Hello. So basically my friend has a xperia Z5 Compact phone and he wants to get magisk 19.1 on it. I am new to the phone and do not know how to root it etc. so I need help on getting TWRP and magisk on it. The bootloader is already unlocked because I tried to get TWRP on it but it ended in frozen boot screen. I have since flashed the phone and now need help to actually do something with it.
Have just replied to the same question of yours in the general section thread.

Can someone direct me to a step by step tutorial on how to root my Xperia X.
Thanks!
Just unlock the bootloader and flash a custom kernel. To unlock just use google and it will take you to sony's unlocking webpage with all the instructions you need, then use a kernel found in this very forum.

Did you find it? If yes, how did you root? Please I need help I am very confused..
Here you can find unofficial twrp for xperia x:
http://www.infectedbuilds.net/downloads/suzu/twrp/
Install with fastboot command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
After flashing this twrp you probably cant access data partion in twrp, to fix this boot into twrp(shut down device and turn it on again holding volume down), do a factory whipe and format data partition.
If you want to root flash latest SuperSU: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/stable-2016-09-01supersu-v2-78-release-t3452703
If you want a modded kernel with DM-verity, RIC off, DRM fix, SuperSU & Busybox download this tool and follow instructions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...oot-automatic-repack-stock-kernel-dm-t3301605
Doesn't unlocking the bootloader degrade the quality of the camera? I am sure it does but just wanted to be sure. If I do decide to unlock, how can I get similar camera functionality back? I may even simply leave it alone, I just want to get rid of the Facebook app. If there was a generic FTF I could download for the F5121, that might not have that app in it. I remember when I had an Xperia Z, I used a generic FTF and didn't have so much bloatware. I also did not have to unlock the bootloader. All it has to be is for the same phone really and it worked for me.
What works for me might not work for you so try at your own risk.

Official updates need the original recovery installed on the phone. ( If TWRP is installed it will fail with an error )
You also need a valid DRM (or a DRM fix) that the Sony update tool will notify you about new firmware updates.
That's what I can tell you from my experiences.
Backup your DRM partition if you decide to unlock your phone!
And don't try to relock the phone as the camera won't work on a locked phone without DRM key. (at least it was like this in my case)
I've updated to 311 using lubik1's rom image without any issues today. It has everything included. (root,drm,etc..)

Welcome.
What can I say.. My phone: LG G5 H850 International, Android 8.0 Oreo. I'm doing everything like it's written in tutorial. Bootloader is unlocked, I have no problems with flash recovery via fastboot. **** happens when I try to root my device with SuperSU. Process of install is going like it supposed but after reboot I don't see supersu app and when I verify root status - it says it's not rooted. I tried again and again and again for about sixteen times and after last try I saw one failure command line: patching sepolicy failure aborting. I rooted and mod couple of devices and never had something like this. I hope someone will help me because without root - phone is trash with many sick problems like afterimages on screen, no manual video mode and not good quality of photos etc. Greetings from Poland.
EDIT: Maybe I should try Magisk in this case?
Thread should be closed because yesterday I rooted my LG with Magisk without any problems. Recovery is working, root too.
Yeah!

Okay, what was your solution?
Hey, im getting this problem and don't know what to do, im on 10.3.12.0 PFQMIXM and using this stock room https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...-a3-magisk-t3958509/post81235879#post81235879 in which i used to recover my phone that was with a wrong stock room and wi-fi problems.
I'm actually trying to root again, i did already when it was in 10.3.8 but some magisk module bricked my phone and i updated to a version that didn't have a stock room for rooting aroud here, then i used a wrong stock room by mistake and then managed to put the correct one i pointed above, no problems on the phone so far except this update, i didn't root yet because i was getting the fastboot screen at the end instead of a rotted phone (in this tutorial https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a3/how-to/guide-how-to-root-mi-a3-magisk-t3958509) so i just got back to a stock room, also no magisk installed and already cleaned the phone, but i keep getting this error.
thanks in advance
So far my device is magisk rooted and unlocked, with a few run of the mill tweaks here and there. Is anyone aware of this device supporting custom recoveries after unlocking? I suspect TWRP might work with minimal modification if any, but I haven't yet tried to flash anything beyond magisk and figured I would ask for other people's experiences here before I attempt to do so.
Thanks!

Somebody help i also have a new phone samsung a11 and successfully rooted it with magisk unlocked bootloader and rom that i found on sammobile (same model same CSC) and i want to also know if its possible getting the TWRP on a magisk rooted device without having any trouble
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DydHY_Q_paR4QcLhhyE8ih3hYZpqK3RM/view?usp=drivesdk is the device tree with a bootctrl error right now I don't have time to keep working on it for a while but if we get it working we can build ROMs and twrp
Working TWRP but very unofficial! But very useful!
Hi, so I just got this phone and I see there's not much on the postings like with links to a working TWRP, in particular. So I did some digging around and experented, and found this TWRP. It's from the Moto G9 Play (guamp). But it works, at least...

See instructions by me to boot it from Android or use fastboot to boot it
Hello everyone,
I've bought Nord 2 5G EU at launch and wanted to root it but despite there being a ton of articles about it where was no boot.img to patch by Magisk so i let it go.
I finally decided to do it now but reading about all that vbmeta, no wi-fi and bluetooth problems, bricked phones etc makes me frustrated before I even begin anything.
Is there any comprehensive guide how to do it?
When I got the phone I managed to do some steps so as of now i have:
-Unlocked bootloader
-Magisk App v24.1
-OxygenOS DN2103_11_A.16
-no TWRP
What is my best course of acton to gain root?
I rooted all of my phones so far and have never been such confused like I am now.
There always were great threads on XDA with step by step instructions for rooting different phones, what happend?

I agree with everything you wrote here
If you have unlocked bootloader, flash TWRP and install magisk.
But atlest stock room doesnt like magisk at all. I had multiple random bootloops and only solution was to format data in TWRP. Yesterday I restarted devices and got random bootloop again.
I have 2103 as well and I tried 23, canary and now 24.1 and still got bootloop randomly. More people got problems too.
Can't say I recommend root device for daily driver. Thats why now I am trying AcicientOS with magisk 24.1
