Hi
I have Mate 20 Pro (Lya-L09, EMUI 9.0.0) that I upgraded from original firmware to 9.0.0.210 using MikeOS method.
Now i just want it back to stock as when i 'check for updates' it never finds any even though i know new firmware has been released OTA.
I have downloaded updated firmware through Firmware Finder (tried both through the phone and through the app)
However, no method seems to work (I've tried all of them). They usually just error out or nothing at all. I've tried/looked at different tools: SP Flash, Flashy, Dload (dialer and eRecovery), MikeOS.
I'm happy to lose everything and start again, i just don't know how and I'm going around in circles looking at various websites and threads.
Any help appreciated.
Which cust is your device ? Cxxx ?
Does your bootloader is unlocked ?

Try changing your home internet/Wi-Fi DNS and then use eRecovery. Some ISPs may block access to China sites. At least mine does. When I use my home Wi-Fi, I can't access some China sites, but if I use my cell network instead, I can access those sites without problem.
Factory reset your phone first might help. Since you tried so many ways to update, you might have messed up some system files.

I'm guessing my bootloader is locked, however if there is a way of finding out, please let me know how.
Thanks

Hi
With recovery I changed my DNS on the router and my phone. With FF, I tested to hicloud and it worked, but when it reset it couldn't access the package and directed me to Huawei website.
Factory reset is something to consider.

Just flash B212 (
http://update.dbankcdn.com/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G3469/g1750/v234906/f1/full/update_full_base.zip
)
With this method (Use hisuite UPDATE's option)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?do=showpost&p=78850439
Once on LYA C34 B212, that should bring you back C34 OTAs for your device.

Thanks Oslo83.
If i'm using the Hisuite update method, how do i point it to the b212 flash? Wouldn't Hisuite just look online for an update?

You register an approved B212 on FirmwareFinder, then you used patched hisuite with FirmwareFinder DNS and the Hisuite's update option.
That should update you to B212.

Holy smokes! This worked! I can't thank you enough!
I had some issues originally of HiSuite just kept closing on my laptop when i clicked 'update'. Took about 5 goes and having HiSuite showing on my phone for the update to begin.
Have since downloaded new update OTA (273).
Awesome!

So far on kirin980 there is only dirty-softrebrand. (DC-Phoenix flash or forced hisuite flash or even possibly renamed dload package flash)
Meaning device's vendorcountry stays the same, but with cust and preload forced to another region. Beware of that on emui10 where it seems there is checks at boot about cust&preload version.

I was happy to order a mate 20 pro for 490 euro for a dual Sim but got the single sim sim locked version. I have returned the product asking for a refund. ?.

I can turn this into a guide if we get the right info.
I have used DC-Unlocker to unlock bootloader and FRP.
I installed v20 Phh Generic System Image via fastboot flash system.
my FRP is locked now and bootloader unlocked, and oem unlock greyed out.
i am investigating a solution and maybe it can help others.
Recovery:
can flash updates if bootloader and frp is unlocked
eRecovery:
i can connect to wifi, but no firmware is found
DLOAD:
updates performed with vol down+up+power
using the update extractor i can get the UPDATE.APP from the official firmware (SHT-W09C432B151 (8.0.0.151) i think for me)
but UPDATE.APP is over fat32 4GB limit. so i cant put it on the SDCard - and im not sure if the recovery can read exFat.
i tried with both but they fail immediately.
placing the files in the internal storage with DLOAD folder seems to send update to 5% then fail.
HWOTA:
seems to be a method used on older devices - not sure if it will work to flash this device.
the sh. script seems fairly straightforward so maybe it can be modded to work with this device
Device: SHT-W09 M5 8.4 (eu)
Build Number: 8.0.0.151 (C432)
OS: Stock 151 with Phh GSI applied
ive never had a device this difficult to recover. samsung had odin to flash firmware, nexus 5/7/9 always had a way out - when i was building roms for moto xoom it wasnt this difficult.
Good luck man, it seems like when this thing bootloops, it activates some sort of defense mechanism that makes recovery particularly challenging.
I bootlooped after editing my vendor/build.prop file. DLoad method failed. Flashing partitions via fastboot failed. Stock recovery failed. TWRP became available, and I got it working...but no partitions would mount r/w. I paid to use Funky Huawei's unbrick tool, and it failed.
Funky Huawei's eRecovery method is basically all that worked for me. But I paid to use it (I still have a few weeks remaining on a pass).
These instructions, which don't involve payment to Funky Huawei, might or might not work:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/funky-huawei-erecovery-solution-100-t3620165
Thanks for the alternative method.
I tried with hisuite using firmware finder, it uses the same funky DNS server. When I start the process the download works fine then on hisuite it says installing, does nothing then fails. After I reboot (usb in pc, all 3 buttons) it shows a usb symbol - installing but hangs at 5% for ages.
I tried with a portable router with ERecovery and it did not work unfortunately still failed to get info
I had to result to funkyhuawei who have now added SHT-W09C432 to their system.
In the 30 days I have this I'm tdetermined to find alternative solutions to fix this issue like all other devices tend to have.
I battled it out with Huawei support and there's no chance of an frp key - at least first 3 attempts. Also tried to get them tonexplqin ERecovery but said it's for insiders only just for service repairs. They have no regard for helping developers.
I was trying to figure out where the file get stored on ERecovery so if we could adb push to it and hold vol down + up + power to recover the device. I found i could pull from /dload (not internal/externalsd) which contained firmware_update_dload.zip but when uncompressed e enwbti be referenced to Qualcomm chips.
Any ideas on patching the recovery or boot image to prevent frp lock?
I also tried to see if there is a way from adb (while OS is running) to flip the OEM unlock back to on but there's nothing in system/global/settings that represents that.
It's strange because frp should not lock if you log back into the same account.

Any conclusions why this metod isnt working? On older device this works everytime if you do it right but not on this device? is it a Oreo thing or is it because the UPDATE.APP is so big?

In my experience using the Huawei P9 the only time I was successful upgrading the firmware from the dload folder was when the firmware version ended with MF-PV (Public Version). Even though Huawei releases versions of the firmware without the MF-PV extension from what I read these versions are for testing purposes only.
In addition to my reply to you in the 8.0.0.163 firmware update thread there is a tool called HuRUpdater that has a similar upgrade procedure to the one I described when I upgraded the firmware on my SHT-AL09 from 151 to 163.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
OK, thanks for this info, of course I thought that this device would be as easy to utdate then my much older M2-801L via dload which worked every time. And thanks for the tool tip, I'm looking into that thread as well :good:

Sorry for the late reply had some busy months!
So from what I remember it's because the UPDATE.APP was too big. I tried recreating the update.app without the non-essentials but I couldn't get it working.
Huawei support when I asked about how to update via recovery just kept saying it's only for technicians at Huawei so they won't help me in any way!
Hi everybody, I'm a new p20 lite user and I want to ask you: do you know how to install a original firmware? I've tried to follow the dload method (so I put the update.app file into the dload directory that it's located in the external sd card) but the installation process stops at 5%. I found the update.zip file using firmware finder, the firmware I want to install it's avaiable for me (I checked the imei) and I tried with ota and full ota. Maybe I have to unlock the bootloader or root my device before? If someone need my actual build is ANE-LX1 8.0.0.145(C432).

Ok thank you for your replay. I took a look at the post. I've tried to install the firmware using huawei firmware finder (proxy and dns methods) but nothing to do. I have a question for the Huawei eRecovery method of your post: there's no way to not wipe user data? Because for me it will be annoying. Anyway, why if huawei finder tell me a firmware is approved, then via ota there are no one updates??

Nowadays FF is not working as did in the past, I hope it be fix soon.
No, is not possible, to install via eRecovery always wipe data partition, at least I don't know how to avoid it.
That happened to me two days ago, I was running B148 and I find that B150 was approved for installation on the FF app, then I checked settings/system/ system update and no OTA there

Hi everyone,
When EMUI 9 was first released on Firmware Finder, I've updated my phone with HuRupdate, since then, my phone model has changed from STF-L09C432 to
STF-LGRP2-OVS, since then, I'm stuck with the build 9.0.1.157, even though I've tried many time to flash another update or go back to EMUI 8 but I never managed to do it. I've tried with official recoveries, dload folder and it always failed, I've also tried flashing with TWRP, ADB, HWOTA or even MultiTool 8, but it never changed. Last time I tried flashing Kernel I've got an error saying that the file doesn't match the size or the path of the Partition. Have I done something wrong? Will I ever be Able to go back to EMUI 8? And If I ever manage to do it, Will I be able to receive official updates? I've seen that EMUI 9.1 was released as I saw a Honor 9 Lite with it and I want to upgrade to it as soon as possible
I'd be thankful if anyone can answer one of these questions!
I have Honor 9 STF-Al 10, with the System Emui 9.0.1.179
Due to some bugs, i intend to downgrade to Oreo.
it is said the phone will be hard brick by the method of HuRupdater.
the only way to downgrade to Oreo from Emui9 is Hisuite.
I heard about the HiSuite method, but when I go in the update menu it only tells me that i'm using the latest official version (which is wrong), and it doesn't show me any "switch to other version" button to downgrade the phone

should use the proper Hisuite version on PC (mine is 9.0.2.301)
there is an option to switch to Oreo
I'm using the same one, is it written somewhere which version is the right one or do I have to try and retry each version?

you mean that your Hisuite is 9.0.2.301,
but still no option to switch to older Emui?
Exactly!
Not sure about If I should edit or double post but I thought that it also might be because my phone is Unlocked?
Wow I got exactly the same issue! Also STF-LGRP2-OVS but 162. No chance to downgrade!
I would be also fine with flashing a "normal" L09C432 version of EMUI but don't know how to..
Maybe if someone can post a TWRP Backup of EMUI 8.0 with no user data it could work since we can still have access to TWRP

Firstly I'm gonna try to go back to a normal version, not this OVS crap. Maybe if you go to a normal STF-L09 Rom, Hisuite is offering you a rollback?
I don't even know how to do that to be honest. Shouldn't it be possible just with fastboot and a FF rom?

You tried to flash the EMUI 8 rom directly, right? I would firstly flash a "regular" (no OVS) EMUI 9 Rom and then try to roll back with HiSuite. I'm probably gonna end up with flashing the regular EMUI 9, lock the Bootloader and sell that crappy phone to get a flashfriendly Xiaomi

Be super careful downgrading to oreo because android P has rollback protection. I would recommend contacting HiCare and asking them to put you on EMUI 9.1. Although it's not a downgrade you might recieve and upgrade via OTA

use a dload meant for C432 with a build version superior of the one you actually are.
Try https://androidhost.ru/TTy
use a working SD or usb-otg ExFAT formated
(test for error with h2testw windows app or with f3 osx/linux)
use stock recovery
boot dload mode
So I managed to downgrade to successfully unlock my bootloader however I am now stuck on 8.0.0.046(092Y) and am unable to OTA update. I have installed magisk and TWRP and they are both currently working however I am curious as to why I cannot update to a newer 8.0 OTA firmware. Any suggestions? The device is an ANE-LX3 single sim.
Because you used wrong firmware.
(092y) or similar numbers are here because wrong firmware..
At least that was case for me, when I installed single SIM firmware over dual SIM phone, and of course, that build number not exist in update servers, so no updates here, till you fix your firmware

And I'm not used that files, and can't say anything about that.

And ,wulda be great if you type down all you did with phone, what used, etc.

I noticed the file name is LX1 however in the description it says its for all models which is confusing. Any idea where I could find an official firmware download for LX3? Even a functional custom rom compatible with my device would be fine if I could find one.
I used hisuite to first downgrade and then used the firmware from this post to dload downgrade again in order to unlock the bootloader. I then factory reset after successfully unlocking the bootloader which left me at build 046.
To be honest I cannot remember what the original build number was although c779 does sound very familiar.

Hello there brother. May I humbly ask how did you get your bootloader unlocked after downgrading? Can you share some steps please if you don't mind. Thank you
While updating via USB OGT from 9.1.0.347 to 10.0.0.154, i received the attached message and not booting into the system in anyway.
Tried recovering from HiSuite but it says "Your device is not supported". Download and eRecovery option has also failed.
I have got LYA-L29 C432 device.
The device is FRP Locked and Bootloader Locked.
Is there anyway i can rollback to the previously running firmware or any other firmware?
I'm stuck and this device has literally become piece of brick for me now
No, you have to unbrick first before downgrading with hisuite.
Updating your cust&preload to emui10 cust&preload will fix you.
To do that, use correct emui10 dload packages, or use a trick to rename cust&preload package to correct name for your device's vendorcountry (region).

To do that, use correct emui10 dload packages, or use a trick to rename cust&preload package to correct name for your device's vendorcountry (region).

Being new to Android and specially Huawei, i initially couldn't understand what were you talking about. All those terms were new to me but then i decided to learn it myself instead of bugging others time and again... Found you everywhere helping others get out of this trouble. At the end i got rescued by your advises too. Can't be more happier :fingers-crossed::good:
Just one more thing if you could please advise;
I'm on EMUI 10 now but what if i want to go back to 9.1 that i have been using earlier? Can i reflash 9.1 again using dload method without having to stuck again anywhere? Or may be there is a way to downgrade to 9.1?
Thanks a bundle.

Great.
Emui9 dload should not succed to flash over device already on Emui10.
Hisuite10's update option should/could give you an 'update to other firmware/other/Rollback to emui9 firmware'
I'm not sure what emui9 cust&preload region package hisuite would fetch when rolling back to emui8, or even if it will fetch it, when you are on emui10 with wrong region emui10's cust&preload.
Maybe that blocks the 'rollback prompt', or just rollback to emui9 base keeping emui10 wrong-region cust&preload. -i'm not sure...
There is others 'avanced' methods to force throught hisuite the rollback base, cust and preload you carefully choosed ...

Will it brick (or even worst) the device again if i give it a try or it won't just let me flash the old firmware?
If there ain't any consequences to this, i would definitely try it.
What do you say?
