Google Camera Port
Stable versions and configs for the Asus ZenFone 6/6Z.​
This phone's camera is already pretty good, but even at this level GCam can still help a bit. Compared to the stock camera app, it has a better dynamic range, better details, and sometimes better colours.
Features:
Features and bugs depend on the GCam and Android version used, but overall:
- HDR+ Enhanced, Night Mode, Astrophotography, Portrait Mode, Timelapse, Motion Photos, Lens Blur, Panorama, Photo Sphere, Photobooth, Motion tracking.
- Video (up to [email protected]), Timelapse, Slow motion (lower quality or broken in some versions).
- Main/Wide angle camera, 48MP and 12MP (best) switch.
- Playground/Stickers (follow this guide).
Bugs:
- When taking 48MP pictures, you might see a pattern on some areas of the photo.
- Video quality is better on stock, especially video stabilization.
How to use:
1. Download and open/install the apk file (how to).
2. Unless settings/configs are provided with the with the apk file, the app is ready for use.

Differences between developers:
Devs usually mod the app so it works on the phone they have. This means that a very popular modder for a different device might not be the best solution for our phone as each phone has different hardware, software, and limitations. For the ZF6, Arnova8G2 and Savitar are the best ones.
The number of settings and features may also be different. Some prefer to have simpler versions while others like to add lots of settings. Some may have better default settings than others, and so on.
Stock vs custom ROMs:
It seems that all features work on both stock and custom ROMs, but flash is a bit of a hit or miss on custom ROMs.

Arnova8G2 released two updates today:
- Based on his version: Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_V2.2.2beta2.190907.0540.apk
- Savitar's version, but with some new features: sav2l-sign_plus.apk
I'm not sure about their stability. I've noticed that sometimes they "hang" when processing a picture... the capture button turns dark grey and we can't take another picture. Auto flash is still broken and Arnova's version doesn't have a setting to use the 2nd camera.
Both versions now support XML config files, but the default settings work well on this phone.

I want to know: have you seen the "double exposure" feature coming with the Pixel 4? Would it be possible to bring it to the Zenfone 6 or shouldn't I be dreaming of it?

Apparently it needs something (some API?) not available on other phones, so it doesn't seem to work on other Pixel devices or non-Google devices. I don't know if it's all software based or if it uses hardware too.
To know for sure we'll need to wait until the Pixel 4 is released and a "final" stable GCam 7 is out.

Just for understanding sake, is the entire Arnova stable list compatible with the ZF6 or is there something in the filename/version number which implies ZF6 compatibility?
Ignoring, of course, Arnova builds before the ZF6 release!

The version from dpstar7582, which is based on Arnova's GCam 6.2 apk, also works on this phone and seems to be very stable. I think all main features and both cameras are working (slow motion broken):
- UNI_CAM_v1.2_Android_P.apk
Use this config file (by AX): zf6_ax.xml. We need to load the config twice (until GCam restarts). If you don't know import configs, check this guide.
AX recommends "kuro stock" lib for both main and aux cameras. We need to change this manually as config files can't change libs.
There's also a version for Android 10 (it should be released as stable soon), but I'm still on Android 9 and can't confirm if it works well or not:
- UNI_CAM_v1.2_Android_Q.apk

I don't know why, but I have small problems with Arnova's version. It's weird because both this and Savitar's version are based on his apk, but from time to time I would get a crash or experience delays when taking pictures with HDR Enhanced.
This version when used with the provided config is close to what I experienced with my previous phone (OnePlus 3) which had very good GCam support.
This may change soon as Arnova is working on a new 6.2 update and GCam 7, but at the moment I believe dpstar7582's version is the best one.

Interesting, I get "kuro stock" lib for both main and aux cameras just by importing config file, so I didn't need to change it manually.
Or is this the default setting?

Same here too. Even with the original package name doesn't work well. I think we have to use gcam 7 for now.

Same problem with HDR processing here... I upgraded today to Android 10 and now i can't use Gcam at all... It's a shame because i love Night Sight... I hope it doesn't take too long to have a 100% working version.

Looks like no one can use MGC right now on 10. I can't either with UNI_CAM.
