Hi Guys,
I've noticed a problem with my Whatsapp the last couple of days, I have single messages to vibrate when coming through, but group messages to not vibrate (I'm in a lot of groups and its problematic when I'm at work )
I've uninstalled/reinstalled, and its swtiched off in app, but no matter what, I still get vibration when a group message comes through, which is a lot.
Has anyone else noticed this? I've looked through the S5 settings but cant seem to find anything to fix it. It's only happened since I updated WA 2 days ago.
Also, I should add, I changed my cache from dalvik to ART, so maybe that could be it?
Cheers.

In groups or single notification... there is an independent configurations; I had ART and Dalvik and no vibration at all
Hi Mate,
I never had any issues at all until the other day, I originally used the in app settings to control vibration, but even if they are both off it wil still vibrate for new messages,
I've gone back to Dalvik as the phone was begining to lag and hang, but still have the issue with whatsapp.
Sorry guys, I didn't realise it was that confusing.
the break it down.
Until the latest update (about 3-4 days ago) I had single messages in WA to vibrate, but group ones not to vibrate. This was controlled in the App itself, via settings -> Notifications.
So I had Vibrate: Default for Message (single) notifications and Group Notifications Vibrate: Off.
BUT it still vibrates for group message, even though its off.
Does that make sense now?

This is happening with me too since the last update and is driving me nuts!
Hello!
I'm having a similar problem, did you manage to find a solution?
I had opened a thread about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/whatsapp-bug-please-help-t2824223
I reported the bug to Whatsapp, they told me it's a feature lol! I asked them if this was indeed a feature then what's the use of the "default" setting under notification->Vibration. No answer.
I upgraded Whatsapp about 5 times to different new versions to no avail. I even uninstalled it and reinstalled it to no avail.
Is there any solution? Can we use tasker to fix this?
Thank you kindly.
Issues Resolved???
Hello!!
I am also in a similar situation.
My phone(HTC M8) Vibrates even after all the Vibrations are turned off.
But this happens only when the phone is in Vibration mode or Silent Mode.
In the Normal mode audio comes but no Vibrations.
Need to stop all Vibrations for Whatsapp Notifications.
Any Suggestions??
Thanks!!

Reporting this bug to whatsapp since april 2014? or early....but they don´t do nothing.
I found a workaround: If you want no vibration put Whatssapp Tone notification: None
I suggest all whatsapp vibrate problem :
Go play store and install app ops and than reboot your phone open app ops and find whatsapp kill permission of vibrate
Wattsup just updated.
Also make sure you have Notification for GROUPS and individual messages turned to OFF in Wattsup Settings !!
1st seleck on vibtare on go back exit from app and now select off may be its work
Im also face this problem in my note3
Same problem here with 2.12.194. Before the update I had individual messages vibrate on and group message vibrate off. Now with every message in a group chat the phone vibrates. I already uninstalled and installed whatsapp, deleted cache, even downgraded to 2.12.193 where I didn't had this problem but now it's present!!! :S:S:S:S

For those people who end up in this thread because they experience this issue: I've found a solution.
Go to: Settings --> Notifications --> Notification Sound --> "Silent" AND Settings --> Notifications --> Vibrate --> "Off"
Do this for single messages, or group messages, or both, whichever you need.
The problem is that if you set a sound (instead of silent) for these messages, but then set your phone to silent/vibrate, it will try to play the sound when you receive a message, but the phone, not Whatsapp, will "convert" it to vibrate.
I can confirm it on WA 2.12.252, even if Notification sound and Vibrate are set to Off :/

even though this is an ola thread I made an account just to thank you for this post, been driving me nuts for days!!
A few days ago I noticed that my voicemail notification in the notification bar was still displayed even though I did not have any new voicemails.
I googled and found a few suggestions on how to clear the notification. One was to go into app manager and uncheck the show notification box in the phone app. I did that but still had the notification showing. The next was to use the clear cache and clear data buttons in the phone app, both of which I did. That did clear the notification, but now I do not get any voicemail notifications .
I tried to go back into the phone ap and recheck the notification box, but it is now greyed out and I can not.
I next tried using the reset phone option in backup and reset, but I still have the same issue.
I have the phone rooted and S Off using sunshine and have TWRP installed. I do not have a custom ROM installed.
Can anyone verify that they have the ability to check/uncheck the notification box in their phone app, I might be imagining that I was able to do that part. If I should have the ability to use that box, can anyone help me out in getting the option back?
*****Update*****
It seems all of my problem was not phone related, but Verizon related. Somehow, they had my account partially subscribed to visual voicemail. I had them put me back on the regular plain voicemail and I am getting the notifications again now, so problem solved.
Android Nougat 7.1.1
I excluded Whatsapp and GMail from battery optimization (doze), I set the notifications to level 4, ensured that there is no data restriction for these apps; however most of the time to see notifications I have to wake up the phone from deep sleep (by turning on the screen): in facts, most of the time when I wake up the phone, after some seconds I receive a lot of old notifications and missed calls of Whatsapp and also emails of GMail/Inbox.
I also tried by not closing whatsapp, but leaving its window in background, but nothing solved this major issue.
In developer options, under active applications section, whatsapp and GMail are not always present (after a while they falls in "background applications", which, to from what I heard, is ok).
I also heard that to keep an app always active (if we are without root) there is the need to have a persistent notification, but Whatsapp and GMail are not provided with such option.
On another phone with Lollipop 5.0, a phone which I rooted, I had the same issue which I solved by using "Push Notification Fixer", but on the phone with Nougat (an Xperia) I can't/won't enable the root (otherwise I will lost the camera's DRM); since "Push Notification Fixer (PNF)" on the rooted phone was able to solve the issue, I suspect that the culprit is GCM (Google Cloud Messaging)? by using PNF on the rooted phone I set the "heartbeat" to 5 mins.
I know that there's also a "no root" version of PNF, but doesn't works reliable for me.
So: maybe there is a way to always keep Whatsapp and GMail In running apps or there is another workaround/fix?
Thanks.

Well, since yesterday I installed an app called "Recurrent Notification Manager" which is able to intercept notifications from apps which I choosed (Whatsapp and Inbox) and the most notable thing is that this app is provided with a persistent notification: I noticed that when I receive a Whatsapp message, is firstly reported by this app instead of whatsapp. What I mean:
First of all: I inserted whatsapp inside this app by choosing a green color of the led and a personal sound.
1) I send a messagge to myself from another phone after a while of deep sleep (eg 1 hour)
2) I receive a notification after few seconds
3) I wake up the phone and I see a notification from "Recurrent Notification Manager" but nothing from whatsapp itself
4) I open whatsapp and I receive the message.
Well, this behaviour, at least, seems to make me able to immediately receive notifications.
I will keep on do tests and I hope that this app really solved the bothersome issue.

I'm sorry for the noise: I'm updating step by step this thread to notice every single action that seems to help.
In "Recurrent Notification Manager" app, I also set to monitor "ongoing notifications"; these appear to be the notifications that Whatsapp often displays before of receiving a message, when it says "Checking new messages" and "You may have new messages" (I'm not very sure about the English grammar since I have the Italian language set on my phone) : I often see these notifications before receiving a message and sometimes I also have to wait some minutes, to receive a message: "Recurrent Notification Manager" will send me a "real notification" when Whatsapp shows only these "early notifications"; in facts, as I've said, when I receive a new message, the first notification is from the notification manager instead of Whatsapp.
i have the redmi note 9s, im facing issues with all the notifications in general,
p.e.
- when i receive a whatsapp message i get the notification sound and vibration, sometimes just the soud and sometimes nothing.
and another thing (not sure if that´s how it works) if im i a regular phone call none of the notifications emite a sound nor vibration, im using headphones when in a regular phone call only.
I have checked all permission for apps that i want to get notifications from and restored the phone to factory settings. any thoughts?
Have you set the priority for those apps to "high"? That helped me for some apps.
Well, and setting up the notifications in the generel phone settings, and also activate autostart for those apps.
Not trying to self-promote but there appears to be many threads on this problem so I created a new thread so people can find a possible fix easier.
