LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7.1 (Nougat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS GitHub repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.
There are no new patches or fixes, you just get up to date and secure builds here.
You can also build it yourself, just follow this guide and add
Code:
<project name="TheMuppets/proprietary_vendor_samsung" path="vendor/samsung" remote="github" revision="cm-14.1" />
at the bottom of ~/android/lineage/.repo/local_manifests/roomservice.xml
before </manifest>
What's working:
Audio
Bootanimation
Brightness Level
Bluetooth
Camera (up to 4K) *needs to be improved
Microphone
Fingerprint reader
MTP
NFC
Wi-Fi
LED
RIL (calls, sms, microphone, data)

Capacitive buttons
Torch
Wi-Fi Hotspot
Installation instructions
Install TWRP
Download the latest LineageOS build
Optional: Download Google Apps
Boot into TWRP
Wipe data and cache
Flash the zip file(s)
Reboot
Magisk will work.
Xposed should work too, no guarantee.

Does the mic works with Whatsapp ? I am asking it because every other Lineage OS version / build didn't fix the problem. ( I am talking about the robotic/slowmo voice)

It probably isnt fixed because this is just builded from LineageOS repos and without any custom patches.

I am afraid but I am not a developer. I can cherry-pick a commit if you find a fix but I don't even know where to look to fix it.
I just provide up to date 14.1 builds. (Next one comes in ~30 minutes)
Thanks for your work! A build for S6 edge would be appreciated.
It would also be great if you could manage to update the patches for LineageOS 14.1 with microG for S6/edge as well.

I may build for s6 edge but I won't for microG. You can install microG on top of normal LineageOS without any hassle.
How about 15.1? Have you any plans for building? Maybe just monthly builds?

What's the proper method of upgrading the previous version?
Is it enough to wipe dalvik and cache, but not data and system? And after or before installing the zip? (or is this does not matter?)
TIA,
Zsolt

It doesnt matter (at least I never had issues). What I do is just dirty flash and after that clicking the wipe dalvik and cache button + reboot
Perflyst, I want to flash your ROM, but say, please, how are things with the camera? There is quality like in stock or poor? And what is with Google Camera app? Is it working properly?

The camera quality is poor compared against the rom shipped with the device by default. Google Camera is working.
BTW: New build later today!

A minor correction about Code: A quotation mark was forgotten after github.

FYI, I also built it myself to implement the November security update:
==> https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=302529&sort_by=date&sort_dir=DESC
Note this build is not signed and requires a clean flash if you come from a @Perflyst build.
Thx @Perflyst !

Would AldeLos kernel work with this ROM?

Supported Firmware:
Downloads:
wt88047: https://goo.gl/FNbbMP
wt86047: https://goo.gl/YHufVo
Note:
It is the firmware LineageOS supports and all users are expected to be on this very firmware. So it's mandatory that you flash this firmware via TWRP if you're newly installing Lineage.
You don't need to reflash this everytime you update you LineageOS build.
To add on:
There seems to be some confusion with this post in general. If you are coming from a stock MIUI Lollipop build, it is highly unlikely that you would need to update your firmware with the one above since Xiaomi hardly updates its firmware on older devices. Otherwise, if you are not sure what firmware you currently have, I urge you to flash the firmware linked above.
Why should I even flash this firmware?
The simple answer is that this firmware is known working with LineageOS builds and I am currently running it. Running other versions of the firmware (Like the Kitkat firmware) may warrant unheard of bugs and / or bugs that have been squashed long ago.
When should I flash this firmware?
This firmware should only be flashed once, anytime before the first boot into LineageOS.

Hi, nice job thank you!
Why flashing DFE is required? Am I not able to keep encryption with this ROM version? I am running v16 .0-20190808 without DFE.
Does Volte work fine without toggling?

Should be a comma after "no"? I known that december security patch is like Android 10.1 but still. Strange to change the name, since they didn't even officially released LOS17 on their blog

Sorry for my grammar derp. But yeah December patch was a pain in the ass. So, they decided to rename the version. And also there was many fwb and vendor changes. If this ROM uses los DT then that changes also counts.
I just installed lineage OS 17.1.

Thanks.
I have tested rom. It's working smooth. You really kept this tiny device alive so far!
This build is more smooth than lineage on some of the very recent devices.
About Banking apps - they won't work if a rom is signed using test keys. Thats why though unrooted lineage with gapps does not work with bank apps.
Thanks, @jeferson1979, for making this happen. Unfortunately, I just tested it, and the following bug still exists in 18.1: https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/2678
I'll try 19.0 soon.

How about security patches? It is a big part to update the images with the patches? Yesterday i read "

NOTE: NO LONGER MAINTAINED SINCE THE FOLKS OVER AT LineageOS HAVEN'T UPDATED THE 17.1 SOURCE FOR SECURITY PATCHES AFTER FEBRUARY 2023. I WAITED A MONTH JUST IN CASE THEY PUSHED UPDATES A BIT LATER THAN USUAL, BUT IT HASN'T BEEN UPDATED YET. CONSIDERING THIS VERSION OF ANDROID WILL SOON BE 3 YEARS OLD, THIS FEELS LIKE THE END OF THE ROAD FOR LINEAGEOS 17.1; IT'S BEEN A GOOD RUN. SO FOR NOW, THE FEB BUILD WILL BE THE LAST AND FINAL. IF THEY END UP UPDATING IT, I'LL BUILD AGAIN AND APPEND TO THIS THREAD. I'LL KEEP THE LATEST BUILD AVAILABLE AT THE DOWNLOAD LINK BELOW AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. FOR NOW THOUGH, THANKS FOR DOWNLOADING AND ENJOY USING YOUR PHONE WHILE IT LASTS.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10 (Q), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Base source code is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to the project, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.
GPL compliance:
Device tree source code: LineageOS/android_device_motorola_lux, LineageOS/android_device_motorola_msm8916-common
Kernel source code: LineageOS/android_kernel_motorola_msm8916
Vendor source code
These builds are and will be based on source code from althafvly's previous builds. Built from source since the original dev isn't working on the ROM anymore. New builds will be posted every month, please don't ask for ETA. Working stuff, compatibility and bugs have been pasted from previous builds because I haven't changed anything except for building with the latest patches. Builds are signed.
Working:
Camera (and flashlight)
WiFi
Battery LED
Bluetooth
Telephony (Calls and Data)
Audio (Record and Playback)
Video Playback
Sensors
GPS
VoLTE
HW crypto
Broken:
Nothing (?)
Compatibility:
Compatible with all Moto X Play variants. (XT1562,XT1563)
Downloads:
Download Latest Build
TWRP
[Optional] Download OpenGapps or MindtheGapps
Notes regarding Gapps:
If going with OpenGApps, try to stick to lighter packages (nano and pico are recommended; anything higher than that install heavier apps like Google Now and performance WILL BE degraded a lot). I have tested with mini package. Pick arm->10.0->package version.
MindtheGapps are recommended because it'll give you what you need while being lighter, though I haven't tested with it.
[Optional] Magisk
Notice:
No custom kernels are supported in this thread. Only stock kernel and official builds will be supported. No bug reports if that's not the case.
Installation:
Reboot to recovery
Format /system, /data and /cache
Install LineageOS zip package
Install [optional] a Google Apps package of your choice.
Install [optional] Magisk for root and modules.
Important notes:
* Required * Firmware version must be based on Nougat
GApps can only be flashed on clean installs.
Formatting data (all user data is wiped, including internal storage) is a must if Stockrom was previously installed and device was encrypted.

Hello.
I'm trying to install your build of LineageOS. When installed via TWRP (twrp-3.4.0-0-lux, twrp-3.7.0_9-0-lux) at 20% it displays an error of -7. What could be the reason for this? Phone XT1562 android 7.1.1 (dual sim). The latest official build lineage-17.1-20220214-nightly-lux-signed installs without issue. Can you give a working link to TWRP 3.3.1 lux? I want to try this version of the recovery, but I can not find it anywhere.
Found and installed TWRP 3.3.1 lux. But with him the exact same situation with an error. Screenshot is attached.
I got rid of the line starting with "assert" to the next semi-colon after unpacking the firmware image in the META-INF/com/google/android directory (file named "updater-script"), packed it back into the firmware and everything was flashed without errors. Testing...

Error 7 usually means recovery is too old/new or that zip is corrupted. Download latest TWRP from https://dl.twrp.me/lux/, redownload zip and flash.
A little late but a new build is up! Check OP for link.

Thx for the updates! Its works perfect!
Installed the latest build. Everything seems to be fine (except for the fact that my battery holds very badly and sometimes turns off intermittently), but it happens that, as I understand it, the video driver crashes, at a certain point in use the image disappears, and shows only a gray backlight, it is treated by pressing the power button and waiting seconds 20-30. But I don’t understand how to fix it, or I also have a problem with the screen in addition to the battery ...

is the earpiece sound leak issue fixed?
It doesn't always have to be LineageOS 19.1 or 20.0
@Borstelchen, I really appreciate your work, because LOS 18.1 only occupies 1.5 GB of memory on the G920F's 3 GB of RAM, whereas LOS 19.1 and 20.0 take up at least 2.4 GB.
Excellent and not common are your additional features: Signed builds and OTA updates.
Tip: If your ROM would support signature spoofing support in the future, it would be interssant for a larger fanbase. In any case, thanks - I'll stay tuned.
hi,
I always have sound problems with Samsung ROMs. I have an S5 and an S6.
The other person always hears echoes of themselves when I activate the speakerphone or directly the other person doesn't hear me.
The only ROM that does not cause me this problem is the original Lineage for S5 but there is no one for S6.
You do not happen to you?
What modem/botloader do you have installed for this phone?
What is the exact installation process?

Guys, I have logo loop on my Samsung galaxy s6 G920F when I tried to install lineage os 18.1. After installation its not booting up, still on lineage logo screen. Is there any boot.zip for this model. Thnxs simon
Using the ROM for a couple of days now:
+ Bluetooth audio is problematic. When I lock the phone while playing music, music distorts. This is the biggest problem in my opinion.
+ Instagram videos have bad quality.
+ In-calls, sometimes the other person can't hear my voice and sometimes I can't hear the other side.
+ Netflix doesn't work. I know this issue is common with LineageOs but Fakemanoan found a way around it to make it work 480p.
+ When you pull the notification bar and open the settings app it sometimes crashes.
+ System UI is working smooth good job.
+ When I plug the phone into the PC and select file transfer it reboots itself.
+ Sometimes the device tends to overheat, but this may be because it's summer too.
+ Bluetooth audio works well in calls, but when I use it on an app like Discord, the other person's voice comes from both bluetooth and call speakers. ıt happens with wired earphones too.
Anyway a good job overall. Thank you for all your efforts and patiently waiting for fixes and updates.
I have just flashed this rom and I am testing it, so far so good. Everything is working fine for the moment.
