Hi all! I need help replacing stock recovery from boot.img with the one contained in the CWM.zip file.
A little introduction:
I just want to install CWM onto miy device (Samsung Galaxy Young TV, S5367, Broadcom BCM21553 chipset) which has no CWM/TWRP recovery made.
This device have the kernel and recovery into one partition (boot) which I can modify by unpacking&repacking the boot.img and flashing through Odin.
The problem is, that only one CWM was made for this device, and it's usable as a temporary session (flashing CWM.zip through stock recovery).
I want to replace the stock recovery contained into the boot's ramdisk with the one in cwm.zip, but how can I do that? I've tried just replacing the files but obviously it didn't work (CWM recovery boots, but shows a lot of mounting-related errors).
Any help is appreciated!

Hello guys I have Alcatel One Touch 918n. I was trying to make a custom rom for the device. It is an armv6 device running on Android 2.3.6 . But for complete building and tweaks I need full stock rom which is not available on internet. So I decided to use cwm backup. I have a cwm v5.0.2.8 port for my device but I think it does not properly image the boot.img. as far as I know boot.img has zimage and ramdisk folder. Ramdisk has many tweaks associated with it. But my boot img contains zimage but no ramdisk. Also if I restore the boot.img it causes bootloop. So everytime I have to use advanced restore and restore all other img separately. Any solution so that I can fix the boot img
I made zImage, uImage and modules without getting any errors but how to flash them to the device?Using adb? making boot.img making cwm zip how to pack them?

I wanted to do the same, but apparently you have to create a whole firmware image (as in here--> https://www.miniand.com/wiki/Allwinner/Unpacking+and+building+LiveSuit+images)
I've been trying to create an image for a $rand A10 tablet, but as soon as I flash it the tablet will not boot anymore. Dunno wth is happening.
I have an Vodafone Smart tab 2 (Lenovo A2107A) and i have attempted to instal a new room .
The thing is that i have got the error:
press and set the country code!
timeout failed!
The thing is that i have "cwm-based recovery v 6.0.1.5 and by mistake i flashed a room wich needed cwm 5.0.2. 8 cause i copied (by mistake) the wrong room .
I can get into cwm-based recovery v 6.0.1.5 but i cant do much as i dont have anymore that backup folder .

It sounds like you have two problems:
1. You have a Recovery (CWM) that's not the one you want.
2. You may be in jeopardy of loosing your NVRAM (Wifi Mac / MEID) if things get really bad, since you've lost your backup folder.
What I would do to get back to CWM 5...
1. get VCOM USB drivers installed
2. get SP Flash Tool installed
3. Find the appropriate scatter file and CWM recovery.img
4. open the scatter file in SPFT
5. then select *JUST* the RECOVERY block to write over
6. choose Download to write over that chuck of flash with the CWM5 recovery.img
(update: also there is a way to replace a recovery from within a recovery, someone might have cooked one of those up on the A2107 threads. It would be an update.zip that didn't do much other than flash the recovery.img to the proper part of flash)

How do I flash a ROM without the recovery included in the zip? How do i remove the recovery from the zip file before flashing? I'm trying to flash a ROM that has twrp recovery, it won't let me restore my backups from CWM, if i remove twrp from the zip do i need to insert cwm or just flash the zip with twrp removed thru my current cwm?
Check the rom for recovery.img.
Rest is hit and trial to remove it all together or replace it with the one with yours.
A bit of risk involved.
Keep the backups handy.
Well, is TWRP included for a reason? Since you didn't tell us which phone, it's pretty hard to give a good answer. There is no universal method for how to install roms as they can vary by phone, carrier, and update it's on. I know for some phones, when the recovery is included like that, it will flash the zip and install recovery then reboot to the new recovery to finish the install. Not all roms can work with all recoveries. I would re-read the installation instructions to make sure that this is not the case or that only that version of TWRP can be used with the new rom.
As far as how to remove (if needed, which I'm wary of without knowing the details...), you just need to use something like 7zip or WinRAR to open the zip as an archive and delete the recovery img. You do not want to unzip and rezip the contents because most likely it will break the signature of the rom and fail to flash in any recovery.
Hey everyone!
I own a BluBoo X6 (MT6732) and have been having some difficulty installing a custom recovery on my device. As the title explains, after I flash a custom recovery onto the device I am presented with a blank black screen for about 10-20 seconds and the the phone will boot like normal to the Android lock screen. This phone seems to have little to no support at all that I could find online, so I've only been working off the stock ROM. My attempts to have been as follows:
Using MTKDroidTools with the stock Boot.img to create a CWM recovery (Flashed from that application) - Blank screen then boots
Using MTKDroidTools with the stock Boot.img to create a CWM recovery (Flashed via SP Flash Tools) - Blank screen then boots
Using MTKDroidTools with the stock Boot.img to create a CWM recovery (Flashed via Android app) - Blank screen then boots
Using TWRP Setup with to create a TWRP recovery (Flashed from that application) - Doesn't install anything and stock recovery works perfectly
I haven't found any other one-click form of applications so my next step will likely be to try and port a recovery from a different phone but I thought I'd post my current issue incase it's something craz obvious that I don't know about as I'm 100% noob and trying to learn.
Thanks in advance!
