Hiya
I'm having issues with 4 Google Services (Calendar, Keep, Gmail and Music) not syncing for some reason.
Below is what I see:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I've tried the usual stuff like manual sync, removing and re adding the account etc. The only reason it shows as synced today is from when I removed and re added the account. Before that, the last sync date showed as the day I got the phone.
I've checked the log files and see logs such as:
Code:
syncs:
sync-errors:
CombinedSyncSnapshot: {Last Sync Start Time (system clock): 07/27 22:42:50.472, Sync Type: BTD_GMAIL, Connectivity Type: TYPE_WIFI, Throwables: Throwable: java.lang.SecurityException: Access denied! Only Google signed apps are allowed to access the SubscribedFeeds provider. Calling package: com.google.android.gm, stacktrace: java.lang.SecurityException: Access denied! Only Google signed apps are allowed to access the SubscribedFeeds provider. Calling package: com.google.android.gm, android.os.Parcel.createException(Parcel.java:1953)
The interesting bit above is the "Access Denied! Only Google signed apps are allowed" bit.
The apps that are acting up are all official apps. Some were pre installed, some from the play store. I've tried uninstalling update for the apps, clearing phone and app cache etc. Nothing works.
Anyone know what the issue is?
Edit: I'll give £15 ($20) to whoever gives me a fix. Money will be sent via PayPal
Thanks
Have you made sure to disable all power saving modes under the battery settings? Power Saving Mode disables the automatic sync services of those apps while it's enabled

Hiya
Thanks for the reply but yep, all disabled. I've never once enabled battery saving strings on this phone either
(screenshot attached of my battery settings)
I even made sure to turn off Auto battery management for the affected apps, made no difference
Had to factory restore in the end which solved the problem.

I got my Galaxy S II today as my first android phone, but I don't have unlimited data.
Is there anyway for me to turn off auto refresh for things like the weather widget, gmail, facebook, ect...or make it so that it only refreshes on wifi? I went into settings and found "auto sync" and "background sync", but i only see "facebook", and "google" :/
I'm on 2gb and don't have any problems running over on data. As long as you aren't streaming a lot you should be fine (unless you are on the 200mb plan). I use weatherbug and set the refresh rate to 1hr. Gmail is still push and it uses minimal data. I have google voice running all the time too.
Just keep an eye on the data for a while until you know how much you actually use. Use 3g watchdog or mydatamanager from the market
Facebook will be right there to disable. Background data being disabled should stop some data use when the phone is asleep. For gmail there is a setting in the gmail app. Most apps that sync will have a setting.
Juice defender has a way to block all data use when the screen is off. Be careful though, most "task killers" cause slower performance and can decrease battery life. In general stay away from anything that auto kills apps.

Okay thanks. (how do I "thank" on this forum?...) But i still can't find how to stop or limit push emails in the gmail app... theres a "turn off notifications" thing, but I'm not sure if it stops the email from downloading too...
If you disable auto sync, everything under your gmail account on the sync settings page will be disabled.
If you just want to stop gmail:
Settings/accounts and sync/manage accounts/sync gmail

Maybe there isn't a setting in the gmail app. If you go to settings, accounts, Google and uncheck gmail I think that will make your gmail manually sync only when you refresh in the app.

This might sound like silly question, but I couldn't find auto-sync setting on my XT910. Last week I upgraded it to the official 2.3.6 update, and today after installing a battery saving app, suddenly I didn't receive any email at all for the whole day, the new emails could only show up when I tapped refresh manually in the Gmail app, I decided to uninstall that problematic app but the issue still persisted, so I tried to look for the Auto-sync setting but I couldn't. I have a Galaxy S II too and I know so well that the setting in question is in "Account and Sync", but in my RAZR, there's only "Account" which doesn't contain Auto-sync checkbox, I looked for in "Data manager" as well, but there's only "Background data" checkbox. Up until now new emails still aren't being pushed to my RAZR, I really suspect that the app turned off my Auto-sync and didn't turn it back on.
Could anyone please help me? It's driving me nuts
P.S.: the culprit app is Easy Battery Saver, also FYI I didn't apply any mod to my RAZR, only updated to 2.3.6 as offered by Motorola
settings->account->[email protected]> sync docs, contacts, gmail, calendar are all inside.
P.S. Juicedefender is more stable.
Hi, I had tried that before, but somehow the checkboxes on the right have disappeared
please help

There's ways of doing it using the 'Activities' shortcuts offered by the likes of ADW & LauncherPro, but you can also use Smart Actions to disable background data, then enter the market. It'll pop up saying background data needs to be enabled, and take you right there.

Hey, I'm using this app. Try it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.francesandmarky.android.syncsettings&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5mcmFuY2VzYW5kbWFya3kuYW5kcm9pZC5zeW5jc2V0dGluZ3MiXQ..
Settings-> data manager-> background data, tick that.

Just add the power widget to home screen. There is a sync all button. Or am I being daft and not answering the question.....lol

New to me V30 and Gmail shows only last 30 days of messages.
Any messages show up only on laptop or desktop. Nothing from March 2019 show on phone.
Have checked Settings, Accounts, Google and Sync -- there is no date limit on any of these settings. Have also checked Settings from Desktop logon to Gmail and there is no apparent location or setting that allows or restricts "days to show" -- or I am not seeing the setting.
Where may I adjust it to unlimited or at least 90 days ?

It's a simple app setting.
Has nothing to do with V30, but the Android Gmail app. Default is 30 days, but you can set for more if you wish. There's also app settings for auto downloading attachments, etc.

In the Gmail app settings, click on your email address. Retention period is customized per account. Some people have more than one Gmail account.
You can also go to gmail.com on your phone web browser if you want to see your computer view.
Have only 1 email account and it is gmail
When I click on Accounts and select my gmail account, a long list of permissions to various parts show up, calendar, sync etc but nothing that has a days to send./sync value
Holding down the area with email does nothing and Sync button by itself has no function other that sync now
Still elusive -- if step by step can be posted, would help a lot.
Also tried on laptop, logged on in normal desktop mode and Settings does not have an area to set anything with value in days -- in fact, it shows All mail in Inbox from years ago to present day

Struggling to get Redmi Note 9 Pro to store my Google Maps history.
I used to have it quite smooth in Samsung A8 and other devices, but here I only get a couple dots connected with straight lines. Mostly these points are from the moments when I unlock the phone. Locked phone doesn't allow G-Maps to get the history right.
Some exclusions: when I use Maps navigation, timeline stored is very precise.
What I have tried:
- "lock" maps in task switcher
- set permissions for Maps, services, other location-related apps - to "Allow while in use" or "Allow always" (when this option is accessible)
- disable batter-saving for these apps
- share my live location permanently to my friend through Google Maps. He can see the location, but at the same time no history/timeline stored in a smooth way.
What I would like: have the Timeline with much more details stored.

Same problem here. Very annoying!
My workaround is using http://gpslogger.app and letting it locate once per minute and upload the data to my Google drive. Thus location timeline becomes reasonable accurate.

How much battery drain does this cause? (How much more battery life would you get if you disabled this)?

Hard to tell as I'm very much confined to my home at the moment and only leave for some hours. Whenever I let the phone just rest on the table, It doesn't even locate or send the location. The other problem (random freezes and reboots) didn't happy any more since I set my 2nd sim card to 3G.
I got this phone 1 month after release. It's been doing well but recently I've been noticing wierd battery drainage while the phone is off. It's lasting me around half a day, maybe 2 hours more. This is under normal usage. Downloaded music off spotify, my watch and headphones on bluetooth. It occasionally gets hot in my pocket and appears to drain around 25% sitting overnight with AOD off.
Cloud crap. Google backup Transport maybe.
Try temporarily disabling Google play Services and see if the helps at night. Backup Transport is one of it's dependencies but that may not be enough to kill it completely.
One reason I like a SD card; it greatly reduces or eliminates the need for cloud storage.
Disable all Samsung, Google and carrier feedback. Disable Google Firebase too.

Saddly google backups happend during the night while charging, samsung cloud is inactive and battery usage shows that Google Play Services consumes less then One UI. I also found it very hard to recreate the problem using a different phone, like huawei or other samsungs.

Tap on AOD >.5% @hr
Always on AOD >1%@hr
That's on my N10+. If you're not seeing better than that, there's somethings running in the background. Probably Backup Transport is at the top of the list.
