Best battery optimized rom? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

Hello, so far i have tried pixel experience rom and despite battery last is not bad i feel miui made a great job allowing to restrict app energy almost completely with greats battery times. What is your opinion in choosing a rom mainly based on battery time?

PE is the best. Stay on PE

PE is worst ...miui rocks

I think that its's not the rom, it's the kernel. And the daily usage.
And the amount of background-activity apps.
The roms differences are in the level of customization and how frequently they are updated.
Mine for example is AOSiP. But PE and Syberia Project are good too... Also Havoc and Arrow... There are many...

I've tried a few myself, but I keep coming back to RR. It has very decent battery consumption out the box and has an array of tweaks to improve things.
With moderate usage I get a little more than 3 days out of a charge.

Absolutely agree with him.
For me RR is best. Had been using this Rom for years on many phones in my family.
Tested other roms in between but for me no Rom matched RR.

If you have rooted your phone, you can use greenify app. Its gonna hibernate your apps when not in use.
You are gonna have great battery time.

Thanks, trying RR today and I'll comment.

Yes me too using rr oreo best rom

After 24h of use of RR Pie coming from PE battery life is considerable better, I'll keep using it to confirm this with a same daily use, same apps as i was in PE

The ones that answered RR, are you using Oreo or Pie?

Pie
This is to summary my experience regarding battery comparing to a MIUI in a "office" use all in Pie:
1. Resurrection Remix
2. Pixel Experience
Currently triying AOSP

How was your journey? Did you find RR better than Pe? My battery is aging and just can't go over 4hs of sot in a day just needing good standby , currently naptime by franciscofranco gets the job done pretty well

Yes, the order of battery time is as follow without using battery saver which is good but background apps often get closed
1. RR 9
2. AOSEP 9
3. PE 9

Best rom & kernel

I need the best combo of rom and kernel ! recently got back into the android game after having an s3 and then switching to a 6s plus now I'm back, with the oneplus two
I need help on choosing the rom and kernel, would prefer for the rom to be stable and the kernel to give me great battery life
right now I'm on aospa 6.0.1 it's alright
I was so excited to get back into roms and android that I didn't even last 3 hours on oxygenOS
OOS3 is actually pretty decent. Especially if you get a ROM that is a modified version of OOS like Oxydium. Exodus is also another good choice for speed, battery, and reliability. So far though, in my experience, it's pretty hard to go wrong with any of the ROMs available for the OP2 though. CM based ROMs have seemed to not get quite as good battery as OOS based or Exodus for me, but they have more features of course. Good luck on your search!
Official cm13 with boeffla kernel is my default setup. But using aospa and resurrection remix (benschold kernel) once in a while )
Waiting to see more features in aospa

I think the best rom at the moment is Oxydium
Good battery, Android N-designed, great performance and no heating

The battery life is good, better than cm13, 4-5h sot
Now i'm using PA and it's more smooth than oxydium but camera is not as good as oxydium.
So far mm ROMs are still buggy and things are getting a lot better but the best ROM at least for me was VisionX but its a lollipop ROM
For me RR is still best in battery life

6h / 7h is achievable
Mostly i have 2 days of standby with 4,5 / 5h sot
Last couple of days I'm thinking about switching from OOS3 based back to CM13 or AOSP or PA. So I'm going through threads and I'm kinda shocked to see how most of them are now plagued by bugs which seem to have nothing to do with our devs, but it seems like they are getting that from sources, CyanogenMod mostly. Also, I don't remember any problems from couple of weeks (months?) ago! Like no notifications (dead silent phone), alert slider not working, echo in conversations, problems with camera, heavy on battery... before I had excellent battery life, notification and slider worked better than in OOS3, ROM was better with each version... any thoughts on that?

Can easily confirm, Resurrection Remix has given me much better battery life than OOS3 with my usage. Constant 5h SOT on LTE, 6+ on WiFi
CM13 Unofficial by Seraph08 + Boeffla Kernel works pretty well for me. I get a Standby time of almost 30 hours and SOT of over 4 hours. I used to barely manage 3 hours SOT earlier with OOS3.

I have been wondering the exact same thing.. I flashed PA June and it's been o.k. but has some issue with speaker / mic that weren't present in other MM rom's I've tried..
I went to Exodus. Feels great, works great, but with Trebuchet launcher as AOSP is very limited. I could recommend it easily

Try Citrus Rom it's really smooth and awesome battery backup too even with stock kernel.
And if you want customizations then Flash DU or RR unofficial.
Hit thanks if i helped. :good:
MoKee works perfectly for me, supports Extended desktop and has root enabled by default.
I want a rom with beautiful UI , good battery life not like the miui 8.. which sucks... I could install a launcher but it consumes a lot of battery ..

its been asked over and over again...and there's only one correct ans...ITS YOU PREFERENCE
heavy customization = aex, rr viper etc
minimal = los slim etc
try and find the one you like it dosent cost money just some time
and better advice is to just wait for a while (If you want fp) for good stable oreo roms
i think tht should suffice

Hi @Gyovany96 If you want a skinny ROM, then Slim it must be. If you are interested in MIUI, then perhaps MultiPro. I tried it for a while, and it was reasonably good.
Slim is updated weekly, meaning that you will always have the latest Android security patch - and it already has a patch for KRACK (which for me, is absolutely crucial). When will MIUI have a patch for KRACK? Answers on a postcard ...

1. I thought we were discussing Slim?
2. Is 65% battery usage in nearly 12 hours of SOT good? (ie, about 5.41% per hour of SOT). I haven't come across a better one. The second image shows over 17 hours battery life (screen on and benchmarks running non-stop). Both are fairly consistent (about 17 hours SOT overall).
---------- Post added at 11:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:21 PM ----------
By the way, the first screenshot is from GSam Battery Monitor Pro, and the second one is from PCMark Work 2.0 battery life.

Indeed. But note that this relates to continuous (non-stop) SOT. If using the phone over several days, the SOT will be much lower. But the difference between this device and our old RN2 is almost unbelievable. By the way, even MIUI's SOT is pretty awesome, compared to the RN2.
PS: have a look at PC Mark works 2.0 battery benchmarks (the app itself will show show its results for a ton of other devices) - this device beats virtually every other device on the planet.
It is lineage OS 15.1 unofficial will be the best one for longest battery life..... Even better than slim Rom

Yeah this rom is good. I flashed it before sometime after Flashing DirtyUnicorns, CardinalAOSP. I've used almost all the roms on XDA. FRANKENROM is good. The new pixel animations and smart pixels are great!
Although the crDroid Unofficial by difr is the best custom rom I've used.

And yes. Tez works on this ROM which won't on DU, CardinalAOSP, and Pixel rom.

What about remaining payment apps such as YONO by SBI, SBI Online ...... etc
Mostly Banking and Non- banking payment apps( Tez, phonepay... etc)
And Online booking apps such as IRCTC...
Mainly this kind of apps require more stability and Secured ROMs ....??
Can you clarify working of those apps...??
In my opinion you should look at sources used and developer more than the ROM names.
From my experience I would rank the roms like these:
1. Woivod AEX (fastest, stable, works perfectly)
2. Difr CrDroid (fast, stable)
3. Nichcream source based roms
4. Team Reloaded roms
what about woivod AEX vs woivod Liquid Remix?
I am using crdroid by difr and get massive battery drains while at standby, performance drop while charging, and random phone freezing. I asked around and as there are so many roms, it's impossible to try them all and compare especially for someone like me who seek for stability.
And btw any other suggestions are welcome.
Did anyone tried Liquid Remix. The only OS with good battery backup and without any Bugs.

I flashed it yesterday. It seems good. One thing I noticed is that the charging speed is not as good as crdroid by difr, it is not very low for me it gets like 1200-1300 mA instead of 1700-1800 mA. But as a plus it doesn't get nearly as hot

A case of being overwhelmed by choice (ROMs, Kernels, and more)

Hi guys,
I'm a new Poco user. I've checked out the forums and saw lots of ROMs, Kernels and even Recovery software. I'm a bit overwhelmed for the first time as I'm liking stock MIUI 10 for now. Can someone enlighten me on which ROM has the most features, what ROM is the most stable, which kernels go best with which?
Stability: BaikalOS, Pixel Experience
Powersave: BaikalOS
Customizability / Extra Features: Resurrection Remix, crDroid, Havoc-OS / POSP
Performance: Nitrogen OS, crDroid
Pixel Like: Havoc-OS, Pixel Experience
These are the ones I know but haven't tested all of them. Tell me if I'm missing any.

It doesn't have the app cloning and battery life is a lot better if you manage the background apps strictly but you still have to install it and test it yourself.

There is no best rom or best kernel, it all comes down to personal preference...
Lineage Pie with Franco kernel.
..and go with pixel experience only if u r into very stock version which I think is overrated given its customization limitations.
I have always hated chinese ROMs or apps, take MIUI for example they have like hundreds of apps injected into core system (miui security, miui contacts, miui dialer, miui messaging, miui this that and what not...)

Hi fellow Flip! Yeah I went with Ambasidii rom based on stock MIUI since I need the cloned app feature for ROM (Slave priest). It's rooted and has derp kernel. Battery life is quite a lot better. I was redownloading all my apps overnight and it only drained about 7% of battery life which is 1% more than full stock on idle without WiFi.
By the way, do you do a battery recalibration once you switch roms? Standby time is fantastic on mine but it seems to drain a little harder while playing ROM compared to stock.

There's no need to recalibrated when switching roms. Recommended calibrating your battery ( each month or every three months )
android phones this days use lithium-ion (Li-ion) or lithium-polymer (Li-po) batteries for Poco F1 . This batteries don’t need to be fully discharged, and come with smart chips that make calibration unnecessary and that's the good thing for us.
Just want to share this method , i do this all the time after switching custom roms.
First, drain your phone’s battery completely. Don’t charge it at any point while it’s draining. Let the phone keep working till it shuts itself off. Once the phone has shut itself off, restart it so it shuts off again. Even though the battery was at 0 percent, it has a few reserves left. Now, while the phone is off, charge it to 100 percent. It’s safe to use quick chargers for this, but make sure you hit 100 percent. Once it’s fully charged, unplug it and boot your phone. Android might not say it’s at 100 percent, and that’s okay. In that case, plug the charger again and let it get to 100 percent. then unplug it. This cycle of full drain and recharging lets the chip calibrate its readings with the battery’s charge cycle.
hope that helps:good:

I'll Suggest that you can go for Pixel Experience For Poco F1 and check the review of rom on YouTube, it's the most stable and most preferred rom for daily USAGE. Its ok to hate MIUI as its heavily skinned that's not good for those who prefer stock.
I suggest baikal os. One of the most stable rom.Great battery life and great performance. Give it a try

Have you used crDroid? I am tempted to switch over to pixel experience as I dont really use any of the extra customisations that come with crDroid. I was on LineageOS, but only switched to crDroid as the signal quality wasnt great on Lineage, and crDroid had the signal fix on it. Im guessing PE has the signal fix applied?
I am similar like you, i dont like miui, and i want fully stable rom with minimum custmization, can we make group on telegram? People like us who want to stay close to aosp, and stability
Msg me on telegram https://t.me/MrNohara
Im looking to flash reloaded caf, as its close to aosp, and dev assured that he wont add any more features

Oxygen OS
@falconhossam1, I tested few roms on poco board. And in my opinion AOSiP is the king at this moment (at least for me of course) you can try it. Derp Kernel and theme Black AF out of the box is great
Someone please tell me off for asking this in the wrong place !! I have a similar question as I also want to change from Miui (10.1.0.3 PEJMIFI) and everything I have read seems to suggest the new PE rom is very stable and I would certainly switch. BUT... my question is.... is there a guide on how to flash the PE rom from a clean factory Miui rom, and how to return to the same factory state including OTA if after some time I decide to. Thanks for all responses.
crDroid if you want a bunch of features on a stable rom. Havoc-OS is my next favorite, but it doesn't get updates as often.

Fair enough, I'll stick with it then It has been solid since I made the switch, only the first build I tried had some issues with the notch and notifications icons, and they got fixed on the next one.
Has any1 tried RRemix? I remember it to be a beast for gaming on my previous devices. Is it still the same on the poco?

Sorry Never Tried crdroid but Instead Of flashing Pixel Experience I checked many reviews of youtube and all suggested That nitrogen OS is as stable as Pixel rom with Many features so I installed NITROGEN OS and Man I just didn't faced any mic issue or net speed reduction its Just Fantastically buttery smooth and perfect. I love it.

Believe me, These 2 roms(Pixel Experience & Nitrogen OS) are most stable as far as I saw many many youtube reviews. Just before Flashing the pixel rom I thought I will face lack of Thermal battery saving mode that extremely saves battery SO I checked many reviews for Nitrogen OS and I flashed it, Man its damn stable not a single issue for me I rooted with magisk and All banking apps are working. Too. And PUBG works awesome as it would in my MIUI. So go for Nitrogen If you want stability + feature and go for Pixel experience for Pure Stable Pixel Experience with lack of advance features.
hey guys..
this is Anil.
i have tried almost every ROM available for our poco device.
but i found out they all have some kind of issues associated with them like, overheating, lags a lot while playing pubg, network issue, internal audio in gameplay is not available, even i have tried xiaomi.eu rom but still got the same problem as it also overheats a lot.
so finally i installed the official global stable ROM, and now i have everything i needed with the phone. best gameplay experience with awesome battery backup (9+ hours of SOT on normal usage).
so if anyone wants to install custom rom just for the gaming and battery backup so i would suggest you to stick with the global stable rom (10.3.4. update is beast).
Thank You.

no i am not rooted yet, and yes i don't any touch issue with this new update.
but yes sometimes while playing pubg my trigger seems to be stuck and i continuously shooting than i have to touch the trigger again to stop it.
what could it be?
Aside from the rom, can you guys suggest a good kernel with great battery life? I'm not quite satisfied with the built in kernel with NOS.
Stock MIUI is the most stable ROM and always will be.
Second most stable would be the custom MIUI mods (Mi-Room, Xiaomi.eu, etc) with varying degrees.
Third most stable is probably some GSI.
Least stable is basically every other custom ROM. Their kernels seem to be based on newer CAF/Linux tags and the devs seem to have reverted Xiaomi-specific fixes and optimizations.
Custom ROM's aren't ready for daily use yet, IMO. Depends what you use your phone for, though.
