Best Kernel - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hi guys, what kernel are you using and what is your averge SoT. I am using crDroid build and i am loving it, but i get poor battery life, around 5h I am using default kernel with this rom, and also i flashed 2.4 Ghz thermal but nothing is improved. Maybe my battery is just dying Is there way i can check that?
Thanks ?

Optimus Drunk user here, however I'm using it on PE Plus ROM.
Usually I got Around 16 hours battery last with SOT of 7 hours. Daily usage for browsing, media socials, and a little gaming (no more than 1 hour).
I also use LKT, that thing is magic for your battery life.

Which ROM gives best battery backup ?

Hello folks
Currently I am on Stock OOS 2.2.1 with Blu spark kernel 161. Currently I get 5-6 HR SOT with wifi and calling around 1hr in 24hrs time.
However if I use 3G I merely get 3-4 hr SOT and phone heats up within 10 mins.
My main priority is Battery and camera. I am planning to change ROM but I am confused.
Please suggest me a good ROM/Kernel combination as a daily driver bug free and with good battery life.
There are many roms available and I cannot try each one. Secondly if it is possible to get good life in OOS by optimizing kernel, it is also welcome.
Now many *experts* will say that it depends on usage and varies accordingly. I know this is true but apart from all variation still exists.
P.S.- Those who are using blu spark kernel and getting a good battery life, please share the optimization.
Xosp with Blu or boefla kernel seems to work best for some (up to 7 hours sot). Didn't give as extreme results for me, most roms with Blu spark seem to be able to give 5 to 6 hours. I'm on dirty unicorns now and happy. Sultan's and Temasek's cm worked fine too for me...
Try XOSP Rom.

Any bugs in Xosp? How is camera quality?
Do I need to configure Kernel settings if I use custom one ?
You should try Sultans Unofficial CM 13 as your main priorities are battery and camera.
It has got Sultans Camera HAL and also has kernel underclocked at 1.9 GHz with his thermal control driver which gives great battery life and ROM feels very smooth too.

"5 hrs with 4g for about 50%" you mean you get 5hrs with 50% battery left
Which kernel are you on ?

No man.
I was on 4g network all the time and I use it as my primary data connection and no WiFi.
I mean that I was connected to Mobile data for about half of my SOT.

No bugs. It looks great. Camera is same in all Roms. There is no need of configuring the stock kernel, though you can configure or use a different kernel. Just try it out. You can see the screenshots posted in the thread. I have tried a lot of Roms but them I revert to xosp only.

RR
stable...
all working...
good battery backup too ( 8:30 to 9:30 hrs SOT )
AICP!
Best performance, most stable, best battery backup and the huge customization features (which I love!).
For even more battery backup, use DS Battery Saver (from play store) and Radon Kernel with darkness governor on both big and LITTLE (set those with Kernel Adiutor).
See the battery percentage, it will never come down.
Another option for best battery and stability is Slim/Tipsy (Tipsy preferred for customisation). Use these ROMs with the same DS battery saver and the same kernel (Radon) with the same governors and expect even more battery life.
@rasik107
9 hrs SOT?!? That's overkill bro, maximum is 6 to 7 hrs SOT for most of the phones with the huge battery and screen.
But I dont mean RR is bad, it is good too but AICP holds a special place in my heart, don't know why!!!

on 3G : 6-7 hrs...
on wifi : 8-9 hrs

Actually, I spend most of the battery on TWRP! (I am a Flashaholic!).
AFAIK, TWRP consumes 1% battery per minute or two.
My best is 8 hrs SOT.

Kernel for OOS 3.1.4 & Battery question

Is anyone using any kernels with OOS 3.1.4? How's the battery life treating you?
Also, is there a version of bluespark for 3.1.4? I couldnt find any working builds in the bluespark thread.
I´m using arsenic kernel with the recommended profile. To be honest is nothing special, it´s just a bit better than stock kernel. When phone is idle battery loses around 3%.
I think bluspark does not support 3.1.4, he abandoned development I think.

I remember using that with mOOS and greenify with it. I chose zzmoov governer and easily got 5 hr SOT with the battery saving profile.
Yes I also used it with mOOS, and works better with it than with stock OOS, which does not surprise me.
Never used battery saving profile, but I reached 5hrs SOT though.

What are you on currently? Whats your best setup?
I have stock OOS 3.1.4 with arsenic kernel, greenify and Naptime.
I haven´t found the best profile for me yet, so I use the recommended profile in arsenic´s kernel (interactive cpu). Battery profile lags a bit for what I want.
As I play games a little bit more, I only have around 4hrs SOT.

Best ROM for battery life for Redmi Note 3

I am using Resurrection Remix 16/04 build for a month now. I am getting 5-5.5 hours of screen on time. But I need to charge it in the evening for it be usable. It was not the case in MIUI. Is battery life better in MIUI ? Which custom rom is best for battery life ? I am not a heavy user just social media, youtube etc.
I used Nitrogen OS Oreo and battery was bad. I reverted to last miui stable and battery now is good.

Yeah same I am also thinking of going back to MIUI. There the battery life is good and I am facing LTE signal fluctuation every now and then on all custom roms. Don't know if its a common bug.
customised lineage umang nougat wth shadow kernel
It could be better if other people will share their tests
Aug 2017 build of viper os is best for battery......

You can check [ROM][UNOFFICIAL][8.1.0][kenzo] LineageOS 15.1[Nightlies]. I've moved to this ROM from NOS 8.1, when SOT times were decreasing (3-4 hours, even of WiFi) and I'm quite surprised with SOT on LOS. Please keep in mind, this SOT is only linked to WiFi - I didn't used mobile data at all with this charge. I'm using latest Agni kernel.
I can also post statistics using mixed usage (WiFi + mobile data) someday, if you are interested.

Need help choosing a custom kernel

So I just unlocked the bootloader of my one-week-old Poco F1, flashed LineageOS 16, and everything has been smooth sailing so far. Now, I want to flash a custom kernel. What can you recommend for a good balance of battery life and performance? I'm not really keen on tweaking parameters so I want a flash-and-forget-it solution. Thanks in advance.
Sphinx works best for miui and lineage.
Franco is also up there
Canting kernel. At first I was flashing a different kernel daily. I found Canting and have been on it for nearly a week. Super stable. Not 1 random reboot or freeze and it also has vibration control, sound control, display control, Klaspe and just about everything else
https://github.com/khusika/canting_kernel_xiaomi_sdm845/releases
Sphinx Kernel is a good all-rounder, if you want a 'leaner' kernel go for Simple Kernel. As for performance, I've heard quite some praise from Malakas Kernel but I can't guarantee anything. An honorable mention would be Canting Kernel.
bump
Arter97 kernel is good for balanced performance and battery life and its very smooth
Sphinx Kernel

Yes. 3x each test averaged with unthermal to rule out throttling.

Awesome! What do you personally recommend for the best balance of battery life and performance without tweaking? How about pure battery life?

I use lineage stock and have been getting ~8 hours SOT with light usage, over 48 hours between charge. The gains/losses in performance and battery life between kernels were negligible for me in real world usage and sticking with stock is just one less thing for me to worry about when updating.

Yep, might as well stick with stock I guess. The development done into these kernels is very active that some even update every day. I think it's too much of a hassle to me to flash a newer version daily.
I also like to believe that wiping cache frequently, which is a prerequisite in flashing, hurts battery life, because the phone doesn't get to compile it and as a result, keeps on running background processes to rebuild it every time you do so. What do you think?
Go for FK. 8 hours sot while playing PoGo non stop on 4g. Very good performance and non heating issues so far.
Just wanted to update this post based on my findings:
Franco: Awesome battery life, though the device essentially becomes gimped. I'm not a fan of underclocking.
Malakas: Best performance by far, and also pretty good battery life. A bit unstable, though.
Sphinx: A good balance between performance and battery life, though idle drain is a bit high. Will test a bit more.
Not willing to test arter's since it's SELinux Permissive.

I'm running Evolution-X with the Optimus Drunk Kernel. I have the NVT panel version of the Pocofone and my experience has been excellent. I also service a FTS panel version of the Pocofone, that had the freezing problem, and the Optimus Drunk Kernel really helped turn the phone from a freezing/frustrating nightmare and a similar experience to the NVT panel version. I recommend both the Evolution-X ROM and the kernel. Currently, the default kernel on the ROM is the DERP kernel, which is also good.
Nowadays I just stick with the stock kernel
