Amazfit GTR Chinese to English - Amazfit

So, I just found this amazing forum. I recently bought the recently released Amazfit GTR in China (I live in china) all is super cool except the watch is in Chinese (did not know you cannot change it). I dont presume someone already managed to get English language firmware, but if anyone ever does, maybe we can use this thread? I have not found anything regarding the Amazfit GTR.

GTR is like BIP: you cannot mod it while connected to the computer, it must be done via firmware updates sent from the app (Amazfit Watch). So unless Huami releases an update or someone hacks this (high chances of permanent bricking, like what happens with BIP/Core/etc), it can't be done.

1. Device released in China market for China people
2. You are in China
....and you expected English? :laugh: Even if you knew that will be Chinese language, this is China, they don't care English firmware, they have own one
So i'm afraid answer is no.... Official this model is not released in international market. In Amazfit web site you can't buy it too, so probably there is no English firmware yet too available for costumers

I think better is to buy international version of device if you hope to find English language inside of device :laugh:

The watch looks nice and apparently waterproof enough to swim and has a BIP amazing battery life yet nice round face.
Hope they release an international version
But for chinese->English you could put your phones Google translate camera to work [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

I never expected language to be that big of deal, to me it just made sense that language can be changed, it seems relatively trivial. I see now that amazfit seems to be a bit special about other languages.
Anyways as palmdoc stated, I bough it mainly because of the battery life (and the price ), otherwise I would've gone with the huawei GT, which from what I read they do exactly theee same things. (except for English language apparently)
I have used the google translate camera hahaha, it works. Also the watch actually doesn't have that many functions so you can easily memorize every button. If it was a full blown smartwatch then no, not possible to use it in Chinese. The APP is in English so configuring the watch and looking at the synced data can be done in English. That definitely helps.

I also live in China and this is how I change the language of my Amazfit Verge 2 (Released a month before the Amazfit GTR)

Verge lite and GTR run RTOS, proprietary/closed OS that has no data connection to a computer, everything must be done from the app, with high chance of bricking, just like BIP.
Nexo (aka Verge 2) runs an OS based on Android 8.1, it is a whole different world, and that's one reason its battery lasts only one day.

Maybe they are referring to the International version, that wasn't releases yet AFAIK?

Could you please clarify if in new Amazfit GTR watch, you can play music over the watch (little internal memory for mp3 like in Stratos version)?
Would be great if GTR let us listen the music without a phone.

No, no internal storage available for users. You can only control music being played on phone.

Confirmed no music playback from the watch itself, you can only control the playback from your watch.
You should wait until early august for the english version tho, well at least according to gearbest.

GTR like Verge lite does not have data connection to computer using USB, all must be done via Bluetooth and that's why there is always a high risk of bricking it... If this is available, it will be done via app on phone.

No. GTR is like BIP, any modifications should be done via Amazfit Watch app.
