you are having issues with the scanner then please dump a full logcat in matlog or via ADB which should help me debug.
Fingerprint scanner don't work like on the first builds of 15.1 los
Wow, that was fast ! :good:
Thank you for bringing Pie on our A510F !
I try your ROM asap.

Ah, I have missed the additional SEPolicy rule for the FP scanner on some variants.
I will correct this later.
I've tried your ROM, and everything is working fine for me exept the firgerprint scanner, but I understand that this will be solved soon.
Very happy with this ROM, thanks for the job !

@danwood76, I am trying to build lineageos for microg 16.0 based on your rom, but failing evertime due to the following error :-

the error log, suggests this :-
"Host key verification failed.
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

I know this has got to do something with the ssh thing and I even tried to generate a ssh key for my local device but nothing happened.
Could you possibly suggest a solution to this.
Thanks.
The local manifest is the same that you have posted in this forum.

I have a few questions, mini review and bugs report. (and sorry for my English, i'm from Poland)
1. HWC is a Hardware Composer? Why is disabled?
2. WiFi hotspot doesn't work.
3. I saw glitches when I switched to Youtube Vanced from playback in background for a few seconds (but this is probably a problem with this app)
4. ROM is a bit faster compared to Lineage 15.1 build by danwood76, but it still having a 2D animation stuttering sometimes.

HWC is buggy on Pie so you get black screens / lockups. We use the graphics hardware acceleration instead and it works well.

Looks like I was missing a config option for Pie, I have added this and it will work in the next build (uploading now).

The phones hardware isn't the quickest, when I had stock on the A5 it ran very slow. We may see slight improvements if we ever manage to fix HWC.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Base source code is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to the project, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.

Reporting Bugs
All bugs should be reported here: Issue Tracker
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

Great Job, A pure Lineage build not less than official... :good:
For Fingerprint Get work just follow this guide,
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g5s/how-to/guide-fix-fingerprint-sensor-oreo-8-1-t3900508
Almost everything is working mention by OP,
And this ROM will be the best for Montana,
Very stable; smooth, No Lags,
Rapid charging works
Moto Actions Works
Live display Works
Never less than official LOS.... :good:
Sorry for the ignorance, but... what's the difference between this LOS 15.1 ROM and @GoldeneyeS2 's build? Also, do you have any plans on porting LOS 16?

There are many many Plans, just wait man, you will have also LOS 16 for PIE, and these are not porting, they are developing by sources... Developers need to use a huge time to build one ROM and than fix things...

There are basically no differences, other than the fact that I removed Moto Camera and that it includes the February security patch. The only reason I'm continuing his ROM is so that people can benefit from Oreo's stability while still receiving monthly security updates.
And yes, I will be soon, unless AsdMonio decides to continue it.
Edit: + USB Audio works too!
Apparently one of my partitions got corrupted. Expect a new build somewhere around Sunday.
Installed the rom and works fine so far, but missing the navigation bar. Is it intentionally disabled by default? I tried to look around the settings but can't find a way to enable it. When I try searching in settings it gives me results for the setting but when I click any of them it brings me to the menu where it's supposed to be, but it's not there.

No such option for me.
Edit: I dirty flashed the rom again and it shows up now. Weird.
Best rom for moto g5s in my opinion, everything works as expected, very fast and smooth, great battery life, from ~2,5h screen on time on stock to almost 5h, very big improvement, fingerprint works after firmware downgrade, ambient display works both on pick up and wave mode, only I'm having a problem with moto camera, it won't record video, keeps saying that another app uses the microphone but both footej camera and gcam record video just fine. Great rom, thanks!
EDIT: I rebooted my phone and moto camera has been working fine since then. Flawless rom, hands down the best.

Whenever I try to take a picture with Open Camera from Telegram, it freezes for about 15 seconds. Only the top 10% of the picture is visible in the preview, the rest is black. The image is saved properly though. Any idea why this happens?

1. Setup a LineageOS build environment based on one of the supported LineageOS 15.1 devices: https://wiki.lineageos.org/index.html
Note: All commands below are executed from the LineageOS root directory
2. Initialise the LineageOS repositories
repo init -u git://github.com/LineageOS/android.git -b lineage-15.1
3. Sync the repos (can take a log time, around 30GB of downloads)
repo sync
4. Create the .repo/local_manifests directory and add the a5xelte manifest (attached)
mkdir .repo/local_manifests/
cp ~/Downloads/a3xelte.xml .repo/local_manifests/
5. Sync our device trees in
repo sync
6. Setup the build environment
source build/envsetup.sh
7. Finally start the build:
brunch lineage_a5xelte-userdebug
To pull in new changes it is usually only necessary to repeat steps 5 - 7.
mmm.. looks good, I will try bruh.

1. I have seen this too, it is odd as we use the same software stack on the A3 and S5NEO and get really smooth composer/animation performance. I am looking in to this.
2. Are you able to copy out the /proc/last_kmsg file and send it to me via pm? You will need root. I have seen a random kernel crash related to audio that I am looking in to, it may be the same issue but the last_kmsg will help.
There are no real "kernel optimisations" as such, our kernel started as the stock A510F kernel which we updated for Oreo. We used this as our base for the A3 and S5NEO as it was the latest kernel with the most frequent updates. I just recently divided it might be nice to port this to it's original device
With regards to Pie, I will be making Pie builds in the near future. I just wanted to get a stable and tested Oreo ROM before I add the Pie patches.
Hi bro i got one more time random reboot in the lockscreen, sorry bro i cant send logcat or /proc/last_kmsg because i am restarted my phone .I guess random reboot reason is not wifi . If i get one more time, i will send you bro also maybe u can know me ,we are speaked discord many time . Last one ui is fully smooth but only notification bar animations do that.

The crash I saw occurred just after I unlocked it via fingerprint, but the logs revealed that it was not fingerprint related but was related to the audio driver.
The /proc/last_kmsg file is persistent after a reboot, that is why I have asked for it. It may be the crash I have seen but I need more logs to confirm exactly where the issue occurs.

Danny

Good luck bro
Uploading a new release, changes:
device tree: pulled in the correct power_profile.xml from stock (fixes reported battery size)
kernel: Fixed a NULL ptr dereference in the sound DMA code that causes a system reboot
Installed the rom, bugs which i found at this moment: (I'm sorry for my bad English, I from Poland)
1. Laggy notification center, and lock screen (but not always)
2. MTP not always work
3. Audio causing reboots (on stock music player less often than on liked by me "Retro Music Player")
And i not found a option to change lock screen wallpaper.
Rom is very fast - faster than other builds of lineage 15.1 and 16 for this phone
sometimes i get reboot when open app.
idk why, i try to clean install, and same too.
but this rom so smooth and really fast.
no lag for pubg ?
thank you so much sir.
btw this kernel not support fast charging?

Installation
Install the latest TWRP (Available Here)
Make a full backup (just in case something goes wrong)
Do a full wipe (Cache, Data, System)
If this is your first time on a LineageOS ROM format data
Download the latest LOS build and transfer it to your phone
Install LOS
If you are installing GApps do it at the same time (preferably in the same install queue)
And finally boot, the first boot can take several minutes as it optimises all the apps
Do NOT install the TWRP app when prompted, this will cause a bootloop Downloads

Bugs I have faced:
- Pixel launcher and Trebuchet keep crashing the second I finish the setup process (especially Pixel Launcher), I had to disable them and install lawnchair to be able to use the phone
- disabling the default dialer also disables the call screen even if Google dialer is installed
I'm not using any mods except magisk
I'll report more bugs if I found them

NFC is tested and working.
Issues with google pay could be caused by anything from bad Gapps (OpenGapps are still in beta) to bad card details.
Does your phone pass SafetyNet?
(you can test this in Magisk)
Some mods people install break SafetyNet.
Are you able to make a log with matlog of a failed pay attempt?
I will need a verbose log from there, matlog removes sensitive information by default but send the log to me privately (usually people upload to google drive and send them to me)
Regards,
Danny

My advice would be to not install a gapps > nano. Opengapps is in beta so expect bugs.

Current Bugs include:
Volume is a bit loud in some cases (Turn off AudioFX). This happens because we are using prebuilt stock audio hal and hidls.
SIM card update requires a system reboot
Don't report bugs related:
to CTS failures (LineageOS does not tamper with CTS results)
with Magisk (It sets a number of props on boot like changing build type to the user resulting in broken adb root etc)

How can fix Bluetooth Audio?
Pushed new vendor and lineage builds. These new builds include fixes for:
- Bluetooth audio
- Addresses some SELinux denials
- Removed duplicate properties
- Synced changes with latest LineageOS source
I have built FM as well with this release which however is buggy. You need to turn it on and off manually every time you change the audio paths. I might kick this from next builds, so please don't report this as bug.

AEX Rom can you please update?
The ROM works good and mostly stable, althrough I encountered some bugs that I already reported to dev, but will be good to post them here too:
NFC doesn't work - my transport card says invalid card type
The charging screen during poweroff is broken and just display android one, you have to force reboot to fix phone
+Everything works as expected so stable for daily use Great job
+ A small request (Add call recording in next build)
Pushed new vendor and LineageOS builds. These builds contains fixes for:
- SELinux denials relating to NFC
- Offline Charging
It seems that after upgrading Android 10, all ROMs cannot use China Telecom's calling card perfectly. At present, this ROM cannot be configured with volte normally. It can only use 2G & 3G, or only 4G, and it is very unstable. Is it because the carrier profile is different? What should I do to make it work?
Thank you !

Hey!
I suggest downgrading to Pie again and then trying it. Q update might have upgraded modem which is now causing issues. You can use either Hikari's or Raghu's Tool.

I just transferred from the official pie. It is normal on the official pie, including your previous onmi and aex android pie. Maybe volte cannot be used, but it can ensure that LTE & CDMA works at the same time. Hikar said that the Chinese version and the international version have different underlying partitions, so the firmware cannot be used universally. I couldn't test it, but my pixel also had the same problem after upgrading to Android 10.
Thank you!

Sorry, because of limited capabilities, I used adb bugreport. More effective information still needs you to filter, thank you for your help!
Nice to see an image for this device, will test this weekend.
Is there already a solution for installing TWRP permanently on the device?

hi thanks for your great job . can I flash this rom on a710fd ?
and what are issues with it ? has pixel (google) apps? I need closest rom to pixel experience and so far only this one seems to be compatible with my device. (any suggestions?)

Yes. You can flash this on any Exynos variant of the A7 2016.
You can flash gapps from https://opengapps.org/ I would highly recommend you flash the pico Android 10.0 ARM variant as it is the most light and jank free GApps package.
After you boot-up, you can download and install Google apps such as the dialer app. Make sure you set the apps like the Dialer and the Messages as the default apps in Settings -> Apps and Notifications -> Default Apps
Let me know how you feel the ROM is.
Thanks
Thanks for the good work bro. It's smooth.
Fingerprint still not working
Hi
My fingerprint sensor is not working with this OS. Why ? Will you be fixing that in a future update
And thanks for this project man. Galaxy a7 2016 seems to be a very uncommon phone because almost no custom ROMs support it.

Well it's not working on my devices (sm-a710m variant). When I open the fingerprint setup well it's like the fingerprint sensor wasn't detected (I just get stuck on the "touch sensor" screen.
I wish I could provide logs yes but how Using bug report ?

https://www.xda-developers.com/what-is-adb/ this should help. What we need here is a logcat. Once you've followed the instructions in the above guide,
type in the following when u open the fingerprint registration settings page:
adb logcat > log.log
and send that log to me
