Hi folks,
I followed this tutorial and managed to unlock bootloader and install TWRP.
But on startup, stock rom was asking to enter a code (30 try allowed in "secure startup") which I didn't set in the first place, each reboot costing two try.
So, with no way to use my phone with this OS, I got into TWRP and try Factory reset --> not working (TWRP cannot mount partition).
I tried "Wipe DATA" (not advanced) --> not working (back to "secure startup").
After each reboot booting to secure startup, TWRP was replace automaticaly with stock recovery and I had to reflash it.
Then, I made the mistake to wipe (advanced) system, cache, dalvik and data... realising afterwards that I had no custom rom zip to flash to replace stock rom...
Now I'm stuck with TWRP (seems to work...), a unlocked bootloader with annoying "unlocked" messages and... 2 KDZ firmware files (EU-SP and EU-GB) I don't know what to do with.
I also have a flashable image of the stock recovery, but don't know what to do when it's on.
Plz, someone could help ?
Any other option than to wait for LineageOS to support my phone ?

Ah, you have kdz file? You can search lg flash tool to flash that kdz
Or you can use recovery option in "LG Bridge", there's a recovery option somewhere on the botttom right of the software.

Hi again ! Thx for your answer.
I had try to use LGUP with EU-ES KDZ file and didn't work because of the "REFURBISH" setting checked.
FYI : Uppercut is awsome beacause it allows LGUP to recognize my phone on the go, but it triggered 2 of my antivirus... false positive, I hope !
I change to select "UPGRADE" and it did work and this time tried the EU-GB KDZ.
Android is starting... and I'm relieved. I'll post an update for success or if anthing occurs.
Thx once more.
So, it's confirmed : it worked.
Back to stock ROM. I'll try to reinstall TWRP and to Root later.
Hope my adventure iwll help someone else.
I went through the same torture in my quest, but I did not tell you guys about it in my instructions in the thread you referred to. If I had done so, I would have likely confused and scared off many of the first-timers. What you need is to follow to the point my instructions, than nothing bad will happen. Nevertheless if you fall again into that same horrible state, you just do LDUP upgrade and start a new.

I'm not yet allowed to post in the dev section, because I'm new to this forum but I think this tutorial, despite being real handy and precise, lacks of three informations :
a warning and explanations on the "30 try secure start problem"
juste a little more details on the LGUP part : just add to set the type of flash to "upgrade"
warn people about waiting for a complete boot, even for fastboot and recovery : I come from Samsung and there was no messages on startup nor needed to wait that long before accessing to fastboot or recovery. I believed a few times that it hadn't worked just because it didn't boot straight to recovery.
My main concern was about that goddam code code coming out from nowhere, 30 try before what? If anyone now more, I think I would not be the only one to be glad to know...
Last request : plz give me some "thx points" so that I could join you guys in the dev part... I'm no beginner to those things ?

Back to Stock with @raystef66's Files
This guide used a method stemmed from paranoia. Now that we have decent flashable files everything is much simpler!
We'll be using raystef66's flashable TWRP files to go completely back to stock. At the end there's instructions if you want to lock your bootloader.
Be sure that you are on the latest TWRP version!
1) Files to Download:
- TWRP Flashable Bootstack/Stocksystem Image from here: Download Center. Download the latest BOOTSTACK and STOCKSYSTEM from there.
- If you want to lock the bootloader, also download the STOCK RECOVERY zip from the same stocksystem version that you downloaded. The flashable stock recovery zips are on the Factory Images Division, right above the TWRP flashable files.
- Magisk 15.2 (or latest), or SuperSU 2.79 (Latest not recommended ). If you will relock the bootloader, skip this part.
2) Installation
- Put all the files on the internal storage or SD card. Backup your important stuff from the internal storage, because you might need to format it!
- Go to TWRP. Wipe data, system and cache (don't format data though).
- Install the bootstack that you downloaded. Then install the stock system.
- If you will NOT relock the bootloader, install Magisk or SuperSU
- Reboot
If the phone asks for a password when it gets to the system, go to TWRP. It will ask for a password, just select Cancel. After you're on the main TWRP screen, select Wipe, then Format data, then type yes. After that, reboot.
3) 5 second screen removal / restore Fastboot
This is useful whether you're relocking the bootloader or not. Just go to raystef66's guide and follow it completely. After doing it your phone will have Fastboot (very good for softbricks and relocking), no 5 seconds screen (your phone will boot up faster) and it will be even closer to full stock.
4) ONLY FOR RELOCKING - Replace TWRP with Stock Recovery
Simply go to TWRP and flash the stock recovery file you downloaded. After that, enable OEM unlocking and USB debugging from the dev options, and then go to Fastboot and issue "fastboot oem lock".
@Choose an username... thanks for the credits.
you can return to stock in that way. you can reflash twrp with tool, allways checking bootloader still unlocked.
I allway update in this way, reboot to twrp, flash the recovery image, not a zip, its the same, but I make sure that the recovery correspond to the base version in my phone. after that, I reboot to system directly, update in the ota way, or the zip way, but from running android, rooted or not, and I dont have to wipe.
After update is done, the most important thing is leave the phone till it is completly booted, then you can reflash twrp with axon7tool again.
You dont need to root, you dont need anything to keep twrp. You only need to flash supersu or magisk if you use darkenfx zips. And if you do it, you have to backup wipe and restore cause you lose encryptation.
But thats all. I think stock rom its still the best, not in battery life, but in camera and bundled apps, It works perfectly, except, I have 2 bugs since allways, wake up with proximity sensor covered, and whatsapp online with app in background, I can live with that
I can re-lock bootloader after this process?
thanks for the guide.
Help Needed ! A2017g Bricked while trying to returning to stock
Hi, Please help me to get my Axon 7 in a working state. I was using Xenon HD Rom for A2017g Oreo. With twrp version as suggested in the guide.
I followed the procedure, installed the bootstack and then stock system B09
But when I tried to reboot, it said no OS Installed. Then I rebooted, and it was stuck at bootloader with no twrp and just the message as follows :
Android Recovery : ZTE/P996A04_N/ailsa_ii
7.1.1/NMF26V/20171120.101942
user/release-keys
Use volume up/down and power
and then certain other options in blue
Please help !
I also have a Problem.
I tried going back to stock from LOS 14.1. Now I am stuck on the 5 seconds screen, it won't continue.
The files I used were the Nougat B10 Files :-/

Enter the recovery, it should be the stock one (turn the phone off, then hold vol+ and power). Then download a stock B10 file (not the twrp flashable one) and install it from an SD card
No its not the stock one, its still TWRP.
I only flashed Bootstack and stock system (step 2). The reboot afterwards doesnt work
What do you mean by "a stock B10 file"? There are so many files types :-/
I am not quite sure what I should do now, do I have to do the EDL route? That one sounds confusing as well.
EDIT: I tried using B08 Files and now the reboot prompt in TWRP tells me there is no os installed.
Will I, like naveen09y, end up without TWRP if I reboot now?

Probably, so just don't. You should just wipe system and data, flash the bootstack, then the system. Also follow raystef's guide to "remove bootloader unlocked inscription"
I now managed to get the phone working with EDL flash of MM B10.
But I cant relock the bootloader :-/
Bascially my bootloader is gone so I cant reboot to it and do "fastboot oem lock".
Why is this such a hassle

You didn't follow my instructions. Follow raystef's removed unlocked bootloader inscription and you'll get fastboot back. You can do that with the phone on.
Don't relock it unless it's really necessary (i.e. warranty). If you're gonna sell it just follow that guide and don't relock, the 5 seconds screen will disappear and it'll look like it's locked
I cant follow the guide because I can't access the bootloader...
Also the TWRP files in https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/guide-install-twrp-unlock-bl-flash-t3517379 this guide (step 6) are no longer accessible.

What? Lol
First of all - you are basically installing the bootloader with raystef's guide, so I have no idea why you want to enter it...
You have to enter TWRP and follow the guide from there.
The guide from Controllerboy is basically the same guide but it also has instructions on other things (i.e. unlock etc.). I don't know what you are trying to accomplish with it. Use EDL Tool by djkuz if you want to install TWRP (it is explained there how to do that).
Phone was rooted with Magisk 16, I was on AEX Android 8.1 ROM. I'm trying to return to stock and relock bootloader.
I wiped everything, I flashed A2017G-N-B10-bootstack and A2017G-N-B10-stocksystem from "TWRP flashable Bootstack/Stocksystem Images" section. Booted to system and now phone is stuck on the ZTE POWERED BY android boot screen. 5 minutes there. Is it normal?
Edit: Got tired of waiting and kept pressing the power button. After doing so, the phone reboots but same thing. And I can't access TWRP with VOL INCREASE + POWER BUTTON.... VOL DECREASE + POWER BUTTON takes me to Factory Test Mode.

The best way to return to stock is via EDL, for example MiFlash or EDL tool. If you have an U, then DrakenFX's zips can do that, it happened to me already. Usually G zips like raystef's work just fine.
Try using Magisk instead of SuperSU, just in case. Use 16.7

I do however feel that there are to many versions of the Axon 7 packages and I can see why people are ending up with boot issues etc.

what
you do realize this guide is older than a year right?
Yeah, its all good
There were a series of events and mistakes that I made and now I have a PocoBrick:
I was going to move from the unofficial LOS to the official version that just rolled out. So I downloaded Lineage file, backed up my phone like a goodie two shoes, wiped and attempted to install.
Then the TWRP gave me an "error7".
Ok, I thought, lets go back and see what went wrong. I attempted a reboot but the phone goes straight to FASTBOOT, still goes to TWRP when pressing Volume up+pwr.
Did a restore and still - straight to FASTBOOT.
I messed with it for a while and then made a grave mistake.. I found a website claiming to teach how to install the official TWRP on pocof1 and I downloaded the Img file and attempted to flash it through TWRP - and now the phone goes right into FASTBOOT without being able to go to TWRP by pressing the Vol. and pwr.
Only Then I noticed that the name of the linked file was "twrp-3.2.3.0.-dipper.img".
Now the phone is in FASTBOOT, I adb doesn't work, when I try to "fastboot flash" I get an "unknown partition" response.

use MiTool to flash full factory firmware
Did you manage to bring your phone back to life with MiFlash?

I'll add, even if you have already solved your problem, that there are fastboot roms here on XDA (official ROM, with Rom, firmware, and recovery) from which you can then start over.
You can install those as you would TWRP, directly from Fastboot mode via a computer (or other phone, there's a Magisk module that enables adb & fastboot - from phone to phone. Amazing)
Hey there,
it seems like it's a very bad day for me. After some problems with my psyche, which is nothing new, i decided to flash a new ROM. This is what always makes me happy, try out new features and just messing arround with the system. Turns out, today i messed to much but i think it shouldn't... Here's what i did and happend (coming from RR 7.0):
-downloaded Superior OS from https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/development/post-t3909765
-downloaded the GAPPS package (first time with AROMA)
-moved both files to the SD-Card
-backed up my data, wiped system, dalvik, cache, data, internal storage
-installed the Superior OS zip
-installed the GAPPS zip
This is where it all got messy. The zip didn't finished, it stopped after 2 seconds and the H930 rebooted directly to recovery. There was no screen with the LG standard boot screen, it went straight to recovery. I rewiped everything and i got an error message which said: can't wipe data partition because device or resource is busy. I tried to repair it via wipe > advanced > selecting data > change or repair filesystem and tried to resize, repair and change file system. it always returns the error that it can't mount the partition. After the script, TWRP returns script succeeded, but fails to mount /data.
If i try to install RR 7.0, the script returns E3004: This package is for device : v30,joan,h930; this device is .
After all, i can't restore the backup i had from AOSP extended. I tried to flash the following two files TWRP-JOAN_H930_OPEN_EU-21w.zip and H93020R(TWRP).zip which started with the error E: Legacy property environment did not initialize succesfully. Properties may not be detected.
TWRP Version: 3.2.3-7
I would appreciate any help on this topic, even if i'm one of the xda profits who don't really gives a thank to the threads an just tries out until my devices work as i want them to do (i'm just honest). It's not because i don't appreciate the work of the dev's, they do really nice work which deffinetly is too much for myself to do. I'm just a messy person when it comes to interpersonal relationships. I'm sorry for my kind of awkward english, that's how i am...
I don't have a lot of knowledge about programming itself but i know how to use adb and fastboot, since i had some issues with my HTC one M7 on which i wasn't able to restore the IMEI due to too much messing arround. I think i started a thread about it, but i got it replaced even with a custom rom installed for free which will be my driver for the next couple days.
Kind regards
mrstupidus

Thanks for the reply,
i would if I could access download mode (forgot to mention it), seems like i'm not able to since the device only boots to recovery, the LG V30 bootscreen never shows up.
It seems like my device data is corrupted or lost, since different scripts in TWRP report that I have no device number. Also if I shut down the device trough TWRP, it boots to TWRP again and makes no attempt to shut down. I haven't tried to access download mode, I had to go to bed for work today. I still have to go tomorrow but one night without sleep will be worth it.
As far as I remember I have a backup of my EFS lying around, I will try to flash it this evening. I'll keep you guys updated if I find a way to get my v30 working, since it could help others too.

Have you tried going into download mode manually with the hardware buttons?
Press and hold the Volume Up key on your LG V30.
While still holding this button connect your phone to the USB cord on your computer.
The download mode should now be displayed on your device.
You can release the Volume Up key and resume the update / downgrade operation.

You are going to have to have to flash boot and system via fastboot:
* Download the ROM you want to flash and extract it. It will have boot.img or boot.image ... boot.something (depends on the ROM), and system.SOMETHING.
* Open an elevated command prompt in the directory you extracted the ROM in.
* From TWRP choose reboot / bootloader. If it wants to be a PITA and reboot back to TWRP, then you will have to wait till the phone dies and then use the vol down + plug in the USB cable method
* In the command prompt type:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot boot boot.img
Obviously replace boot.img and system.img with the names of the boot and system files.
To solve your /data issue (and you might want to do this first actually):
While in TWRP
Code:
adb shell
umount /data
umount /sdcard
mkfs.ext2 /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/userdata
Repeat those two umount, and that is umount NOT unmount, until you get an error. If it isn't unmounted, when you try to format it, mkfs.ext2 will throw an error.

Thanks a lot too for you're effort's, this really helped me out in a unecpected way
So here's what the issue was: a corrupted Gapps package. It failed to install and was still active in the recovery while the recovery "rebooted" (it just flashed off and started again with no normal boot between, kind of awkward to explain). The Phone itself never really rebooted into recovery, i have no idea how that happened. The /data partition was still in use from the Gapps script, but the script wasn't visible anymore and i was able to use the recovery as normal. So i ended up with an error everytime i tried to install a zip, restore a backup or wiping the /data partition.
Something i forgot yesterday in the spiral my mind was, forcing the phone to shut down via holding the power and volume down button. I then booted to recovery and i was able to wipe the /data partition. I then tried to install RR and the script suceeded with no error, then the Gapps package with AROMA and i was at the same point as yesterday. So forcing the phone to shut down and back to installing RR now without Gapps. I'm now going to install a .KDZ to start from the original firmware, so i can update the whole firmware and then moving on to unlock the bootloader and install TWRP and a rom with the working Gapps package i have
Thank's a lot for the help
Regards Simon
PS: I hope i will be more focused the next time i encounter issues with my phone and myself, this thread probably put's me in the place i deserve :silly:
That's crazy, I made the exact same mistake you did just now and I was just about stumped on what to do.

It'd be better if you provided the roms and versions you were using.
In between tho, try flashing the last US998 rom you used again but in refurbish mode instead of DL. I had an almost similar bootlooping issue last night and 2nd refurb flash got it to stop.

Why would you try to convert LS998 to H930? North America variant should only be cross flashed to other North America variants, when using LGUP. Through LGUP, you can't completely Frankenstein a North American phone to a non-North American phone and at the worst you will have a brick.
You need to read the Frankenstein instructions on how to convert LS998 to US998. You either didn't flash US998 Nougat first or you didn't do the Master Reset step in between Nougat and Oreo:

1) Go into download mode (power off completely, then hold volume up button while plugging in USB cable)
2) THEN open patched LGUP and flash NOUGAT US998 to DL PARTITION. In the pop up box "Select All". Use the attached patched LGUP in this post.
3) Master Reset (post 101)
4) Flash Oreo US998 in LGUP UPGRADE MODE. (Make SURE you are choosing Oreo US998 and not accidentally re-flashing Nougat US998 again!)
(For bootloader unlock purposes, use the US998 KDZ versions with pre-July 2018 security patch: 20a or 20b. You can always update to newer US998 firmware later, AFTER bootloader is unlocked.)
5) DONE.
NOTE: For Canadian H933 to convert to US998, @cre4per says you have to use DL Partition for both stages (Nougat and Oreo KDZ)

Those instructions work for all North American variants -- except T-mobile H932 -- but were written specifically with screenshots while me personally doing Sprint LS998.

In between tho, try flashing the last US998 rom you used again but in refurbish mode instead of DL. I had an almost similar bootlooping issue last night and 2nd refurb flash got it to stop.

Refurbish has its uses. But to be honest I think you just didn't follow the Frankenstein directions. Master Reset stabilizes the bootlooping when flashing US998 Nougat before then flashing US998 Oreo. Has worked for everyone for over a year.
Unless the phone you got which you said was already Chinese Frankensteined was messed up due to whatever they did to it.

Honestly, i gots no idea how they did it and didn't really care at that point. Just needed to get the phone working again.
I actually did the master reset. Several times in fact. Never worked once. Longest it'd hold is for me to input wifi pw. It was the only other thing i could get to other than download mode.. I got the refurb step from either this or the WTF thread. Someone else had the same problem and refurb was their fix. Just so happens same for mine.. So, yeah..
I figured it out,but bricked that one lucky I have a spare and I didn't brick that one....but it wasn't de lg up our software. Through the process of reverting electricity went off in the process of flash and now is on black screen oh well
Is there a way to fix the bricked LG v30?

OxygenOS 11.3 A.15 EU Full Stock Firmware for OnePlus Nord 2Requirements :
ADB & Fastboot + Google & MTK drivers
Partitionsbackupper ( @Raygen )
A.15 Firmware ( @AssoDiPicche )
Instructions :
Download the .zip and the latest version of PartitionsBackupper.
Download A.15 Firmware, extract it and put all files in the PartitionsBackupper folder.
Reboot your phone in fastboot mode (Power off, than power button + volume down)
Run PartitionsBackupper.bat, choosing the restore option, to flash all partitions with fastboot.
I reccomend to do a full data format with the stock recovery before going back messing around. It usually wipes better than TWRP.
Type on command line "fastboot flashing lock"
Enjoy your brand new OPNord2.

Can i reflash stock oxygenOS rom and return completely stock without locking the bootloader? I flashed elixir, but the wifi doesn't work, so i would like to turn on stock, maybe doing root and installing magisk, viper ecc... Is there a complete oxygen that i can flash with maybe sideload on twrp or things like that?

If you use this, you must unlock bootloader and install twrp aftet that.
I did it, and the bat told me he flashed everything without problem, but then it rebooted me to twrp, and my bootloader is still unlocked, but most importantly, when i go "reboot system" it stays on oneplus logo and no os start... So I'm semi bricked now without OS, at least I have twrp to make some experiment... ideas? I retry the same thing?
Edit: the phone booted... with Elixir OS (?) so nothing changed, still my wifi and bluetooth don't work...

Try ask in "nord 2 community" telegram group. They are really helpful.
Try to press 1 botton. And use image of dn2103.zip
Don't try restore your backup file. Try restore file unzipped of a.15 firmware, and you return to stock and lock bootloader
Hi! I have a some problem! The first part of the firmware is fine, and after a reboot this happens
Same problem here.
Error with flashboot command.
Please put the "PartitionsBackup" folder with all the partition images in the same directory of this script.

I have tried this and it worked, partly. The process stopped on flashing vendor and nothing happened for hours. So I disconnected the phone and it boots fine. I can set up everything, but updates fails. It's now on A15 and will not update. I have also tried to lock the bootloader again, but then the phone won't boot at all, something about an error to boot/system. If I unlock the bootloader, it works again.
Something is clearly wrong here. How can I restore my device back to full working stock again?
I was on A17 before installing TWRP + PixelExperience Rom. But when I wanted to return to stock all hell broke loose

I've got the same error! Trying to restore my phone from a PixelExperience overheating and camera nightmare
Should I "Read Partitions" in mtkclient only the ones that are present in mtkclinet and not the A.15 firmware file?
Thanks a lot, this really saved me!
After flashing I got error: "The current image(boot/recovery have been destroyed and can not boot."
And here is how I got around that:
It was possible to boot into fastboot mode only after shutting down the phone first. (from recovery)
And then pressing the key combination while powering up.
Then I ran "fastboot flashing unlock" to get around that "error with fastboot command".
and then I flashed boot and vbmeta with the fastboot command. After that It finally booted.
Then I locked the bootloader and installed all the updates.
