Hi.
I've bought myself a iPhone and therefore I won't use my old niki as a phone, but I've been using it as GPS (yes, I have an external GPS receiver). My question is: Is there a way to install a lite ROM that maybe disable the phone function but keep the device running for some app like GPS?
Hi.
Enjoying your iPhone? I'm not sure what my next phone will be, but the iPhone is a serious candidate, together with the HTC Desire.
In WinMo there is something called a Comm Manager.
In my 6.5 ROM in can be found in [start] - [utilities] - [Comm Manager], but this can (and possibly will) be different in other ROMs.
Anyway; here you can turn off [Phone], [3G], [Data Connection] etc, and only turn on the [Bluetooth] setting.
or, even simpler: you can remove the SIM card, and in will not connect the phone to any network, but you will still be able to use it as a GPS device.
Or play Solitaire.
Or use is as a Camera.
Or use it as a coaster.
hope this helps.
Thank you. I've already done that.
I was only wondering if there is a way to stop some background processes that aren't in use right now or better, install a clean rom without the phone function, but thanks anyway, I'm sure I can live with it
Hi all,
We have written an application that uses Geoframework 2.0 to bring GPS coordinates for us. We use it to track some of our vehicles and sits nicely alongside our in house app. We are currently using HTC Touch 2.
The problem I have is that the GPS coordinates stop working and the only method of starting them again is doing a soft reset. Does anyone know how to stop and start an internal GPS driver. I would like to control this from onside our app If I have to ditch the geoframework for another driver I do not have an issue doing that.
Your help will be very much appreciated.
Regards
Ifti.
Hi there!
I have serious trouble using C:geo open source with Samsung Galaxy S2.
In compassmode, the distancemeter always hangs. Often this happens when I get near the cache (10-20m)
Also, the direction of the compass is wrong.
I have tried C:geo on three Galaxy S2 and this happens with everyone of them. The problem is not isolated to just c:geo but also the geocachings offical app by groundspeak and Neongeo.
I think It has something to do with the gps interface on this model.
It is unlikey that is is caused by firmware issues aswell, all three phones I've tested with has different firmware versions.
The solution so far has been to use an external bluetooth GPS reciever + the app "Bluetooth GPS" from Googoo Android.
I have tried also to deactive sensor aid in the settings menu on the phones.
I have also calibrated the compass.
Using maps and navigation works very well, but not geocaching apps...
Any ideas what the problem could be?
Hello!
I have an MTK6577-based Android 4.0.4 smartphone and an external Bluetooth GPS-receiver.
They worked fine for a few weeks, but now I have headaches trying to make them connect.
The GPS-receiver seems to be connected, but when I click the Connect button in the Bluetooth GPS app I get a strange error message:
"Connection failed [JSR82] connect: Connection is not created (failed or aborted)"
My system is the same, except that I moved the majority of my apps from the internal SD-card to the external one. I did this not manually, but by using the dedicated menu in Settings - Applications - SD-card.
My guess is that the Bluetooth GPS app is looking for one or more system files, but cannot find them. Actually, I moved this app back to where it was (on the internal SD-card), but still no success in getting the GPS to work.
Can you help me?

Solution: repairing, and switching on Mock locations.
Hi folks, stuck in this problem for 3 days, begin to lose hope.
Problem: Saw cell (Samsung Note3 - SM9005) didn't allow input voice , suddenly. Nor in whatsapp, nor video filming (only pics). Either phone calling is REALLY lagging, then I can't talk anyway. Everytime it says "Not succesfull", or "rec is not configurable at the moment", etc., even nothing. [translation from ita].
So I realized it neither plays any sound. Nor ringing, not alarms. Not music. Not plays, not "receive" sound input.
I've tried: Three different ROM. One Marshmallow, Two Lolly (one stock). Everytime DEEPLY WIPED internal (also wipe DATA). Put off external card. Tried installing google TTS, and so.
It seems an hardware problem. Seen around world some people got quite same problem, but no solutions till now.
Do you think something hardware have broken ? Some Media controller ?
