Hello All, I have been having a problem downgrading from pi to oreo. Whenever I flash oreo rom, I get black screen after Boot Image. Kindly help me please.
Lazyflasher maybe help by stock miui.
Or Mi flashtool, but look that u don't lock ur bootloader.
By a customer Rom u must wipe system, data, dalvik, cache and maybe the internal sd.
Someone can better better help u, when u give a little bit more information.
Please wipe all the partitions like cache dalvik data and interanal and also do formating and do a factory restore. It will solve your problem.

do a factory reset, clean cache partition, clean dalvik cache, format cache data system and sd card in cwm recovery. but do a backup first with titanium backup.
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe Dalvik-cache
done!
You will also need to flash a stock Kernel if you are using a custom one.
Also if it is for warranty purposes make sure you flash a stock firmware too. They can all be found with a quick search.

If you just relax for a minute , take a deep breath and start from the beginning. Listen to what people are telling you. Follow step by step from the beginning. Read what the developer says on flashing the rom and then it will work. Almost impossible not to get the rom working after that. It will all come together mate. Read a lot of posts. Good luck.

Hello. I have backed up my stock rom and would like to flash a new custom rom. Team Win Recovery is all new to me as I used clockwork recovery and Amon RA on my old evo 4g. Before I flash a new rom, I know I'm supposed to wipe cache and dalvik, but do I also wipe system? Thank you for your help in advance.
If you're flashing a different ROM all together, then I usually do Factory Reset, Cache, Dalvik Cache. (in that order)
I don't know that the order matters, it's just my way of doing it, and I've never had any problems.

Thanks for your quick response. Gladly appreciate it! But there's also an option in the wipe menu to wipe "system". In the wipe menu, there's: cache, dalvik cache, factory reset, battery stats, rotation, system. I wiped cache, dalvik and battery, anything else I neeed to wipe before I install a custom rom? In clockwork recovery, all I used to do is wipe data, cache and dalvik.

Yes, when flashing a fresh ROM wipe EVERYTHING, including system. I usually wipe a few times just to make sure I'm starting fresh. I haven't used this super wipe but you can also check this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1700211
Edit: I don't usually worry with wiping battery stats or rotation

Thank you. I wiped everything and performed a factory reset.
You don't need to wipe system. Any decent rom out there will wipe the system for you before the rom flashes.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe that the factory reset wipes system anyway.
No factory reset does not wipe system. Also do not use super wipe zips. They are bad for you

Factory reset wipes the data partition. It does the same thing as the factory reset within the phone settings. If you wipe system, it completely wipes out the OS, and there will be nothing to boot. Of course you can still get back to recovery. When you flash a rom, by default it should wipe the system for you and replace the system with the rom you are flashing. There may be a case where you are flashing an incremental upgrade, which will not wipe the system.
The reason you do a factory reset (data wipe) when flashing between roms is because settings and other stuff that was saved on the data partition may not be compatible with the rom and cause issues.

Based on what?
Based on what developers have said. Super wipe originated from a CWM issue back on the EVO 4G and people never seemed to of forgotten.

The issue was with cwm not superwipe. The superwipe created for this device works fine.
the issue was with cwm, the superwipe was made to combat that issue. a good dev will set his rom to wipe system. all a user has to do is factory reset in recovery. Superwipe is a unnecessary step and could be bad for the phone if its corrupted or the person who made it did it wrong.
really great info, thanks guys!

Yes. A system wipe doesn't affect recovery. It just wipes the system partition on your phone. The recovery partition remains unaffected.

Can someone explain why on some Roms you got bootloop after wipe data/factory reset?
I got this on Clean'N'Tweaked and Original Xperia T ROM?
What 'vital' files are in /data partition to cause this?

wipe data doesn't wipe /system, only /data and /cache.
Also I got bootloop even when performing from Settings -> Backup and restore
I think that rom's have Small Apps.
Small Apps need some cache, almost all two zip's mod need to install part 1,clear cache, reboot, then inatall part 2.
That's why after wipe some roms that includes Small Apps or other 2 zip's mods won't work.

There's a different option in recovery to wipe system

this^^. wipe data/factory reset from cwm does not wipe /system.
Do u wipe data just after installing without booting even once?
Sent from my Xperia Mini Pro using xda premium
Hmmmm....The BIG questions is.....Do you wipe/factory reset after flashing custom roms or before flashing custom roms???
if you wipe/factory reset after flashing customs rom then YES you will get bootloop in certain custom roms....if you wipe/factory reset before flashing custom roms then NO you won't get bootloop....
you should also check if the kernel you use is compatible with custom roms you about to flash on your phone....you need flash custom kernel first (using flashtool) before you flash custom roms using CWM....
OK Thanks for the answers. Maybe small apps are caousing boot loop
But I have another question: How Xperia T users using stock Rom when they do factory reset don't get boot loop?

Factory reset can solve the bootloop problem when we flash one ROM over other...
Factory Reset doesn't cause bootloops...
It just wipes the non-system apps and stuff...
Flashing a ROM with different framework over a ROM (like flashing CM over stock based ROM or flashing ICS over GB etc) , without wiping data /factory reset can cause bootloops...
Although there are a hundred other reasons for bootloops but it's the major one
Iknow , its very late ( 4 years ) lol
but its because of framework-res!
if U flash zellycream rom and reset it ----> every thing normal
install small app on stock rom and after reset---> BOOTLOOP
Sory for my bad English
