smart lock trusted face not working - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi there, i have a redmi note 7 (global), running RR 7.0.2 on android 9. I have magisk installed and was playing around with it, adding modules that seemed interesting. Then i found this zip online for the smart lock trusted face feature so i installed it, thinking face unlocking is cool, since stock MIUI has it. After i installed it i searched around in settings to find smart lock but to no avail, so i dug up some more info and found out that smart lock had to be enabled under "trust agents". It showed up in security, but the trusted face feature keeps crashing right before the face capture screen. I've tried reflashing gapps using aroma package since i could choose what to install and that seemed cool. Didn't work, tried removing smart lock from trust agents, restarting, then enabling it again. Here's the crash report:

I fear that it may not work for my device specifically so if anyone knows if there are alternatives to trusted face please list them.
Thank you.
Edit: And I have the solution. It seems as though trusted face is not working with magisk root installed, strange. Just did a clean flash of RR 7.0.2 and gapps and trusted face worked. But just when I installed magisk it started crashing again. Any ideas?

[Xposed] Battery Shutdown Manager

Battery Shutdown Manager
Download @ Google Play

Do you know that moment when you're on 1% of battery and think "I'll just use my device 20 more seconds then I'll get my charger" - and at exactly that moment it'll switch to 0% and you'll see the threaded "Shutting down" dialog and know it's too late now?
This Xposed module will help by showing you a dialog with a countdown before the actual shutdown, so you'll have time to attach your charger.
The module achieves this by postponing the shutdown for a couple of seconds to give you time to connect the charger.
Please post any kind of feedback or ideas you have regarding this app :fingers-crossed:
I tested the module a lot but can't possibly test it for all those different phones and versions out there.
Thus I will flag it as beta for now so you can provide feedback before I'll release the 1.0 version.
It would be great if some more people could test it. I used the StabilityTest app to quickly drain my battery down to 0%.
Compatibility:
I wrote this module and tested it with AOSP devices as well as on Cyanogenmod.
It should work without any issues on all Nexus and Google Play Edition devices from Android 4.2 to 5.1+.
As almost all Custom ROMs are based on either AOSP or CM they should work without issues, too.
Some vendors might have changed the original code and thus render this module incompatible on their device. Nothing bad will happen when you install it, it just won't work.
Compatible:
Nexus / AOSP / GPE ROMs
Cyanogenmod
Almost all custom ROMs (as they're usually either based on AOSP or CM)
Sony Stock ROMs
Not compatible:
Currently not working for LG Stock ROMs due to internal code changes by LG.
Android devices <4.2. Support for Android 4.0.3+ and 4.1 might be added when I see a greater demand for it.
Installation:
- Download the app
- Activate the module in the Xposed Insaller
- Reboot your device
- Open the app to change it's options to your liking
Bugs/Issues:
If you encounter any bugs just report them here and I'll try to fix them. Always include as much information as possible, including your device model, android version and exact ROM details.
Note that I will most likely need a log to fix the issue, a generic "doesn't work on phone xyz" won't help me fixing the issues.
There are two possibilities to get a log.
Use the Catlog app. In the app press Menu > Record Log before the device shuts down, then attach the logcat to your bugreport.
Alternatively you need to use adb to grab the log.
Unfortunately logging is a bit more complicated for this module as the interesting part happens on shutdown.
The best solution (and what I do personally for debugging this app) is to use ADB over WiFi (e.g. with this app) and grab the log.

Last but not least an obligatory huge thanks to @rovo89 for his amazing Xposed framework!
If you like this module don't forget to press thanks, rate this thread with 5 stars, consider a donation etc. etc.

I love your icon pack!
Tried it on my cm12.1. No bootloops here. Will edit after full uncharging
EDIT: Turned turning on full brightness, hot spot, gps, flashlight, mobile data, etc... Still 8% to go. Your module and me are waiting eagerly lol
EDIT2: Finally reached 0
And tonyp, I am pleased to say your module works in cm12.1
Suggestion: Make the dialog box closable. So if I am playing a game or writing to a File I can save my progress. Hope you understand.
And I appreciate your idea. Well implemented.
And do you mind sharing that icon pack :hungry:
Samsung galaxy s3 i9300 4.3 mk6 stock rom, bootloops.

Bootloop on Nexus 4, Stock Android 4.3.3...
EDIT Because OP asked how the bootloop occurs on Nexus 4, Android 4.3.3:
Bootloop occurs after activating module and normal (not soft) reboot.
Before reboot app can be runned and configurated.
I have no log app running, so I'm not able to deliver logs.
Yes, please send me a logcat. Bootloops are great, then you can just get the log after the reboot. I literally can't do anything without a log.

Thanks for the feedback, then I will add 5.1 to the compatibility at the Play Store.
Regarding the closable dialog, I made it non closable on purpose but I'll consider adding an experimental feature to change that. At first I'd like to fix the bugs, though.

More suggestions:
Add some animations to the dialog
Add option for an alert tune or notification 1min before
Add buttons to dialog box for shutdown(sometimes I dont like to wait)[optional]
Happy with what you had already done and you forgot me an icon pack

I'd like to fix the issue, could you kindly send me a logcat of the bootloop?
Unfortunately there is literally nothing I could possibly do without a log.

I'm using the stock dialog which guarantees the highest possible compatibility with other devices.
Regarding the notification, I don't know when the battery will be empty before, so there's no way to display a message one minute before. All I could do is starting the dialog at 1% (which I'm considering for a future version), but that would be quite different.
I like the idea for a shutdown button, an option to include that will be in an upcoming version.
Oh, true, the icon pack is called etched material.
Phone freezes when I get a notification from an app. Specifically when I get a notification from Messenger(Facebook app). Is it possible to grab a log if it freezes and I have to restart?
And to make sure it wasn't anything else, I uninstalled it and the freezing stopped.

This sounds very strange, the module is only hooking into one class which has nothing to do with receiving messages.
Yes, usually it works to log the freeze, just start logging (best would be with adb logcat) before it happens.
Can not install on 4.1
I am trying to install it on my xperia x10 running cm10 but it does not install. Please help me so that I can test the module on it.
I am also experiencing odd behavior on CM 11 M11 on two devices: Nexus 5 and 10.
The behavior I'm seeing is that when the battery is running low, the dialog shows up.
When the countdown completes, the device then reboots (seems to be doing a soft boot) instead of shutting down.
I am running some experiments, on a Nexus 4 and I'm hoping to capture a logcat.

There we go, I have it.
This is a logcat of the behavior I was describing earlier: after the countdown, the system performs a soft reboot instead of shutting down.
I have seen this behavior on Nexus 4/5/10 (mako/hammerhead/manta) on CM11 M11.
The logcat below is on a Nexus 4 running CM11 M11 and Battery Shutdown Manager 0.93:

The module currently requires Android 4.2 or higher. You can't install the module on CM10 as that is based on Android 4.1.
To support Android 4.0 and 4.1 I need to write some custom code which I need some people to test, so everyone interested in this module on a 4.0 or 4.1 device (including CM9 / CM10 etc of course) please write here or send me a PM and I'll contact you as soon as I have a version ready for testing! Can I count you in?

Thank you very much for the logcat! It contained exactly what I needed!
Thanks to that I identified the issue and pushed out a new version (0.94) to fix it.
It will probably take a couple hours in the Google Play Store to appear, in the meantime you can find the new version at the Xposed Repo or attached to this post.
Additionally this version fixes a potential bootloop cause for devices running Jellybean (4.2 / 4.3).
Could the affected people please test this and confirm? Again, if you manage to get me a log it will make it a lot easier for me to fix any issue whatsoever.
Changelog v0.94:
fixed a soft reboot on Kitkat devices when the countdown reaches 0
fixed a potential bootloop on Jellybean devices
Nice! This is so necessary… I'm gonna test it.

The 0.94 update fixes the soft-reboot after countdown problem for me on CM11 M11 for Nexus 5. I haven't checked the other devices, and won't be any time soon.
Also, I just bought the Pro version on one device.
The Pro option won't unlock on the other devices, I get a "You already own this item." Error.
@tonyp I'm using WSM Manager (Xposed for MIUI) , but this app still ask to download xposed installer. How to fix this?

No worries, they're using the same codebase so it will work on all devices.
Thanks a lot for buying pro
That purchase should work on all devices of course sometimes it takes a little while to propagate at Google, when you still have the issue after a couple more hours could you please drop me a PM? I did test the IAP purchases with all possible ways Google offers for me, but unfortunately that's something that could be greatly improved on their side.

Ah, I didn't know there exists an alternative manager. I'm explicitly checking for the Xposed Installer. You can ignore the warning for now and I will push an update which recognizes the WSM Manager as well

Album force close when i try to open faces !

Hello,
I have a problem related to album, when i try to open faces the app force close,i know the problem is related to SomcPhotoAnalyzer so i tried to clear data for both album and somcphotoanalyzer but still not working,i attached the log if anyone could help.thanks.
I'm having the same issue since a long time already. I have searched all around and tried a lot of things (clear data of all related apps, installing different versions of the apps in different locations) but nothing seems to solve it.
There are several people throughout the forums that have the same problem.
I do let it crash regularly and send crash reports in the hopes Sony fixes it...
Same here, searching for fix...
Maybe someone with more knowledge can help us, here is the log from the bug (I made it crash twice)

LineageOS update caused permission erros for GApps

Hello together,
I recently made an update of LineageOS for my LG G5 (LineageOS 14.1) as well as my Samsung Galaxy S5 (LineageOS 15.1). They both seem to have serious issues afterwards and I don't know what happened. I assume something has changed within the last month or so and my problem appears with both devices.
It appears as if the permissions for all GApps have changed (or the uids perhaps). All other apps work perfectly fine so far. I also downloaded the latest GApps and installed them via TWRP but that doesn't seem to solve any problem. However I'm not sure that overwrites the old applications or only installs currently not installed ones.
So when ever I use one of these apps (Gmail, Playstore, Maps, some of the system processes), it always crashes and I see the log messages looking like this:
Code:
com.google.android.gms.persistent, PID: 13071
java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to create application

They all have in common that they tell me that "Neither user [???] nor current process has android.permission.[???] "
It seems to work uninstalling the specific app and reinstalling it. However this is a lot of work and isn't really easy for some apps that are closer to the system.
So what can I do? What exactly is the problem here? Did the UIDs change? Any suggestions please!

Install it once, reboot to system and after booting to system reboot again, it should appear.

Everything is working. VoLTE isn't supported yet for this device on none of the ROMs because of source changes introduced in Pie that broke it. Some devs are working on it, while I can't, just because of the fact that my carrier hasn't implemented it yet.

I'm glad you like this ROM, although you might want to thank @edi194 a bit more about this since he's the owner of the project lol. I'm just a maintainer.
About rooting, that's a bug in Magisk. Simply unpack the Magisk zip and manually install magisk.apk from the common folder.

Thank you EDI194 and facuarmo for this ROM development and maintenance, thanks look.akash18 for the help.
Hi, after following the standard procedure to install this rom (wipe cache, system, dalvik, data), I found that the initial setup is broken if no gapps are installed, the Pixel setup crashes as soon as I hit Continue, I re-downloaded the rome to check if maybe my download was corrupt, had no luck, also checked with md5sum and the file was fine
Re-installing the rom and installing gapps before the first boot allows me to complete the initial setup

Hi, I have encountered another *minor* bug, enabling triple tap zoom on accessibility settings disables any kind of input on the device, the power button still works, although the only thing that can be done is forcing the device to restart long-pressing the power button
I can confirm the device does not completely hangs, as animations going on in the screen are still displaying, and plugging an external mouse thru OTG moves the cursor (but clicking and pressing keys don't do anything)
steps to reproduce:
-Install rom with nano gapps package (from OpenGapps)
-finish initial setup
-enable triple tap zoom
-enjoy (??)
EDIT: I should clarify that only *enabling* triple tap zoom hangs the phone, after forcing the device to reboot, it works normally (and even triple tap zoom works)

2ND UPDATE:
Well, seems like everything hangs, the rom is actually pretty cool and "smooth", but I've reinstalled it 3 times, only on the last try I was able to finish the initial setup, then it was all downhill, launching certain settings for the first time hang the phone for about 1 minute (example: opening mobile data settings, app permissions), trying to uninstall an app didn't work, and trying to force the uninstall thru adb froze the phone completely, although after a (forced) reboot, uninstalling apps seems to work correctly, it seems that doing *anything* for the first time hangs the phone, after trying to do something for the first time and rebooting (or letting the phone un-freeze itself, although that could take some serious time)
I'm (almost) pretty sure that this is not a problem with just my device/phone, as everything worked perfectly on past roms.
However, I'll continue to use this rom to see if it stops hanging, after the last forced reboot (after trying to uninstall an app), everything seems to be working perfectly

That's something really strange, because rom doesn't have any "SetupWizard" or "Initial setup" included, if gapps not installed then you just boot up to home screen

It's awesome that my device can now run Android 9!
What works
Camera, including video recording
Phone calls
Mobile data (LTE), after adding my carrier's APN
SafetyNet passes out of the box
Bugs/issues I've faced (device-specific)
Updater crashes with
Code:
java.lang.NullPointerException: Attempt to invoke virtual method 'java.lang.String com.updates.models.Update.getDownload()' on a null object reference
at com.updates.fragments.OTAFragment$2.onResponse(OTAFragment.java:105)
at retrofit2.ExecutorCallAdapterFactory$ExecutorCallbackCall$1$1.run(ExecutorCallAdapterFactory.java:71)
Google's Sounds app crashes so I can't change ringtone or message tone (If you install Gapps don't install this!). It seems to be a graphics issue:

Sometimes my screen turns black (I'll update this when I'm able to reproduce it again when logging)
More bugs and feature requests (ROM-specific)
Icons on the notification shade are gray, they have no colors
There's no option to make the phone rotate too when it's upside down (this is included in LineageOS, not sure if the Pie one includes it)
There are no shortcuts in the lock screen to access Phone and Camera (this could be a device or Gapps bug)
Volume buttons adjust media volume all the time (Pie issue, an option to change this would be nice)
Updated ROM DL Link
Well I tried to post the updated ROM link since the first one is no longer active, but I'm a FNG, so...
Also, flashed most recent version along with 9.0 micro GAPPS. Phone kept restarting getting a little further each time. Now she's stuck on loading.
And now we're bootlooping again. Did the same with Pixel Experience 9.0. Seems I can only get Oreo to run.

I've ran logcat just after the freeze with black screen (pressing Power doesn't turn on the screen):

Another bug in this ROM is that every 2-4 boots Wi-Fi and mobile data don't work, and the phone gets stuck showing "Android is starting" after unlocking.

Apparently, the developer hasn't posted in a while
Still, can't you make calls without VoLTE (either using regular calls or your carrier's app)?

Hi! Obs.: I'm new in the forum, só, if i err something obvious, please, say it ,-,...
I've tested the ROM published and i loved how it's fast in boot. The problem related with boot and wifi looks not appearing more. This ROM was some personals and best performance. The camera isn't work. I rebooted 3 times and nothing. That's the unique error that i found.
I've switched so many ROM's, searching to find a ROM like these features.
The ROM is so much fluid and faster.
Good work!

Hi! I'm glad you liked the ROM, and yeah, the camera issues are really frequent on this device. I can't promise anything but I'll be taking a look at what's wrong and try to fix it by the late night of today (UTC -03:00).
For me, it worked, then it wasn't working, rebooted, working again.

[DEV][AAOS][GAS] Google Services on Android Automotive OS build

Hello, I'm looking for a way to use Google Automotive Services in my custom ROM.
My aim is to develop an application using privilage/system permissions (android.car.permission.CAR_INFO, android.permission.SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW, etc.) and Google API, but I can't see a way to install it on the official emulator.
For a start - I've downloaded 12.1 sources, built an SDK image and created an emulator. Then I've downloaded AAOS 12.1 emulator image with a Play Store.
Side note: I'd like to do the same with AAOS 13, but there is no official AAOS 13 emulator image with GAS so far.
Then I've found all apk packages present in the emulator system img file and absent in my image, sign them all with my platform key and install with adb install with "-g" switch.
The emulator starts but it just pretends to work.
Google Maps starts, but it can't read the GPS signal (I'm in the middle of the ocean )
I still see "The device isn't Play Protect certified" message, even when registered at https://www.google.com/android/uncertified/.
When trying to log into a Google Account, I can see "addAccount(com.google): java.lang.SecurityException: Cannot delegate to Service with different signature." exception thrown.
There are a lot of security-related errors in logs:
GooglePlayServices not available due to error 9
com.google.android.carassistant requires Google Play services, but their signature is invalid
java.lang.SecurityException: UID 10157 is not associated with a first party app!
File error accessing recents directory,
Tried to access the API:ViewConfiguration which needs to have proper configuration from a non-UI Context:[email protected]
Package com.android.car.activityresolver is not installed for any user, java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: dlopen failed: library "/system/lib64/libbluetooth_jni.so" needed or dlopened by "/apex/com.android.art/lib64/libnativeloader.so" is not accessible for the namespace "classloader-namespace"
java.lang.SecurityException: Caller com.google.android.gms needs to hold android.permission.SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM to set exact alarms.
and a lot more....
Side note: I've tried an another way - to install my app as a system one in the official emulator, but repacking those super images beat me .
What else should I do? Is there an easy way, like Open GApps for Automotive or how can I create my own GApps package?
