LG v30 h930 - LG V30 Questions & Answers

After OTA upgrade to Pie I get the following problem ... my cell phone says usb cable is connected (but it's not), i have the ability to decide what to do, but when i choose it stays on charging option via usb cable all the time. After a few restarts it disappears, but after it disappears, when I lock it then it blocks.
After factory reset and alternate reset it's same.

Is it asking for your Google password?
Sometimes it happens if you turn off the phone without unlocking the screen first. Then you flashed new firmware, and it's trying to verify the phone wasn't stolen.
That's my best guess from what you're describing.

No google pasw...
After pie ota update everything got disrupted. When i turn off mobile, i cant normal turn it on, must do with vol. down key an power but.. to turn it on.
Is there any way to skip this ?

I had the same problem and could not reflash the KDZ from LG-UP because it would not recognise my phone. But after factory reset using the power and volume down buttons, the phone rebooted normally without asking password. Hope this helps

And after upgrading to 30q, i still have the same problems.....
What's the latest version of Oreo "22j" ?

[Q] HELP!!! Bootloop/Security Error/No Download Mode

So, I hope I'm not completely bricked. I was using LGNPST to flash a stock ROM, and at 85%, the phone rebooted and is now in a bootloop that ends in "Security Error". I cannot get to Download Mode either, nor is it seen by ADB (obviously). Can anyone help?
Try this- with the phone powered off, press and hold down the volume and power key simultaneously. You will be prompted with a Factory hard reset screen. Confirm the actions and you should be good as new.

I did that already. I get the Android, and then it goes back to the bootloop again after about 30 seconds.

I was stock 4.0.4 unrooted (this all started because the phone won't pull the JB update OTA, and the phone wasn't showing in ADB to root it), and yes, it's the LG logo with Security Error on the bottom.

So you can still get into factory hard reset mode and then it just bootloops after the reset has been confirmed?

Don't worry, it's a soft brick.
Get the phone in download mode and flash a kdz for your device.
You may have to do a factory reset, but don't until you have to.

Root TOT VS990 Tungkick Boot Failure

Hello all,
I am experiencing a boot error telling me to using the Verizon Software Repair Assistant and that it is experiencing an "Authentication Fail #9 [Modified].
Can someone link to the repair tool? I cannot get the assistant now that the phone refuses to boot. Or if someone has a different solution they are welcome to offer it.
Much thanks.

Windows 7. I should add that it may be due to something external from the root. After rooting I installed a few things, rebooted, then a few more things were installed, and rebooted and then this came up. It may be after installing and setting up Chainfire's Liveboot app.
I am in the same boat. Stuck on "Start Up Failed". Computer will not recognize the phone. I dont know what to do. My Verizon Repair Assistant is from my Galaxy S6 Edge & doesnt recognize my LG V10. Any suggestions or assistance would greatly be appreciated.

LG V30 vs996 doesn't stay in download mode or boot past Verzion screen

My friend was following the WTF V30/V30+/V30S Bootloader Unlock and Root and Frankenstein posts. He started using the Magstik to uninstall bloatware then tried applying a OTA update that showed up on the phone it restarted but never went past the Verizon load screen. The phone now no longer boots to where you can use the phone nor stays in download mode to use adb. On one computer sees the device as LGE Android MTP Device on another computer it shows it as that but the device needs troubleshooting. Anyone have any advice to get it back to where I might be able to get it functional again?
Thank you again in advance!

Why would he apply an OTA update when he no longer has full stock firmware? He had TWRP custom recovery!
Yeah, he messed up the phone.
Just to be clear WTF instructions -- that had nothing to do with his actions.
By this point he had successfully completed all those instructions and had flashed back to VS996 firmware.
The WTF Instructions tell you how to update your phone correctly once TWRP custom recovery is installed.
____
Try Master Reset from Frankenstein instructions.
Then if you can get back into Download mode, flash back to Nougat US998 via Partition DL, all partitions.
Master Reset again.
Then Refurbish to US998 Oreo 20h.
Your bootloader will still be unlocked.
Go through WTF INSTRUCTIONS SECTION 6 and re-install TWRP and the three root files again.

Thanks ChazzMatt, however I've tried the Master Reset and it doesn't seem to be doing anything to the phone. It presents the message about Delete all user data (including LG and carrier apps) and reset all settings. I select "Yes" screen goes black for about 2 to 3 seconds then I get the same message, Delete all user data (including LG and carrier apps) and reset all settings with Yes already selected. I've selected that or left it alone and the results are the same. Screen flashes LG V30 ThinQ up for a sec then the screen goes black for about 3 seconds then shows the LG V30 ThinQ again before going back to the Verizon logo screen.
Just to confirm: holding vol+ with USB plugged in during a reboot doesn't go to download mode for using LGUP. Also holding vol- with USB plugged in during a reboot doesn't go to fastboot mode for using ADB since you... Sorry, your friend, was running VS996 firmware, correct?
Correct, if I hold Vol+ and plug usb in I get download mode for maybe 2 secs but LGUP and computer doesn't recognize the phone then it begins to boot up the phone. I have the LG Mobile USB drivers installed as well. Vol- doesn't do anything. Yeah I don't know what my friend did but it doesn't seem to be good. I'm not even sure what ROM or version of ROM it has on it because he doesn't remember. All it does currently if I power it on is it sets at the Verizon traveling dots screen.

Find someone with an octoplus box and use 9008 mode to flash a kdz. I think thats your only option unless your friend can return it or warranty it through Verizon.
Then, dont ever ever take an OTA on a modded phone again.

Stuck in edl mode

HI!
I playing with different firmwares on ulocked LG v60 At&T. After I erased FTM, OP_A OP_B, MODEM_A MODEM_B, SID_A SID_B I try to put phone in download mode but phone back to edl mode.

It looks like this was what he was trying to do...was trying to get a remote sim unlock...
He was doing at least steps 1-4 on that list but kept getting some Sahara error and wanted me to go back to download mode again which is when it ended up stuck in edl and only connects via qfil.
Mine is a t mobile variant but it looks like the same steps just different file to flash.

Yes it's the same steps.Try this and it should get you to download mode and do a refurb. with a T-Mobile kdz. and LGUP.Get the device in edl mode.Open Qfil, and choose flat build etc.Load the firehose, and then choose partition manager.Erase, not delete or remove these 4 partions. After you erase these, load these 4 back in the respectful partition places. This will be boot_a,boot_b,recovery_a,and recovery_b.Then restart the device. This should get you back to a working download mode so you can flash a working kdz image back to the device with LGUP.

That would be amazing. The unlock company (unlockboot.com) has been pretty quick to reply and wants to at least put it back to stock even if they can't sim unlock it for me but the biggest downfall now is opening up the back of a water resistant phone that's never been apart just to disconnect the battery.
It would likely take months to drain the battery from 100% to get it out of EDL mode.

This sounds like a very easy fix. You can exit edl by button combination too, you hold vol- and pwr till your fingers hurt. No joke, it will get you out of there, although if it takes that long then it will probably just re-enter edl because it's bricked.

Just write those 4 files in the zip I uploaded with qfil, and then kick it out of edl mode.Leave the usb cable hooked to it and hold volume down and power until you hear it lose connection with your laptop/desktop.As soon as it does, release and hold volume up.It should boot in to bootloader mode and then write the kdz of your choice with LGUP.
