Can't wait
If a STABLE TWRP is available, you can flash GSIs and thus have access to a plethora of custom roms. For now. We need to wait and hope that someday, we will be able to modify the recovery partition and make TWRP boot. Patience.

Devs are trying to bring it, so keep an eye on development section, there are no guarantees that it will come soon or ever, so stay patient.

well, honor 5x is not redmi note 3..
redmi note 3 has good developers (kernel developers), in our community, devs are still learning, there are skilled developers like baddaemon and crpalmer who are busy in maintaining lineage 14.1 and there is another dev, yuweng , he has to make a comeback.. devs got some personal life too.. we gotta respect it and accept what we have right now and we have to be thankfull for them
I'm still trying to find a way to add support.

i believe its true, XDA posted a thing recently about it, might see some completely custom oreo ROMs, not just ones that are re-flashed over system!

Do not flash this rom or any rom unless it specifically says its for X722. If your device gets bricked there is no Qfil files to fix it. At least none that have been released.
The thing about Miui that makes it good ( in my opinion) is the aesthetics.
You can achieve beautiful aesthetics with any Oreo rom and a good substratum theme. Try AEX, its comes with substratum built in, along with excellent theming.
If its Miui apps that you are after. Create a miui account and you will find many ported apps in their various forums.

@Rondeau79 does this ROM force encryption with the default kernel? I want to stay decrypted as it speeds up my phone immensely.

No it does not. I always flash my builds to make sure they work before releasing them publicly.
So far so good, the only thing I cannot find is Wifi Calling. Being on Google Fi, it is a feature I rely on. When on stock, all I had to do was install Google Hangouts and the Wifi Calling option would appear in the Phone settings. However, that does not happen in this ROM. Any ideas on if Wifi calling is implemented here?

That ROM is in testing phase right now. Any questions about that need to be done in private message. That conversation does not belong on this thread.
The ROM is updated till November 2018 security patch which is nice but it has ads baked into it. I had to uninstall as they become very intrusive and plagued such a beautiful ROM.

Adware is a part of the internet world. That ROM is not plagued with issues. I will never release a build that isn't up to user quality.

Exactly, I don't know why users think a ROM would come with ads. Not that its impossible. A shady person could definitely pre-load adware or malware but with the number of downloads these ROMs get here, we would know about it instantly. Good job on the ROM bud. Appreciate your time & efforts. I just noticed posts saying there were ads in the ROM when i know better & thought users would be afraid to flash. No reason not to flash this ROM guys go for it!

Thanks! I am not a developer, but more a builder! At one point in time I was just a user level member. One reason I will never go IOS not open source. I am an Android fanatic! I just do this for fun!
Now that Kernel source has been released by the manufacturer.
Here's hoping Lineage/ArrowOS/CrDroid/Havoc/AOSP is released for this brilliant value-for-money device!
Those ROMs doesn't require kernel source.
You can already run all those ROMs on OP Nord2 as GSI.

Is there another way to run ROMs then?
Is GSI some emulator style? Why do devs crib about Mediatek sources not being available? Is there another way of making ROMs in a native way? This is the first time I'm reading about something called as GSI ?!

Not at all, it runs natively just like stock rom.
The idea of a GSI is simply that we keep the drivers from stock ROM. They are working perfectly fine for stock ROM users, there is no reason those drivers wouldn't work fine for us.

Honestly? I'd say stubborness. Yes, we can use sources of more drivers on Qualcomm devices than on Mediatek devices, but to what end? Everytime needed sources of a driver on a Qualcomm platform, its sources were not available at all.
On Mediatek side, there is some source code available, but from shady origin, so they can be used to learn more about how Mediatek drivers work, but it can't be used to build drivers directly from sources. Again, we can just use stock ROM's drivers.

Yeah well GSI are severely underrated, because you can't make a news about a generic image working on a new device at every new device...
